The current weather in Edmonton, Alberta is
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.
Mary – I never win big on the lottery either. I have won $20 on the scratch-off tickets once, but I decided to take a chance and play on the ball tickets also. Whoever invented the plastic totes is making good money for their great idea. That is nice that DD and family were going to do the yard work. They are Heaven-sent.Peggy – Thank you for telling us about Linguica. I'd never heard of it before. Enjoy your trip to your sister's. I hope you find some good things at the sales. No, I'm working Saturday. At least I will have Sunday off. I'm really trying to get my charge card paid off, then I can cut back on the Saturdays.Nancy – Our weather was a lot cooler yesterday, mid 70's most of the day, but it was still humid, so I left the A/C on. I never grill. It is just me, so it's not really worth it. Sometimes I will pull out the George Foreman grill, but that's it. I've thought about looking for another job. I don't think many other companies have a word processing department like we have. So I would have to go back to being a secretary and I really don't want to do that. I have thought about it at my firm though. I haven't given up on that idea completely.
Good Morning Everyone,
Hope you all enjoyed a good nights rest...I think we will see the sun today, maybe later this afternoon....
Joyce, I know what its like to have credit card payments...It took me forever to get mine paid off when I was single.....Good luck with the lottery tickets..I hope you hit it big!!! Any amount you would win, would be an added bonus...I like those under the bed totes too.. I have the bedrooms filled up under the bed with those totes too...LOL
Ron's eye appointment went well yesterday...We are having the 100 mile yard sale in this area over the weekend..I only stopped at one and bought some rugs for the hallway and for where Mom sits...They were good rugs and I am so pleased with my purchase....Maybe today we will do a little more yard saleling.. I really wasn't in the mood yesterday...The yard sale I was at yesterday was a nice one, but some of the ones here of late are just junky...
Peggy, have a nice trip to your Sisters and good luck at the yard sales..
I guess today is Walmart and some grocery shopping...I really would rather stay home and get caught up on things, but I guess we have to take Mom to get her hair done...It rained last night that Beth, Opie and Cody couldn't get the yard mowed, so they will come on Sunday.... I have to get a few things to nibble on because the kids like to eat something too, when they come to visit...
Everyone take care and I hope you are all doing well.....
Mary
Good Morning All!
It is a wonderful, cool morn here. Finally!!! Had rain off & on all day yesterday which brought the cooler temps. Marty said for the first day in a while he didn't feel sticky while trying to work!
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO DEB & RON! Hope both of you had blessed days!
Went to our county fair last night. Ended up being a wonderfully cool night. I had to put a jacket on because of the breeze. Marty & I met at the fair 31 years ago as of 7-26. It's tradition for us to go at least one night. Really enjoyed watching the live show. The young man that was singing lives just outside the village we are in & is only 17. He does the old country music &, at 16 was asked to do a Merle Haggard song on a CD that included stuff done by Hank Williams Jr. & several other famous country stars. There's talk that he may have a recording contract in Nashville already. Got a great voice & is adorable. His name is Wyatt McCubbin &, our guess is, he will become very well known on the country scene!
Saw my doctor on Wed! He did the normal workup (EKG, blood work) & says he feels my ulcer could be acting up. I explained to him my experimenting with avoiding gluten. Based on my symptoms, he doesn't feel it's celiac disease but could be a mild allergy to wheat. There are times I can get away with eating something wheat based but other's I don't. He changed my stomach med & wants to see what the blood work shows. I'm just concentrating on eating veggies, fruit & lean protein. Oats don't seem to bother me so they stay in my diet!
If anyone likes ground buffalo but hasn't made meatloaf out of it, I highly recommend it. Made it earlier this week & it was really good.
Well, better run. We are taking Marty's truck to get the oil changed then will stop at a couple of places on the way home. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Greetings all. We have sun and it's really nice out right now, but supposed to get to the 90's this afternoon. We had rain, finally, one day, but not enough to do much good for the farmers.
Thanks again for all the birthday wishes. My day was rather ho-hum and normal, but at 59, what does one expect???LOL Work was busy both Thursday and Friday, so I hope it continues all weekend.
hauke, congratulations on the continued weight loss. Even if you don't reach your goal by the wedding, you deserve a big pat on the back for working towards better health.
Mary, I'm glad you got rain, but sorry it made it so the kids couldn't come help with the yard. Hopefully, Sunday they can get it all done for you. Sounds like you have finally convinced Ron that he can't do it all himself!! Have fun at WM. You did good with the new rugs from the yard sale. I'm with you on the sales this year: I haven't seen near as many signs out for them.
Joyce, thanks for the very nice card! Looks nice on the bar with others I received this week. I'm sorry things haven't gotten better at work. You hadn't mentioned it in a while, so I guess I thought things had been resolved. Do you get Maycee tomorrow?
Susan, what a romantic date!!! I think it was for our 15th anniversary that Danny and I went to the Truck Stop for pie as that is where we met. I will keep Wyatts name in the back of my mind in case he makes it big. Which would be worse? your ulcer acting up or celiacs disease? I guess the correct answer is not having any medical issues, but we know how THAT works out!!
Nancy, thanks for the card. You are talented with the card making. I guess I should thank you for the somewhat cooler temps since I blamed you for the wicked hot days!!!LOL
Peggy, hope your drive to your sisters was a nice one, and that the yard sales were fruitful, and your dinner good.
Doris, so glad to hear that the Beach Boys concert was a smashing success. I think we all like to dance in the aisles to the oldies!!
My SIL has her first cataract surgery scheduled for Aug 20th. I got to see the cataract in her left eye, and it is bad. Even a layman could tell. The Dr said the right eye wasn't quite as bad, but close. Poor gal, we went for her follow-up to the surgeon from her breast biopsy, and altho all is well with the results of that, the Dr felt something on her right one, so this coming Tues, we go back for a mammogram and an ultra sound, then the following Tues back to the surgeon. This is my new social life:running her to Dr appts!!LOL
I felt like Mary this morning....I got up and headed to Meijer for some much needed grocery shopping. Meijer has a new program called mPerks. You sign up on line, then find coupons good on a variety of items with differing expiration dates. You click on them and that "clips" them for you. When you go through check out at the store, you enter your mPerks # first, then as the items are scanned, you get the coupon off at the same time. Pretty neat as long as I remember to shop according to the coupons. You can actually print them out, but since the whole goal is to save paper, I'm not going to print them.
Have a good weekend all.
Deb
Hello, I'm just "putting my foot in the door". Watched tv boxing with dh last night, and all kinds of things happened online, and don't have time to sit and ponder it all yet.
Mary, how lucky to be able to indulge in that huge yard sale, goodness, they show that one on tv, and in Country magazines.
Be back later, dh has a hunger for potato salad, haven't made any in several years, so need to check my larder to make sure I have pickles and juice for it.
Have a good day, a safe day if you are on the road. And pay off those danged credit cards, we have been working on that here, also.
Doris
Hi, everyone.
Was getting chores done while we could still have the windows open. Starting to get a little sticky out, now.
JOYCE, never can tell about the lottery---there's been lots of surprised people. We do grill a lot and Russell likes to do it. So, I am lucky. Weren't you going to try a techie kind of position at your workplace? Sometimes you just have stay and things do get better.
MARY, I know your mom would be unhappy not getting her hair done. Hey, good that the kids will be helping with the yard. The two boys across the street are always willing to help with heavy and tiring work at our house. That sure saves on stressing out old bones. LOL
SUSAN, nice idea for the county fair remembrance. Chuckling because Russell and I met at a dance place in the bar that's no longer around. And, best part, he didn't dance then and I didn't drink. His mother always said that was so puzzling. Never had buffalo, but I do make venison meatloaf and meatballs.
DEB, don't thank me too soon. Hot weather is on the horizon. The coupon program sounds good. I hate when our store gives us a coupon and we have to cut it out of their ad.
DORIS, potato salad is good on summer days. I make it here and there and I do pasta salads, too. I have to measure the carbs, but getting a taste is good enough for me.
Hugs and prayers for all.
Nancy Z.
Hope all are having a nice weekend. We arrived home around 8 this evening, up early this am and were on the road by 8am, stopped at a couple of yard sales, we had slight showers on the way down so it made for bad yard sales, did not bother me though as I was looking forward to hard crabs/shrimp or any other seafood I could find. Had lunch in a small town in Va. on the bay, cream of crab soup and crab balls (actually rolled up crab meat with breading and fried, were delish), then on later to sisters and we had steamed crabs and shrimp/fried chicken and corn on cob,,,I just eat the seafood, brought home the remainder of crabs/shrimp for Dana and she is on the porch now chowing down..was a wonderful relaxing day, saw lots of old homes and lots of water..loved it. Will be back tomorrow to catch up,,,have a good evening..Peggy
It's party day!
Grab your glasses and lift them in a toast to our birthday gal ...
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to Nancy, Happy Birthday to you!
Nancy, it's your day ... yup ... you are Queen for the day! Officially that is - for we actually think you're a really royal person every day of the year! But today we celebrate your life and all you've given.
We are so blessed to call you a dear friend for your heart is one of those hearts that just puts others first all the time. You are a blessing.
May today be one of special blessings for you - as you spend the day with those you love. Hopefully they will treat you to a special dinner and wonderful birthday celebration. The DC Gang
Happy Birthday, Nancy!! I hope you enjoy a wonderful birthday and that the year ahead, is all that you hope for....You and Mattie share the same birthday!! Mattie is 6 years old today... I can not believe how fast she is growing up....
I hope you like your cake..I know you like roses and flowers, so today you get all the roses and don't have to share with anyone....LOL
Hope you all had a good nights rest...It is cloudy and yucky here and I hope to see the sunshine and it get warmer today...Yesterday, we needed a light jacket....
We went to Walmart yesterday for Mom to get her hair done...Ron picked up a few things we needed and I got the scripts and then went and sat down...Ron said, "why don't you take one of those electric carts and shop"....This is the first time I ever tried one and I had a ball...LOL I took the cart and went and bought some fruit, onions and a few other things we needed....I didn't run into anything or anyone using the cart.....LOL I think riding in the cart was the most fun I had all week and the best part, I didn't hurt my leg more walking in Walmart...
I had told Ron I didn't think I felt like going to too many yard sales.. We stopped at one nice one and we found a chest with gold plated silverware....It was really nice and pretty....Of course I don't need it, but I decided I wanted it and made an offer, which was accepted.....There are all kinds of gold silverware in the chest and serving pieces..all very pretty... I told Ron we just got the buy of the day....Well, that started the desire for more yard sales and I completely forgot about my leg hurting...LOL I bought some nice heavy serving plates for my daughter.. I will give them to her when they come up to do yard work...I bought some nice place mates, napkins and holders all new and packaged up..brand new....We didn't buy something at each yard sale, but enjoyed looking and by the time we came home, I was feeling pretty good.. I think Saturday morning I was just depressed and even though we had a busy week, I needed to do something fun...
The one yard sale in the valley, we had to follow the yellow markers.. The sales was on an old coal strip mine way back in the woods.....I said if there is a yard sale back here, I will eat my hat... Low and behold, I found the place high on a hill over looking the mountains and looked like a little piece of heaven....After all that looking for the sale, I felt we should find something, but we didn't, but laughed at the experience getting there....
After all that running, we were starved, so we went to eat.. I had had enough yard sales...LOL Mom and I shared a BLT and we each had a cup of Seafood chowder...Ron has a hankering for Rueban's, so that is what he got....It was all very good.....I had eaten enough food for the rest of the day....
I even walked to the garden last night to check things out.. Our tomato plants are huge..They are taller than me and there are alot of tomato's.. I am going back down today to check beets and carrots... I picked lettuce, cucumber and onions...Our onions are beautiful...We had seed onions and they are big.. I picked two and I think I should get a few more....I can give Beth some...
Today,we don't have to go anywhere, but the kids are coming to mow and work outside...I need to make an ice cream trip, I guess, but other than that, we will stay home today.. Tomorrow is the foot doctor in Dubois, but not till 11:30 AM.....Then Tuesday and Wednesday...NOTHING....My legs seems a little better this morning and yesterday, I wondered what happened, that it seemed a little better too....Guess that ride on the cart did the trick....LOL
I read all the posts and now my mind is blank.....I hope you all are doing well...
Hugs to you ALL,
Love,
Morning All!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANCY! May God Bless you with many more!
Trying to get moving this morning after the long, exhausting day we ended up having. Started out with breakfast at Bob Evans, which is always a favorite. Then went for an oil change in Marty's truck. After the work was done the tech came out to talk with us. This is never a good thing.
He informed us that the front left brake had a great deal of rust making the pads stick & everything heat up. Even the lug nuts coming off of the wheel were extremely hot. He did as much as he could but stated my fall we would need a complete brake job. Ok, we can plan for that. However, Marty then proceeded to tell me that he had found rust up underneath on the truck frame & in other locations that it should never had rusted. It appears that the truck undercoat was not applied properly. The truck had also just come out of warranty due to years not mileage. Well......I'm sure you can see where this is leading........!
Since we were already at the dealership, he decided to 'take a look around' but just couldn't find any super duty that appealed to him. There was one that he decided to test drive & have the number run on. When we were told that the dealership would give us $30,000 as trade in on our truck, this gave Marty even more incentive. This led to the back & forth, no I don't like that one but sort of do this one, for a couple of hours.
Prior to this trip, just after I bought my truck (Ford F150) & Marty drove it, he had stated he was seriously considering his next truck to be a F150. Well, after not finding the perfect super duty (larger than my truck), the sales manager talked him into test driving a F150 with a heavy duty towing package & practically every option known to man on it. And....................it's now sitting in our driveway. I was completely shocked because he loved his super duty trucks but decided this one had the bigger truck feel, could tow almost as much & gets a lot better gas mileage. The exhausting part comes in, we were at the dealership from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. without eating. Thank goodness we had a big breakfast!
Because we accomplished absolutely nothing yesterday, I have to make up for it today. So, going to get off of here & make a grocery list. Can't even start laundry until I get back because I ran out of detergent!
Have a blessed day all!
Nancy – Happy Birthday! I hope you have something special planned today and are able to spend it with your family and friends at church. I had thought about looking into the position in the IT department at work but they were looking for the head of IT and I know I couldn't do that. So I guess I will stay where I am. I am glad I even have a job with this economy. That's so nice that the neighbor boys are willing to help you and Russell out.Mary – I was doing good with my credit cards, but a family member needed some financial help so I helped but now I'm paying that debt off. I'm sure I will get it back but I don't want that debt hanging over my head. My bed doesn't have any space underneath, otherwise I would put totes under it. I'm glad Ron's eye appt. went well. Did you find any good deals at the big yard sale? I hope Beth and family make it over to help with the yard today. You had a really good day yesterday. The silverware sounds beautiful.Susan – I'm glad you had a good time at the fair. I didn't make it to our county fair, but definitely want to go to the state fair. I hope you get some answers from the blood work and you can find out what is going on. Congratulations on the new truck.Deb – You are welcome for the birthday card. I try not to complain about work too much but sometimes I just have to vent. I don't know if I will have Maycee tonight or not. Her mom is off work until Thursday, but I do miss that little girl. I probably will call and see if I can have her. You are a very good sister-in-law to take her to her appointments. I'm sure she will be so relieved to get the cataracts fixed so she can see better. I sure hope the mammogram doesn't show anything. Our grocery store does the coupons like Meijer's. But I sometimes forget what coupons are on the card, then they expire.Doris – I hope you got the online things straightened out. Potato salad sounds good. I don't make it very often because I tend to eat it all and it isn't worth it to make just a little bit. I guess I could buy a small serving at the deli.Peggy – It sounds like you and Eugene had a wonderful day yesterday.Work was very quiet yesterday. We got up to 89 degrees yesterday but the humidity really went down so it wasn't as bad outside. We are to be in the mid-90's to maybe 100 again this week.
Happy Birthday, Nancy!!! I hope you are having a super-duper day!!LOL
Susan, seems like most of our vehicles are bought with out pre-planning. sounds like Marty got a good deal and it was time to trade in. Now, you have to make up for yesterdays lost time, which means a busy Sunday for you.
Mary, the silver(gold)ware sounds so pretty. You got some good deals yesterday along with a tasty lunch. I had to drive one of the motorized carts after I had the scope on my knee. Kind of fun. My mom uses them when possible in larger stores. We are partly sunny, partly cloudy and it is to get HOT and humid today and tomorrow. Yuck
Joyce, I hope you are having a nice day off. When you only get one, you have to make the most of it!! Sure hope you get to see Maycee this week.
Peggy, your day away sounds nice. Good food and a nice drive.
We were slow at work last night. I think it was because this is the weekend for our Hot Air Jubilee. Didn't see any balloons floating our way, but I understand they were able to launch Fri night and both launches on Sat. Not sure if they launched this morning or not.
Cleaned out the freezer this morning. I've been trying to use up meats that are in the freezer, but it was such a mess, I wasn't sure what was in there. Found that we are set for another week or two before stocking up again.
Later all.
Happy Birthday, Nancy.
