Good Morning, I didn't have to work today at the concession stand. The ice melted, lol. Nope not from our temps it is 42 now. Something broke so they had to move it to a different arena.

NOW, I thought the only HOliday different from ours (US) was Thanksgiving, but oviously not as CHAR has snow and is playing christmas music, lol.

CREA- I am sure yours and your friends hard work is really paying off today. I am sure the couple really appreciate it. I hope you are able to enjoy the party too.

    Good Morning everyone!!

Delores and DH: Have a very Happy Anniversary.

Crea: you are way ahead of me. DH has two loads of laundry done.. all I've done is drink a cup of coffee!!

    Yooper: happy packing!

Paulette: every time I see your name all I can think of are Gherkin pickles!! Have fun painting!

Ada: it's cloudy and wet here too.. might snow again today.

EMC: your apple pies sound yummy. Hope your arm is okay today.
By the way.. what did you do to it??

Altarose: where in Alberta are you from? I was born in Magrath. .my Dad and step Mom live in Fort Macleod. I also lived in Turner Valley and Strathmore.

Redawna: company for a whole week? Wow! You'll be busy.

I think Char is sleeping in this morning.. I can't see anything going on from my kitchen window. All that baking and Christmas music must have wore her right out.

Just a quiet day here today.. some housecleaning, getting a few things ready to mail tomorrow and then I think I'll tackle my quilting room so I can actually find my sewing machine.

    Cheers,
    Heather

Dory, shame on me! I forgot to wish you a happy anniversary. Hope it's a good one and you have many more.

Redawna, I think I also forgot to wish you a happy birthday a few days back. I meant to...just kept forgetting.

I'm ashamed. Don't I look ashamed? It will serve me right if everybody forgets about me.

We went for our walk this morning and stopped to tell some neighbors a block over that we sold the house. Their daughter was there. She and her husband have bought a house across the street that she grew up in, and they've been working on it for weeks to remodel before they move in. They have also been buying furniture and spending a fortune on it. They wanted a casual but nice table for their dining area in the kitchen and haven't been able to find anything except stuff that's very formal or stuff that's way to informal. So DH is announcing to the neighbors that we sold the house and said "wanna buy a dining room table and chairs?" Her mother said they're buying everything new but can't find a table and chairs that suits them. Aha!

They came over and looked, bought it, toted it across the street already! Then her mother asked could she see the house because she'd never been upstairs. She spied two small occasional chairs with ottomans that we were going to sell just ONE of, grabbed up a cushion to run home to see if the color matched her sofa, and came back to announce a perfect match. Then she begged me to let her have both. I relented. Sigh. I loved those chairs. She said she's been looking for three years for the right chairs and in the meantime has been using wicker chairs from their front porch. What the heck! They'll be loved and appreciated, and we really didn't have room to keep the other one anyway.

Things are moving along nicely! I told DH that if it happens that this deal falls through (doubtful but it COULD happen), just think of the fun I'll have buying new furniture! lol

Just made this. And it is really really dry. So, before adding the fruits & nuts (and I used real apples and chopped cranberries) I came on here to see if anyone had reviewed the recipe. I see that Chelle had and had the same problem. I decided to add a tablespoon of apple juice. Helped a bit - but a very thick batter. Didn't know if I should add an extra egg. Put the batter in tin cans (4 veggie tin cans) and they are in the oven now. Will probably bake for about 40-50 minutes. Hope they turn out. I've always had such great luck with quick breads - never had a batter like this. Really think something is missing - liquid, more oil, another egg. Don't think Reiman tested this recipe.
(See the post Helped needed by Chelle52_Fl - recipe is there On the main bulletin board)

    Hey everyone,
Good luck today crea; but you're almost done by now. Everything will go great!
    Hard work always pays off!
Ms Gehrke - You are a Nascar fan?? I love it! Whose your driver? We went to Daytona last year (not at race time) but it was still so amazing. I seriously got goosebumps walking on the track!
Must go, the race is on!

Morning all. Hope you all have a great Sunday. You are all so busy all the time. Puts me to shame.
My baking dilema (sp?) is in the oven. Got lots of free apples from one of our neighbours so am trying to find new recipes. We sliced up a whole bunch this morning and they are in the dehydrator. Hope they turn out. Have a recipe for an apple pumpkin bread which sounds real good. At least it has some liquid in it - 1/2 cup water and more oil 1/3 cup. Of course if I make this recipe then I'll have to find something new for the pumpkin because I'll open a can of pumpkin and only use 1 cup so will have to use of the rest. Good thing it's cool and grey so I can stay in. I'm not much of a baker but usually any quick breads I make turn out really well. I would rather make a main dish than bake.

Did you see Just Mary's post under the potluck question. She is too funny. I replied that her friend's parents must be related to my brother!

Thanks for all the good wishes. We are home from church and are leaving for the supper about 4.
Our oldest granddaughter started teaching the 3 to 5 year olds sunday school nursery class today. Does anyone know a good website to go and look for books for the wee ones that I could buy for her to read to the kids?
Better go and make my tea, kettle is whistling away. Dolores

Well, its been a sunny and windy day. We have been working so hard the last while. The garden is emptied, and most of it has had its first fall tilling. My tractor ran out of fuel, and I ran out of energy too. We're on the way out the door for supper and to fill the fuel can for the tractor so I know what tomorrow is bringing. Until later, Pat

Supper was super: The special was baked ham with a sweet sauce, baked potato, mixed veggies, coleslaw and caramel apple strudel cheesecake. Very tasty. An early bedtime sounds wonderful. Goodnight all. I'm headed for a relaxing soak and then my pillow. Pat
