Good morning!  It's a cold but bright and sunny morning here.  Last night, DH asked me what my plans were for today and I replied that I didn't really know yet.  He said " You should catch up on your reading.  You've been doing a lot around here."  Well, how can I pass up an order like that!  Actually, what I couldn't tell him is that I'm going to start that Valentine's gift for him today.  I decided not to do the tin, but instead bought one of those little Cosmo Cricket blackboard albums.  Now to find the pictures.

    Good Morning!!

I'm going to only get to scrap this afternoon.  I was too exhausted to do the things that needed doing yesterday, so I am going to get as much done this morning as possible and spend the afternoon scrapping.  Gonna get 2000 as done as possible and maybe start 2001.  I am going to encourage Caitlyn to do up her pet page that she started planning but never completed.  Anway, sorry so short, but not much else goinng on here.

    Good Afternoon All

Mary~  what are you reading?  I just finish The Shack,  and Three Cups of Tea.  I am going to start The Last Lecture and Marley and Me tonight.  I love to read two books at a time.  That drives my dear hubby crazy,he thinks that you should devote all your time to reading one book at a time.  I have always read more that one at a time.   I hope that you enjoy your afternoon.

Kim~I am glad that you are getting to scrap some today.  I really must get back into scrapbooking.

I just finished making a big pot of beef stew and a big pot of chilli.  That is for dinner this week.  I have one more thing to make.  But, can't think of what that should be.  I think that if I start to cook all week-end then when I get home late during the week I can just reheat.

What do the rest of you do,  Do you cook all week-end for the week  or  do you cook something different everynight???     I have to find some good cassarole recipes.  I should hope over to the recipes page.    Do any of you have favorite dishes that your families love? Mine like stew, chilli, creamed chicken, and chicken devine(sp) Oh I almost forgot there favorite Spaghetti.  I love meat loaf, but the DH hates it.

Well off to find one more dish to prepare.  Have a great day.

Peg - I've started both Three Cups of Tea and Marley and Me and have never finished either of them.  I started them at different times and things got in the way.  Right now, I have Rhett Butler's People, Water for Elephants and The Voice here from the library.  My DD will read more than one book at a time and it drives me crazy too. LOL  She'll also read books over and over again which I seldom do.   My album project got put on hold, DH got released at 10:30.  Thank goodness I locked the front door to slow him down if he came home unexpectedly. LOL  So, I've been working on some photo mats for a swap using Cosmo Cricket's Oh Joy Line.

I usually plan for quick dinners through the week and cook bigger things on the weekend to have some leftovers for lunch during the week.  We had spaghetti last night (usually a weeknight meal, but DD requested it).  I'm thinking of making The Lil' Cheddar Meatloaves tonight so we'll have lunch over the next few days.  My family also likes White Chicken Chili (avidcook's recipe), potato soup and Southwestern Style soup.  We also make up English muffin breakfast sandwiches and throw them in the freezer for DH to take to work to have a midmorning bite.

Oh Joy is the name of the paper line and Cosmo Cricket is the manufacturer.  It has sort of a rustic winter look.  I'm almost done with them.  I'm waiting for some of the ink edges to dry before I try putting them together again.  I was getting Barn Red all over myself and the mats.

I did decide to make the meatloaves, so my meat is defrosting and I am making Cheesy Broccoli Rice as a side.  We really like it but I haven't made it for a while.

MARY just went to the website.. interesting papers... funny isn't when you want dh around you he has things to do, but at the time you dont, he not only gets off work early but suddenly doesnt have anything else to do either!!! men, cant trust them! LOL...... is he still going on that longer deployment or has it been cancelled? I think SUMMER is here... I just finished eating the most delicious bing cherries... now I realize they probably cost a mint but they were huge, and wonderful... yummy! I am going to try to figure out how to post pics on photobucket so that you can see what I did yesterday in class. Made both valentine cards and thank you cards in a box. Not really sure about the look of the Valentine cards, but liked the concept of them. I did end up buying the heart stamp that the card was made with really pretty. Now to find a valentine! Havent even gotten dressed and it is almost 2. I have been reading... Knit Two by Kate Jacobs, and the newspaper and watching, glancing at the tv. Do I have to get up???? Have no idea about dinner although I would like to know how you make your broccoli cheese rice MARY it sounds wonderful and how do you put together those breakfast egg dishes? Well, guess I should do something besides hang out on the computer.... I tried to post this a few minutes ago but it didnt take for some reason.

The English breakfast sandwiches are super simple.  Fry an egg.  Split the English muffins and put on a cookie sheet.  One one half, layer your meat (sausage patty or ham) with a slice of cheese and put the egg on the other half.  Put these in a 250 degree oven for a few minutes or until the cheese melts.  Cool and wrap in aluminum foil and put in the freezer.  When he is ready to eat them, he wraps them in a paper towel and microwaves them for 1-2 1/2 minutes depending on the microwave.  He will put mayo or  hot sauce on them after they're warm.  Salt and pepper to taste.

I'll dig up the rice casserole and post that later.

Good Morning Everyone,  Guess what!!???  We are under a Blizzard Watch for late tonight and tomorrow!!  Just what we need, more snow & wind!  We got about 4" Sat. and about 1" yesterday.  I shoveled after they plowed, because they leave about 2 ft of snow there in front of the curb.  We will be parking out in the street soon!  They were plowing yesterday when my DD took me to the Stampin' Up Club, and when we got back, they were out further yet!!  I just shoveled one area for the van, couldn't do the area for the truck that is about 3 ft. from the curb now!  I can't throw it in the yard anymore--I just can't get it up there!  The pile is  about even with my shoulder! DH will snowblow tomorrow, weather permitting......  and DENISE---you say summer is here???!!?!?!?  Come visit me! lol

I got a Cosmo Cricket set about a year ago.  It has alot of things, but I haven't used it too much.  I've covered some of the chipboard frames with other paper, and such.  I ordered that Green Tea paper from SU!, they are discontinuing it already!  Also got that Winter kit that is 1/2 price now.

I can't make big pots for meals, since DH works until 7pm or later alot of evenings.  I just can't eat that late.  DH plans to make his "Jungle Stew" Wed.  The girls like it too, and we will give some to them and the neighbors too.  He will use venison, since we have some, otherwise he uses round steak.  Then he cooks it with Tomato juice and puts all kinds of veggies in it.  We have brussel sprouts frozen from our garden, and also rutabaga.  So, we have to get turnips & parsnips, and some other frozen veggies, and some fresh ones yet too.  It simmers all day long and the meat gets nice and tender.  He just throws in spices and it is very good!  We will eat that for a couple of days.  Hopefully we will be able to get to town sometime tomorrow to get the rest of the veggies!  He may have to get some things tonight, before he comes home.  He will use the canned tomatoes from our garden too!  He makes all this in a big canner, he used to use a 14 qt. stock pot and my 5 qt. dutch oven, but he puts so much stuff in it, he keeps going to a larger pot!  The canner is big enough!!!

I got some clear stamps from Jo's the other day.  It is the first time they had a good selection for me to choose from!  They are the $1 ones-got spring, Easter and Valentine's ones.

Well, I've rambled enough here, so....hope everyone is staying warm and safe inside if your weather is nasty!  Beth

Waving to everyone!! boy sounds as if many are facing winter with a terrible blast as well as having ya'lls homes savoring tangy spicy dishes....  scrapping for Valentine's Day and reading books .... I love the energy this board emits.

We've had the windows up today and oh the air was so clean and just helped breathing it seemed.  I never would make it in snowy weather but then our Texas homes are not constructed for snow.... it drops into the 20's our plumbing freezes. haha

We had pizza tonight and I have listened to two new books my daughter got for me for Christmas ... The Secret Garden and Little Women ... love those two!! and the audio was superb.

I'm doing my best to adjust to oxygen in what I can use for scrapbooking and what I cant ... and having the 60 feet of tubing ...  but I am so very thankful and praise the Lord for every teeny inch of it.  We've had to remove items from here that could cause a fire .... so many rules but our VFD is taking charge of several projects for us ... I am definitely a country born and raised gal! I love my community as I was born and raised here!!

PEG that is so neat how you cook on the weekends .... I've done that but when the cooking was changed that stopped. How do you keep the food good all week?  do you freeze? and if so how do you freeze soups and stews and them not be mushy .... mine were inedible. Since I'm not allowed in the kitchen area because of the oxygen  ... did you know that the oxygen stays on your clothes and skin even when you arent wearing the cannula? so I'm trying to come up some meals to do ahead ... I can mix them up here in my room and papa can cook them in the kitchen ... and then freeze and reheat.

MARY.... those Lil' Cheddar Meatloaves  are delicious!! that is the meatloaf I make.  Now my soninlaw makes some on this same order but he makes them in muffin tins as the boys love them like that.  John also uses the cheddar fish for the crumbs and theres some other changes I cant remember right now.

DENISE... i dont like those days when I feel so lazy I dont want to change out of my flannels or do anything .... but not sleepy. Hope you find a way to get the pixs on Photobucket .... how did you do those last ones ... they were adorable... still like that frog and chicken.

BETH.... we make a hamburger soup kinda like your hubby's Jungle Soup .... only we use lean ground round .... gonna try it next time with round or sirloin cut into strips .... betcha your neighbors are happy when they smell the Jungle Soup aroma coming from your kitchen.

    Talk atcha later, Granny

GRANNY BARBIE It is so good to here you sounding so chipper. Sounds like lots of help is around for you to figure out what and how to do things. I didnt realize how limited people are with those oxygen tanks. do you have a portable tank? I will send you the pattern for the frog... but dont have the one for the chicken. Not sure where or how I got that one.......................I am currently watching RICK STEVES program on IRAN and have to say it is very interesting. guess it is because I have not seen this country before... it is so beautiful and you should see the private home he is in.... it is huge and then with crystal chandalers and lamps! but they are also showing the city and it is amazing how beautiful it is with the colorful inlayed buildings that are 1000's of years old and then the ancient ruins....too bad it is in such a war torn area........................have to say that today was absolutely beautiful.... I was sitting outside under a tree for lunch...yes, on a picnic bench....and there was a slight breeze other than that it was quiet... and being in the low 80s the temps were perfect. Yes, I did think of you all and took some deep breaths and stayed outside just a little longer to enjoy the day. Sky was bright blue, birds were singing and grass was newly mowed.... Just wanted you to know that there is warmer weather coming your way and that CA doesnt really start rain until almost Feb.... if we get some that is! Better get things done or the night will be over and I will have done nothing again!

I'm just getting the cold weather and not the snow although we may have some snow flurries tomorrow.  It's 6 degrees now with a high expected of 32.

GrannyBarbie - It's so good to hear from you!  I'm thankful you seem to be adjusting well to your new "friend".  I also didn't know about the limitations you have to deal with now.

Peg - I can't wait to see what's discontinued and what's new at stamp club.  Ours is pushed out to the 23rd so we can order from the new catalog.

Cassie and Lynn - What's going on from you two these days?  Haven't heard from you for a while either.

Kim - Did you get those pictures organized and get any scrappin' done over the weekend?

BBBBRRRRRR!!!!  It is cold here, only 3° right now with a windchill of -15°!  We didn't get the blowing snow like they did east of us, so that is good.  DH plans to go snowblow, so we can park closer to the curb and get ready for tomorrow's snow & possible blizzard conditions again.

I got 2 calendars done yesterday.  Put recipes on one and patterened paper on the other.  I have 4 more to do something with, 1 will be recipes.  Otherwise, not much going on.

I thought the kids would be off school today, but they went.  I hate to see them go when it is so cold outside.  Thursday is going to be -3° for a high!!  My stepson said it was 30° in Houston yesterday!  Sure hope everyone stays warm, & have a good day!    Beth

    Good morning.

It's been pretty slow around here so I havn't been posting much.

Granny, I didn't know about the oxygen sticking to clothes and skin. I always wondered about the people you see on oxygen who are smoking. Now it seems even more dangerous than I thought.

Denise. when Wade was stationed in Afghanistan the place he stayed looked so cool in pictures. It had a huge terrace with big pillars where they would eat meals. It was an old compund that had been in used in a few of their wars over the years. It's sad to see so much history being destroyed every day in all of those countries.

We're having pretty mild weather. Not nice like Denise but in the 40's I think, wet but not pouring down rain. I can handle this much better than all of the really cold you most of you are having. Stay warm everyone!

    Hi, All!!

Been crazy here.  I did not get my stuff done on Sunday like I wanted.  Joe's training stuff got all screwed up and he didn't leave till Sunday.  Then I took Caitlyn around one of the other neighborhoods to sell Girl Scout Cookies.  Yesterday I was too busy with laundry and the like.  Today I am feeling under the weather so I might work on sorting after I take a nap.  I'm trying to keep it all low key and relaxed today.  Joe is having surgery on Friday for his shoulder.  His pre-op appointment is at 11:20 today.

Anyway, I gotta run.  Need to take some medicine and a nap.
