Dang --woke up an hour before I had to -- that's not really fair.  I really have nothing planned for today.  I just looked at the thermometer and it says 8ºC outside.  I can't believe it -- I hope it is nice like that all day.

Isn't it amazing Linda how those squirrels can get at food?  I have seen some laughable things myself.  We have quite a few trees at the back of the lot -- almost none at the front -- and quite a few feeders.  Many more trees next door, across the road and across the river.  We have plenty of squirrels -- all shapes and colours.  I do let Luke out to chase them -- he loves to do that -- gets all jittery just anticipating -- but he's never caught one -- he's been very close 'cos I've seen him but he doesn't finish with the determination that gets him there in the first place.  Just as well, I'm thinking.  He has cornered chipmunks and finished them off -- but never when I was actually seeing him.

    Have a nice day everyone.

I just can't sleep right when my husband is out-of-town. I feel so much more "right" when he is here, but he should be back tonight.

I just downloaded that pattern for the table runner that I'm going to make into a wrap/shawl. Since I was given thread to crochet with, I picked out about 6 different colors (every other row of pineapples is a variegated color of the solid colors, with the solid colors in alternating rows). I'll put fringe on it and beads on all the fringes too.

    Have a great day, everyone!

Can't wait to see pics of your project, Mary.

I do believe I'm done with the bulk of my shopping.  Just a couple odds and ends that I can grab at any drug store.  Thank goodness they sell more than drugs tee hee!

Warm temps here, 50s but with rain.  Guess we can't have it all!

Tomorrow, is grocery shopping, getting my hair rejuvenated Wink and then baking for our 2nd family get together on Sat.

Glad to see Donna made it down south safely.  Hi to Jeanette and others that pop in.

    Have a good one.  Linda

I finished my scarf.  I am not unhappy with it.  It is my first one and you can tell the difference from where I started (left) to where I finished (right).  If David were here to take the picture, I would have modelled it for you (LOL) but he is off to his Thursday mixed league darts.  I do like the colours.

But I was very frustrated with the yarn.  $15  for a ball of Katia Ondas yarn -- do NOT buy this brand.  This is a common problem.  I have since found cheaper $6 balls of yarn that can do the same job.  However I do not remember how the colour selection compares -- I would NOT buy katia Ondas again unless it was in a shop nearby where I could easily return it.  Unfortunately -- where I can find the cheaper balls -- they are all out for the time being -- okay because I'm not up to do another scarf -- although Tiffany asked me to get more yarn for her.

This is how the yarn should look

This is what my yarn looked like -- too often.  This was a large hole.  I had several of them.  At the beginning they were smaller but more frequent.  And for the last third of the scarf I had only one smaller hole to deal with.  $15 yarn shouldn't be such a problem -- maybe someone should tell them about "quality" control.

But I will wear the scarf; I like it.  First thing I have ever knit that I can wear.

Good morning.  David is off at work and I have a whole lazy day.

I am going to put together the pieces of my "ABC" blanket.  I finished all the squares quite a while ago -- probably before summer.  I hesitated to put it together because I've never done something like that before.  But I googled some You tube demonstrations and it's quite simple.  So I've started putting them together.  When I finish, David's sister will crochet a border around it for me.  I do not crochet.  But I will have to find the yarn I want for that first.  Tiffany saw something that might work when she was state side (Sarnia/Port Huron) and I may have to get her to pick it up next time she goes or I ask another DSIL to pick it up -- she works in Port Huron.

I also want to organize my pictures that I took of my flowers/garden this year -- I took a lot of them.  Well flowers are an on-going bloom.  I have hard copies (probably 250ish) and need to put them in an album with some order -- then I will also know what pictures to take next summer.

And possibly some more LOST.  I am finished the first season but there is one more disc -- don't know what is on that.  Then onto season two.

So I'm busy -- but all fun stuff.  Okay so I had better also make some supper.  LOL  David needs two lunches with these 12-hour shifts.

Hoping you all have lots of fun today.

Aleida that yarn was soooo defective I can't believe you were still able to use it.  The scarf looks great in spite of the yarn.  Did you consider sending the pics to the yarn shop to see if they would have replaced it?  Then again if that's typical of that brand it probably wouldn't have made any difference.  Good job of making it work!

Remember the cupcake hat I made?  When my family was here last week I was showing it to them and my step-sis who is 40 yrs old going on age 10 LOVED it and said she wanted me to make her one!  We all laughed and afterwards my DD said "Mom you know she would really wear it!"  I kinda forgot about it.  Well lo and behold yesterday I got a text from my sis asking if I would make her TWO adult size cupcake hats!  She is totally serious LOL, I told her I'd see what I could do.  I think I may be able to pull it off, played around with the pattern last night and I actually cast on.  I'll keep ya posted Big Smile Too funny!

We are off to family gathering #2 and distribution of remaining hats Smile

Oh, Aleida, Port Huron?  My niece lives in the outskirts and we've actually been there a couple times.  She's the one that works in a Detroit ICU that I make the premie hats for......Small world!!  I will see her today, in Detroit area, I'll send along greeting vibes to you through her Wink

Vibes coming my way Linda.  Thanks  When I lived in Windsor, my room mate was a nurse in a Detroit hospital -- she was an OR nruse.  We did not part on the best of terms and we have not kept in touch.

Linda, the shop keeper would be happy to exchange the product.  I called her shortly after I started the scarf.  She knew it was a problem with that brand but her customers were asking her to bring in that type of yarn.  Hopefully by now she's stocked another brand.  The reason I didn't return it was because I bought it while on vacation and it is a good 1 1/2 hour drive to her shop -- and sadly there is nothing else for me there.  Nice place to vacation -- quiet and lots of scenery -- but not much else.  I am happy with how the scarf turned out but would have loved one slightly longer -- and I would have bought a second ball.  LOL

Just got all my Christmas presents wrapped. I made 17 little crochet hotpads with CD's inside them- they look like little Christmas wreaths. Then I made a crochet Christmas tree (crocheted around a styrofoam cone) for my pastors at church and small lapghans for parents and in-laws. I even made small crochet Christmas bells (with real bells for the clappers) for some at my husbands work. I had about 30 presents, so some were only wrapped in those plastic grocery bags because that would just take too much wrapping paper to do all of them in paper!
