Oh! I keep forgetting to tell you that the coffee maker works perfectly Crea.....as long as I put the water in it! LOL
YF - It's mainly my "real" job that gets the best of me most days. (I do secretarial work and answer non-stop ringing phones for some of the area contractors. Right now - 'tis the construction season in MN).

Boo, we have to mow our lawn as well. Some years we are still doing that job in December. It depends, every year is different.
Thank-you Applekny, you are welcome to join in the conversations.
Sharon, it does make it easier to find the corner. How is the weather in your area?
Paulette, do you hear phones ringing in your sleep? Hope you get relieve soon from the pain. My DH lives with pain all the time, it's his neck they have fused some of his disks together. I do believe he has arthritis or fybromialgia.
Our Crea is working hard right now, working up a sweat. I'll be doing that tomorrow.

RE: New Canadian Corner 02/10/07
YF - I have several herniated discs in my neck and lower back due to a car accident. Luckily they don't cause me a whole lot of problems...as long as I behave myself that is. LOL I generally don't take any meds unless I do something that I shouldn't be which aggravates them. Lately, I've been behaving myself just fine! LOL Now if I could get rid of this pnemonia and strep throat, I'd be back in business. It's not fun to have to talk on the phone all day when your throat is killing you! You probably shouldn't call me today as I'd probably bite your head off! LOL

Paulette, DH doesn't take anything for pain either, unless it's really bad.
What time is supper, I was thinking of heading your way, it sounds like a great meal. Set another 2 plates for us......LOL
What you need dear lady is plenty of rest, take your meds and get away from the phones.

Good morning Crea & all.
It's so nice to be able to pop up here & find the site right away.
Crea, don't take on more than you can do. Don't want you get run down & sick.
YF, glad you have a day off. Enjoy that new tv.
Paulette, you better kick that bug out and feel better. You got too much on your plate to be knocked down.
Hi Sharon, are you working today?
Boo, I had to mow the other day, but it was the first time in almost 3 months I think. Wehaven't had much rain at all this year. I think we are over 12" below our usual level.
Hi, appleny, there are a few of us Americans sneaking in to be with our Canadian friends.
Hello, Cindy, at least the time will pass faster when someone is out. I'd rather stay busy than et around & watch the clock.
Catch ya'll later.

Supper's in the crockpot now and dinner will be ready to put on the table anytime after 5. I use the crockpot alot during the "busy season" as I sure don't feel like cooking by day's end! I WISH that I could get away from the phones but that's not even a remote possibility - the calls come with me whether I'm at the clinic, the grocery store or anywhere else I have to go (I transfer all of the lines onto my cell phone).

Good morning everyone. Up at my usual time today. Hubby is back to going to work at normal time now.
So I will head off to Curves before too long. Then home to make some relish.Got the veggies all cut up yesterday, and they are soaking in coarse salt. Will "pickle" it up today and get it in jars. IT is actually called hot dog relish. We love it.
I made your apple carrot loaf yesterday,Crea. Very tasty for sure. Also made some apple squares. I will post the recipe in a separate reply.
Well, should get my butt in gear here.
Have a wonderful day all.
E.

Apple Pie Bars
Crust:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar (optional)
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup butter
2 egg yolks, beaten
Filling:
4 cups pared, cored and sliced apples (1/8 inch thick)
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 egg whites, slightly beaten
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; cut in butter as for pie crust. Mix in egg yolks (mixture will be crumbly). Press half of the mixture in bottom of 15 x 10 in. jelly roll pan (may also use 13 x 9 x 2" pan). Set remaining half of mixture aside. Combine all of the filling ingredients except egg whites; arrange over bottom crust. Crumble remaining crumb mixture over filling. Brush egg whites over all. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes (jelly roll pan) or 40 minutes (13 x 9" pan). Cool. Drizzle with thin confectioner's sugar glaze if desired.

I sort of poured the egg white over the top and then tried to spread it with a pastry brush. It was hard to just brush the egg whites on because the top is crumbs.
I used a 13x9 pan. The cookie sheet was too big.

Yes I found y'all. smile
We keep hearing about that "S" word on Wednesday, but I hope it is only rain. It sure would make digging the garden easier.
I haven't thought about meal planning yet today. DH said he will surprise me. Crockpot roast sounds good Paulette, but I should have started that earlier. We have our big meal at noon.
What are you sewing Paulette?
I haven't made any of my "bags" lately. I have several on hand already made. I like them for "give-aways". I call them "disaster bags". If there is ever a disaster, just take my bag and fill it with stuff....and run. I'm also know as the "bag lady" by DFs.

Morning All! Still sprinkling out there this morning. Sounds like everyone is busy today. HOpe you feel better soon Paulette. I am just checking in here and then off to bake some quickbreads. I made some pumpkin pie fudge on the weekend and have to use up the rest of the can of pumpkin. Going to do some chocolate zucchini bread too. My kitty is meowing round my legs just now so better check to see if bowl is full. Happy Tuesday!

Good moring. It rained during the night, thought DH wouldn't be going to work, but it stoped, and looks okay outside. I sure hope he works thru the winter, or I don't know how we will survive.
Did y'all see my neighbour posted on a different thread, the where you from one? I thought someone for sure would make some sort of nasty comment! "Oh, you poor lady, having to live so close to Char!" But no one did!
Boo, when we had our other place, we mowed our lawn every 3'rd day, it was great exersize, as it was pretty big! Now our lawn is so small, even though it is very big for in town.
Sharon, your baquet yesterday sounds yummy!
YF, I have never mowed lawn in Dec, but we d0n't always have snow in Dec, so if you were a dye hard, you could, though by that time, it is long dead anyway.
Marilyn, so what made you decide you want to hang out with us lovely canadians? You just like our accent, eh?
EMC, I made that loaf yesterday too, but am letting it mellow. I still am wondering how it will be, there was no spice, I thought there should at least be cinnamon, but I was a good girl and followed the recipe.
Hi Bag Lady! Take the bag and run, that is so funny.
Wendy, enjoy your kitty, mine can no longer cuddle up with me, I miss it already!
Just babysitting today, nothing big planned, looks nice outside, we will see if it lasts.

Good morning all. It sure is much easier to find the CC now. Thanks.
We have had a busy couple of days, yesterday was soup and sandwich at the senior center and I made potato chowder for that and it all sold.We had 62 people out so we were pleased.
Today is laundry day and it is hanging outside, nice breeze so will blow out nicely.
Hi Sharon, my Halloween house is very pretty, the grandkids love it. I have a feeling I will go thru several sets of batteries. LOL
I have already made a trip to the school this morning. The youngest DGD was having a asthma attack and needed her inhaler. She usually carries one in her backpack but it was not there.
Better go and get something done . Dolores
