I just went to a diabetes seminar this past weekend. We were given a sheet of paper that says if you call 1-800-218-3587, you will be able to upgrade to a OneTouch Meter at no charge!

It's true - I called it today! (Apparently you have to call during business hours). They'll ask you a few questions ... name, address, phone number (although I told them I did not wish to give them my phone number, and they said it was okay!), what kind of meter you're currently using, and how old it is (it's suppose to be more than 1 year old).

Then they ask you which meter you would like. Your choices are OneTouch UltraMini, OneTouch Ultra 2 or the OneTouch UltraSmart. I chose the UltraSmart - I saw them demo it, and it's amazing all the information it keeps, sorts, graphs, averages, etc!!!

Anyway, I thought I'd share with you.

Oh, they told me with shipping, it would take about 5-7 days to receive it!

Go ahead - treat yourself to a new meter . . . at no charge!!!

    Thanks for that info Susie.

I just got a new meter this week. Mine stopped working about a month ago - they told me the batteries were dead so I went shopping. I lost track of how many places I tried to find this right size of battery - no luck. I was really getting frustrated, so I asked my pharmacist where they get the batteries from as they came with the meter. He didn't know so he gave me the number to call the company and complain.

I called last Saturday, expecting to get a voice mail for the weekend. Nope, I had a live person on the first ring. He said he would ship me new batteries, no charge. He told all my info and said it would go out Monday. A couple hours later he called me back and left a message saying he couldn't find the batteries. I sure laughed at that! but he also said he's sent me a new meter.

Well, Wednesday, via UPS, I received my new Freestyle Freedom meter. It's so tiny compared to what I had before, but it used the same strips.

I was very impressed with the customer service and the fact that they could get it to me so fast as the fella told me he was in Kentucky or somewhere way south and I'm in Canada. All with no charge to me... and no customs hassle.

Now if I could just get those numbers to look newer... on the lower scale. LOL

Susie, thanks for the news on the free meter. I have been using the one touch ultra smart for over a year now. Since I'm technically not diabetic anymore, I only test sparodically so the graphs don't help me. But I did like all the bells and whistles it has.

I am using a one touch ultra 2 and have quite a few strips on hand-I wonder if the strips would work on the UltraSmart. I think mine will be a yr old in just a month or two.

I have the One Touch Ultra. I don't test that regularly since I am pre-diabetic, but I think the real reason I don't test, is that I forget too. LOL
