Good morning ladies,
Damm it will it ever rain, we don't need to mow the lawn anymore, it has turn brownish and doesn't grow. It has gone dormant. Sorry to say that Eija, due to your water problems, but enough is enough in either case. Today/tomorrow will be very hot again, with the humidex in the 40's.
My brother is not doing well, he is home and the Dr. told him that in time his organs will shut down, he is so down. He knows he is leaving his DW and cries about it....what would each of us do in his situation?
Pat, we have no plans either, all I have to do is go to my DS and let the dog out while they are gone camping. They rented a trailer for the long weekend. Pat is it hot at your place, too hot to sleep. I'll come over for some of those BBQ steaks. ....
My goodness Aleida, you are a big spender wow a twoonie/loonie. Did you get the thunderstorm?
Ladybug, how sad for the tornado to touch down in several areas, such damage they cause. Uprooting trees, destroying home, and farm land silos....what a mess. Hope all is ok with your family and your place at the lake.
Eija, getting your hair done always brightens a ladys spirits, you must look beautiful now. What does DH say? Hope the water is receding for you. It has been a difficult hurdle for you, now it needs to dry up.
Angela, lucky that no more damage was done at your place other than trees. Its sad when human lives are lost. The roof of the mall that collapse in N. Ontario has killed some people and still searching for more bodies. How devastating when one goes shopping and never returns. We never know when it is our time to leave this world. Good to hear you had a great visit with your son and DGD, kids grow so fast. You are right we all have our crosses to bear, there are times it feels heavier.
Have a nice Thursday,
YF
Good morning,
It was a much cooler night last night. I heard DH up to close the windows so he wouldn't 'freeze'. lol
Hopefully, today will be a good day for getting lots more odd jobs finished up and we'll have some idea of weekend schedules. With the construction around and all the crazy, impatient drivers, it might be best to avoid the highways.
Stay safe and comfortable this first long weekend of summer.
Good morning...cool right now... but nicely cool.... and it is certainly supposed to heat up...heat wave coming here also. Unfortunately I am headed to London this morning and will be suffering the heat there. I plan to return next Wednesday... at least that is the plan for now. I will be spending the nights with Tiffany.... sixth floor apartment without A/C.... luckily the days with my dad who has air.... though he doesn't always put it one because he is at that age where he gets cold before he gets hot.
Remember those hives Tiffany had a little over a week ago? Turns out that she has developed an allergy to peanuts... and now will have to carry an epi-pen with her and be super careful when eating outside of her own place... she did not have peanuts/peanut butter in her own place because she works at a daycare and knows not to have any of that because of that. Bummer!!! She had a small chunk of a chocolate bar (O'Henry... I think) with friends the night before... and we believe that is how it all started.
We did go to Costco yesterday and then David took me to lunch at the Mandarin. yummy!!
I still have a few little things that need doing but most is done. I won't leave until after David goes to bed... and he wants to take the boat cover off before doing that... it's all good.
Have a nice week/weekend.... and keep safe.
Good morning ladies...we have good news on the river front. The rivers have crested..and now we have to wait for them to recede. That means waiting for the ground water to go down for us..then one day within the next while, we will no longer hear a babbling brook in our basement! I will be so happy when that day comes, but that will mean the work will start then too. The cleanup..my house will smell like bleach!! And I know when we start to put the stuff back in the basement, a lot will not go there anymore. Enough will all the stuff we have...lots that is not needed anymore!
My hair looks good...hubby didn't even comment on it at all. Hmmm..maybe he doesn't like it?
Shopping morning today..should be home by 1. Then I have a meeting at 2, about the shopping program, at another grocery store that wants in on the program. So my boss and I will meet the manager and talk to him about it all. Hmm....I think it might be time for me to get a paycheck for this? LOL
Gosh, I wish that all you ladies dealing with the heat get some respite soon. I know what heat feels like, but not this year. You are dealing with what my area normally has.
I know our rain and awful weather has moved to the prairies. Thankfully for us, but not for them.
Maria, I pray for your db. I don't know how I would feel in his situation, but know it would be hard knowing you are leaving your spouse. Is he a Christian?
Aleida, oh my, no a/c on the 6th floor...I couldn't bear it. There must be a breeze though being that high.
Pat, hope your weather improves today too.
Good Morning All.
We were up at 5am because DH went to bed by 9pm. It had been a mixed up day so I didn't try to keep him up any longer. He is still very confused and very lathargic, is eating not too bad, and we are just waiting for the neurologist appt.
Someone asked what AS is. Ankalosing Spondilitis one of the over 200 forms of arthritis that causes lots of pain, and stiffening of the spine and it usually involves the major joints. In DH case he has involment of his feet, hands and many more things. We have learned to deal with it after 30 years and this twist with the mind is something new. I know that life has many twists and I must remain strong and await this neurologist appt with patience.
The weather was great yesterday so I mowed the lawn. It took me 2 hours with the lawn tractor. Never used it before and did good. A neighbour came to help and did by sitting with DH. I even started the weed eater. Will try to get out in the flower bed to keep ahead of the weeds. Our DS and DDIL are coming for the weekend. Sure look forward to that.
Isn't our countries weather different, floods, heat, rain and hopefully sun for all of us. Have a great Canada Day weekend everyone and be happy. Pillena
I thought I was here yesterday too but I guess I wasn't. That is the way of it when you are bored. I have been reading my book quite a bit and that usually makes me tired enough to close my eyes for little cat naps. I do have several projects waiting in the wings that I can do while convalescing but I am taking it easy for the first two weeks and then hopefully after that I will have some motivation to get at them.
We were under a tornado watch the other night too but thankfully nothing happened here just some wind and rain. Strong winds and lots of trees are down here too. We never did lose power but Prince Albert went 24 hours I think.
Pat I am always opening windows and my dh is always closing them too! I just can't sleep it if is too hot and stuffy in the room. I want it cold and then just pile on the blankets if you need to.
My bread machine went and now my washer is going. It is a front load maytag that we have had 11 years. They sure don't build anything to last these days - not even maytag! I wonder what will be next - don't these things usually happen in 3's?
YF it must be very difficult for your brother to face leaving his loved ones behind. I hope that he will be able to get past that and make the most of the time he has here. It is something we all have to face at some point and who really knows how they will handle it when their time comes? So many people don't get the option of saying goodbye and I guess that is easier for them but not the family. My prayers are with you and your family.
Lady bug - I did get your message in my email. How did you do that? I thought they took that option away completely.
In case anyone doesn't have my email address its runningdiva1 at gmail dot com email me there and I will give you the one I use more.
Good morning. Woke to grey skys and a litht drizzle and 60% chance of 1mm of rain this afternoon. it was enough to shut dan's work day down :( People don't realize how picky concrete is, he was to do a sidewalk out in the open and rain at 2pm would ruin the sidewalk, rain at 7pm would help the sidewalk! If you ever call someone to do concrete at your house and they give you the price, don't freak out on the price, it's a skill most carpenters don't have and won't do so it gets hired out to guys like Dan who specialize in it. Dan is cheap compared to most. there is pretty much only him and one other guy in town who does it. Plus the price also reflexs the expensive specialty tools, and it covers the risk they take, Dan has one pad that is all broken up on top, but he believes it is the homeowners fault, he said he's pretty sure they put salt on the snow in winter, never ever use salt on concrete, also, it was so late in the year he told the homeowner it was too late to pour concrete but thehomeowner insisted, so Dan told him it was a huge risk.
there, bet you learned somthing today you didn't expect, lol. I don't know HOW to do concrete, but let me tell you, I do know a lot about it! Same with building, heck, I can't barely put in a screw or nail, but I could probably tell you how to build somthing!
YF, last night while sitting around a fire, we were talking about my dad and old people and sick people. She(my mom) said that even though my dad died way too young, some of the health issues that my dad's family are dealing with, my mom is so grateful my dad never went thru that. My one uncle who is the most gentle caring quiet man ever, a very wonderful uncle to us kids, is now dealing with alzehmers and him and my aunt sleep in seperate rooms, she locks her door because when he sleeps, he becomes violent and has hurt her! Like my mom said, they are married but they cannot enjoy marriage anymore, he is no longer the wonderful man he had been all those years. She really is too old to be his nurse and she hasn't told her kids yet, one of their sons knows, and that is all, she doesn't want them to know that their dad is a danger to her. And my other uncle has MS and has been bedbound for years and years and has lived in a nursing home for many years, nothing to do all day, just lay there and read and watch tv. He's been so ready to go to his next Home. I am sorry your brother is going thru this. As painful as it is to have no time to say goodbye, for the person who dies suddenly and unexpectedly, it is a blessing for sure. For most others, it is a painful long process that is so hard on everyone around them also. ((hugs))
Eija, you guys better start warming up and producing typical Okanagan weather, or we will just have to change our vacation destination!! Your town is on our map, along with Revelstoke up thru Fairmont and such. We are excited to be in that area, it's been years since we have been there, well, one thing is, should be nice and green! Hope the water receds quickly for you. And I agree about not putting all the stuff back, may as well take this as a chance to get rid of stuff you really don't need.
Pat, last night our window was wide open but it was still very warm, it may have been a bit muggy last night too. Dan and I had a very interupted sleep from 2-4 with Randene not sleeping, she finally made a bed on our floor and had a wonderful sleep. As much as she whines about sharing a room with Kaeli, Kaeli is at a sleepover and Randene can't sleep by herself!! then the cat was meowing and his meow is like no other cat, he barely has a voice at all and can barely sleep. He NEVER stays inside overnight and wanted out, so I went and found him, he was so happy to be let out. I don't remember what all happened in those 2 hours, but gosh, I got up with Dan at 7am then when he cancelled work, I crawled back into bed!
This is getting long! I better quit.
