The sun is shining, air temp is ~ 74 F, and I can see the snow in the mountains out my kitchen windows......this is just the way I like it!

Yes, that's Peoria, IL. Home Sweet Home. I was born there. We moved to GA when Pabst Brewery in Peoria Heights closed. DH found a job here, Atlanta, in 1985, and here we are. We going back home when we retire. DS was 6 when we moved here. He's now 28.
No problems with the return. The lady that waited on me was the same one that waited on me when I bought the 2nd sweater and skirt. I had told her my mom was mailing the first set back with the receipt. That's what I returned today. Penneys is having a great sale. I got a $44 Briggs skirt for $13. It has a deep purple in it and I've got a deep purple short sleeve sweater that will match perfectly. I think I can wear this skirt all year round. And a zippered hooded sweatshirt for $8. That will work for running around or out walking, etc.
Hope y'all are having a great day. I need to go clean up the kitchen, load the dishwasher, etc.
Hugs and Prayers for All, Roberta :D
mapanda - forgot to ask. Are you from Peoria? DH went to East Peoria High, I went to Morton. Mom and Dad still live in Morton. DH and I lived between Detweiller Park and Mossville when we moved to GA.
Hi All - Boy I've missed a lot of chatter the past coupla days. Been having fun - neighbors have a slew of family down, including Lisa's widowed mom. They were going down to Seminole Casino & invited me to come along to "hang out" w/Millie. The 2 of us had a hoot at the "safe" slots while the rest did their own thing. Ended up $30.00 + so can't complain. Met up for dinner last nite & brunch this morning before heading home.
Bev - thinking of you - one of my pet causes. All you can do is take it one day at a time and - please - take care of yourself.
Rosie - are you posting pix of buzzards? Want them for my "bird Wall" - Big Red is already there.
Zora - she's just being a _itch
Mabel - went through the same type thing. Personally don't think drugs are the answer - sorta just numb you to your feelings. Yes, please get some help w/yard work. Am thinking of you, take care & God Bless.
Rosie again - know what you want for Scott, but enjoy your time w/him at home. I know he will find his niche. Dave did (finally). Y'all will be so happy & proud when that happens. Hugs
For all I've missed - thinking about you every day. Peace & Happiness - Peg
Well, what a nice dinner topped off by one of my DD's best creations (in my opinion)...Black Forest cake made from scratch. Truely one of my favorites. That cake is so high she barely gets the glass dome on the cake plate and tops it with more cherries just before she serves it. YUM!
MARGARET~~Love those kiddos and what they come up with.
I have a good one for you today from my DGD who just turned 2 years old. Her parents wanted to show off her Spanish skills so they told her, "Tell Papa how to say 'potato' in Spanish."
She looks straight into my DH's eyes and slowly and deliberately says, "Potato in Spanish".
Cracked us all up. She is the one who when someone asks her what her name is replies, "Baby Einstein"
SHERRY~~I am really enjoying those one-liners. Keep 'um coming. LOL
I am loving all the Siggys. You gals are so talanted.
Recipes look good. I have to look at them again when I'm not so stuffed. LOL
It's still snowing, but just lightly.
I'm heading to the craft table to see what I can get into while DH watches the Cowboys/Giants game.

cricketsshiftFirst tu all , and Grace, I see you over in the New BB post helping me, but I did listen & it did not work, I only have in photobucket 3 boxes (1) Email & IM, ( 2) is Html, & IMG code, it see no b
Yes, Paula, you appear to be missing a box. The code should read:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/ Aprilmb75/graphics/HeartRoses1.gif
If you notice when you paste html code it pastes the actual image code twice, so these parts
<a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v11/Aprilmb75/graphics/?action=view¤t=HeartRoses1.gif" target="_blank"><img src=" and then " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> must be deleted before you post. The best way to do it is to paste it into Wordpad or some other text program and delete it before you paste it into the insert image box.
Hope this helps. I wonder why your Photobucket doesn’t show Direct Link? Hmmmm… another puzzle to solve.

On the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast!
Sherry, we are having winter again tonite. Going down to 52 and only a hi of 59 tomorrow. Will have to wear long pants and a sweat shirt if I go out! It was beautiful out today, about 75, no wind and I spent the better part of the day in stores.
Could have made a faster trip shopping but my dh decided to come along. He either can't remember or doesn't know where the stores are that I shop at so I had to tell him where to turn etc. Hit 4 stores and I was so tired out I had to take a nap afterwards. Think I have somebody else's legs! can't be mine that are so old.
I will check out those recipes from the B&B later on. Always looking for something differant.
Better go empty and reload the dishwasher, didn't get that done yet today.
Talk to you tomorrow.
Beth
How about those CHARGERS
Well you know my house is happy. I think some will have to have wrist braces from High fiving all afternoon. LOL
Been a long and busy day. I logged in before we went to mass this morning and had to leave in the middle of reading the first page, then it was off and running with the game, a beading class, and dinner out with our friends at the Elephant Bar. WHEW! I think I am ready for bed! Good thing we went to dinner early, because when we were leaving about 30 minutes ago the line was out the door. Need to pick up my family room and possibly call it a night. We are headed to Tijuana in the morning to pick up our prescriptions, should be back by 2 and then do my Delphi Class.
Adios,
Doreen
Roberta (Littlelady_GA_54-f), No I have never lived in Il, but that is were my dad and his parents moved from when they came to Oklahoma. Dad was probably around 5. They lived in Mattoon, before they moved. I think grandpa's parents moved to the Coffeyville area first, and then dad's parents followed. I went to Illinois several times during my childhood to visit his relatives. I remember him telling about being in a tornado before they moved. I have lived in OK, MO, and KS. I think the reason Peoria stuck in my mind, is I inherited all the penny postcards my grandma saved when grandpa was courting her. Some of these are over 100 years old now. They didn't have much room for correspondence, but it's fun trying to figure out what grandpa was writing. They were in lead pencil, so not very clear after all these years. They had penny postcards for all occasions back then, and even some with actual photos on them. Some of hers were birthday, valentines day, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I'm not sure how long their courtship was, but there were several birthday ones. I guess he must have worked in other towns, and people could not travel very fast. I also have some of dad's school gradecards that she saved.
Some of these cards must have been sent when members of the family were moving west, as some look like souvenir cards, from MO, CO, UT, different cities, tourist attractions and even the Redwood tree out in CA that cars could drive through. I have them in a album, to preserve them. Its nice to look at them and see how things looked back then, compared to now. I can actually see old photos of some of the main streets, and important buildings of that era.
One is a artists painting of an airplane (the B-17E, known as the Boeing Flying Fortress) that dad helped build during WW11. My mom wrote a note to his mom in 1943, the year my younger sister was born. (I was 5 at that time). I can actually read this one as it is written in ink. Postage was still 1 cent. We lived in Wichita, KS. then.
I just had to take time to look through this album again, It's almost like a glimpse at the romance of a long time ago. The winter scenes look so frozen, with high snowbanks, and narrow roads.
I always thought my family was poor, but it appears some of his family must have traveled some, as there are post card pictures, of some of our popular attractions today, such as Old Faithful, at Yellowstone, Pikes Peak, Niagara Falls, Yosemite Falls. Others are oil wells (some of them gushing) and factories where dad once worked. It's a treasure that I hope one of my children will cherish when I am gone. You can tell I'm interested in history. It's funny, I thought history was boring when I was in school, but the older I get the more interesting it becomes.
I hope everyone has a good night, and that all your dreams are happy ones.
Hugs and prayers for all.
Margaret
Margaret: ;I also have some postcards and old letters of my grandparents. Postcards from Nowata and Murphy NC. It is fun to go over them and imagine the times they lived in. I have them in a box but really need to preserve them better. What kind of an album do you have yours in? Sue
Tippy, that little granddaughter sounds precious. I laughed out loud, when I read about her spelling potato in spanish. Sounds like she is a little Einstein. LOL.
I know you have mentioned that all your grandkids are girls, but I hope sometime you have some boy grandchildren too. I think mine are about as ballanced as 9 can be. Since my girls outnumbered my son, it's nice that I have an extra grandson, and Zachary is definitely my last till I start getting great ones.
Paula, there are 4 boxes under my photobucket siggies. I usually click on the bottom one, (Img), copy and paste here. Easy as pie. I hope you get your's straightened out soon.
BTW, it's allright if you want to snag the good afternoon bear. I don't think it has my name on it.
My siggie is a little bit too large, but I'm afraid the pictures won't show up very well if I resize it, and I don't know how to make them big again, after I have resized them. Does anyone else know if it can be done?
Sue, I just have mine in regular photo albums with the sleeves you can slip them into, 2 to a page.
Where is the Nowata you mentioned? We have a Nowata in Oklahoma too. It's a Indian name. I've heard the meaning of it, but can't remember it now.
Goodnight all. Hugs and Prayers for all.
I found your postcard stories very interesting. Being a scrapbooker and being very "into" archiving may I make a suggestion???
PLEASE go to a scrapbooking store (Hobby Lobby can help you too) and get Acid and Linguin free albums for your prized posessions. I'm guessing those albums you currently have them in are not acid free and they will actually "eat" the ink and even the paper.
I'm guessing that not only are those post cards very valuable in emotional ways but also have great value monetarily. You will want to pass them on to your kids and grandkids.
Even keeping them in cardboard boxes(loaded with acid) can rob them of ink and make them more brittle. There is acid in so many of the old albums especially those with that glue that we all used to use.
