My morning meeting got cancelled, which made me happy. Two of the most important officers could not be there, and there was no rushing business to come up. Now I will not have to make a mad dash to my balance appointment which is 20 miles away.
Tippy, I've never dried the St. John's Wort. The only thing I've heard of that it was used for is depression and I've never been depressed, thank goodness! I just happen to like the flower. I think I saw the picture on the computer and admired it, then saw a plant at the nursery and bought it. It is such a pretty plant. If I knew someone who could use it I could certainly give them a start, but I don't know anyone who needs it.
Think I will go take Tami for a walk before it gets too warm. It is only going to be 80, but tomorrow 93°. I have to go 30 miles in the other direction to pick up a pair of shoes I ordered in Ontario, Oregon. You can't buy a pair of shoes in this town... Must go at least 20 miles away.

Live your life so you don't have to hide your diary.
G'day, everyone! Happy "Summer Long Day"! The heat has finally reached New England! It's 96 in the shade. Glad I got the watering done early this morning! Bill's off at a retirement luncheon for one of his former co-workers. Don't envy him the commute to and back from where he used to work on a day like today. Haven't done much today...just having leftover shwarma fixings for supper. I sent most of you a cute thing from my Indianapolis friend. If you didn't get it, I don't have your email. If you want me to forward stuff; send me your email via PM.
NanZ - Prayers being sent for your DD and my condolences on the death of your dear aunt.
Willie - I don't have St. John's wort; used to but it died. My herb book says you can use oil made from it for abrasions, black eye, burns, and sprains. I remember reading something about using it for depression, but there was a warning on its use for that. Thanks for the tip about towels in the dryer. When I want to get wrinkles out of my clothes, I put a damp towel into the dryer with the wrinkled stuff. Works well as long as I watch it and hang the stuff up right away.
Zora - What was wrong with your monitor? You must be sick and tired of chicken stuff! I never got to the North Pole, but when we were in northern England many summers ago, it would stay light out past 11pm. It was really weird!
Margaret - I read a novel one time about Canterbury cathedral. It was very interesting. Did you have a "Pub Lunch". Loved those when we visited England 'cept I had to look for the loo after drinking a beer!!! Thanks, I'm not as tired, but the knee is kicking up a bit today. Plan on starting physical therapy next week.
Rosie - No BJ's Brewpub anywhere near here! Darn; the menu looked delicious. What did you have?
NanB - Did you ever see those green plastic bags that they sell that keep lettuce and fruits fresh? I buy one of those Foxy three pack romaine lettuces, clean them, spin them dry, and wrap them in a clean dish towel and put them in the bag...keeps fresh for at least three weeks!!! I'm sure you can use them for all sorts of lettuce. Then you won't have to go out as much!!! Do you like escarole? It's a super crunch "in the family of" lettuce. Mild taste and holds up well over time, but it's a devil to clean...very muddy.
Mabel - Is your internet server working better today; hope so! Good luck with the specialist today.
Brenda - Have fun with Drew today; you'll miss him when he's on vacation.
Mel - Checked out the restaurant menu...yum! What are the spinach balls like? If I were there I'd order them to try! I was hoping that the website would have a few recipes on it.
Pat - Don't blame you for not going out! 94 is too hot!
Doreen - Glad to read that your cast is off! Do you have to do exercises now? How's Mark feeling?
Nan - Good planning in going on short trips into the heat! I love it when I can turn off the AC and get some fresh air into the house. Won't be for a few days for us, though!
Tippy - Glad to read that your mom is better. Hope you enjoyed your lunch! Hugs!
Hope everyone has an enjoyable evening! Waving to all!
Ann
I'm back! It's 96 here, HOT, HOT, HOT!
My eyes have improved from last month, I don't have to go back for another two months! I asked when I should get my "organ" glasses tweaked so that I could see better, he told me to hold off as long as I can, because hopefully the swelling in the corneas will continue to go down. On the way home, I had to stop at the Dollar Tree, in wandering around I saw those magnification glasses...tried on a pair of 3X, and they worked!!!!! Probably saved myself at least $200! And if my eyes change, I'll just try another strength. At that price, I could get a different color for each outfit I own! LOL
Willie, thanks for the tip for drying clothes, it makes a lot of sense, I just never thought of it before!
Brenda, I used to say Disney World would be so much nicer if they left the kids at home...it seems there were always little ones tired, cranky or crying. We could never afford to take our kids when they were small, so were never even tempted!
Ann, my internet server only went out for 5 minutes so far today! Of course, unless I'm on it, I never know! But 5 minutes, I can live with!
Mel, tell your Aunt Dottie "Happy Birthday" for me...How great!
Tippy, don't pay any attention to that idiot who called you. You had every right to be upset. Wonder how calm and collected she would have been had it happened to her mother! We all love you here, you do so many good things for so many people, what she did was plain cruel.
Guess I'll turn the overhead fan up a notch and sit and read a book.
Mabel
I took my tax stuff in today and had to sit there freezing for an hour or more while he checked everything. He said unless the laws change re dividends, I will be paying 2ce as much next year.
Then I went to the store for lettuce and had to hunt thru 4 bags to find it when I got home. I have those green bags but I eat the lettuce up b4 it goes bad. I vary which blends I buy - and I buy a bag of spinach to mix in as it is good for my eyes. I think the M&M cookies I bo't will go well with it!
What's with the nosy woman scolding you, Tippy? The truth is the truth! NancyB
Oh! Thanks, Willie, for the tip about the towels. Who would've thunk, eh?
(((((Tippy and Mom)))))
Running off to town now..........we've part sun today and 24*C. Truly a lovely afternoon. My DD2 is really enjoying the extreme heat and humidity in the east. She's always cold, whereas I'm the opposite...always have been.. LOL
Only have a few minutes before leaving for choir practice. Did want to say I am sending special hugs to both NancyZ and Tippy. Sad news from both of them. And, Tippy, do talk with a lawyer.
Egee: Ranger has not been eating too much horse poop lately. I guess it is because Misty is not corraled now that it has gotten warm but is out most all day. It doesn't matter though whether it is that or anything else. I think what the Dr. said about a long valve fits his behaviour better, really. Poor little guy. He has not been eating the last two days since he got his shots. They kind of made him sick and all he has wanted to do is sleep.
We plan to go grocery shopping tomorrow so it will be a long day again. It takes an hour and a half to even get to town and that long to get back home so it is an all day thing.
I am so disgusted! First the temp. dropped to low 20s two nights in a row and I had to replant my beans. Now, they are about 3" high and a rabbit got in and demolished 1/4 of my bean bed! We shored up the fence anywhere it looked like they could dig under and this evening, while I am gone, DD is going to replant every place there is just a stalk left. Kitty-Kat is sorely missed!
Well, must run. Hugs to all.
AnnB
Good evening to all....hot/humid again today...absolutely hate this weather, waiting for fall.
Zora....can't blame you for not going to the chicken stuff with Bob....I wouldn't go either, would just enjoy the day to myself. I too have had issues with this site...posted the same post 3 times yesterday.
Rosie....good to see you....you've just been so busy lately. Nope, we don't have a BJ's Brewhouse around here, sounds good though.
Mabel.....OH WOW....how wonderful for the good report on the eyes, must be all those good thoughts we've been sending you!!
NancyZ.....sending big hugs & good thoughts for your DD for tomorrow....no matter how old they get we still worry about them.
Brenda.....we took the girls to Disney World one time, I would have been quite happy without the two of them...LOL....they so ruined the trip for me, all they wanted to do was play in the motel pool....didn't even want to go back to the park.
Mel.....sooo glad Mom brought the laptop, love hearing about your vacation.
Pat....I'm soooo with you on hating this weather....just plain flat out don't like summer....there I said it!!
Nan....yep, I'd let DH go to the car show without me too...too blasted hot!
Tippy....glad to know Mom is looking better, you just didn't need that. Now, about the lady that called you & admonished you.....ummmm, I have a word for her & it rhymes with witch.....might want to check the spelling on that though!!! You just come here whenever you need to vent....lots of willing ears! Bah....people!
Ann.....always good to see you, loved the E-mail today.
NancyB.....OH MY GOSH....laughed out loud at you & the M&M cookies to go with lettuce.....makes all the sense in the world to me!!
AnnB.....now I'll apologize to you before I go any further.....had to snicker at the loss of the green bean plants....please forgive me....I'm soooo bad!
Doreen....glad to know the cast is off, do you have to do therapy? How's Mark doing?
Talked to DD this evening on her way home, made the mistake of asking how the adorable Miss A was this morning.....yikes, not even going into detail about the morning they had, getting dressed & to daycare.....screaming match over numerous things, the major issue was the fact that she decided she was NOT going to wear those glasses today, bawled & boo hooed all morning, poor DD took her to day care & cried all the way to work.....mercy, that 2 year old sure is a determined little gal!! Sure hope tomorrow morning is better for them.
Ok, guess I've done all the damage I can do for one day. Hope everyone has a good evening, see you tomorrow.

Good afternoon ladies, Been a very, very, warm day in my neighborhood today. Ran an errand, grabbed some lunch and home.
Mel - Happy Birthday to Poppa Mel, and a "Very Happy Birthday" to Aunt Dottie. Not real big on Italian, I do love the salad and bread sticks at Olive Garden and Mario Batali. Does that count.
Pat - It has been a little cooler here the last few days, but it is suppose to warm up. It was warmer today so I guess summer is getting here full force. Sometimes sending 5 to 10 e-mails at a time is a hassel. I couldn't imagine that many at one time.
Nan - I have to agree with you. I don't like to do a lot when it is so hot. The in and out just wipes me out. Any more just getting groceries wears me out. I have let my cupboards get low. With just me some things had been there to long. I think I am going to take a day and cook and freeze in small containers where all I have to do is nuke it. It just isn't fun to cook small portions just for me.
Tippy - Glad to hear Mama Tippy is progressing. Will continue to keep her in prayer. Take care of yourself, don't get to run down. It is so easy to do. Pay no attention to what anyone says. You have every right to bad mouth the Dr. I wanted to but Mama wouldn't.
Ann - I have put a damp towel in to help with wrinkles also. Never used a dry one. I always get the green bags for any produce when I get groceries. It helps keep anything fresher.
Mabel - Sounds like things are getting better with your eyes. Good for you on the Dollar Store glasses.
AnnB - I had meant to ask if DD was working or still home? While I was without a good computer I know I missed a lot.
Penny - I have been to Disney once. There were 4 kids, 8 to 15 yrs. There were other adults also. So I tell Amy been there, done that, don't want a replay. I bet you did more than snicker about AnnB's green things. Have a good night everyone.
Hugs,
Brenda
