    Good Morning:

Please note the two days at the top of the post.  With the Fish Fry an hour away and serving suppose to be over by 7 then who know what kind of clean up we have to do.  So we are going to use the same post for two days.

Now Sunday is our sweetest couple around anniversary.  So please let her know what a happy day we hope she and Rich have.  But wait till Sunday to tell them.

Please keep the victims of the shootings in Aurora CO and their friends and families in your thoughts and prayers. Also the young man that did the shooting and his family too.  Now that being said I do hope he is punished for his crime to the fullest extent of the law.  The shooting was too well planned for him to be mentally insane. I don't think the police have yet to get into his apartment as it was so well booby trapped.

Thought of the Day-There should be no doubt about how today should be lived. Do it with confidence and joy.~ Unknown

Today is National Junk Food Day.  To some people, every day is Junk Food Day. For the rest of us, National Junk Food Day is an opportunity to guiltlessly eat your favorite junk food.

Dietitians will tell you that junk food is any food that contains little nutritional value. We also include foods that are high in salts, fats, and sugars. In other words, junk food is all that tasty stuff that the dietitians, and Mom, consider to be bad for us.

On Junk Food Day, you get to eat anything you want. Eat any amounts that you want, too. Tomorrow, however, it's back to a healthy diet.

Please Note: Junk food may be hazardous to your health. After all, mom knows what's best for you. Do so at your own risk. That risk includes Mom saying: "I told you so!"

    Waving to Lesia!!

Special hugs and prayers for Anne, Betty, Merle, Sherry and Odell, Cilla, Cats, and Sally and Colleen.

And Don’t Forget the basket!! Keep it full of extra hugs and prayers for all that need them!!

Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!

    Hugs

Margaret-Congratulations to Trevor on his award!

NanB-I do hope your friend continues to do well.

Tippy-Did you hear from your son?

    Beverly-What a way to start a morning!!

Willie-How is Gizmo doing after seeing the vet?  Good news on the exercises!

Penny-Both Blue Plate and Duke's are southern brands of Mayo.  I don't know if they have made it that far north yet.

Ann-The hamburger pie sounds good and easy too.

Brenda-Now I did get some Duke's sandwich spread to use on Bob's sandwiches since I do have to put meat on them or he tells me I forgot it. The Duke's is not half bad in that but I am going to see if I can find Blue Plate when we go to the fish fry in Mississippi.

Penny-Good luck finding the lamp shades!  Enjoy the trip with DD and Miss A.

    Night all and Hugs

Morning. A beautiful day out there NOW, at 68°, however it's going to get hot again.  Been running around like crazy the past few days and it will continue.  Just wanted you to know that I'm here and do read the posts and will get back to you when I have a minute.  Take care all.  Pat

Well, I finally made contact with my DD#2 who lives in Aurora. All the family there are okay. I hope you have heard from your son, Tippy, and he is okay also.

Zora: We will certainly thank you for opening every day and who cares if you post for two at once! Not me! Have a good time at the fish fry and don't let them overwork you!

Margaret: Nice photos. We USED to start school here after Sept. 1st but then the powers-that-be decided our kids needed more schooling and less vacation time so now it lets out later and starts earlier.

Don't have much time. I have a fire meeting at 9 a.m. so am guzzling my wake-up cup and just saying a morning hello to everyone for now. Maybe I can catch up later.

    Top of the morning friends.

What a lovely day we had yesterday. Just got in the vehicle and drove to wherever the next turn took us.

ROSIE~~Beautiful backroads and so many photo ops. I thought of you. Of course I forgot my camera!

We did a relatively small loop through our state and stopped at some very unique places along the way. Found a place that had 'pick-your-own' blueberries so we spent some time in a massive blueberry orchard.

Hit one place we have been wanting to see since my DB told us of it.
"Doc's Harley Museum, Shops and Eatery"  Wonderful!

Thought about WALT! He would have had a great time. Lots of history there.

They have cars too and I found one that had a pricetag on it of $125,000. Told hubby that if we were rich I would be whining, "This would make a great anniversary gift."  LOL

ZORA~~Fun to have the fish fry but 'blech' on the clean up. Enjoy the get-together.

Heard from our youngest and they were tucked in bed when all that happened. I worry since they are the kind of people who would go out late and stand in line to see a movie or concert. They said the whole community is just reeling in shock. Sad, sad and a very sick, twisted person who did this. My heart just breaks for those involved and affected.

He said they are cancelling the movie in many places around the world. Haven't heard any news recently. Is that true?

Oh MARGARET~~Thank you so much for sharing the pics this morning. Love them both. Do you know who it was that was carrying the torch when you saw it?

    Congrats to Trevor!

    Prayers for your friend.

ANN B~~It was my DMIL's birthday yesterday too. Must be that great people were born on that day. 'grin'

We were back in time to go over to celebrate with her and most of the family last night.

I'm thankful all is well with your family in Aurora.

WILLIE~~How is Gizmo doing today? Poor baby. We feel so helpless when those furbabies are not well. Gentle pets when you get Gizmo home.

PENNY~~Have a wonderful time!  Should be some good stories when you get back.

PAT~~I'm glad that you check in with us. 'grin' We tend to watch out for one another around here. Have a good time in all the running. Take care of yourself too.

We are heading to Amish territory this morning. They have a lot of shops there and one of my favorites is their bulk grocery store. They carry several gluten free items in bulk that I use for a LOT cheaper than the name brands in the healthfood aisles. That and basic baking supplies are so reasonable.

Talk to you all later. Have a wonderful day.

    Good Morning Everyone,

Zora, I hope you have a great time with lots of help!

I watched a program last night on the Colorado victims lives, it was so sad, those poor families.    Wonder how many years and how much tax-payers money it will take to convict this murderer?     You don't want to know what I would do to him!

Margaret, I pray your friends operation goes well.      You certainly "lucked out" in gtting out of the eye clinic before your appointment time!    Good for you, that's never happened to me!

Today would be the perfect day for me to go out and weed the flower bed, all I have to do is talk myself into it!  LOL

Wishing you all a great day,

    Mabel

    Morning.

First off let me wish   AnnB a Very Happy Belated Birthday.

The temps are rising again and I"m starting to "melt" again along with all the bushes and flowers around here.  Forget about any green grass.  The only thing green is the weeds.

Penny safe trip today.  Hope you find what you're looking for.  I need to do that and find a new light for over the kitchen table but have no energy or desire to be out and about in this weather.  I'd gotten a certificate for a free lunch at one of our restaurants so we went there to use it before it expired and got gas in the car.  Headed right back home.   I'm hoping my hearing was a bit off last night and I heard our weather man wrong.  He said he doesn't see any relief for the next 6 weeks.......

Beverly, I know, I know, but we're just not used to this type of heat along with the humidity in this area.

Tonight we have to go to ds for youngest dgd's birthday.  We're going to get her a DQ cake.  Decided we'd just travel a bit out of the way before we head to ds to get the cake then straight to his house instead of going after it today.  Less trips in this heat the better for me.

Dh says he's still going to the car show tomorrow.  I told him I'm thinking about making the dish to pass and he can just take it with him.  He said, ok he wasn't sure I'd want to go with the heat, saying close to 100 again tomorrow.

Monday morning, one or both of us are going to have to make an early trip to ds.  Long story, but when the pipe broke in March and they had all that work done, he got water in the same spot last week.  The contractor who did the work put a sheet metal screw right into the water pipe and it's been leaking since then, finally burst the beginning of last week so now he's back to having repairs done and he says this time NO ONE is coming in the house without anyone there watching what they are doing.   Plumber said it'd been leaking from the start and the water finally rusted the screw off and that's why it finally burst. He took a picture of the pipe and screw and the plumber left it for him for "proof".

Need to go out and give the roses and ferns their drink of water for the day and better get going before it gets much hotter here.

    Good morning…

A bleated happy birthday to you AnnB!!  Sorry I missed your special day.  Thought the water problem was all settled.  Was working on the pictures from our trip and the blog yesterday, reliving those magic moments.  OUCH, didn’t realize, or more like it didn’t remember your DD lived in Aurora, so thankful they are ok.

Wow, now when I fly through I will really be flying.  Totally non-techie but we switched to a bundle deal that included high speed fiber optics for the computer.  Went from 1.5 something to 8.9 something.  Sure is nice, even if it took him all day yesterday to do.

Zora, hope the fish fry is a fun time!  Will do my best to uphold National Junk Food Day … will be hard but I can do it.

Margaret, congratulations to Trevor, a great achievement that is appreciated, I’m sure.  Loved the pictures of the torch and of course “our” Trevor getting his award.  Wonderful medical news from you!  Prayers for your friend.

Pat…stop for a sec….HUG…ok, you can start running again.

Mabel, you won the prize for sure.  Yummy bread tastes much better than a bingo card.

NanB, welcome to Texas – grin.  You could have saved the cost of the plane ticket and stayed in Florida for those temps!  Interesting about the weight and the spine.  Good thoughts for your friend.

Ann, you can keep the borscht, I’ll take an extra helping of the pizza though.  Was force fed beets in post war England and never have eaten them since.  Thanks for the crust “recipe”.  Instinctful chef is too much for my southern mouth…ok if I just call you a stinky chef?  LOL

Tippy, I thought of your son and of Shannon when I heard the news.  Do hope all is well in their world.  Just read today’s post and see everything is good…thank you God!  Forgot your camera????  Aieeee, touring that beautiful state you live in and forgot your camera??  Frowning in your general direction.  So paint us verbal pictures of that blueberry farm, the museum, etc.  Love Amish bulk stores.

Beverly, Mother Nature is a witch (excuse the mis-spelling) in the morning.  Is there a reason DD thinks she needs to wish you good morning at dark o’clock?

Nancy, during the first good rain after the drought last year I think most of Texas was out dancing in the rain.  I stood on the patio and just did a Maria Von Trapp move with my arms outstretched and turning.  Willing to do it again too, getting some but can always use more.

Willie, how is Gizmo?  Hurts us when our babies hurt.

Penny, what plans did DD make for you today?  Are you getting to spend the day with the Adorable Miss A?  Should have known you would be back to explain the new plans.  Have a ball.

Nan, grinding teeth over the guy that was supposed to be a professional messing up a fix like that…he should know better!  You are the smart one to stay cool in the heat.  Never had a DQ cake but love DQ so I know it is good…happies to your DGD.

Brenda, oh I was out in the rain splashing in puddles with you as a kid.  Loved it and a little mud never hurt anyone…when Mom lived on the lake they lowered the water every couple of years so the homeowners could clean their beaches etc.  You can imagine the yuck that was left the first couple of days…my kids and nephews loved their mud baths and a trip to mom’s was always a must during that time.

Hi Cilla…still giggling a bit over an email I received.

Staying out of our heat today…will work on the next blog post, this one I think will be our trip to the Indian Reservation to visit a beautiful Catholic church and the Inn of the Mountain Gods for good food and gambling.  Then again maybe I will just nap.  Whatever you do, have fun!  Hugs and prayers to each of you because YOU are loved!

Mmmm. Love the aroma, love the taste.

Nary a child has tromped through the back door. They all stayed the night with my Son. Now if I could just figure out how to stop the puppy from yipping, barking, whining, howling, barking, yipping . . . . . . . .

Depending on who you are, news is good. Being myself, I'm not over-joyed, but will deal with it as must DD. My g-sons "seed" donor is looking to move to our town and find employment. Mind you, my g-son turned 10 last month and to date, the "seed" donor has yet to pay one penny of court ordered child support or help with anything throughout his short life. G-son only met him about 2 years ago and is enthusiastic over this. He has wanted a "dad" so badly.

Oh, the news gets better.  His little sisters "seed" donor is getting out of prison and will arrive on a bus this coming Tuesday evening. This man is nice enough, per se, he's a con man and thief. Not violent. He was arrested at the hospital within minutes after my g-daughters birth. A very few short years later he got out on probation, started his lying and stealing again and 7 months later, was sent back. It was his third strike and this now, 40 y/o man, is coming back. Seriously, I doubt he's learned anything. G-daughter is ecstatic, also. She is in contact with the other grandma who lives 20 miles down the road and is a very nice woman.

Rosie - I'm enjoying your blog. Yes, there is a reason DD texts me so early and, usually, I'm up. She is a heavy sleeper and does not always hear the alarm clock blaring just inches from her head. If I do not hear from her by 6:30am at the latest, I go pound on her bedroom window.

My son came early this morning and did some weed pulling, watering, taking the heavy shopping bag of the jewelry I marked for the fall Jr. League sale to my trunk.  Then he cleaned out my cleaning gal's stash of supplies, which may earn her wrath. Now he has gone on his way and I'm holed up for the day.  Exciting, huh?  NanB

Good morning ladies,  Slept late this morning and by golly it felt good. Woke up a couple to the sound of rolling thunder. Went around us but gave us a nice slow steady rain. The good old soaking kind.

Zora - Enjoy your fish fry. May thaw some out and have them for supper. Just hate to cook for just me. Sometimes you do what you have to do.

Margaret - Love the photo's. Wonderful news for your friend. Will continue to keep her in my prayers.

Pat - Slow down a little don't want you going into overload.

AnnB - Good to hear your DD is okay.  The shooting was awful. The problem now is the people of Aurora will have to pay for him being jailed and his "right" to be proven guilty. That part to me is a slap in our faces. If you are caught red handed I say they should go straight to jail and pass on a trial, and on hanging around in jail long. Send them straight to the "end" of their life. No sitting around for years waiting for it. Okay, I'll get down off the soap box. Sorry some things just strike a nerve with me.

Tippy - I always love a trip like that. We would start out and say left or right at next turn, ect. the whole time. You see things you have never seen or noticed before. With the idiots we have on the roads here I would be afraid to put a car like that on the road. So glad your son and family are okay. I would love to be going with you today. Amish country is on my bucket list. Sometimes I think I need a new bucket. I think mine has a hole in it. Ideas seem to go missing.

Mabel - Watched about the shooting also. So sad. Can't go out and weed here everything is wet. Yipee......

Nan - Happy Birthday to DGD. Love an ice cream cake. Don't think I would want that guy coming to fix my pipes.

Rosie - Good to see you this morning.  Loved the pictures on your blog. Josh is a trip on a trip. Loving his pic's also. He is one sweet guy. Sometimes I wish I could be a kid again.  Such fun times. If you got the same e-mail I did I'm still laughing with you. Enjoy the rest of your day. Looking forward to more pic's.

Beverly - All I know is yellow jackets sting just like wasps and bees do. It is a sad situation for the Grands. All children deserve 2 responsible parent's to love, raise, and teach them the things they need to know in life. Will say a prayer all goes well for them. How is your DGD the soilder doing? Hope all is well with her.

See you all later if not today tomorrow. Have a good day. Looks like it is lightening up a little outside. Won't be that way long. We should have rain most of the day.

Hugs, love, and prayers for all.

    Brenda

Gizmo is doing much better now.  The Dr. put him on glucosomine.  Usually it is used to strengthen joints, but apparently it has value to  keep urinary problems under control.  Luckily it is in capsules that I open an put on his feed, so I don't have to fight with him to get it down. Thank goodness.  It's really difficult when you are the only one here, anbd have no one ot help old him down.  He is declawed, but you still have to look out for those back claws and his teeth..  He's an indoor cat and wouldn't stop clawing the furniture, so it was either get rid of the cat or have him declawed.  I hate to see it done, but I felt it was justified if I was going to keep him. I'm particularly afraid of his teeth as I had problems with an earlier cat when it bit me, and had to have IV's for 3 days to get rid of the infection.

I spent some time outside before it warmed up cutting off spent blossoms on the flowers. Seems like it is an never ending job.  I keep thinking I will put shrubs in where my flower bed is to make it easier, but I love seeing those  blossoms.  I have so many different varieties, but I particularly like the hibiscus.

I walked up to a garage sale in my subdivision and found a pretty platter with penguins, and a Christma plate. I like to have some of those to use when I donate cookies for the Auxiliary Christmas Festival or give to friends..

My heart goes out to Aurora, Colorado.  How could an intelligent man do such a thing? We just can't understand it.  I feel so sorry for his parents, to know he would do such an act.  Can't imagine what they are going through.

    Have a great day everyone!
