Margaret & Sue, please make sure your postcards are in archival albums...like they use for scrapbooking, etc. There are also individual sleeves that you can buy to put your card in but an album is good for the number of cards you have.
We collect old postcards from our home town and things that mean something to us along with coins. I can sit for hours and go thru boxes of postcards!!
Just my 2¢ worth....
Hi to all my CS friends. I had a nice day. I went to lunch at Red Lobster but I was good and didn't order everything on the menu. LOL I had the pick two and I picked chicken strips and lightly breaded shrimp, broccoli, salad with red wine dressing, I didn't eat any of the biscuits, only ate 1 chicken strip and I brought the other two chicken strips home. Stopped at Wal-Mart and picked up a few things. We are suppose to have snow by the end of the week and Saturday is our grocery shopping day.
Margaret I was very interest in your postcard story, I still have a card that my father gave me right before he passed away in 1949. I was to young to remember many of the stories he told us and he was sick most the time. One interesting thing the picture I have of my Mom and Dad's Wedding was produced on metal, and a few years before my Mom passed away they had it reproduced by Sears on Photo Paper, it hangs above the fireplace mantle.
Paula my Photobucket account has 4 url and I use the one that Margaret uses, I just copy and paste it .
Zora the cats were calmer last night but I was having trouble sleeping, so I was up until 3AM working a jigsaw puzzle on the computer and I still got up before 7:30, I guess that is why I am so tired now.
I have also copied a lot of recipes from the BBonline site, have not made any of them but they all sound good.
My eyes are closing as I am typing this, I guess that is a sign I need to get off the computer and hit the sheets.
Tippy, there's a plastic cover on the album that I have not taken off. There's a sticker on the plastic that says, MEMO ALBUM (so it's not an ordinary photo album) 200 pockets 4"x6". Memo slots for Photo ID or Negative storage. Slip-in Pockets hold 200 prints up to 4"x6".
Photo Safe (trademark sign) Archival Pages Contain No Damaging PVC. Brand name is "Thompson". Do you think this is a safe place for them? Before I got this album about 10 years ago, they were in a cardboard shoe box. I also got a pkg. of refill sheets for 40 more pages. This was a gift I received in the late 90's.
Thanks for the information.
Margaret
Tippy, I have another question. I have some postcards that I have collected during the years from vacations our family took. Some of these are probably about 40 years or older, as my two oldest kids are 45 and 43. Should I add these to the book, to keep them in the same condition they are now? Some of them may have faded a little already. I know some of my earliest color snapshots have changed color, or faded. These are mostly of Texas, Colorado, and different states between Mo. and California. We took a different route going and coming back, so Ut, NV, Ariz. and N. Mex. I'm sure things have changed a lot in these locations since the pictures were taken.
Rose: I'm a native of MN and most my family still lives up there. Texas is ok and I have kind of gotten climatized in the last 9 years here but I miss my home!
My older daughter in MN had a very bad car accident about 15 years ago and lost some of her short term memory (I'm just glad she is alive!). She sometimes has a problem recognizing how to get from point A to point B unless it is a route she has been over many times and she has made a habit of writing everything down. She will drive anywhere if she can do it in a caravan (follow somebody) but gets a bit skittish if she has to go someplace new on her own. I'm flyint to Minneapolis and we are going to drive to Duluth, MN from there. That gives us both Duluth and Superior, Wisconsin to explore. Surprisingly, I never got a chance to explore my home state when I was younger. I never could afford to explore ANY state when I was younger. She can't afford it now and I want her to go with me so I'll pay for most of it without making her feel like a charity case. She has lunch and supper and I'm getting the B&B. Will probably pay for half the gas as well. Would explore down here but can't get her on a plane! LOL
Rasberry Almond Coffee Cake sounds really good! Just frosted my pumpin raisin bars with cream cheese almond frosting. Taking those to my overworked coworkers tomorrow. I promised them blueberry muffins but we ate them all yesterday. *grin* They were too good for work! Will make another batch or two later in the week for them.
Beth: My DD lives in Menahga. One of those 'don't blink' towns. You know, if you blink you'll miss it? LOL My kind of town! It's a little south of Park Rapids. That's a 'don't sneeze' town. Takes longer to sneeze than it does to blink and you can't sneeze with your eyes open so Park Rapids is slightly larger than Menahga (every other town in MN is unpronouncable to 'fereners').
I live in Spring, Tx and have been her for the last 9 years, Beth. But I still know where Montevideo is in MN. *grin* Grew up in Bemidji, home to Cheif Bemidji or so we were told.
Margaret: Make a copy of your siggie and resize the copy. Just add a 2 on the end of the file name before the .gif or .jpg, whichever you have it saved as. You then have the smaller one to use and you have the original one in case you might need it later. You can make it bigger again but you may start losing some of the clarity of the picture. Better to have 2 copies in 2 sizes.
Did get to go shopping today. I got 2 pairs of slacks, both pinstripes, and 2 blouses. As I get older, I am going back to the more formal office attire. I find that the materials last longer and look better a lot longer than the T-shirt type material I have been wearing for quite a while now. My DD got a pair of blue jeans and a darling jacket, She also got a bunch of tops. She is such a pack rat that we have a rule for her small closet. If she buys something new, she has to donate something old. When she moved in with me, she still had clothes in a size 5 from high school! She hadn't been a size 5 for 10 years! And after 2 kids, she never will be again! LOL It's not just clothes, it's everything. I've moved so many times, I tend to purge often. Have been here for 9 years, the longest I have lived anyplace since I left my parents home over 40 years ago. I'm picking up DD's bad pack rat habits!
Gosh! I lost track of time. I have to work tomorrow! Good Night everyone.
Vicki
