Hard to believe July is almost over now!
I'm printing out a new pattern for a purse and will try putting a strand of nylon with a strand of worsted yarn together- I hope it will be stronger. Then I will make a liner for it.
There was some rain from Iowa and Kansas the other night, only about an hour. We are predicted to be in the 100 degree range this week though.

Keep Smilin'! A good laugh- for any reason- will do anyone good!
I just crocheted a big flower with purple and lavender yarn, putting it on that white hat I made last winter. I use a giant safety pin to attach it and then I can make other flowers of different colors to match whatever outfit.
Bye for now!
Hello! Aren't you clever Mary, good idea, then you aren't committed to just one color.
The afgan is coming along. I have finished the original pattern size but it is way too narrow so I'm adding stripe panels as I did the first time I made it to make it wider, to be more in keeping with the length. Think I'm done with preemie hats. I remembered that a friend made a bunch for me to pass along so my niece will have a good supply until I see her again during the holidays. The LYS here has a new charity project they were recruiting knitters/crocheters for. They want 10 inch squares made in whatever pattern we wish. They are going to put them together to make afghans for vets. They even provided the yarn in red, white and blue solids and variegated! I've got one made and have 3-4 more to do. That is my small project as a break from the afghan.
We have been getting rain on a more regular basis. Later, Linda
I read in a newsletter email from a nursery near here, that we are 14" under the average of rain this time of year. So many plants are really suffering if they aren't watered.
Linda: show us a picture of your afghan when you finish!
The purse I have a pattern for is done with an afghan hook, so it is very thick, even with only worsted yarn, so I may not do the nylon thread in there. I've been practicing with an afghan hook and the afghan stitch with just scrap yarn, but it doesn't seem to be very "neat-looking". It's very much like knitting, only with one hook- the loops stay on the hook, one way, so it makes me think of knitting.
Hello Everyone
It is August already. Saturday we got an inch of rain but not near enough to help the crops I am afraid or the grass. We are back in the 90's this week but seems hotter I guess with the humidity.
I have been trying to decide a new project to start. I felt honored my new great niece that was born July 25 had her hospital pictures taken in the dress and bonnet I made her.
Mary hope you get rain soon and Linda glad you are getting rain.
Hello to everyone else that stops in. Jeanette
Except for the border the afghan is done. Won't get to it for a while tho', family reunion coming up.
VERY humid here today, more rain last night. Linda
I wish we were getting rain here! There are clouds, but the radar shows the rain disappearing when it gets about 30 miles from here. The bugs inside are looking for water around, but there haven't been mosquitoes at all, because of the lack of water/humidity here.
I need to work on that afghan stitch some more.
Hello to all, Just breezing through. It is the s HHH's here today. Actually it has been the way all week. Monday we did get some rain 2.70 inches but boy do we need more. I know everybody does. What a year!!!
Well off to go and knit. Have a nice weekend! Donna
The clouds didn't "drop" again. Big cities near here, across the state, got up to 4", but we didn't get any again.
I got a new purse, at a discount price, so I'm not making one anymore. I need to start on Christmas gifts for family and friends, so I'll find some patterns.
Keep going! Time won't wait for anyone!
Just saying hello. Been busy taking care of garden stuff. Making salsa tonight.
So not much time for yarning. Hope everyone is doing good. Jeanette
