Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.
Hauke, I'll be keeping your father in my thoughts today, as you and other family members talk with those doctors and figure out a plan to help your Dad in his fight now. Praying for your Dad, Mom, and you and everyone in your family.
Doris
Thank you Doris.
Yes .. today is the day - dad finally has his appointment with the team of specialists - or at least the head "liver guy". His appointment is at 1 pm MST ... since it's right after lunch, we're hoping he won't have to wait too long.
I'm not sure yet if Dad wants me to take him. He has to go to the hospital for the appointment and parking at this hospital is a real pain - so I have offered to drive him and mom and let them off at the front door. My brother only lives a few blocks away, so I'd meet with him and have a coffee and wait for dad to call and say he was done.
I told him that would take the hassle out of finding parking or paying the exorbitant price the hospital charges. Guess he'll let me know later this morning. I told them I'd need to leave before noon so we could get them to the appointment on time.
Thanks everyone, for keeping us in your prayers today.
Hauke
Good Morning Hauke, Doris, and ALL To Follow,
Hauke, sending prayers for your father appointment today that all goes well for him...I goofed posting all that food yesterday on IChange...LOL I wanted to add the chick pea salad, which I couldn't, so I listen all the ingredients and it ended up looking like I ate a ton of food...LOL I must have been in there changing things and then just decided to let it go...Sunday, I kinda took a break from dieting, so today, I have to get back on track...I kept track of what I ate, but forgot to add supper..LOL This starts a new week... I sorta think after I weigh in, I can have a little break....LOL Not so...LOL
Doris, I love the pictures you post of FB of your town.. Those building look so old and inviting...I love them!! We had fish one night for supper and I just didn't like it.. It was flounder..DD tells me so much of the fish is being raised in China and to be careful buying it.. I am calling Schwans to see where they buy their fish and even if it is more expensive, it might be better to buy from them, if they buy their fish somewhere other than China.. They say China raises the fish in cess pool like conditions..........GRR!!
It is cold here and now I have a little cold too.. I think the netty pot will take care of it.. I didn't sleep that well last night and was wide awake till 2 AM...I think I dozed off and on, because I don't feel just all that tired this morning...I have to start planning meals, but I do have a lot of good food on hand to choose from..
Deb, anxious to hear what the doctor has to say about your knees...Right now, mine are stiff and I think this cold doesn't help matters.. I want the syn visc shots this spring too...They help a lot...
Joyce, did you enjoy Maycee? Did she learn any new cute things since you last seen her.. I am always amazed at how fast they learn and pick up things..
Nancy, hope you are not too cold either..
Peggy, glad Eugene liked the casino...Must feel good to him to walk around and enjoy himself too..
Take care everyone...BBL To the rest of you, I think of you too and will write more later..
Mary
Good morning, everyone.
Starting out cold, 9 degrees. A little snow coming this evening and a bit of a warm-up.
HAUKE, like DORIS, the other girls and I will be keeping your DF in our thoughts. Lifting him and the whole family up in prayer.
DORIS, thanks for the reminder about HAUKE's dad.
MARY, we eat a lot of fish. I buy cod, haddock or WI's inland lake fish. We really like wall-eyed pike. The store I shop at labels the origin. Sorry you had a restless night after several good sleeping nights.
JOYCE, another fun time for you and Maycee. I loved my times with Robin and Bradley at that age.
ROSEY, that old A1C sure can get to us, can't it? When first diagnosed, I was way above 7. My weight loss came from a pre-WW eating plan and following a diabetic diet. I really did measure everything and ate not one sweet thing. Slow and sure to work on it and you will succeed. But, difficult for you is that you have to feed the others in your family. We just have to ignore some of the foods they can eat. BTW, I still have some to lose, but have not gained for a long time. My family tells me I am "fluffy".
DEB, waiting to hear the plan the doctor has for your knees. Praying.
PEGGY, you found a couple of good buys. Advertising signs bring in big bucks around here. And, the antique dealers bid too much money for individuals to compete. No winnings at the casino, but fun to be there, right?
SANDY, we like waffles, too. I have the Belgian waffle maker. I think your heart maker is great. Guess you'll make some for Pal tomorrow.
Hugs and prayers for all.
Nancy Z.
Rosey – Thank you for the condolences. I'm sorry to hear your A1c isn't where you wanted it, but as busy as you are, I'm sure you will get it down.Deb – Enjoy your days off. It sounds like they will be pretty quiet, which is good. I wish I could get rid of my pantry gremlins for good!Doris – It always sounds like you have such a nice time when you go to the casinos. There is always so much to do besides gamble. Oh yes, Maycee keeps me on my toes.Sandy – I'm glad you had a quiet weekend, since your next 2 weeks will be so busy. The pancakes sound wonderful.Hauke – I too will be praying as your father heads to the doctor.Mary – Yes, Maycee always seems to have learned something new every time I see her.Nancy – The little ones are so much fun. We are to have a little snow tonight, too.I do still have Maycee. The poor little thing is sick again. I had to give her a breathing treatment this morning and that did help. I will be going to their house after work tonight and spend the night there. My niece doesn't want to take her to the babysitter when she is sick. So I will watch her after her dad leaves for her work and her mom comes home from work.
Morning.
Mary ... I'm sure you'll announce it .. so I'll beat you to it this time. Yes - I had a victory on the scale this morning. January was so frustrating as that thing was just not moving. But this morning I dropped into the "next decade down" as I call each set of ten ... like 180 to 170 ... and so on. But at this rate it will be months before I see 180 drop to 170. LOL Sure would be nice to be there for Wyanita's wedding ... but at the rate I'm loosing, I'd have to tell her she can't get married for another 2 years.I know I'm older ... and I remember being able to loose 20-25 pounds in a month. Now I'm average under 10 ... In fact, this morning the total was only 8 pounds since Jan 1 .. but I know the stress of last month send those 8 yo-yoing on and off - so if I could count those pounds I've had to loose twice since New Years, I'd be at about 12. LOL
Why can't these pounds be more like our kid's socks? You know ... the ones they's / we'd loose every month ... never to be found again. Everyone always said the sock monster got them but I don't know about that theory. Wouldn't it be nice if some "weight monster" took our pounds just like the sock monster ate the socks ... and they'd be gone forever?
Aahhh .. wishful thinking.
And I'm rambling. Keeps my mind thinking on other things and not my dad. They decided they didn't want DD Taxi service ... so I'll just wait by the phone until they get home. They seemed in good spirits when I talked to them about an hour ago.
Well, it's lunch time so I'm heading to the kitchen. I'm also thinking of starting a pot of soup for supper. Somehow soup seems to fill me the best and I haven't made any in about 10 days. I'm craving french onion and I know I bought a big bag of onions last week. Well, I start as onion and then I add a few vegetables at the end - like celery and carrots - just so I get more veggies. I just love the flavor of the french onion. I make it from scratch and I let those onions carmalize really really slowly - depending on the amount, it can take 2 hours on low low to get the beautiful carmel color - and that's where the flavor is. Any time I try to speed up the process, I either burn the onions or there's no flavor.

Hauke, what happened on the IChange website.. There is no place to track our food now!! I know they are doing maintance, so maybe that is the reason.....I am losing slowly too...It doesn't take much for me to gain...I used to lose a lot faster too, but I think since it is winter, we are not exercising and going outside like we do in nicer weather... I have a slight cold, so now I am battling wanting comfort foods..LOL Congratulations on your weight loss!! I really think salt bothers my gains and loses quite a bit.. I really need to watch the salt even though I don't cook with it...
Quiet day here.. I took it easy all day and just did what I had too.. I am feeling better and the netty pot is doing its job, thank God...LOL
Just wanted to say hi to everyone..
Mary - it's all there - just a little different process. I sent you a private message over in iChange - messages are still up beside our name ... go read them (I'd sent one before I saw your post and then another with more info). Hope that helps.
Time for supper. I should hear from the folks really soon. I'll keep you posted.
hauke, I've been thinking of you and your parents all day. Sure hope the news is good. Congrats on the weight loss. My scale is down, so I have no idea if I've gained or lost. I have increased the fiber in my diet(most days anyway), so I'm hoping that helps move the scale.
Joyce, so sorry that Maycee is sick. Hard to comfort one so young. Nice that you are going to spend the night there to help them out.
Nancy, I think you are sending more snow. We are to get 1-3 tonight, but start the warm up again tomorrow. Crazy weather!!
Mary, I'm sorry you are battling a cold. Comfort food is always craved during one. I made that fluff dessert you recently posted. Very very good and will definitely be made again. Might try it in a graham cracker crust for a change. There I go, changing a healthy recipe into a not so healthy one!!!LOL
The Dr appt went well. He wants to do knee replacement on both knees, but I told him it was a long ways off due to insurance and work. Then, he suggested a scope on the left knee and I agreed to that, but not until at least April when I get vacation days again. In the meantime, he gave me a shot of cortizone and I am hoping that works for several months, so I won't have to have the scope until fall.
Dinner tonight was white chili. After all the chatter on here last month, I've been hungry for it. Tasted good and on a cold winters' night, even better.
Now, I'm relaxing and hope that after a late afternoon nap, I can go to bed on time!!LOL
Deb
Good evening all. Not much unusual going on today, wash, dishes, swept floors and so on. Cold again but the sun was shining..Eugene did well at radiation tonight and quick Dr visit with the radiation dr. he gained another 1 and half pound, I think I do that daily anymore. Nothing important for dinner, they had italian I ate a sandwich and now my tummy is upset...Hope Haukes dad makes out okay today, wishing them all the best. Joyce, sorry Maycee is ill, it's hard when they are little,, bless her heart. Deb, hope the shot works for you. My sister Joye is having major problems with her knees and the Dr. won't do anything except shots because she needs to loose a ton of weight...Hope all have wonderful evening Happy Valentine's Day early to all of you..Peggy
Hi all!
Hauke thinking of you and your family.
Joyce hope Maycee feels better real soon!
Nancy, I'm on the fluffy side too! :)
Deb, Hope all goes well with your knees and the shot helps.
Pretty day here, getting goodies ready for school tomorrow and baking for the bake sale at Diesy game tonight and getting supper together. I had shopping to do before all this and then off to the game tonight. I more game tomorrow night and then a scrimmage and were done!
Did well on the eating today..I'm trying 3 meals a day and then snacks when needed. And no sugar and trying to keep it low carb. She wants me on 1,600cal. a day. The only part I don't like is the new med she put me on I have to take it and eat 30mins after. That is going to be tricky till I get that down pat.
Hope you all have a wonderful Valentines Day!
