    Pennsylvania farmers market cinnamon rolls

Around 1970, we used to go to the Pennsylvania Dutch Farmer's Market in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to get the best cinnamon rolls I've ever tasted.  There was a booth at the Farmer's Market that sold them, and they were homemade by an Amish family.  Would anyone have that recipe?

Hi Diane, it's nice to meet you.  In the 1980s, I worked in some of those farmer's market that you speak of.

Did the cinnamon rolls have an  icing on them or were they more like a sticky bun?

We have an Amish baker here that puts brown sugar icing on her cinnamon rolls. Excellent! I would also love to have the icing recipe!

I'm a Farmer's Market nut, and HAVE to go to any in any area, wherever I am. The one thing I've noticed is that there are as many cinnamon bun recipes as there are bakers.

Personally, the best I've ever found was one that used the dough for Moravian Sugar Cake from Winkler's Bakery, and made into buns using any basic method.  And I don't care for mine to be iced, as I find them tasty and sweet enough without icing or glaze, but the favoured icing, (if you MUST...don't offer it...I'd take it !!!) is a cream cheese icing.
