I posted my recipes that were in the Holiday Classics book for this year. One I got from the TOH regular board. Enjoy!
I sropped at the P.O. substation on the way to get my hair cut and had to embarrass myself by asking how much stamps are as I've been using FOREVER stamps for several years. Then I wanted extra stamps for Xmas, he asked whether I wantd Santa or 3 wisemen. I said, "Give me the santa; I don't know 3 wisemen and everyone in the line laughed. I was glad to get home after the haircut as it is spitting rain and is cold. Brr. I am staying in for the ret of the day, altho my lettuce is "low". I am keeping it in Tupperwear now. Nanb
YIPPEE!! I have internet! Started my day yesterday by checking the papers, went to get some breakfast, came back and no internet. Did the usual things to get it up and running and no luck so called them. There was a problem almost 50 miles away and they said that was what was wrong. At least it's back up and running now. But I should keep working. So much to do for Thanksgiving.
A belated happy birthday and happy anniversery to Margaret.
Rosie, glad you're home. Now take care of yourself.
Nothing new around here, but cleaning so best get at it. Times like this I wish I was like Penny, but just not going to happen. Pat
Good afternoon to everyone, sunshine galore around here, but not quite 50. DH outside dealing with the leaves, he's in his gotta-work-myself-to-death mode....sigh, man makes me tired!
Zora.....LOL, snort, snort, giggle, giggle.....yep, know what's NOT happenin at your place. I honestly don't know what gets into these guys....I'm telling you, it's all age related, older they get, the more they forget & crankier.....honestly!!
Margaret.....sorry, had to giggle at you getting turned around, I do it all the time, especially if I'm at one of the big malls, go into a store & can't figure out which way to get out....LOL! Nice to know I'm not the only one that does that stuff.
Cilla.....read over the recipes you posted, have always wanted a cornbread dressing recipe & there it was, sounds delicious, will give it a try. Fingers crossed that you get good reports on these tests.
Mabel....yep, that darn trash mail comes through here as well, I'm sure I've thrown away things I wasn't supposed to cause I thought it was junk.
Moira.....Oh yes, those 3 year olds sure can wear you down. I'm to have the 3 yr. old Miss A all day on Sunday, just know I'll be worn down to a frazzle when her Mama comes to get her, but, what a good time we'll have. Only way I remember where my car is in the parking lots is I have to park in the same area most of the time, otherwise I'm lost...LOL! Yes, these MEN....friend of mine says....can't live with them & can't kill 'em...LOL!
NancyB....love your MEN saying.....will have to remember that one!!
Beverly....just so sad, this article was in our paper.
Tippy....ahhhh, hunting season, great girl time!!
AnnB.....these men make fun of us cause we can't find a car or know directions, but bet you know where everything is in your house!!
Brenda....hmmmm, those livers are all yours....LOL! Yep, I got the same giggle out of the reefer comment the other day, been around it back in the day, but figured I was crazy enough, didn't need something to make me more so...LOL!
NancyZ.....sure hope you get to feeling better.
Pat.....glad you got your connection back, hate it when that happens. I wouldn't worry a thing about the cleaning.....just enjoy the day with friends & family & have lots of good ole comfort food.
I started this message a couple of hours ago, but youngest DD called & we had lots of catching up to do with conversation, time sure did get away from us. She's has today off as this is her weekend to work. Have some chicken breasts all cooked & shredded, will fix some chicken enchiladas for dinner.
Better get going, hope everyone has a great afternoon.

JP~ Could you email me? I think I must have the wrong email address for you and I wanted to reach you.
Tried to call ROSIE but it won't let the call go through. Hmmmm, don't know about that.
PENNY~~Must be the day for catching up on phone conversations. I spent a good share of my time yacking too. Did it while my computer was doing a major scan.
I was sorting papers/junk while I talked too so I don't feel guilty for wasting too much of the day. Doesn't take much for me to make excuses. 'grin'
Thanks for the recipes CILLA. :)
I'm going to attempt a few cards when my new stamp comes in. It's been on order and I'm getting frustrated that I may have to rush to make my cards. grrrrr!
NANCY Z~~How is you DBIL doing? I am so sorry that hunting is on hold for this year for your hubby and his buddy. When does Bradley expect to be up to doing as he wants? How is he doing?
Rich isn't even sure he will see any deer where he hunts. There just aren't the deer out there as the DNR says. Where I do have them is in my back yard. 'grin'
Did I tell you that I had a big buck trotting around my yard sniffin' the trail of a doe? Took a picture so Rich would believe me.
Waving to everyone.
Tippy
WOW!! That was a quick answer to the question why I couldn't get in touch with ROSIE.
Waving like crazy friend. I'm soooo glad your home. Is everything still in one piece?
Hello ladies, Thought I would drop in.
Rosie - Wonderful to see you here. Marti is a sweetie. Abbie said to tell her if she needed any help so she could catch a nap or whatever just let her know. She would be there before you could turn around.
Penny - Ended up with a burger for lunch. Got busy and just didn't do the livers.
Here is a recipe for a Vodka Christmas Cake it is really, really, good.
Vodka Christmas Cake
1 c. sugar 1 tsp baking powder 1 c. water 1 tsp. salt
1 c. brown sugar 1 tsp. lemon juice 4 lrg. eggs 1 c. chopped nuts
1 bottle Vodka 2 c. dried fruit
Sample a cup of vodka to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the vodka again to be certain it is of the highest quality. Repeat, you have to be certain. Beat 1 c. butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 tsp. sugar and beat again. At this point taste to be sure the vodka is still okay. Try another cup just in case. Turn off the mixer thingie. Break 2 eggs and add to the bowl and chuck in 1 c. of dried fruit. Pick any fruit up off the floor and wash it. Put it in the bowl one piece at a time trying to count it. Mix on the turner. If the dried fruit gets stuck in the beaterer's just pry it loose with a screw driver. Sample the vodka to test for tonsisticity. Next sift 2 cups of salt, or something. Check the vodka again, it has to be just right. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar or somefing, whatever you can find will do. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the vodka and wipe the counter off with the cat.
Like I said this is a very good cake.
Have a good night ladies. See you tomorrow.
Hugs,
Brenda
Greetings from up morth. It's a sunny day with temps hovering around the freezing mark. Yes, it's white here.
Brenda, um...if I follow through it, I'd break every bone in my body...accident prone as I am...and I'd say you suggested I try it. [;) Not a good idea!
]Tippytoes, please check your email.
I was s'psed to get my B12 shot today, but stomach was queasy so I thought I'd be better off staying home this afternoon. I've rescheduled it.
Rosie, It's great to know you are home. Now don't try going anywhere without your walker till you have the go-ahead from your doc or therapist...got it? Or we'll all come on over to gang up on you. Oh, shoot, probably not a good threat...you might just do it to see if we'll follow through.
The festivities are beginning. We've a Santa parade this weekend and the stores will be open late. For most stores this is a lucrative time of year. There's a few other get-togethers we could go to, but with the flu running rampant in this area and many others, we'll stay put. Besides, with a queasy stomach I may be next.
Have a lovely evening!
Evening, all snuggled in our chairs for the evening, DH has Jeopardy on, sure does make you realize how dumb you are...LOL!
Brenda.....OMG.....loved the cake recipe, just too funny, read it to DH, he got a big chuckle out of it!!! Not much of a vodka drinker, think you could switch it out with rum?!?!?!
Tippy.....seems as if every time I turned around that phone was ringing.....sometimes I would be in the kitchen so could do dishes etc....other times I'd be in front of the computer & couldn't get a darn thing done......just glad the girls want to call me.
Rosie.....Hi, hi, hi......oh soooo glad you're home, hang in there & do as you're told!!
Here's a funny from Miss A.....DD said she picked her up from daycare/school, teacher was playing with A today, teacher said oh, your name is Addison.....my little smartie pants said.....yeah, but you can call me Peggy!!! PEGGY!??!!?! DD & I are going.....where in the world did THAT come from?!?! Never know what's coming out of her mouth. DH said.....lord, it's Penny & DD all wrapped up in one.....poor SIL!!!
Hope everyone has a good evening.....see ya tomorrow!!
I just got done laughing at BRENDA's recipe and then I read PENNY's message about Miss A.
Thank you ladies. I needed that!
Sweet dreams
Just catching up again! I wasn't too swift on the uptake about what a 'roach clip' was! Was thinking it was some kind of hair barette or something!
Brenda: Loved your cake recipe.......hiccup!
NancyZ: Oh, thatt is what an SM is! Why, I have them all the time!
Cilla: Thanks for posting the recipes.
NanB Oh, how funny! Wish I could think of swift comebacks like you gave at the post office.
Pat: I am glad you have your internet again. It is such a bummer when you can't get on to do anything.
Penny: The statistics do show that women are the safest drivers. Bet that just burns men to know that! They will always deny it.
Rose: Yippee! You are back! Give Marti an extra petting from me for being such a good guardian for you.
Tippy: Isn't it nice to get a message right back though! I love it when that happens.
JP: Please don't get that flu bug!
Penny: Good think that Miss A was never on Linkletter's "Kids say the Darndest things!
Baked two pumpkin pies (sugar free) for our dinner on Sunday and fixed chicken in cream of chicken soup, broccoli with cheese sauce, boiled potatoes for tonight while DD took my DGD's birthday present to town and mailed it for me.
I am wishing everyone a nice resful night tonight.
