Good afternoon ladies, Hope you are staying cool.  I don't think the A C is going to cut off any time soon. Suppose to be 108* today. As much as Abbie loves the outdoors, even she doesn't want to go out unless she has to.  Went this morning and met friends for breakfast at Hardee's. Came back, put on comfy clothe's, and parked myself in my chair. Took a short nap. I didn't really mean to take the nap, oh well.

Zora - I would not know where to begin with computer wires. That is why I have a lap top and the desk top is in the closet.  Geez with that schedule sounds like Bob is more full time than part time. Don't care for waffle's. Only eat pancakes once in a while. That is the first time I have ever had FedEX to  call.

Margaret - What a fun day you had. The bad part of having fun is coming back to reality.

NancyB - Hope the peaches continue to ripen on the broken limb. I would think they would because it will take the limb a while to completely die.

Edgee - Oh that sounds good. Made me hungry, my sausage biscuit seems to have gone.

NancyZ - We all need de-kinking at some point.

Rosie - Loved the FB pics. I am sure the kids are having a blast. Then again you and Sandi may be having more fun than they are. I am so happy Trish's cabin is still there for you to go to. I'm sure you will take pictures of disaster and make something beautiful from it.

Tippy - I love the community cookbook's also. They do have the best recipes. I usually get one each time a church publishes them. There is new one out now I've got to get. I wish they would put "pop top" tabs on all the cans. I have noticed they are beginning to us them more.

NancyB - I got to google and electric egg cooker. Don't think I have ever seen one.

Beverly - Oh, Magic Mike is magic. Going Tues night to see it. A girls night out. Can't wait. Matthew McConaughey is a fine specimen of a man.  Been sold out here also. For the whole weekend from what I have heard.

AnnB - Fireworks need to be banned everywhere. It is to hot and dry.

Take care and stay where it is cool. See you all later.

Hugs, love, and prayers for all.

    Brenda

It is toasty out there!  Took popsicles over to the booksale to cool them down and the DD was there and told me to come back and help myself to whatever I wanted. I'm glad she wasn't there when I got in this morning and was able to purchase that batch of books. I don't feel so bad if I can actually pay for some of them. LOL

They told me that the truck (that will be boxing them up for an auction house) is coming in at 4 so I'll wait and head over there just before that. Let them sell as many as they can first.

Who wants some zucchini? Please!  ha

Took my mom some new red potatoes with fresh peas in cream sauce for lunch. She is doing well.

Stopped by the flower shop to send out flowers to our youngest son and his wife on the way home.

I really need to get more done around here but I get lazy when it's hot.

EGEE~~Thanks for the tip on the whipped cream. Very useful.

Thanks for the vegetable recipe. I will check it out right away.

ANN B~~You will have a great time meeting up with ROSIE.

I love making waffles so stop on over for what we called "awful waffles" when the kids were growing up.

ROSIE~~I am so glad that you have things worked out so it will all work for you. You may meet yourself coming in as you are going out one of these days.

MARGARET~~I saw a show advertised that will be broadcast on Tues. on PBS. It's all about England and what they found in one small town that explains it's history. Got it marked on my calander to tape.

Hubby should be home pretty soon if they let them out in 10 hours. Got my fingers crossed.

    Stay cool and safe

Hello to everyone, didn't make it back yesterday as we had a bad ole storm go through, only got about a tenth of an inch of rain, but oh did that wind blow.  Our power went out about 3:30 & didn't come back on till 9:30....yikes, no AC....DH got the generator going so we could take our showers & keep the fridge & freezer working.  DD called & told us to come in there to sleep, we decided to do just that, but DH said nope, gotta stay here with the generator & fridge & freezer....soooo, fortunately it came back on.  Lost our antenna on top of the house, lots of limbs down in the yard also, got a little more rain this morning, but not a lot, back to hot/humid today.

I've been in the kitchen all day.  Made a big bowl of chicken salad, plus had zucchini to deal with.  Made 2 big loaves of chocolate zucchini bread, froze several pkgs. for next winter & took a big ole bowl of shredded zucchini down to my wonderful neighbor, she said yesterday she didn't plant any & when I got tired of them bring her a couple, all she does is make bread....called her this morning, told her I had a bunch of the stuff all ready shredded, got the mess made, so all she had to do was make her bread.  She's the one I bum the canned green beans off of for the holidays.....LOL!

Zora....love waffles, but I don't make them, just get the frozen kind, works for me.

Margaret....Oh yeah, this guy here can eat cookies till they run out his ears.

NanB.....sorry to hear the peach tree lost a limb, hope DS can fix it right up for you.

NancyZ.....glad to know you made it home safe & sound.  Now, gotta tell you, made the cranberry cookies yesterday for DH....he loves them, told me to tell NancyZ a big thank you for the recipe....have no idea how many he ate last night, found crumbs on the cabinet this morning, he gets up in the night & munches on anything sweet!!

Rosie....goodness, you guys sure have been busy lately...sending you a big wave!

Tippy.....oh boy, more cookbooks, I'm sure that's just what you needed....LOL!  I've got too many to count, just love reading them, have taken to marking the recipes I use often so DD will have them some day.

Nan....yep, hotter than $700.00 as my Mom used to say....LOL!

AnnB.....Ha, DH tells me those blasted green beans will be on real soon.....get ready to hear me complain....LOL!

Egee....your menu sounds yummy, hope your company likes it.

DH & I going out for dinner this evening, think we'll go back to Sahm's for some more chicken stir fry, was just so good a couple of weeks ago.

Hope everyone has a good weekend & stays cool.

Beverly.....Whoo....Hoo.....been reading all about Magic Mike....LOL....hope you & DD enjoy!!

Was busy typing away the same time Brenda & Tippy were.  Was wondering where Brenda was.

Brenda......LOLLOLLOL....I should have known you'd be going to see Magic Mike....I'd love to see it.  I'm a BIG fan of Matthew McCaughney, I know I didn't spell that right....anyway.....DD & I call him Matthew Mccon-a-Heeeeey!  Broke me heart when he got married, guess it was about time though, had the 2 children, Camilla, Brazillian beauty.

Tippy....boy, those peas & new potatoes sounds yummy to me, love peas.

Ok, will try to sign off again....LOL!

Good Saturday, everyone!  It's hot here, windy, but not humid so it's OK outside.  Other than a food shopping trip early this morning and watering outside, I've stayed indoors with the AC.  Neighbors are getting their roof done, so it's noisy; those guys who work in this heat.....!  Trying a new recipe for zucchini...marinated diagonally sliced pieces cooked on the grill.  Marinade is white wine vinegar, lemon juice, vegetable oil, garlic and spices. Will post if a keeper.  Watching DD&D at the moment...love that show!

Tippy - Oh, cookbooks!  I dare not buy another single one, but I loved reading them, too!  I copied 5 or our favorite recipes for my mom to submit to the church's cookbook recipe request.  Had to hand copy them....last week she asked for 5 more!!!

Egee- Yum on the veggie salad!  I have discovered Penzey's "Fox Point" and use it on cut up veggies...just let them sit on the counter...there's salt in the seasoning that draws out the moisture from the veggies...makes a nice "sauce" without oil for the veggies.  Light and good.  Thanks for the tip on the whipped cream!

Penny - Oh, an awful storm!  Last year we lost power in the middle of the night...woke up with a start when the "noise" from the fans and AC stopped.  UGH...it got hot fast!!  We don't have a generator, and I "stress" when we lose power because I would lose so much food!!  Gads...groceries are so expensive lately...spent over $100 dollars this morning...only bought steak...no other meat.  Everything is costing at least 20% more these days. Love chicken salad. Our latest "like" is to add some Craisins and chopped pecans to the traditional mix...mayo, celery, onion.  We have a local bakery that makes whole wheat pita...love to use that instead of dense bread for sammies.

NanB - Hope those peaches ripen for you.  There are recipes for pickled green peaches that you can Google.  I never made them, but had them once...nice taste...good in place of pickles.  I bet you could chop them and make a relish, too.  I wonder if you could treat them like fried green tomatoes?  I hate wasting and love inventing.  If what I "invent" doesn't turn out, at least I tried not to waste...!

Rosie - Good to hear from you.  Enjoy your "escape" to the "saved" cabin.  I have to tell you...I used your spice blend on cauliflower that I steamed..yum!!!

Brenda - Funny comic...so "true"!!! Stay cool, friend!!  I don't have an egg cooker like NanB, but I love the "poach pods" for making hard cooked eggs for deviled or salad.

Zora-  Sometimes on the TV show "Phantom Gourmet", a show that highlights restaurants in New England that is on every Sunday morning, they show a restaurant that serves "Fried chicken and waffles" topped with real maple syrup.  Never tried, but looks interesting.  Funny...I'm the computer geek (low ability).  I do all of the hooking-up, etc.  The other day, Bill discovered that his license had expired in May...didn't get a notice from the RMV because they only do email not...he does not check email regularly.  Anyway, I went on site and renewed his license in about 10 minutes...he was going to the RMV to sit and wait...silly man!!!  Did I miss something?  Bob working again...regularly?

Margaret - Glad you had a good day.  I just read something from a booklet that I got at the market today....never wrap leftover baked potatoes to store in the fridge...spores from the soil...even though you have scrubbed them...remain and can reproduce and make you sick.  Never knew that!  Usually, I take the potato out of the jacket, but good to know.  How did we ever survive...ha!!!?

Hi, NanZ!!Wink  Got me thinking about having rabbit!!!

Nan- We don't go anywhere for the holidays now.  Used to drive in the traffic on Fridays after Bill got out of work to friends' place in NH, but they sold it.  And, we won't leave my mom alone anymore.

AnnB - Mom's 89th is on July 4th so we will be hosting a small gathering of her friends and our family...not counting my brothers...one can't make it; the other, won't.  Sigh.

Hope everyone has a great evening!  Waving to everyone!  Doreen...hope you are doing OK!

Good evening to everyone, just got back home from eating out.  Worked out really well, DD & Miss A met us, so we were able to share a meal with them, her hubby is working this weekend, so he was sleeping, will work all night tonight, she & Miss A will be out for dinner tomorrow.

DH came home & got himself 2 big ole pieces of the choc. zucchini bread, says it was good, haven't made it for a few years.

Ann.....Oh, a special Happy Birthday to your Mom on the 4th. DH has a great nephew that was born on the 4th.  Sure hope your get together is fun for all concerned.  Oh yes, chicken salad with pecans & craisins, just too yummy, I like grapes in it as well.

Have no idea what I'm going to fix for dinner tomorrow when DD comes, guess I'd better put on my thinking cap.

Hope everyone has a great evening.

Hello ladies,  Just checking in to see how things are going. I am about melted. The air has run all day I think. I'm just thankful it is working.

Tippy - It is a wonder the popsicles didn't melt before you got over there. I'm sure they enjoyed them.

Penny - Ouch, no air for a while, bless your heart. That is what I worry about now with the AC running like it is. All the talk of chicken salad I'm going to have to make me some. I love it with grapes and pecans also. Oh yes, can't wait to see Matthew McCome to me. He is a hunk. All the food talk has made me hungery. Gotta see what I can come up with.

Ann - Rachel Ray had Sunny ? whatever her name is the other day and she did German Salad Baked Potato. She put the tater in water with salt, pepper, onion, garlic, and bacon. Then she made a dressing with olive oil, chopped up bacon, garlic, reg. onions, and green onions. Simmered it all and poured it over the split potato. I think that was all the ingredients. I know it was one of the few recipe's she does that sound good to me.

Penny - You know you will fix swiss steak or that is what you usually fix isn't it. lol

    Hugs,

    Brenda
