Good late afternoon, everyone!  It's hazy, hot, and humid today with an ozone warning for those with lung ailments.  AC and fans doing a great job at the moment.  Earlier today I had to do a DB errand that meant driving across town to pick up some scripts that were written when he got discharged from the hospital, driving back to my side of the river, getting them filled, and then driving back to his place to deliver the scrips.  Grrrr, traffic on the 495 was backed up with vacationers heading to the coast so I drove thru the city twice.  We have a certain class of citizen or non-citizen (illegal) who think that red lights are OK to drive through.  Gads!!!  Ah, it's nice to be home...!

Waving to everyone!  Zora, sorry your shrimp got overcooked!  Bummer!  AnnB - wow, what an experience... God sent, I'm sure!  Hope everyone has a great evening...hope to be back to chat tomorrow or Sunday.  Thanks for your friendship; it's greatly appreciated!

My son wants to come tomorrow to pick peaches and I told him to wait until Saturday.  He said, "Tomorrow IS Saturday."  Can any one of you tell me which day I lost?"  NanB

Good evening to everyone, DH been napping in his chair.  Those pain pills just knock him silly, no energy & can't stay awake, he was in the house by 5:00....I said WHAT?  Couldn't believe it.

Brenda.....nope didn't get my toes....LOL!  Now, about this water melon, it's not that I dislike it, I just wouldn't walk across the street for a piece, DH brought one home a couple of weeks ago, said it was seedless, he cut into it & it was full of seeds.  We cleaned it real good, sliced it & put it in the fridge, he enjoyed it to snack on.

Ann.....it dawned on me that you had asked how I made meatloaf, I use cracker crumbs & not bread crumbs to hold it together.  Mom used to use oatmeal every once in a while.

NanB.....have you found your day yet?

Had another meatloaf sammich for dinner, more tomatoes & cottage cheese, good stuff.  Don't know where we're going for dinner tomorrow evening, guess we'll talk it over tomorrow.

Guess I've gone on long enough, hope everyone has a good evening, see ya tomorrow.

    I'm back!

Yesterday was just plain fun. Usually my DH and I go alone (these past few years) but friends who have never been there wanted to go to the State Fair this year. We figured, since they are younger than us, that they would want us to just take them, kind of show them where things were and then 'lose us' and do their own thing. Turns out that they hung out with us all day.
They both complained yet today how tired they were. I just had to smile.

They came late to the memorial service and didn't offer to help today either. Didn't know that we would wear them out like that. LOL

Hubby had to work today as it's an 'all weekend' work load so he couldn't get off for the funeral. It was very touching. Her fingerprints were all over the message to her family and friends. Place was packed. This world lost a beautiful soul.

NANCY B~~Don't ask me. My days are so mixed up. I've thought the past two days were Friday and today was Saturday and Rich went to work today thinking it was Monday.

ANN~~Unfortunately those people are everywhere. You really have to drive defensively.

I hope things keep getting better for your brother. Are you always going to have to be the one who does his running for him or do they think he will be able to function on his own someday?

Oh maaaannnnn ZORA. Stinks that the shrimp weren't perfect. That is a good price for shrimp. I don't blame you for wanting to stock up.

I can definately appreciate Watermelon Day. YUM!

It's hard to find a good old fashioned big long watermelon with seeds in them anymore. I miss the seed spitting competition. 'grin'

When Rich came home from his very last leg of military life, he came from GA and filled an old car, purchased just for that trip home, completely full of watermelons. He was giving watermelons away to everyone he knew when he got home.

    Good memories.

MARGARET~~I'm afraid we haven't seen the worst of the grocery price increases. They have been saying that the real affects won't be felt until next year. eeekkk!

ROSIE~~Sounds like a perfect trip. Now stop 'whining' and pass the peaches.

Wished I could share tomatoes with everyone here. That's the only thing holding on in our garden. Smaller than usual but lots of them.

SANDY~~Our gas prices jumped 20 cents in the past three days. Crazy. I've been told that we have to curb our chasing from here on. "Now.......Please explain "chasing" to me dear."  Guess if I don't consider it chasing than I can go ahead and go. ????

Do tomatoes bother your mouth if you eat too many?

Love Max and Erma. What a great piece of art.

NANCY B~~I don't know if Ben Gay will help you but I can almost guarantee that Marvin Gay would help. Put on some of his music, pour yourself something relaxing and put your feet up. Wink

ROSIE~~I've been shopping bargains for so long that when we go to buy something frivolous for the two of us I feel guilty. Hubby is getting me to loosen up a little that way. I keep thinking that about the time I start to enjoy it he will tell me that we have to cut back. 'sigh'

PENNY~~Sooooo proud of Miss A. She really has learned quickly.

ANN B~~Aside from the great chart that BRENDA posted could you just call and ask Ranger's vet?

I want to get one of those oblong pots to cook spaghetti pasta, lasagna noodles and sweet corn in it. I need a good coupon from Kohls again.

Might as well get as much done in town as you can since it's such a treck.

Oh BEVERLY~~Cute siggy of the dog in the cup and funny, funny joke. I can hardly wait to share that one.

SANDY~~We do our big shopping in the Fox Valley which is a good hour from us. It's the only place we can really find a good variety even though we have small shops here. One of our two grocery stores is closing since 'not-so-super' walmart moved in. One more to go and they have the market cornered here. I'm expecting the tiny drug store and hardware store to be right behind the one closing. Downtown looks like a ghost town except for the bars/taverns.

We have 3 acres and it seemed like a lot of room for many years when there was nothing except a cow pasture across the road and few neighbors around us. Since a sub-division moved into the cow pasture and before mentioned not-so-super store moved in we feel crowded.

It used to be that we could go out and work in our back garden and all you could hear were birds singing or a lone dog barking. Now it's the constant beeping of forklifts and running/racing engines of semis.

Cars and trucks now zoom past on this little road which has a 35 mph speed limit and when I told the police chief that they needed to monitor it better since the sub-division has so many children, along with some parents, out playing on their bikes or out walking he told me, "They don't belong on any road."  HUH?

PENNY~~One of the things I took to the dinner today was a big bowl of tomatoes. They went over well. Also made a lasagna and it was gone quickly. No leftovers to bring home. That's okay since I had another small one waiting at home to bake up for hubby tonight.

    Indifferent BRENDA!!! SALT on watermelon?

Now throw some bacon and lettuce on that toast and tomato and you have a real sandwich. LOL

That's as good of a reason to sleep late as any. 'grin

BEVERLY~~Was it you who asked about the "road" on the cake? I forgot who asked and forgot to answer right away.

Anyway.....For the road and 'dirt' on my cakes I tint decorator frosting tan and then after it's spread on I sprinkle brown sugar over it. Really lightly to look like real dirt.

(I hear my son, the engineer,  holloring at me....."It's not dirt it's soil") LOL That's what he thinks. ha

Okay, Packer Family Night is on and I am going to crash on the couch by my Honey and see what we have for a team this year.

Wishing you all a great night

    TTFN~
