friday and weekend chat now open- come on in!

morning all-

it;s supposed to be a hot one today, so I got up early and baked DH birthday cake, whte chocolate white cake with chocolate frosting.  Then I had put a crockpot full of tomatos from my garden on last night, and this morning I have enough to can 3-4 jars of sauce.  Then......I baked egg mini muffins cups for breakfast.  Now I am done heating up the kitchen.  We will got to Spagthetti Factory for dinner- love the mizithra cheese pasta.

This afternoon I am taking DH on a mystrey trip- there is a theatre near that all the seats are like lazyboy recliners, and they serve your upscale snacks to you in the chairs, etc...  the cost is about $2-3 more than a regular theatre, so it will not be too bad, but should be fun.

I see we have a new member that has joined the group- I encourage you to fee comfortable to drop in and chat about anything at all.  It can be serious, light, does not matter- you do not get judeged here, and some great folks to chat with.

Kallee- Who's the new member? What did I miss? Are you referring to Wolverine (John), or someone else? Where is this theater that you all went to? Peej says there are a few around, including Carlsbad and La Jolla [pronounced La Hoiya]... and I forget where else she said.

Taking younger d to take her driver's permit test in about 45 minutes. We have an appointment but we are going to go a few minutes early to fill out the paperwork. Birth certificate (check), check book (check), appointment (check). Nerves (check) LOL. I hope she does well. She's taken several of the practice tests and passed them so I think she'll be fine, but there's still that little bit of anxiety for her.

Got hamburger pulled out for tonight; even remembered to buy the hamburger buns last week. Younger d will probably eat leftovers, the rest of us will have burgers and fries (unless it gets too hot to heat up the kitchen to bake the fries).

Elder d is heading for the dentist's office to get her cavities filled. She was wise and left a few minutes early to allow for the possibility of getting lost. She doesn't think she will but she wanted to be safe.

Oops, I guess I forgot to close one kitchen window so it's a little bit warmer in here that it would have been. At least it was only one and not both.

Not much going on here today.

A bit chilly and drizzly but not too bad.

Kallee, It sounds like you've planned a fun birthday for Jim.  I saw the pic that you posted of he and DD#3. She has really grown up! I love her hair.  

Thanks for wanting to help, Rox.  I would really like a pic and a piece of cloth from something you've worn. I'm making a collage of things that my friends have worn and I'll put the pics that I do get on top of the fabric. I'll send my address to you. Did peej pass her driving teswt. For some reason, I really want to know. : ))

Leora, Thanks for saying you'll send the pic and fabric. I so appreciate it.  I don't remember if I asked Jess. I'll have to go through my emails to see. 

Bubba just got home. I think we might grab a bite to eat at a restaurant.  I sure don't feel much like cooking. I fell again today. I guess I'll give-in and get the "I've fallen and I can't get up" service.  Bubba has really been pushing for it. I already feel like an old woman. This will put me over the top. I better go buy a pair of sensible shoes. lol

Glad to see you here yesterday, Kay. Hope to see you again this week-end. 

Meredith didn't mention her foot when I "talked" with her earlier. I guess that's a GOOD thing.

I'm in a funk. I hope it goes away soon. This hasn't been a very good day for me. I had a crying vent to myself.  A prayer would sure be appreciated.

Jenni- I hope you had a wonderful lunch, and that you feel rejuvenated!  As for the sensible shoes- I gave up that ghost a long time ago.  Mine could be called nun shoes.

Leora- a drizzle does not seem like it will do much good- are you are dry as Neb and So Dakota?

Rox- did she?  did she?  did she pass???  Did you see that I posted to you that I know of a couple of partime job opertunites for your girls?

I just saw that someone has joined the group- they have not posted yet. 

Yhe movie place was pretty neat- I did ot look, but it turned out the girl charged us the senior price- I don't know if I should be pleased or insulted.  I ordered Angus sliders, and a cookie and cream shake.  KC had a quesadilla, Jim had a loaded Nathan's dog with a rootbeer float- it felt naughty eating it in the theatre recliner seats  We saw Curve Ball with Clint Eastwood and enjoyed it.  2 thumbs up 

SHE PASSED!!!

She only missed three, and that included one that she forgot to answer!

Jenni- Same as Kallee, I'm not very photogenic. I don't even know if I have a picture of myself (and that's the honest truth). At least one that isn't years old, or have someone else in it. Piece of material from something I've worn, huh? Have to think on that one. I would have sent you a leg to my favorite pair of denims but I just threw them away last week. That was a sad day for me.

Kallee- Thanks for going out of your way for my girls. Elder has a B.A. in psychology.

I don't think it was too hot today. Hot but not intolerable.

Making the usual Friday night hamburgers. Younger probably won't eat because she celebrated passing the test by treating herself to a BIG Jamba Juice smoothie. She's sick of my hamburgers anyway. Gonna make fries to go with them.

Younger d and I have already reserved t.v. rights tonight to watch America's Next Top Model. Exciting stuff, huh?

We are in a severe drought here so the drizzel will not help much. Too late for the crops anyway now.

Jenni Jess is planning on sending the pic and cloth. Is there a particular size piece you want?

Kallee happy bday to your DH. Glad you had fun at the movie.

Jenni- I have your address already. Will see what I can come up with, but don't hold your breath on the picture part, unless I can find one when I was thinner. I just don't have any of me, myself, and I. And I was wondering the same thing as Leora... what size of material?

A 4x4" piece or bigger is fine. I think I'll have plenty of fabric and not very many pics. Oh well.

First thing I read was "SHE PASSED!" and the first thing in my mind was "WHO DIED?"   Glad to hear it was the drivers test- whew!

Jenni- I was a good looking kid- how about a baby picture, or my funky 7th grade photo where I tried to streighten my curly hair by sleeping in soup can rollers.....that was a memorable night.  Or my 9th grade graduation photos where my hair is wet and parted down the middle, because I had just washed out the up-do behive my mother had paid for?  I will get you something special- as for something I have worn  - the only thing I ever toss is old (I still have 80's stuff with big shoulder pads) underware?  White or paisley?

Leora- Did I tell you we went to Sturgis this summer?  It looks like a fun event when the bikers are there- but it was a ghost town when we were there.

Hello to all that follow today- I will try and get back on here.  We are picking up a Swede at the train station to show him San Diego for the day- I often put my foot in mouth.  I have never met him inperson, it was someone I have chatted with on ancestry.com about some shared information.  He has come to LA for a conferance- and I offered to play tour guide down here for a day.  I hope we have something in common- as I am not a good conversationalist.

Rox,  I thought the same thing Kallee did when I saw SHE PASSED. I figured that I had forgotten that you had a loved one close to being called home. I'm so happy for Peej. I hope her big sister is proud of her too!!! 

Kallee, I have the pic I need of you. I just need a scrap of cloth please. Underwear are fine.  Could ya cut out the crotch first? lol  I guess I'm a little confused still this morning.  I am not photogenic either. I used to run from the camera and hide on picture day at school. I've never had a good self image and self-esteem is in the cellar. Why?  I know a lot of my probs stem from the way I was treated growing up and the Depression and CFS etc etc.  You seemed to have grown up with kind and loving parents. Did anyone in your family also have mental health problems?  My maternal grandma, several of her kids (including my mother),  aunts, uncles and cousins --many have some kind of mental health issue including drug addiction and alcoholism. One heck of a gene pool to draw from ain't it? LMBO

Leora and Jess, Thank you for helping me with this project. All I want is a memory of all of us--together. So when I'm in the nursing home and  can look up at the wall every day and say "Who the heck are these people?"  LOL  Told you I was weird today.

Grandma Cheryl GF, How are you doing? I bet helping with your grandsons can really wear you out. I know how much you love them. I hope your DD is appreciative of all the things you do for them.

Good morning/afternoon.

That was too funny.... "She passed." LOL. Never even entered my mind. I have a tendency to assume that people know what I'm talking about. I'm really bad about it on the phone with people that I know very well; I forget to say who's calling and just go straight into what I called for. Am having to retrain myself to say, "It's rox" before going on.

Honey has gone to the hardware store to pick up a few things. Girls are both in their rooms and here I sit.

Jenni-  I have a couple of hobbies, I just haven't pulled them out. I guess I could pull one out. I love to x-stitching and at Christmas time I love to paint plaster ornaments and figurines. I have a x-stitch project that I started years and years ago and never finished so I guess I could get that done. I got side-stracked with other projects.

Nothing on the agenda today. Thought younger d might wake me early to go and drive but she didn't. Hope she wants to go when she comes out of her room. Don't you all remember getting your permit and being so excited about getting behind the wheel? D was discouraged about the picture on her permit because it really shows the weight in her face and I think that affected her enthusiasm. 

Got chicken pulled out for dinner. Elder d wants the Chicken in Lime Butter again. Guess I could make that and mashed potatoes and salad on the side.

The Cornhuskers mashed Idaho State 73 - 7.  It was a game like they used to play a few decades ago. Loved it GBR!!

I'm bored.  Kind of listening to the Kansas State - Oklahoma game.   Hoping the KS Wildcats win this one.

Jenni- no genetic pattern in my family- but every family must have a looney or two- and a few would tell you my mom is nutz, but not in that way.  I do remember as a young kid having bouts of melencholy, and even at that age my mind was overtime in deep thoughts.

We speant all day touring around the guy visiting from Sweden, paying for his meals, etc...and not a thank you.  I have noticed that with the other Swedes too......it must be a cultural thing?  Who does not say thank you though?

Kallee- I wrote to my Swedish friend and asked her if that is normal Swedish custom to not say thank you. I'll let you know what she says.
