...depending on the weather. (We're expecting 4-8 inches of snow.) The area Southern Baptist churches are sponsoring a training session for disaster relief workers. They are having a session on "mass feeding" and I thought I might go take the training. If there is a disaster and teams are called out, I could go and help provide the food service for workers and victims of disasters. I think there are a couple of guys from my church who may take the chainsaw training. They can cut downed limbs and brush like we had recently with the horrible ice storms.
Have any of you ever taken this kind of training?
No, but that sounds like time well spent. Valuable training.
No, but I would LOVE to! The SBC does a huge huge amount of diaster relief cooking and they coordinate their efforts with the Red Cross, et al. There is an SBC disaster trailer near where I live and they sometimes offer that training. I really want to go the next time. I hope you're able to go!!
MissEllie, my DH is a southern Baptist pastor is SE Missouri. We had one of those training sessions for our association last year (last spring I think). My DH has been involved in the chain saw training along with other men from our church. I think it's wonderful and I hope the snow doesn't keep you from going. Although I would love to have some of that snow
