The current weather in Edmonton, Alberta is
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.
Good Wednesday Morning Everyone,
I hope you ALL are doing fine...I hear the birds singing, so I am hoping for a warmer day today....We were in the high 50's yesterday and it seemed so cool....
Ron was out in the yard the other day, by the old stump and saw, of all things, bear do do....So now we know we have a bear near by...We were surprised that a bear was between the two houses, but I guess the garbage draws them...
Not a lot new here since last night, so I will close for now and BBL...
Mary
Deb – Mercy! You were so busy yesterday. I bet it did feel good to get back in the pool. I'm glad your SIL got released from the hospital.Nancy – We have a beautiful day here, too. I like watching a good storm myself, if I can be safe inside. My family teases me about how much I order from catalogs. I think I will buy one or two things, mostly patriotic decorations. There are so many differing types of racing, it is hard to keep them all straight sometimes. I'm so anxious to see Maycee. I think I will be spending the night at their house Thursday night, but I'm not sure yet. If not, I will ask if I can keep her Sunday night.Doris – The flowers are doing pretty well so far. I have two begonia bulbs that I planted that I haven't come up yet. But I was a little late planting them. I hope they will still come up. And those purple and blue ones I planted haven't sprouted yet. My sister said it will be a while. They are mid to late-summer flower. I just get anxious to see them. Some auctions do take credit cards and/or checks, but I think you have to get them pre-approved.Peggy – I, too, have seen the auctions of the storage units on TV and always thought it would be fun to go to one. There was a sign advertising one last weekend here, but I had to work that day. Fresh peas – yummy. We had them growing up and when it was time to can and freeze them, it was a big job. But there were 6 kids. They were so good right out of the garden.Hauke – I'm glad you got your cleaning done before your friend came over and hope you had a very nice visit.Mary – I hope you will like the new bundle service. I sure hope the do-do is the only sign you see of the bear. I wouldn't have a clue what to do if I saw one.I got my new tires put on this morning. My car does ride different now. Then I got it washed. I put the sprinkler out yesterday and my car was outside so it had water spots all over it. It looks much better now. Then when I got home, I thought about mowing, but it doesn't really need it yet, so I did trim and edge. That helped. Then I watered all of the flowers. They say no rain for at least a week. I think the sprinkler will be running over the weekend.I made the strawberry/rhubarb fool yesterday. Two thumbs up. I will make it again.
It's a rainy day here ... and since I had the windows open a bit ... the house feels very damp. Not sure if I should turn up the heat or just wait for the sun to come out.
Yes Joyce, I got it done.
In fact, this morning it was so pleasant to get up and walk into a clean uncluttered space. It never ceases to amaze me how a room can feel so much bigger or brighter (even in the rain) just by getting rid of the clutter. No more bags of flour or containers of cocoa sitting around. The cooling racks back in their space and the mixer put away. Now if the sun would come out and fill the place with more natural light, it would look even better.
But I'll not complain about the rain. It's come at the right time to give the grains and wheat the farmers planted that boost to get growing ... as well as all the gardens planted in the past 2 weeks - this is perfect growing weather!
Well, I hope by suppertime that I will be all caught up with the work I couldn't do last week when the computer crashed. That will feel good too!
Well, the kettle's boiling so I can go make a cup of tea. Not in the mood for coffee this morning. LOL
SYALHauke
Hi, everyone.
Been having a morning filled with lots to do. Ended up with a trip to WM for necessary things.
HAUKE, a clean cupboard does give us a good feeling. But, sometimes things just jump right back there when we're not looking. Hope you got your computer work done now that your machine is purring once more.
JOYCE, new tires and the alignment does make a difference when you're driving. Since I got the maroon car, it needs a wash more often than my Silver Bullet. Hope your time with Maycee will be some time this week.
MARY, my IL DD has a bundle with AT&T, I think, and she likes it. Everything has been going well for them in all media systems. She likes the DSL for her computer. As for the animal droppings, we find them here and we're in the city, literally. Deer, raccoons, etc., etc.
PEGGY, fresh peas are so good. During my grade school days, my parents owned a farm. They rented the land to the canning factory, so we could pick all the fresh veggies that were grown on the land. Lots of peas and corn.
DEB, so how relaxing was it to finally get your water time in?
Hugs and prayers for all.
Nancy Z.
Just popping in, we used the woodstove again this AM, was in the 30's, but it will change this afternoon, plus the north wind sends the pollens flying. Always something.
Do you call the forest service, fish and game or police if you see a bear, Mary? We have forest service people around here, always looking, lol. Right now, it mostly mountain lions, but the bears like to head into town because of more garbage cans and food out for domestic animals.
Joyce, you too were busy. Hoping your begonias do well, we can only keep one inside up here, but people used to buy them at the nursery when I worked there, and spent alot of money on them, pot by pot. Cold air makes the blossoms fall off quickly though.
Deb, are you about ready for another vacation? I am..................:)
I don't think I've had fresh green peas since I was a little kid, and we don't eat them now, dh doesn't care for them so I buy frozen and toss into a stew or something. The boys used to like them when they were kids though.
I'm hoping we can get a whole bunch of strawberries next week when we go down to the valley for dh's appt., we pass right by the farm, but this appt. is sort of late, might be sold out by then.
hauke, hope your computer stays working well.
Mary, do you get music channels with that new cable service?
Finally finished my bike time, and kitchen work awaits me. Fixing cauliflower with pork chops for dh.
Need to buy more produce tomorrow, we will be heading to the bigger town for Safeway, see what kind of fruit and squash is for sale. And brussel sprouts, thank heaven's for those. It's hard not to eat potatoes often and bread is cut down to 2 slices a day, do you guys miss eating alot of bread?
Take care.
Doris
Hi Everyone,
Joyce, I have a red begonia, hanging basket, that is so pretty... The flowers look like tiny roses and it is just full of flowers... My yellow begonia is growing and doing well too.. I think begonia's are just so pretty....Glad your car is all taken care of and I am sure you notice a good difference when you drive...
Yes, Doris, I miss all the bread.. I am a sandwich type person, so I miss that...I will eat one piece of bread, mostly at lunch.. Today I had a fish sandwich, which really tasted good...With WW, Miracle whip is very low in calories and although not my favorite type of salad dressing, I have been using that on my sandwiches...I am not sure if we get music channels or not...Hope you can get the strawberry's and veggies you want and need.. I am so ready for the Farmers Market to start and I think it will start soon... Yes! My Dd and husband are leaving for Reno and Lake Tahoe tomorrow morning....I hope they have a wonderful trip...We don't call the game warden or anyone about the bear in our yard....I am sure there are quite a few bears around this area and as long as they don't bother the garage or anything, I am okay with the bear in our yard..LOL
I spent today cleaning and doing wash...I am taking sometime tomorrow to go get my hair cut and colored...I am ready for a break and I think tomorrow afternoon, I will head to the hairdresser....She doesn't work till 2 PM, so I can get the bathrooms cleaned up and my other chores done....
Have a good evening everyone..
