Rosie and Walt have a super special anniversary and enjoy your time away!! Yes today is our own Rosie's and her usually DH's, Walt, anniversary. I hope they (and Marti) have a wonderful time today!!
Bob may get to go fishing Monday on his day off. That is if it is not storming. Even if it is just raining lightly but no lightning he is going fishing. Even if I have to call his friend Glenn to pick him and the boat up. I am just tired of hearing "I sure would like to go fishing awhile." But I will fix that. LOL
Bob made the man that is so good with computers feel so good the other day. He lost the speakers on his laptop months ago but has been using headphones so all was good. He lost the headphone sound the other day so he took his laptop to him to see if he could help and they got the sound back for him. The guy rolled up to him yesterday and ask him how the computer was doing. Bob told him great. He told Bob thank you for trusting him to work on his computer. He told Bob it makes him feel useful to be able to do something for someone else. Bob almost hugged him but didn't.
Thought of the Day-Happiness is doing, not having.
Today is Video Games Day celebrating popular video games that stormed onto the market, and changed the way your kids play games. From Atari to Nintendo to Xbox, video games provide all too many hours of playing time on your television set.
In grandma and grandpa's day, they had stick horses for toys and playtime. Today's kids (big kids and little kids) have an enormous array of video games to play. Before you get tired of one game, another one hits the market.
Waving to Lesia!!
Special hugs and prayers for Anne, Betty, Merle, Sherry and Odell, Cilla, Cats, and Sally and Colleen.
And Don’t Forget the basket!! Keep it full of extra hugs and prayers for all that need them!!
Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!
On the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast!
Brenda and Tippy-Don't get me on entitlements either. Bob's last job before he went back to nursing school his last two paychecks bounced so he resigned and filed for unemployment. We had a devil of a time getting it since he quit and wasn't fired or laid off. No we weren't but we didn't do it out of the goodness of his heart either. He did get state assistance for nursing school tho.
Oh and could somebody please explain to Bob that a nice fat juicy tomato sandwich with lots of mayo, does qualify as a meal. I made him one for his lunch the yesterday and he says I forgot the meat in the sandwich!
Now I am off to bed. Bob's work schedule is wearing me out.
Good morning everyone, we had rain in the night it woke me twice.
Thank you all for the kind words about dgd we are very proud.
Today we are going to visit ds and the 3 little dgc, not seen them for a while to cant wait.
Rosie and Walt happy annivsary to you both.
Sandy thank you so much for posting my photo of dgd,I am hoping my ds today can sort my photo bucket out so I can upload them my self, if not i will ask you next time.
Mabel I have to sign in sometimes I keep my user names and passwords in a little book,I did not choose the password on here or would have done a easy one.
Tippy I saw that car on our news.
Brenda hope your back is less painful today. Rebecca will be 17 in October she is going to college to do hair and beauty.
I know people who cheat the country, sometimes I am very tempted to report them.
Good Morning Everyone,
The cool air arrived last night, it feels sooooo good!
Rosie and Walt, Happy Anniversary! Enjoy each other to the utmost today!
Flags were being stolen from veterans graves in a local cemetary. They were replaced, only to dissapear again. Everyone was up in arms about it. Well, last night they found the culprit....it was a ground-hog! The police found broken flags down his hole, and flags along the way to his hole. No one ever expected that!
Nan, I'm so glad you haven't had to use that "riding crop" LOL
Brenda, I hope you're in less pain today.
Margaret, she is a beautiful girl! I had written down the user name and password I used 10 years ago, but it didn't work. They kept saying my email address was wrong, I've only had two email addresses ever, tried each one, they didn't work. Finally gave up, tried again the next day and I'm here!
Ushered for the play "Legally Blond" yesterday, got to stay and watch it. I loved it! But it was soooo loud! Those guys are all going to be deaf by the time they hit age 40! (maybe the guy who controlls the sound is already deaf!)
I'm off to church, wishing you all a great day!
I had to sign in yesterday and again today. It is a nuisance.
Rosie and Walt: have a memorable day. Hope your wedding day wasn't as hot as these past few days have been. I got married in August on the first Sat. in the summer it hadn't rained.
Hope Bob gets to fish this week. Maybe when he retires he can fish more (LOL). NanB
Morning all. A very quick run thru as we'll be off to Elgin for the family picnic. Yes, it is Norm's side but I always look forward to any get together with them, guess I'm the odd on that. Oh well, not the first time.
Happy Anniversary!! Have a great day. We also were married in Aug, a very hot, humid one.
Matt is finishing up his dessert for the judging. He decided on dessert pizza figuring that since it has been so hot the judges would like something cool. I've got the taco salad fixings ready to go. I'm not making a dessert this year. I've won the prize several years so I figure that I'm ineligble. Don't remember who won last year, just hope that they remember the rolling pin. We pass a wooden rolling pin around that we burn our names and years on.
Cooler air came in last nite and it felt good, but didn't get as cool over nite as forecasted. DS's neighborhood held a "garbage can" cookout last nite. I stopped over intending just to eat and head on home, but the temp. dropped so I stuck around for a couple hours. Before you ask, Yes a regular NEW metal can can be used. Paul has a special one that someone made for him. There is a rack in the bottom to hold the vegies above the water, only a few inches. Then all the vegies are layed on top with kielbasa on top, put the cover on and when the water comes to a boil, 45 min. later its done and we eat!
It's about the meal that I can think of that is cooked over a wood fire that you don't do a thing with it but put it on and take it off.
Well, Matt's about done, so guess we'll load the car. Pat
Throwing daisies in your path today as your two lovebirds celebrate your anniversary. Whatever the 'plan' have a great day.
Tippy and Rich
Hope you had a good nights rest. No plans for the day, it is just to hot to go outside for anything.
Zora - Keeping fingers crossed that Bob will get to go fishing. For your sanity. I'm sure it did make the guy feel good. We all do when we do something for others.
BOB - Two slices of bread, mayo on both sides, then a big thick slice of tomato on one side of the bread, salt and pepper to taste, place bread slice on top of tomato, NOW, you have made your LUNCH. Who in the world needs more. Unless it is another sandwich.
Margaret - I'm sure you enjoyed your visit with the DGC today. That always seems to put a smile on our faces. Rebecca is certainly a beautiful young lady. Wonder if we could manage to get her and Drew together. lol
Mabel - Well I'll be. Never heard of that before. I am glad they found the culprit. I loved the movie Leaglly Blonde. Bet it would make a good play.
Pat - Enjoy the family reunion, hope it is inside. Wonderful idea with the rolling pin. I guess if it fills up you can just start another. Have never heard of a garbage can cookout. Sounds very interesting and good.
Beverly - Don't you just feel like a piece of fly paper when you have one like that flying around. Interesting about the stars. Maybe I need to look up more ofter.
Gonna get up and see what's for lunch. May try a recipe I found on Pintrest. Sounded good. Cook your chicken ( boneless ) , use a tube of crescent roll's. Place a bite size piece of chicken on a piece of the dough top with grated cheddar cheese. Roll up and seal good all around. Spray your dish, place chicken pockets in dish. Mix a can of cream of chicken soup and a soup can of milk. Pour over chicken and bake. Really sounds good.
Have a great day. Be safe and stay cool.
Hugs, love, and prayers for all.
Rosie and Walt - I hope you have a wonderful day. Do something special and make a great memory. Pictures are required. Well, some pictures anyway. lol
Hugs, love, and best wishes to you both.
Happy Anniversary to Rosie & Walt. Enjoy your day and may you have many more anniversaries to come.
Oh what a beautiful day it is. It's middle 80's but after the 100's we've had this past week, even this feels so very good. Have a breeze which is also helping. We got to 105 yesterday. Enough already.
Mabel & NanB, is it possible you've cleared your cookies or that your computer is set to clear the cookies/history each time you shut down. I don't sign out and haven't had any trouble except one time when I cleared the history and cookies and everything got wiped out and I had to sign in to everything again. After the changes the last time TOH did and I had trouble getting back on, once I did, I've never signed out of here since.
Tippy I did see that car flipping when it went over the buckled pavement. Haven't heard of any serious buckling around here, hopefully none. Seems to be many more accidents though. Was a bad one that closed off both sides of the Interstate yesterday for awhile.
Brenda hope the back is feeling better today. If your feet, legs or back hurt it seems you hurt all over. Hope you're able to find something to give you relief.
Brenda I make that recipe, with a few minor changes. It is oh so good. I cook a whole chix and cut it up, freeze it and when I want to make these, they are called "Cheesy Chicken Roll Ups", I take out some chix, add some grated cheese and mix together, place in the crescent and roll up. I open up the soup, heat it up and add a bit of the cheese to the soup mixture along with a bit of milk, pour over the rolls and bake. I don't know how well the finished product would freeze but I have had left overs and kept in fridge for several days.
Entitlement--State Aide--whatever you want to call it. Yep don't get me started on that one either. I know someone who is "cheating" and because it would cause ds and his kids more grief, I have avoided turning her in but oh how I would love to.......ds is divorced from her.
Penny hope the wedding went ok and you guys didn't get too overly hot. Did Miss A's dress stay white? LOL
Have a great Sunday everyone.
Happy Anniversary Rosie & Walt!!!!
We are in San Diego, finally. Let the drama begin..... Leaving Tues for Oregon. Hand is still funky,oh well.
Love and hugs to you all,
Good evening.....whew, talk about one tired ole gal, LOL....may not do a darn thing tomorrow.
Now, I have got to tell you my nieces wedding was the most beautiful & awesome wedding I have ever attended, plus hotter than double **ll! It was sooo worth the heat though, food was wonderful as well. Her cake was the most delicious white cake I have ever eaten. Sister was telling me that she had to drive an hour & a half to get the cake, had to line her windows with aluminum foil, pad the cake when she got it in the car, plus have it cooled before cake went in, amazing, DD said that will probably be Miss A's cake for her birthday. I even fell off my diet to eat a piece, it was heavenly. Hopefully my DD will have some pictures of the wedding she can share.
DH's family reunion....both days of it....were very nice, went to the brunch this morning, told all the travelers good-bye & safe travels.....got it taken care of for another year, you'll probably have to listen to me whine about it next year...LOL!
Zora......Now, that tomato sandwich is a keeper around here, DH & I both love them.
Nan....yep, Miss A did real well with her white dress, I was surprised. She met a new friend, little girl that was the flower girl, they hit it off & played all evening.
DH all snuggled in his chair for the evening, eyes are closed, nap time for him.
Rosie & Walt......here's sending you a big happy, happy greeting for your anniversary, hope you enjoyed the day.
Not quite as hot today as it has been, got up to 105 on Friday, that's enough for me.
Hope everyone has a great evening, see you tomorrow.
