It's almost the witching hour & I'm here! The site seems terribly slow tonight. So, figured I should wish you all a Good night or a Good morning while I'm able to get on here.
Maria, I will be thinking of you & your family. I'm sure tomorrow will be a tough day for you visiting with your brother plus the horrible heat. ((hugs)) Be safe on the roads.
Surprisingly we managed a day without rain. It wasn't overly warm though my granddaughter, Kelsey thought she should swim this evening. Actually she didn't last long & had to have a hot shower to warm up before biking home. We should be getting warmer days on the weekend that is, of course, if the weather man is correct. We know how quickly the weather seems to change.
Friday my son & gdaughter, Logan (nearly 3) will be coming from Kenora. We haven't seen them for a couple months & Logan will likely have grown a lot. We talk to her on the phone often & she's pretty chatty. She's looking forward to going fishing with her new rod! Would be nice if she caught a small perch.
Hopefully you are all snug as a bug in a rug (bed) and enjoying a good sleep. I'm doing my usual night owl stuff. Seldom do I get to bed before midnight. Bad habit but tough to break. I may have to rise & shine earlier tomorrow since Ray is taking Kelsey to the dentist & errands afterwards. Haven't made a grocery list & that is definitely a necessity!
Will try & pop in tomorrow if ToH is playing nice. Take care.
Angela
Good morning Angela and Maria. I've been up for about an hour already... too early .... so I may head back to bed in a bit... for a bit. David just left for a shot-gun start golf game. And then he has a doctor's appointment... and a union meeting later in the day. I have only a tutoring session this afternoon... grade 9 boy has his exam tomorrow. Looks like he pulled it up and will pass the year but I doubt he passes by a great deal. I do think he has learned something.
Maria, how was the graduation? Wonderful I bet. And hugs for you todoay when you visit with your brother. It must be most difficult.
Angela enjoy your time with your DS and Logan. What fun you will have with a 3-yr old. She may run you ragged. I, too, hope she catches a small fish. She will be super excited.
Have a great day everyone.
Good morning ladies,
Thanks for starting the post Angela, while we are roasting the rest of Canada is cool and wet. There is no happy medium is there? Have a nice time with your little DGD. We also have a Logan our DGS, he is the youngest at 12 years old.
Today we are going to visit my brother, SIL told me he is coming home today. He is on lots of heart meds/blood thinners, no chemo for a couple of weeks. He has lost weight since we last saw him, he has to be very careful and not do anything ....but I know him he can't sit still, always wanting to do something. Maybe we need to tie him down. I'm going to have a good talk with him, and tell him he scared everyone by almost losing him. He can't go yet after all his DGD needs her papa. His work is not done yet on earth.
We went to our DGD's graduation last night, she looked beautiful. She had her hair done a "waterfall braid" I had never heard of it before. If you go on youtube you can see how they do it. It looks very nice, and once you get used to doing it it's easy. They also did her makeup. Her dress was awesome....she got an award in academic. We are proud of her she is a beautiful girl inside/out.
As I sit here typing I'm sweating like crazy even with the air on, that is all I do. Ladies in the west try to keep warm and in On. try to keep cool.
Have a nice Thursday ladies,
YF
Remembered that I owed an answer to a question.
Eija, my trips to the chiropractor are every 6 weeks and for maintenance. They are mostly covered by David's work and if they were not, I'm not sure if I would continue them. In May of 2006 I pinched my femoral nerve... I can remember doing it... a Saturday while yard saleing (I was alone) ... it was near the end of the yard sales and I bent down to look at the books in a box... I am such a book junkie... and I felt it... I jumped in a vertical position ... and said... "that hurt" I left and did feel discomfort but nothing horrible. It was the long weekend in May and David was working nights. I continued to feel only discomfort. I don't remember which night... I believe it was Sunday night... I couldn't sleep because of the pain.... I could almost not walk. I decided I had best go to the hospital... I drove myself... who would you wake in the middle of the night.... I was not as bad in a sitting position.... [expletive] hospital.... a new emergency section.... I drove around.... no parking for this new emergency... only ambulance parking and doctor parking ... and what have you... but no parking for patients.... they did have some in the previous one. So I parked in regular parking and headed in at the regular reception.... doors locked.... well it is the middle of the night afterall... but I knocked and finally they opened for me... gave me heck for driving myself... and wheelchaired me to emerg.... the doctor told me I had pinched the femoral nerve, gave me good pain killers, told me to see a chiropractor and take two weeks off work.... heh I liked that part. I've been going ever since even though I have never again had trouble with my femoral nerve and hope never to have trouble with it again... knock on wood..... oh long answer.... sorry.
And David goes because his work can be strenuous and this helps with the back, shoulders and right now... his knee.
Good morning,
The sun is shining, the grass is green again, the birds are visiting the feeders in droves, a mostly blue sky and comfortable temperatures. What a first day of summer--perfect conditions around me.
I'm thinking of you going to visit your DB today YF. Hope you can travel early and manage to stay cool.
Did you get a grocery list made Angela? Ray could pick up groceries for us too if he has extra time.
We misread our crowded calendar and went to the wrong BBQ yesterday. Today is the one we are meant to go to. We'll see if we head back for more visiting today. We did see several yesterday we haven's seen in a long time.
Guess I have the last load of laundry to fold and then its time to get the mowing started.
Have yourself a super summer day.
Good morning ladies...well, the basement is empty, and looks like just in time. There was some water seepage already starting in some of the cracks. And this morning, there is water down there..not lots..but things would have started getting wet if we hadn't moved the stuff. There are items that are up on cans of paint, and on blocks of wood too. Hoping that is high enough. That was a lot of heavy lifting for dh and myself. And I am not a huge help. Thought I was going to pass out a few times. So warm, and so busy. I posted on FB that it took us 4 hours, but it was actually 5. A quick stop for supper, and that is it.
Hubby has gone to work today. He said there was no point in sitting around at home. But if the seepage continues, he may have to stay home tomorrow and use the wet vac to suck up some water.
I have my shopping this morning. Not feeling great, so will see if I last the hole time. I just might feel better by getting out of the house.
Maria, thinking of you today. Huggs.
Aleida, ouch, that sounds like a painful thing you did to your back. I do maintenance visits to my chiropractor as well...but not as often as I used to. Now it seems I mostly go when I get a headache.
Pat, lol at your calendar mixup.
Well, time for a shower. Hope you all have a nice day
emc_bclike a painful thing you did to your back
The femoral nerve is in the leg.... I believe it is the nerve that goes up the front and the sciatic nerve ... the back of the leg.... I am not great at body parts... my excuse... I chose not to take biology in grade thirteen... instead took three maths, English, French and Spanish.
Sorry to hear you are having water issues Eija... hope they stay minor.
Good morning, yes, we got more rained, it poured hard with hail on our way to youth last night. We helped one of the kid's teachers put up a hawk pen. We stayed inside till the rain stopped, she didn't want them all soaking wet for the entire evening. Putting up the pen took about 1 1/2 hours then we did the campfire/hotdog thing. We left early and stopped at one of our youth's home. they live out in the country and have a small family farm, just some cows and sheep and one horse. She showed the kids the lambs and then gave them a ride on her horse!! They didn't want to leave! They have such a lovely place! So many farms are messy and old. they just built a house a year or two ago, and all their shops and barns are very neat and tidy. 2 of their kids are in our youth group, one of the families that we sure love how they raised their four kids, amazing kids!!
YF, man, the heat and going to see your brother, what a stressful day for sure ((hugs))
EMC, sorry to hear you are getting seepage. I was hoping it would miss your house. Do you have a finished basement?
Aleida, wow, I"m really impressed a doctor sent you to chiropractor, so many doctors don't beleive in them!
Angela, the grands must just love coming out to the lake!
Pat, that's so funny that you went to the wrong BBQ! So does that mean you went somewhere were there really wasn't a BBQ and got no food?
I'll go clean dr house and little old lady apartment(nanna) then I might pack for camping though at this time it still is looking way to wet to camp this weekend, might stick around home
LOL, Aleida, I knew the femoral was the leg, just was having a not so right in the head moment..which I am having many of right about now.
Char, yes we do have a finished basement. And there is a lot of water coming in right now. Time to get the shop vac working on sucking some of it out.
Oh EMC I know the pain of water in the basement and I'm feeling for you. May it be a short lived event.
We did go to the right BBQ today and were well fed again. This time the door prize draw was for a hand held GPS unit. It came home with me. I have wanted one for geocaching for a few years and now there's no excuse not to go searching for 'treasure'.
Spent the rest of the day on my tractor and have got most of the yard mowed up again. It is about a 6 hour job on the riding mower. I usually mow everything at least twice a week when the grass is actively growing. The yard had almost a two week growth so it was slow going today.
It is beginning to look like we're going to get wet again. The skies are getting quite dark. Better go sort out something for supper. Enjoy your long evening.
Well, my DD2 is really enjoying the heat in Ontario, while we are enjoying 23*C here...and I mean enjoying! I'm not a hot weather person at all.
((((((YF)))))) Not only do you have to contend with the heat, but the concerns of a very sick brother to boot.
And you have time to go geocaching, Pat? Where do you get your energy?
Eija, I hope the flooding stops soon. Yikes on the water in your basement!
We are looking to replant our raspberry patch as only one cane survived. We may decide to relocate it. But first we have to look for new canes. I wonder when is the best time to plant them. Our grandchildren are very sad there won't be any jam coming from here for awhile.
We hope to get away for a bit this summer...just not sure when. We're trying for mid July and maybe closer to September. It's not easy to take holidays in the summertime when everyone else at work wants them as well.
Guess I should decide what to have for supper. I have a bloomin' headache, so I really don't feel like making anything, but we do have to eat.
Have a good evening!
