RE: Where do you grocery shop?
Ha! I have always cooked my turkey this fast way. I didn't know it was a new way. The high heat method tastes so much fresher and the turkey is never dry. Why cook a turkey for hours anyway? Waste of time and oven space.

Ha! Well I barely learned about Safeway's recipe this year. What recipe do you currently use?

RE: Where do you grocery shop?
Stareater,TU for the link, I;ve cooked my the fast way for over 30 yrs, It's called the TENT type, my chart would say for a 20# turkey would take me 3-3-1/2 hr, now I make for us a smaller more tender turkey also, and I add 1 to 2 cups of water at the bottom of the pan, (*tip : from the cook at a famous turkey resturant in my parts of the woods.
setting temp for 450°,& I check it every hour. and use the turkey baster each time, but I cover the whole thigh more then the pic.
the Legs just fall off, and I cut the turkey breast 1st, from the bottom outside , in. then down for the slices. make sense.
Make it really tender & I cover the whole turkey w/heavy tin foil, tightly to the ends of the pan, and Now do not make stuffin in the cavity.
Homestyle Az I am like you! *smilin

Oh forgot, I shop at Aldi's but less now, they got every thing from soup to nut, and since they remodeled their store, everything item got raised by 20¢, buy still more cheaper then regular groc store,
Ultra, when they have more then 2 sale item, cause it is a trip.
another groc. store chain. will not mention their name, to give them advertising....

RE: Where do you grocery shop?
I shop for specials. I live in Ontario and yesterday went to the US to shop. Could not believe the differences in prices. We have a Sams Club here but Sams had better variety and cheaper prices. Also did the Walmart and the same. Went to Target but was not impressed. Do love shopping in the US.
At home here we have No Frill stores so frequent them.

RE: Where do you grocery shop?
I read the flyers and go where the bargains are on the items I buy.
There are a couple of things I only buy at Walmart.
We have a Super Walmart, County Market, Krogers, Aldis and Save A Lot.
I shop at all of them. The farthest, from my house, is Walmart and that is just a little over a mile and a half, so I'm not running all over town looking for bargains.
I, also, do some grocery buying a Big Lots.

RE: Where do you grocery shop?
I usually start at Grocery Outlet and then end up at the regular grocery store, Lucky to get what GO doesn't have.

"Why cook a turkey for hours anyway? Waste of time and oven space. "
haha...I agree.
Some people say that spending that whole 5+ hours cooking validates the whole "Thanksgiving" tradition, but I disagree. I think its the time we get to spend with family is what validates it. And if we can spend less time cooking and more time with family/friends, why not do so?
Do you usually have a lot of left overs?
