  • Yarn Crafters' Chat for August 7th to August 13th, 2011

    Good morning ladies.

We had a bit of rain overnight so we don't have to water the plants today.  David just left for golf and I am enjoying my first cup of coffee.  I didn't get around to doing my dark load of laundry yesterday so it is swishing right now.  Don't tell my daddy -- he wouldn't like that I was doing it on a Sunday when it really wasn't necessary.  But I want it out of the way.

Donna, have fun in Florida.  It will be great seeing your son and granddaughter.  I'll bet they too are looking forward to seeing you.

Jeanette, 500 hours for a 50 hour sweater -- a funny cartoon could be made with that idea in mind.  Hope you are enjoying this weekend's town celebrations.  As for my vacation -- we are going to Mexico for 2 weeks.  Cancun.  A chance to practice my Spanish.

So, after two weeks of crappy yard saleing, yesterday was good.  I mostly got books though.  Three novels for myself -- haven't been buying a lot of novels lately.  A few cookbooks -- four of the community types -- she was wanting 25 cents for 2 of them -- what a terrific price and --- ta da --  lots of chapter books for my niece (soon to be 6).  I keep a list of the series she enjoys  and which ones she has -- I bought 28 more for her at 25 cents each.  The Geronimo Stilton ones have an original price of $7.99 each on the back.  She just loves to read -- home schooled and already reading at grade 2 - 3 level.  But she loves to read everything.  When we went to African Lion Safari (something here in Ontario), she paused to read the signs in front of cages that held birds (owls, eagles and such).  You give her a book on anything and she is eagerly reading it.

I did have to quit yard saleing early though -- boo hoo -- because I was meeting some women at noon for lunch.  I am on another bulletin board that focuses on cross stitchers.  Surprised that there are several women in my area.  We got together -- six of us -- a couple more couldn't make it.  Two of yesterday were newbies -- the other four were already well acquainted -- yes when it comes to cross stitching -- I am a virgin.  LOL  I will be able to learn so much from them.  They also get together two or three of them for an afternoon of stitching -- that will be fun.

When I got home, I helped David with a lean-to he wants to build beside a shed.  I don't know anything about it but we worked at it.  Luckily it is in the shade.  Possibly we will get back to it later today.

After church, I hope to go out and talk to my plants -- do some dead heading -- I do enjoy doing that -- ain't I silly??

    Have a nice day everyone.

    Hugs

    Aleida♥

    Good morning ladies.

Margaret, that tablecloth is beautiful.  Absolutely gorgeous.

Lert -- sorry you have to "frog".  For me frogging is often starting over.  Luckily any knitting I do is small at this point.

I finished my niece's b'day card this morning.  I hope to start my nephew's later today.  His birthday isn't for almost 5 months but may as well get it finished now -- hopefully when the time comes I will remember where I put it.

I have a frittata in the oven for breakfast -- my first attempt at trying this.  Hopefully it will be good.  Also have the rice cooking for chicken fried rice for supper -- heh I also unwrapped and packaged for our use 4 packages of bacon.  I separate them and put them in the freezer in groups of 4 slices.  Bacon was on sale at WalMart yesterday and it looked good -- I do NOT buy bacon if it is not on sale.  All in all I have accomplished a lot today.  Also hung a small load of laundry (reds) and took it down when it started to rain.  I'm loving the rain because I don't have to water and my plants are happy -- very happy

    Have a great day

    Hugs

    Hi Everyone

I had to have my gift done for shower for Sunday. Got up early Saturday morning before our big town celebration and finished it. Gave the sweater, hat and dress away on Sunday. Sunday night I realized I had forgotten to take a picture of it all. Drat!!!!

Margaret the tablecloth is beautiful beyond words.

Betty Sorry you have to frog. No fun been there and done that one.

Aleida It is a 5 hour sweater pattern that is taking me 500 hours. Worse yet.

Jolene HOpe Jake's birthday was a huge success. I am sure it was.

Hard to believe our school will be starting here in two weeks. Where did the summer go?

Sunday daughters and I did 49 more quarts of corn in the freezer. So all together we have done 92 quart bags. We quit. Now we are on to salsa and pickles.

Next project is a baby blanket for a great nephew due in Septmeber.

Got new computers here at work and home yesterday. Old one at work didn't have enough memory and one at home got struck by lightning. Not use to this Windows 7.

Have a good day everyone. Jeanette

Thanks everyone for the compliments.  Took me awhile to figure out how to post from Photobucket.

Donna you had asked about putting more than one picture in a post....just hit enter after the picture loads and do it all over again.  I haven't played with re-sizing yet.

Jeanette don't feel bad about forgetting to take a picture.  I made a cable, scarf, hat and fingerless mittens set and forgot to take pictures of the hat.  But here's the scarf and mittens.  The scarf has 5 different cable sections so I am showing 2 views of it

    Good morning.

It rained most of yesterday so my laundry did not dry but the plants are happy.  It might rain more today, so I've put the load in the dryer for 15 minutes -- not planning to haul it in and out again today.

I would love to do some weeding today but the rain may prevent that.  I would also like to go to the church and weed a bit in the garden there.  It is overgrown as no one takes care of it.  The goldenrod are happy there.  LOL

I worked on b'day card number two yesterday and could have finished it but I did not have a colour that I needed.  So I did as much as possible.  On Saturday, I could stop at a Michael's and hope they have it.  So if it rains today, I could pick out the third and final pattern for b'day card number three.

I also finished my novel yesterday and started another.

That cable set is very pretty Margaret.  Love the colour also.

Hope you all have a great day.

    Hugs

    Hello Ladies

Margaret the scarf and mittens are so pretty and such a pretty design on them.

I am trying to decide what pattern to use for baby blanket. Did odd jobs and catch up around the house tonight so no crocheting. Tomorrow I go to the dentist. I have a very nice dentist but still not my favorite place to go.

Well almost bedtime. Have a good night all. Jeanette

Good morning.  Jeanette, I hope you slept well.

Yesterday just was strange weather wise.  Soft rains and hard rains and no rain and sunny and just plain cloudy and breezes strong enough to keep those clouds changing constantly so that the cycle just repeated all day.  It was weird.  But I did get some weeding in.  I also drove to the church (very short drive) and pulled weeds there for a couple of hours.  They have a bit of a garden and no one looks after it.  I yanked and yanked -- still a couple more days of that before it is done -- but all the golden rod are out now and the grasses in the section that I did do -- and who knows what else I pulled.  It doesn't really look nice -- but a garden doesn't look nice without care.

I did no crafting yesterday -- actually did very little in the afternoon -- heck I watched TV -- what a total waste of time.

David is off to work now -- and it is raining again.  Sheesh!!

I have puzzles/soup/dessert today.  I have been browsing looking for another puzzle or two.  Does anyone know of a good site besides the Dell/Pennypress one?

Have a nice day and happy crafting.

    Hugs

This is a birthday card for my niece that I finished off.  I almost have one done for my nephew but I did not have one colour that was required so -- I need to get it and then finish it off.
