Morning All!
Thanks again for the thoughts & prayers. They worked, the MRI only showed swelling & a pocket of fluid over the area where the break had been. Doctor said there's no way of telling why the swelling & fluid are there but stated that, for now, would treat based on symtoms. Ended up with a cortisone shot down thru the top of my foot, in the area that has remained sore. Lovely bruise there this morning! Am hoping this will take care of things. Go back next week for a follow up.
Well, need to hit the shower but wanted to share. Have a blessed day all!

Good Morning Everyone,
Hope you ALL had a good nights rest and enjoy your Wednesday....The week is going fast...
Deb, I am sorry Sharon has to go through all this.. My cousin found a lump under her arm..She had had a cold and they said the lump was from her cold...When she got over the cold the lump was still there, no change, so no they are doing a biopsy...I haven't heard the outcome from that, but with a biopsy, they should know something fast....At least you would think they would...LOL Your dinner sounds fantastic....My mouth watered reading about all you ate and enjoyed.. I like breaded egg plant..Just hate breading all those slices and frying it...LOL Some of the store bought lasagna is not too bad and it is even better if done in the microwave instead of the oven....
Hauke, glad all those alarms going off, were just nothing serious....I would freak out if the smoke detector went off in the middle of the night...
Speaking of fires, there were more fires in our area again..We thought the arsonist was caught, but there was another suspicious fire over the weekend at a camp, where someone was in the camp sleeping and died....So we are wondering now, what next and jumpy when the fire alarm goes off..
Susan, waiting to hear your results.....Prayers for good news...
Well, we took Mom yesterday and it was a hard day for all of us....The admission took long with the manager going over the contract, Beth, my daughter, doing the physcial, and unpacking..Strangely, the unpacking didn't take that long and we went with her to the dining room for dinner....The dinner they served was Ham loaf, scalloped potato and red beets...Not bad at all.. I couldn't eat all the ham loaf, too salty, but the rest was good... We stayed awhile in the afternoon and then came home.. My leg was hurting and I needed to rest...At 5 PM, Beth came with the truck and we loaded up the chair and took that in to her.. We wondered all afternoon, how she was doing, if she made it to the dining room and if she was alright.. We got to the home and I went to the dining room and she was at a table, talking to a man...She liked the lady that sat with her and her room is right across the hall from Mom, so I think they will become friends...I pushed her back to her room and we waited for Beth and Ron to get the chair in the room...Mom's room looks nice, but today, the maintance man is going to move her bureau to another wall, so that Mom's chair is closer to the TV....but Mom has lots of room to navigate around the room and get to her things.. Her room is bright and cheery...
Today, I have to get the oil changed in the car and pick up Cody and friend at the high school and take him home...Monday night Cody has a motor cycle accident and is all skinned up and hurt.. He hurt his elbow and his knee is hurt, that he has to have an MRI and see an orthopedic doctor as the X ray showed something loose in his knee....I am not sure what time I will go see Mom... Depends on how I feel... I know I have to get myself ready for Monday, but I wonder all the time how Mom is doing...Beth is at the home during the day, so that in itself is a blessing.. I just hope Mom tires to help herself and that she doesn't fall....
Everyone take care and enjoy your Wednesday....
Hugs, Mary
Hauke – You sure are having a lot of heat. I don't remember it being this bad for you in years past. I hope you have cooler temps and lower humidity very soon. It's strange that your carbon monoxide detector went off. I'm glad it was just an error (or whatever the term is).Deb – You got a lot done on your days off. Your summer veggie dinner sounds wonderful. Poor Sharon. I think I would go with the recheck also. I sure hope it doesn't get any worse for her. Yes, Maycee did enjoy the fair. It was a little warmer than I would have liked but we did okay.Susan – I'm so very glad that it was just fluid build-up. What great news. I hope the shot will take care of it.Mary – I'm really glad your mom seems to like the nursing home and I'm glad she met some people that she enjoyed talking to. I'm sure she will do find, but I'm also sure you will worry about her. That's only natural. Poor Cody. I hope he heals soon. My brother had a very bad accident on a motorcycle once and he said he would never get on another one again and I don't think he has.Doris – I'm hooked on the Hutterites show. Boy, that Claudia is really a rebel, isn't she? I was reading on the Internet about it and the colony had signed a contract to do the show, but they said National Geographic is really manipulated the scenes to show them as being people that constantly swear and drink and they said that isn't the way it is. But they couldn't get out of the contract. We had a great time at the fair yesterday. Maycee even got to ride a pony. I wasn't sure if she would do it or not, but she wasn't scared at all. When she was done, she said "more", meaning she wanted to do it again! We never did find the petting zoo though. I was sorry we missed that.
Good morning, everyone.
Always feels good to report a nice, breezy day.
MARY, glad mom is situated and it sounds like it will be OK for her at the home. Now, you have to have a restful weekend and get yourself ready for Monday. At least mom made friends and your DD is there. Sorry to hear about Cody. I always wonder about the cycle riders I see in shorts and no helmet. And, we see many----the Harley dealer is up the road from us about 1/2 mile.
JOYCE, how did the day at the Fair go? We get reports of all the food on a stick that is being served at our State Fair. Boxers are nice dogs, but kind of big. But, I always like the bigger dogs, we had a Black Lab. I think Diego is a friend of Dora, but there is a show called Go, Diego, Go, too.
DEB, your SisIL has to watch that area and then make the right decisions. Tell her my prayers are with her. Russell finally had to mow----the little rain we had did encourage grass growth.
SUSAN, what's the word? Good thoughts for you.
PEGGY, I know just what the plant stand looks like, had one a long time ago. And, I know with your enhancements the stands will be looking mighty fine.
HAUKE, that was a scary thing to happen. Good that the neighbor's BF could help you. Don't you be climbing on any chairs or ladders.
Just got the word we are going for a ride. So, that will mean lunch out, also. BBl
Hugs and prayers for all.
Nancy Z.
Hello, I'm checking in to see how Mary's mom is doing at the new place.
Susan, glad they gave you a shot and it should get better for you.
hauke, we had our carbon monoxide thingees go off in February, had to completely take them apart, they were not working right, but never had a problem before. Some others on other boards also mention them going off and not stopping and experts came in and nothing was wrong, either.
Scary about those fires again, Mary, our fire is going now since July 30, they are letting it burn into a wilderness area, where no one lives. You can hear the bombers going over us as they put that red stuff on the flames. The road is sorta closed, glad we don't need to leave until Friday.
Take care, I'll be back later, still need to finish my exercise, bought tires this morning.
Doris
Hi everyone
I feel a little more energetic today - but could be that last night I had a touch of "something". LOL I kept a bowl handy all evening as I just wasn't sure of my stomach - yet kept thinking - what is there to come up. With this heat I just haven't felt like eating, but then last night I realized maybe it wasn't the heat after all. My stomach was queasy since Monday, I just never put the two together. LOL I think it was after 4 this morning that my stomach finally let me fall asleep. Good thing I had no where to be this morning so I just slept. Different tomorrow when I have to be ready for an appointment by 9 am.
Feeling better also means a little more energy so I'm cleaning the kitchen this afternoon. It was so clean when I came home from camp - but I just have been putzing all week. Time to get those counters sparkling again. And I probably should do a load of laundry. I finally emptied my suitcase this morning. LOL
Mary, I'm so glad that mom seems to be settling in. I remember when my folks moved my Oma into her place. They didn't really want to, but in the end it was the best thing they could have done.
My oma lived with them for about 6 months when they first moved into their new home in the mid 80's. They had made two rooms for her - a bedroom and a small living room. Then they discovered that because she lived with family, all her CA pension and old age security or whatever they call it was basically cancelled. As if she wasn't suppose to buy her share of the groceries, even if living with family.
So oma decided she wanted to not live there as a burden and applied to move into a seniors complex. When she did that, her rent was covered by her old age benefits. Initially she had a small apartment and cooked her own meals... then she was "upgraded" to her apartment but two meals a day were provided. Then the last year, she was moved to the nursing home side where there was 24/7 nursing care. When she fell on Christmas Eve '97 and then died the next day, she had been in that complex for almost 14 years - and it was all covered by her old age security, not my mom and dad. I think it would have been cheaper for the government to just pay her portion of rent & food at my folks ... instead of the $1000s they paid at the center. I never will understand the government mentality.
Susan, I'm glad to hear your foot was nothing serious. Hope the shot clears things up quickly.
Deb, I don't know how you can run and serve in such humidity. Do you have AC at work? I sure hope so.
It's still hot here and I've decided to run a few errands this afternoon. I know it will be hot outside, but I have to get this banking and mailing done, plus I never did get any groceries on Monday as I planned since I just wasn't feeling good. When I'm done with the rushing around, I've decided to go for chicken at Swiss Chalet ... more because I know it's always so cool with their AC! Yup, I'll go out for supper just so I can get into some AC!
Well, I better get back to the kitchen. Want to finish those counters before I go so I have a place to put the veggies when I get home.
