    Good Morning:

Birthday wishes go out to our very own Nan!! Have a wonderful special day!!

Bob has got to bed as soon as he comes home.  He is getting up at 5 to go back to work.  Then instead of coming home for a nap he is going to Elberta to help a friend that was laid off not too long ago.  He wants Bob to help him cull some chickens to get rid of.  He needs to cut down his numbers plus decide what breeds he needs to quit raising.  The people coming over don't want show chickens but they just want some pretty chicken for the backyard.

I finally got the desk set up like I want it and everything working.  The sound is all working and sounds fantastic.  Now to get all the boxes empty and back where it belongs.

Thought of the Day- Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and help them become what they are capable of being. --Goethe

Today is Sidewalk Egg Frying Day. Hmmm.... Do you wonder why we have such a day?

It's July, the middle of summer. It's hotter than blazes. It's steamy, unbearable heat. Everything you touch is hot, sizzling hot. Why, it's so hot that you could fry an egg on the sidewalk.

As I thought about this day, I realized many of you will now rush out under the hot noonday sun to fry some eggs on your sidewalk. Once you do so, who will eat it!?

Have a great Sidewalk Egg Frying Day!

    Waving to Lesia!!

Special hugs and prayers for Anne, Betty, Merle, Sherry and Odell, Cilla, Cats, and Sally and Colleen.

And Don’t Forget the basket!! Keep it full of extra hugs and prayers for all that need them!!

Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!

    Hugs

Short is hiding tonight.  He dug a nice hole in the junk on the closet floor Either the people down the street own a fireworks stand and so they are using up excess inventory or they have money to burn or may I should say blow up.

Mabel-I had the music on the radio and heard all the noise but saw none of the fireworks.

Rosie-Have a safe trip and take lots of pictures!! Hope you all have a wonderful time!!

Tippy-Hugs to you and your family!! I do hope the rest of the year goes better for you! Love the song!

    Sandy-Belated Happy Birthday to DD.

AnnB-Hugs for you and your friend.  Is there any possibility of getting some type of home health care for them? Or possibly senior day care? Maybe Ranger was chasing the centipede or it got on his coat and he licked it off?

NancyZ-Glad your test turn out good.

Brenda-I guess Magic Mike is scratched off my to do list!

Cilla-Good thing you had the camper!!

    Ann-The drumsticks sound good!!

    Good Morning Everyone,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAN!   Wishing you a great one!

Margaret, say "Happy Birthday" to your DH from me...have fun together today!

I watched the firework show on TV, from our Capitol...it was spectacular!

Tippy, I'm so sorry for all you've been through.

Off to the VA, and air conditioning today!   Our temperatures last night, went down to 70, but even with everything opened up, the house only went down to 82.    I'm beginning to like winter better every day!  LOL

May you all have a great day,

    Mabel

I watched the celebration and the Pops by going back and forth.  I would prefer just to hear the musicians playing patriotic music and forget the "modern" singers and bands.  So I'm old and set in my ways.

Nan, a great day to you.  Wish I had a firecracker to shoot off in your honor.  I'd put sparklers on your cake if I had any.

I'm moving my potted geraniums into the shade for a few days as it is to be 101 today and 102 tomorrow.  I have to check peaches, too, and then I'm holing up for the day.  Maybe I should get into the pets' tunnel for cool shade.

         Keep cool (hah) everyone.  NanB

Happy Birthday Nan and a big happy one to Trevor.

Ah we still have our almost unbearable heat.

Even though we have A.C. I am getting tired of breathing all the recycled air.  I need some fresh. Even if it does have some left over burnt smell to it.

Some fireworks went off around here last night but not as many as in years past.

    Hugs Tippy and to your family. So hard to understand why;

I guess this is where we just have to have faith in the Lord.

    Prayers for you all.

Strangely enough with all this heat our grass is still refreshing green.

A light drizzle of rain this morning.  Hmmm.

This morning my stupid ole vertigo reared its ugly heed.  Bah humbug.

Fortunately I had some pills leftover so popped one and taking it easy till it subsides.

As if I haven’t been doing enough taking it easy.

Don’t throw anything at me Penny but some of your DH’s green beans sound good.  Especially the way my Mom used to cook them

From what you said  I think it was like you do.

    Good old Hoosier way.

    Yes Zora I remember Eve.

Ah so many who just stopped in for a short while.

Cilla so glad you were able to get A.C. fixed.  And not to wait a week.

We are having hotter temps here in Mich than at my cousins in  Fl. at Lake Wales..

We have even beat Miami   temp wise.

    Love to all

Morning....I'm up but sure feel like I could go back to sleep!! I'm pooped! Sis & gang are here...13 in all...not all her family...but it's MORE than a house full!! Watched fireworks from the water
after a wonderful rib meal that our chef (Nephew) cooked...cool breeze blowing on the water, it was very relaxing. When we left at midnight, the kids were fishing off the wharf. Nice full moon....

Happy Birthday to you, Nan. Hope your day is a wonderful one!!

Zora, glad you got the desk set up. I understand Shorty being scared of the fireworks.

Margaret, Happy Birthday to Trevor. Hope his day was great!!!

    Mabel & NanB...stay cool!! It's hot everywhere...

     -------------------------
This is the scene in front of my home, last night.

A hot, summers night. Explosions, pops, crackles and whistles of various fireworks filled the dark sky with explosions of streaking color. Turning slowly around, 360°, we were surrounded by sound and sparkles. A bright, golden moon  was the backdrop for a profusion of high flying streaks of flashing lights. The highway in front of my house was a river of cars n' trucks, lights illuminating the asphalt if front of them as they sped to and from the fireworks stand a block or so from my home. Fireworks exploding in the black sky over them as well. The air was filled with the scent of gunpowder.

Nan: Happy Birthday! I hope you do something special today for yourself.

Zora: We did try that one time - cooking an egg on the sidewalk. And, it worked! It soft fried and, no, nobody wanted to eat it............ Fireworks were mostly banned everywhere in N.M. except at special shows and they had the fireworks police patroling for illegal firworks  going off. Our pets never have to worry here anyway as we don't have any fireworks being set off out here.........Unfortunately, Zora, our part of the country has no home health care, hospice, or senior health care at all. Once upon a time, years ago, we did. Then, the govt. pulled the funding for it because they said the home health care nurses could only spend 20 min. between patients - and how can that be done when there are many miles between patients? One of the little inconveniences of living in the "wilds" here..........You know, that is possible that Ranger did think it might be good to eat and scooped it up. He has been chasing little lizards, of which there are sure plenty this year. Maybe some day, he will even get brave enough to chase a rabbit!

Margaret: Happy Birthday to your DH. Have a good time eating out today.

Mabel: My wish for you - enjoy the A/C at the VA today! I read a report where it is a record heat year all over the world.

NanB: I lost my two potted geraniums this spring since I had moved them to the front porch and it unexpectedly dropped to the low 20s. Oh, well, I was tired of them anyway and would like something different in the window during the winter........Say, that is a good idea. No wonder the fur babies like that tunnel. Move over, guys!

Beverly: That is a nice siggy for Nan.

Tippy: Hugs for you. It is so hard, I know.

We have something very unusual this morning - fog! It is thick too. Caused by a little shower here yesterday and now the  hot sun is burning it off and taking all the moisture out. It was our first little bit of moisture but the forecast says it is going to dry up and get hot again, no more rain. Not what we needed to hear.

We had choir practice last night and had a lot of fun. Not everyone was there so those of us who were there gathered around the piano and there was a lot of laughter and fellowshipping. Just a 'family time' and it was great.

A family here had a mishap with the youngest baby yesterday in his crib. His brother was messing around with him somehow and the tip of the baby's finger was severed and it messed up his little pinky. They took him to the ER 82 miles away and they sent them to Albuq. The parents got back about 3:30 a.m. this morning. The Dr. couldn't save the tip of the finger as it had been without a blood supply too long but he sewed it back on as a covering, the grandma said. She said it could grow back normally. The grandparents have him today as there are five other children and I am sure the parents need some sleep after their all night vigil. She said the baby is in a lot of pain now that the meds are wearing off that the hospital gave him but they gave him a baby Motrin and he is sleeping right now. Poor little guy. His name is Ivan so please pray for him.

Morning everyone!  It's cooler today, but it's just a one day respite.  We haven't suffered as much as most of you....  Had some serious thunder and lightening last night.  You probably saw on the news that the Esplanade in Boston was evacuated last night due to the storm.  They herded everyone into a traffic tunnel until the storm passed and then the festivities continued!  Fireworks are illegal here in MA, but in NH they are legal to buy, but most towns make it illegal to fire them off.  HUH!?!  Anyway, well into the wee hours of the morning, we were "treated" to bangs and booms...one firework fizzled into our driveway.  Yikes!  Police do what they can, but dealing with law breakers in a densely populated 7 miles is almost impossible.  There was on tragedy in a town in NH where two young children and 9 adults were burned when a houseful of fireworks ignited by accident.  Three know-it-all teens were maimed in Rye, NH when the bottle they had put sparklers in shattered.  One teen will lose his hand; the others had shrapnel wounds.

Tippy - Heavy heart...I'm sorry for your troubles.  Sending hugs and prayers.  Hope they can find out what is wrong with your hand.  Any chance of carpel tunnel syndrome being the culprit?  Sending regards to your mom, too.

NAN - Happy Birthday!  You've got mail!!!

AnnB - You jinxed me with the mention of that icky bug that Ranger tried to chow.  I met a similar bug in the bathroom last night.  UGH!!!  It always happens to me....actually it probable happens when Bill is making a night trip, but he doesn't have his glasses on!!! LOL.  Poor you in having to deal with it!!!

A friend who moved to Houston is visiting today.  I invited a few others from the club for lunch.  I have to get going.  Will check in later.  Before we had our little AC's, I stayed cool by wetting my hair...over and over!!!  Don't have a hairdo so I could do that.  Relief!

    Waving to all!

Happy Birthday NAN. I fried you an egg on my sidewalk to celebrate.

Yup, that's outside my house right now. It hit 107 degrees here yesterday during the parade and it's supposed to be hotter today.

Will be back to chat....I need to check on the other egg to see if it needs to be turned. 'grin'
