  • New to being a diabetic

I was just diagnosed about a month ago. I have been posting on TOH for a few years, but have really cut back on posts except for the Farm Wives thread on the BackYard Chat section.

I am on Metformin and have not been doing too badly on that.  I was always diabetic when I was pregnant so I was not unfamiliar with the whole thing.  The only thing was when I was pregnant,  it was not difficult as long as there was an end in sight.  Now, I there is no end in sight and so it has to be my "new normal" and that has bummed me out some.

Grocery shopping takes forever compared to before, LOL.  I never was into the sweets so much so that has been pretty easy to skip.  It's the starchy things that appeal to me, potatoes being my downfall.

Welcome 22Busy!! Sorry you are hear because of diabetes though. I take Metforim too. 1/2 pill in the AM and the other 1/2 at supper.  I have had no problems with the Metforim at all.  I like the sweets and starches...just love those mashed potato's, etc. Sweets are something I am okay with, IF I don't start eating them because I have no will power. I have been drinking alot of green tea. This afternoon, I made myself some vanilla chai tea and put a little Splenda in it........gosh was that good!!!  Grocery shopping for us is expensive because we have to buy all the fresh produce, fruit and non fatty meats.

Be sure to post on our weekend or daily threads!! Welcome to our Group!!!
