Good Morning:
Strange phone call about 4 this afternoon. The NH called and ask him to come in to work till 10. Their shifts run from 2-10. Since it was a little late to call him for a regular work day, we figure someone got sick. But far more likely somebody either walked out or was fired. Bob didn't go it as he had a fly fishing meeting in Mobile and he works tomorrow and this week-end. Maybe he will find out when he works Wednesday evening.
Bob hasn't put together my new desk yet. Maybe because I haven't started cleaning off this one yet. I've got stuff on here dating back early XP days. And I haven't run XP on any of the computers I have now. Maybe I will find my original copy of Office that I have updated every Office I use from. At least the garbage comes tomorrow so I can start with a clean garbage can.
Thought of the Day-"For attractive lips, speak words of kindness."-Audrey Hepburn
Today is Sewing Machine Day, maybe a day especially for Lois. This day celebrates a very important invention ----- the sewing machine. The first sewing machines were made in France in the 1830s. It wasn't until 1846, that they were patented in the U.S. What a great invention. Prior to its creation, clothes items were sewn together by hand...stitch by stitch.
People who know how to use a sewing machine are dwindling in number. Our mothers and grandmothers had a sewing machine in the house. They used it, too. But, look around your house. Do you have a sewing machine? Chance are, the answers is no.
If you have a sewing machine, enjoy today making things with it. If not, consider picking up sewing as a hobby.

Good morning hope you all wake feeling well.It rain almost all day yesterday.
This morning is dry to start with so hope it stays that way we want to go walking with the group.
Zora hope you get your desk up soon.
Jp thank you for the email it gave me joy to see it this morning when I turned my laptop on,sending hugs to you and the little man.
Sandy so pleased the scan was clear lovely news.
Rosie do hope the cabin is safe. Our pm does have a body gaurwhen he is out and about, not as much as your presedent does.
Mel prayers for miss J surgary goes well.yes the thing with our pm was blown way out, years ago dh was a taxi driver he did a school run for children with special needs and had a escort for them, well one escort took her baby with her one day he dropped her off, started to drive away looked in his mirror to see sara waving like mad, baby was still in the back, we are now friends with her and the family.
Tippy hope pounce comes home today.
Cilla loved your siggy, you must have needed the sleep.
AnnB yes paddy is the same as tantrum.
As anyone heard from Cheri?
Good Morning Everyon,
I just had a nice long post, remembring everyone, then I clicked on "Post", and my internet went out! GRRRRR!
Sandy, I'm so glad your ultra sound was OK, now you can relax again!
Rosie, I'm praying that fire will not take Trish's cabin...so scary.
Beverly, the dragon cookie cutter is so cute and so appropriate!
Zora, a new desk, have fun with that organizing, if your anything like me, you'll find things you haven't seen for years!
I bet if Pounce gets home today, he will be the most petted kitty in the worldI
I'm off to the dentist today for a cleaning...He doesn't know it yet, but there will be no x-rays today, I don't mind if something is wrong, but when nothing is wrong I don't think they are necessary.
I remenber when Floyd was sent to the nursing home for therapy, they had a policy that all new patients had to see their dentist. When Floyd heard this, he handed me his teeth and said, "Here, save him the trip!"
Margaret, we had a similar situation like your PM...we were at the beach, with our kids playing in the surf. Knowing that Floyd was watching them, I picked up a book and started reading. A little while later, I looked up and they were gone, and Floyd was asleep. What panic! Each of us thought the other was watching them! Both of us nearly had heart attacks until we found them a few minutes later, playing in the sand right behind us. Will never forget that awful feeling!
Well, sorry that's all I can remember, if I had known my internet was going to go out I would have made notes. Wishing you all a great day,
Mabel
My friend went to the dr yesterday and found his blood work pretty good and his blood sugar was 126, not awfully high so his pills must be working. The plan is that the dr taking off the cancer and the one removing part of the lung will try to do it at the same time so he has an anesthetic just once. I can't picture that. His wife and another gal and I are going to Panera's for lunch. I always get soup - esp clam chowder which they have on Friday.
The man whose crew takes care of my yard came and put black mulch in my flower + bird bath area, and I loveit! It makes the flowers pop! NanB
Top of the morning to everyone. I wanted to sleep in but couldn't. I have a doctor's appt. this morning and have to 'fast' and I didn't want to be awake to WANT my coffee/tea. 'sigh' That plan didn't work so I came here to my other habit. 'grin'
(((ROSIE & FAMILY)))) That's all I can offer for now. Hate it when things are so out of our control. Guess that's where the Lord wants us sometimes. Keeping the best of thoughts and my prayers focused on Trish and her family.
NANCY B~~Not too shabby of a report on your friend considering how he procrastinated. Do they think that this particular cancer is something that can be "cut out"? Will he have to undergo chemo/radiation treatments? I really feel for his wife.
Mmmmmm clam chowder from Panera's. Used to be my favorite. One of these days I'll have to fall off the wagon and go have a bowl. Sometimes it's just worth being sick. LOL
MABEL~~That story about the kids missing at the beach is scary. I lost one or more of my children more than once. My youngest still doesn't let me forget the fact that I "forgot" him at school one day. I thought he had made other plans that day and by the time I figured it out he felt neglected and took off on me. He is also the one who used to take off on me in the mall and hide. Probably why he lives so far away now. Ha!
Too funny about Floyd's teeth.
MARGARET~~I've been wondering about an update from CHERI also. Another lady I've been wondering about a lot lately is the other SHERRY. I do hope her and Odell are doing well and no more spots of skin cancer showing up.
Never heard the term "Paddy". Is it short for something?
Much to do about nothing with the PM and the kiddo. It must be hard being in the spotlight all the time. I, too, wondered about security or body gaurds. Don't they go out with any?
ZORA~~If you got the desk and chair for under that amount you did good. I hope your desk gets put together soon. Tell him you need the new one to start transfering stuff to as you clean the old one off. 'grin'
I would love one of those nice chairs too but I'm afraid I wouldn't move out of it if I had one.
That NH sure is a mess if they are losing people that fast or not having secure back-ups. Can't blame Bob for not coming in on this one. He is so good about being there for them at a moments notice that they probably figured they had it made. Surprise....Bob has a life. Hopefully they get that.
Must tell my mom that today is "Sewing Machine Day". She has been attached to a sewing machine more than any other piece of equipment all her life. She sewed commercially in a glove company all of her working-out-the-home years. Then she would come home and sew our clothing and quilts. Don't know how she did it. Probably why her hands wore out, although she still quilts.
Normally I would say, "Time for coffee" but not this time. I think I've used up enough time that I can get ready to leave. My doctor is an hour away and I'm anxious to get there early, get it all over with and get home to call the vet. Keeping my fingers crossed that Pounce can come home and will be 100% from here on out.
Wishing you all a great day. Keep looking up.
Tippy
As I understand it, part of the lung will be removed. She didn't ask if he will need therapy afterwards but I can imagine breathing exercises.
When I took my younger child to the mall, I was the one who wanted to hide - like the day he turned off the escalator! NanB
Good morning ladies, Beautiful day in my neighborhood. Going to be hot as usual. I hope the rain is moving, if not gone, out for a while. Borrowed the siggie from Jean. She posted it on FB. Think he is so cute.
Zora - At least Bob can say no to them now. With the ups and downs that place has who knows what happened. If your desk looks like mine, putting the dest together is easy peasy compared to cleaning off the one you are using.
Margaret - I just love the way our words are different and mean the same thing. The last job I had was at an indoor fire sprinkler system company. We had a job at a new mall. The construction foreman was British. I could stay on the phone with him for hours, loved his accent. Finally got to meet him and he was a dead ringer for Sean Connery. I think about him every time I see a Sean Connery movie.
Mabel - Got a good laugh out of Floyd and his teeth. Needed that laugh today.
Nancy - I think the red or black mulch always looks so much better than pine straw. Looks much neater.
Tippy - I could lay back in the recliner and take a nap. Don't know why I am so sleepy. Like you and Margaret I have been wondering about Cheri. I was hoping to try to meet up with them when they headed down the east coast. Hope all goes well with the Dr. Appt. and when you get back Pounce will be able to come home.
JP - So sorry that Little One had to go back to ICU. I know they will be so thankful when he can come home. This has to be a strain on everyone.
Guess I need to get up and do something. Kerri is coming up for the day and we are going to the Mexican restaurant for lunch. Will take Drew with me if I can get him to wake up. The kid is out for life when he is asleep. Have a great day everyone.
Hugs, love, and prayers for all.
Brenda
Brenda, the ride out of Gatlinburg you mentioned is Roaring Fork Motor Trail, traffic light #8. We always took that drive. And the time we hiked to Mt. Leconte (21 years and seventy pounds ago) we took the Trillium Trail, off Roaring Fork.
YAY for me!!! Have not walked/exercised in years. This morning I went to the lake and walked = 4/5 of a mile in eighteen minutes!!! Could have walked more but did not want to push it the first time out. Lake Junaluska is a beautiful place. Almost three mile trail around the lake. Very safe area and lots of people walking at all times. Now to make myself do it at least once a day. We have good paved sidewalks here, almost a mile round trip to the main street but it is just so pretty at the lake.
Like Brenda, I'm feeling a chair nap coming on.
G'day, everyone! It's pouring rain and cool this morning. Just got back from my MRI. It wasn't bad...only half of me went into the machine. Test took about 30 minutes; it sure was loud even with earplugs!
Rosie - Since reading your post about Trish, I have been madly praying for things to be OK. (Little laugh...I even devoted my MRI time to sending positive thoughts and prayers!!) Was she able to "rescue" some of the things from the cabin? So scary.
Anyone know anyone who is on a "ketogenic" diet? My cousin Karen's nephew has epilepsy, and medication is not working so the doctor is trying this diet. It's similar to the Atkins diet...high fat, low carb, big protein. I've been researching for her especially for recipes. Not a lot out there. I'm going to try a different search engine this afternoon...Bing. Just thought if you knew anyone, maybe they could email the mother with some tips, etc.
Brenda - last time I had Mexican, I had the most delicious grilled shrimp salad. It had Mexican cheese and avocado on it, too. Yum! Enjoy your lunch!
JR - So sorry that DGS is back in ICU. Sending more prayers for him, too.
Mel - Maybe Ms. J and I will be "twins"! Won't find out until Monday if there is something that needs fixing on my knee. I'm expecting it, but who knows!?
Zora - My desk is not bad, but Bill's is piled high. Wouldn't mind if his piles made it easy to find things....he just says, "It's over there somewhere!!" And oh, he has piles on the livingroom chairs, too!! We have a sewing machine, and I know how to sew, but don't do much...mostly hemming and repair work.
Margaret - That story about your PM was so silly. It was something that could easily happen to anyone! When my DB was a kid, he would disappear from our family group. We hated that he did, because it meant we would have to rush out of the park to the car, where he would be waiting. I never heard of paddy to mean a tantrum...I thought it was a nickname (not so nice) for "Patrick"and also for all Irish immigrants having something to do with the potato!! Learn something interesting everyday...!
Tippy - Hope Pounce gets to sleep at home tonight! I hate having to fast! I'm such an early riser that it is torture waiting for the appointment!! I'm lucky that I can get a blood test as early as 6 am. That isn't too bad.
Sandy - Whew! Glad your ultrasound came out OK. Know the feeling well!
Mabel - HA! Your Floyd had a wonderful sense of humor!! Fast on the uptake, too!
NanB - I've not eaten at Panera, but I've bought gift certificates from there. Heavenly aromas...when I go in. Very busy place!
Egee - Good for you! Walking is good! I hope this thing with my knee gets fixed so I can resume.
I have a half of a turkey in my big crockpot that I have to check....lovely aroma, good day to cook it. Hope everyone is having a good day. Will check in again. Waving to all!
Ann
Checking in to let you know that I retrieved Pounce from the vet. They said he got downright ugly towards them today. Time to go home. 'grin' Maybe he figured if that's what it took, he would try that to see if it got him anywhere.
He's been checking out every square inch of the house since he has been home. It all smells different since my cleaning gal and I did such a good job of taking away all the familiar odors. That's actually a good thing to me but he is wagging his tail like he has attitude.
Still wringing my hands over Trish. I am hoping that no news is good news. Just sickening. Very special hugs ROSIE.
I have someone stopping by to get cake pans from me so close this and check back with you all later.
Hi, again! My friend, Sharman from FL sent this to me. You may have to play it twice!
Now we know how to handle impatient drivers when we get old!! HOW MUCH $ FOR REPACKING AN AIRBAG???A lady was videotaping her son riding a skate board when her attention switched to an old woman trying to cross the street. You can hear the lady who is doing the taping giggling as she records the event. The video is a quick one .... but you'll probably watch it more than once.http://dave6.posterous.com/dont-honk-at-old-people
Prayers please. Just got a text from Rosie and Mark is in the hospital. He woke up last night with sweats, indigestion and a bit of confusion. Doreen with one arm took him to the hospital. Kept him over night to run test on his heart and/or gall bladder. Neither Rosie or I know anymore right now. Will let you know when we do.
Prayers happening now! Hugs, Doreen. Stay brave!
