    Good Morning:

WoW!! The US Women's Gymnastics Coach is upset.  He says the American gymnast that were eliminated were much better than most of the rest in the Olympics gymnasts.  But each country can only send the 2 highest scores from their teams.

Bob and I were talking about me winning the bow.  We decided to put it on Ebay unless the store offers me something different. My vision is not good enough to shoot and I am just not strong enough to pull a bow. Maybe they will offer me a couple of pieces of Lodge cast iron.  Now that I would like to have and more than likely cheaper for them in the long run.  Unless it was a promo from the company.

Thought of the Day-Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty.~ Henry Ford

Today is National Cheesecake Day. As food holidays go, this is one of the tastiest of treats.

Despite being a rich, high calorie, and cholesterol filled, cheesecake is a very popular dessert. Why? Because it tastes so good. It is enjoyed plain, or with your favorite fruit topping.

Enjoy the day with a piece of cheesecake, along with your favorite topping. If you have time, make the cheesecake yourself.

    Happy National Cheesecake Day!

    Waving to Lesia!!

Special hugs and prayers for Anne, Betty, Merle, Sherry and Odell, Cilla, Cats, and Sally and Colleen.

And Don’t Forget the basket!! Keep it full of extra hugs and prayers for all that need them!!

Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!

    Hugs

Margaret-I did Lasagna yesterday.  OK I cheated and used Hamburger Helper.  But it was good anyway.

Beverly-Thanks for the help.  I think you are right about DGD.  She accomplish her goal now she is ready to move on.

Willie-Nice of Ethan to share the fresh vegetables with you.  I am not a sportswoman in anyway shape or form.

Ann-Thanks for the Mr. Food link.  He had some good recipes.  Is he still on TV?

    NancyZ-A compound bow??

Brenda-Sometimes a do-nothing day is good for you!  Maybe everybody has melted in this hot wather.

    Night all and Hugs

Hi from up north. Am sitting here eating leftover KD mac and cheese, cooked with veggies and chicken. I added some shredded TexMex while reheating it. It's probably not a good idea to eat this just before crashing for the night, but I always get hungry when concentrating on something.

I sure feel for all those who's crops have been ruined by bad weather in the U.S. and Canada. We had a huge pourdown today as well and some farmland around us had hail. There were some fine crops in this area. Still, God is in control and his ways are not always ours to understand.

Our young GS is still in hospital. He makes progress, then has another setback and moves ahead again and takes a few steps back. This, too, is in God's control. He knows the plans he has for this young boy. We can only stand in awe at the obstacles he has had to overcome with God's blessing and pray that one day he may grow up strong and healthy. He has such a long road ahead of him to get to that point.

In the morning I plan to tackle my husband's car. We went for a short holiday and it really needs to be cleaned out.

So I guess I should get some shut-ete. DH is already long asleep.

Have a great day, all of you. Becci, I sent you an email. Would you please post a little poem to CS for me? Have no idea how. Thanks!

Am up and running but couldn't outrun a snail yet.  Have no jelled plans yet for the day but the 90's temps predicted will have any errands done in the morning.  I can't think of anything I HAVE to do.  I lead such a frantic life!  NanB

    Good morning all,

Whew it’s been a long walk back.

    Has been so hot out.

I stopped off in cave for awhile.  Stayed longer than I intended to.

Did a little redecorating while there. Hope you all like my new fixtures.

So many to talk to but just a big group Hi for now.

    Love to all.

I did bring my Poncho to keep me company though while there..

    The computer swallowed Grandma,

    Yes, honestly it’s true!

    She pressed 'control and 'enter'

    And disappeared from view.

    It devoured her completely,

The thought just makes me squirm.

She must have caught a virus

Or been eaten by a worm.

I've searched through the recycle bin

    And files of every kind;

    I've even used the Internet,

    But nothing did I find.

In desperation, I asked Mr. Google

    My searches to refine.

The reply from him was negative,

Not a thing was found 'online.'

    So, if inside your 'Inbox,'

    My Grandma you should see,

Please 'Copy, Scan' and 'Paste' her,

And send her back to me.

This is a tribute to all the Grandmas & Grandpas, Nannas & Pops, who have been fearless and learned to use the Computer.........They are the greatest!!!

    Good Morning Everyone,

JP, I love the poem!   Thanks for sharing, and Rosie, thanks for posting it.

Nancy Z, The next time I make Deviled eggs, I'm going to follow your directions exactly.   (Mine usually end up as egg salad!)   Do you crack the shells before you plunge them in the ice water?

The wedding on Saturday was lovely.    And, on top of my fee, they gave me a $50. tip!  Wow!   No one has ever given me a tip before!    (I hope the check doesn't bounce!  LOL).

I wore a new blouse to church on Sunday, it's dark green and navy with a little silver thread running through it.    Well....that little silver thread was itchy!   Didn't feel at all itchy until I had it on for awhile.    By then,  I wanted to just tear that darn thing off , unfortunately I didn't have any Victoria Secret underwear on, so decided I just better keep on scratching!

As I was watching the Olympics last night, I thought of all the heartbreaks that are felt.   One little mistake can undo months of perfection.    I just wanted to hug them all.

Wishing you all a great day,

    Mabel

Good morning, All! 'Tis a gorgeous day here again, cool enough to be comfy and clear blue skies overhead.

Zora: What brand of bow is it and what poundage? I could use a new one. My 35 lb. fiberglass Sidewinder is pretty old. I do have my DH's Bear bow but it is 50 lb. and too hard for me to hold once I have pulled it. I would like to have a Compound bow but don't shoot as I used to. DH and I both won trophies from back when we were competing in shoots. I have inquired about some bales of straw for target shooting so DD and I could get back into shape again, but there aren't any available anywhere around here and bales of wheat are $12! Bales of hay are about $8 this year but guess that is what I will wind up getting.

Beverly: She had THAT in her room! Yuck. I don't like snakes.

Please don't shoot me but neither DD nor I are sports fans and haven't been watching the Olympics. I have seen clips of the ceremony and get who has won what on the news and that is enough for me.

Walked into my bathroom this morning and heard a thumping under the house and smelled a rodent. They have such a musky, moldy straw smell! I am sure chipmunks have found a way under so will have to go out this morning and find out where they are getting under the house and see about fixing it. Will ask DD to open up the access door and shove some Norway rat bait under there too. We tried rat traps but they can drag those away and I have had them leave their tails in them in order to get away. Ugh.

Today will be busy for me. I have to get our laundry done, get my lesson ready for this week's Bible study, check the car oil for tomorrow's trip to what we call the 'Big City' (Albuquerque), etc. DD is going to bathe Ranger for me as he has been working on his feet and legs again and probably has those chigger looking bugs once more. I have to figure what meat to take out of the freezer for tonight. Also clean the kitchen floor from the mud clods brought in from the last rain. DD has never learned to clean her feet off properly when she comes in from the barn!

I told the girls at church that I might have to call and postpone our Bible Study if I get hung up in town on Tuesday. If that happens, we will have it on Friday instead of Wed. It will be our last study in Acts so will need to decide what we would like to study next. I told them last week to think on it so will see what they come up with. It would be nice to have a Beth Moore study like we have had in the past. Do you know her studies? She is really good and can be humerous too.

Well, guess it is time to get off here and get busy. Don't look for me for a day or two and behave yourselves! Especially you, Rosie! LOL!

    Here I am BRENDA! 'grin'

Our days have just spun past us. Hubby was off on Saturday and we were on the move. Yesterday it was worship service followed by birthday party for Flying Yolanda and then the prayer group met at our house.

Since we do a once-a-month "Visit Night" we didn't stay here long as we branched out to visit shut-ins and those who haven't been able to get to church lately.

Oh BTW~~The kids, ALL of them, loved the cake. They 'played' with it. I'll post pics in a bit. She also wanted matchbox cars for her birthday so we got her a set of matchbox cars and a cool storage bag that makes up into a racetrack/ramp to 'drive' the cars on. Every kid in the place was gathered around it and playing. Smile

Today I have meals to take in to people who are on our list. One is our youth pastor's wife who is on bed rest after almost loosing the baby she is pregnant with.

When Rich gets home we have canned foods to deliver to people. We were blessed with pallets of canned veggies from a canning company to distribute to those in need.

Sooooo, it's been a tad bit busy around here. We do have some R&R time this week when he takes a day off and we go to the State Fair on Thursday.

NANCY Z~~We drove in light rain in Waushara County and by the time we got close to our place it was bone dry.

Hey ZORA!  Congratulations. Either way, use it or sell it, it's a good thing. I used to love archery but not with a compound bow. I did the old-fashioned bow and arrow. Hubby has a compound from when he used to bow hunt. He has given that up (sigh) so it sits.  Does Bob know it's fun to bow hunt carp? 'grin' A new form of 'fishing'.

WILLIE~~What great neighbors. Well, lets hope the mom knew that the little boy was giving you all the vegetables. LOL

Speaking of nice gestures....MARGARET~~Fresh homemade bread? Ummmmm, What a great friend you are.

JP~~I can only pray for that precious grandson of yours but I want you to know that I do it with faith and confidence in God's plan for him. Do you remember me talking about my God-son and his wife Kelly? I had asked for prayer for Kelly when she had a goofed up surgery a little whiie ago and almost died.

Well,  My God-son was in terrible shape when he was born and in the hospital for a looooonnnng time. He is the one who is doing a ministry in Northern Wisconsin for young people now. God had a very special plan for him and I know He does for you little guy.

NANCY B~~You do bring a smile to my face. Enjoy that hectic day and stay cool.

SANDY~~I'm sorry that the cave swallowed you for an extended time. You are missed dear friend.

Is Poncho a real bird? He is beautiful. One of the places that I visited at last night had a black crested 'something or other' (sorry) and he was crawling all over my friend and I. Lovely bird and so intelligent.

I don't remember you mentioning him before but then my 'rememberer' is getting rusty.

ROSIE~~Get the rest you need after all the running you have been doing but don't stay in that cave too long. Do tell us if you enjoyed SANDY's new decorating in there but then leave and join the world on the outside soon...PLEASE.

I don't want to have to come there and kidnap you but will do it if neccessary. A week at "Tippy's Spa and Treatment Center" may do the trick.

BEVERLY~~ I heard such stories from DH when he was in service about people trying to "get out".  I feel so bad for her. From the outside looking in......She has been searching for something for a long time now. I'm sorry that it has gotten so ugly in her life and I can only pray she finds peace in her heart.

JP ~~ Loved the poem.  ROSIE ~~ Thanks for posting it.

ANN B~~Hubby has been slowly taking out the chipmunk population. His aim has gotten better. 'grin'

Hay and straw bales around here are terrible too. Not a good year all the way around for any farmer. They were saying on tv that the State Fair won't even have a good turnout of animals in the fair because they are in stress and the owners won't enter them.

I am impressed at your wanting to get back going with the archery.

I need to get in my kitchen and start cooking and baking.

    Waving to everyone.

The Flying Yolanda ran and got some of her other horses and by the time they were done that cake was filled with horses frolicking in the frosting pasture.

The big hit were the edible candy rocks.

Oh and my DD's family couldn't be there. Turns out the the little guy got a rash last week and by Friday my DD took him to the doctor. He has "Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease".  He is miserable and the whole family is in quarantine. I called ahead, left cupcakes on their porch and that was as close as they got to celebrating with the family.

    Okay, back to work.

I should not be sitting here. A light breeze is blowing and the sun is to heat the day up to triple digits. I should not be sitting here. Zucchini is in the fridge, avocados on the table ripening and bananas darkening on the counter. I should not be sitting here. Family wants bread and I have three options before it becomes way to hot in the house to even contemplate turning on the oven. Zucchini, avocado or banana bread.

Zora - Two great options. Make a deal of some sort with AnnB or see if they will trade cast iron cookware. Hm, or, if your deal making with AnnB, maybe you could switch it for the proper poundage she needs then do your deal making. Just a thought.

Margaret - what flavor of bread are you making?

Nouder - (shaking head) I don't know what the future holds for your young g-son. He is a fighter. Hugs to you all.

NanB - Lol. Slow down woman.

Sandy - Rosie - what's going on with you two? Hiding in the cave. Sun is bright, weeds are green, fur balls want attention, git out and ignore everyone else.

Mabel - Lol. Uh, have 'ya donated the itchy blouse, yet?

AnnB - (chuckling) Yes, she had "that" in her room. Takes after her 'ol Gigi.

Tippy - Gal, that cake is absolutely cute and fun looking. What did you use to make the brown path? How the heck did they catch "Hand, Foot n' Mouth" disease? Yeah, she is 100% alone and no one to share with. She joined, not for herself, but for the family she lost. Below is what she posted oh her face-book page last night. Gives a bit of insight to the depth of her despair.
