    Good Friday Morning Everyone,

TGIF, to ALL of you....The weeks sure fly by fast, don't they? I am looking forward to a warmer weekend and summer like weather, that is for sure.. We had rain and storms again yesterday..When I was in the hairdresser's, it stormed and poured buckets.. I noticed some poor person had their car windows down...I am sure they had a wet ride home...

Cute TGIF, Hauke... My GD are glad when school is out, but by August are bored and ready to go back to school..Cody is like so relieved when school is out, so happy not to have homework and to sleep late...My GD, Michelle, is leaving for Florida today to spend a week at Disney and the other GC go to camp and do all sorts of fun things too...The kids are kept pretty busy over the summer vacation...

Hope everyone is doing fine.. Enjoy your Friday and eat your veggies...LOL

    TGIF!  Doing the happy dance.

Nancy – The sandwich thins are very good.  You are right, being busy is much better than with nothing to do.  The evenings do go by fast.  I do want to get more tulip and hyacinth bulbs to plant this fall, but I don't think I will do any other bulbs.  I want to go to our farmer's market tomorrow.

Hauke – I'm sure glad your computer is doing good now.  I'm not good at eating soup in the warmer months.  I guess I should because that is a great way to get more veggies.  My nephews have been out of school for a couple of weeks now.  Today is the last day for the students at Indy schools.

Sandy - Good to see you.  It sounds like you had a very nice time over Memorial Day weekend, especially since the girls were there.  That is so sad about the lady from your church that died from a heart attack at 58.  So young.

Doris – I asked my sister how Maycee did on the plane.  She said when it started taking off, she got this funny look on her face, but once they were in the air, she went right to sleep and slept almost until they landed.  We have a chain of grocery stores here called Kroger.  The one in my town is nice but sometimes I go to a different one.  They are remodeling (getting bigger) right now.  It will be nice when it is done.  There is another one that I pass on my way to work.  It is supposed to be the second biggest one in Indiana.  I did go there a couple of times and it is very big.  Too big for me.

Peggy – You did really well at Kohl's.  Isn't it great when you can find things you want and they are on sale.  Oh yes, Ican't wait until tomorrow to spend time with Maycee.

Mary – I am looking forward to fresh green beans too.  I'm glad you like how your hair turned out.

The guy that does the chemicals on my lawn was here yesterday so I talked to him about watering.  He said to do it as often as I can, especially after he puts the treatments down.  So I am watering again this morning.

Peggy, I never thought of Delaware being so darned hot, but why not, we know some Navy people that retired there.

Mary, glad your grandkids go to camp and stuff, good memories and fun.  Do you have fireflies where you live?   Your daughter and son in law might be cold up at Lake Tahoe, it was low temps and there is a north wind blowing all the pollen around, if they go on the cruise around the lake, it will be a bumpy ride.

Joyce, hope your farmer's market has good prices for you.

The garbage guy just came, we tossed out alot of stuff that will have to go anyway when we move.

Fixing dh shrimp stir fry for supper, I just use a whole bag of the frozen veggies for stir fry, and it makes enough for him for more than one meal.  I'm having salmon from the can, and half a dinner plate of steamed brussel sprouts, since their price is decent.  The asparagus was $4.99, still didn't buy any.

That 8 glasses of water thing is a myth, check out Snopes, and other news sources, everything liquid you have during the day counts, even soup, lol.    Plus, if a person is on the pot too often, they lose nutrition, and that isn't good, either.     Check out diabetes.org, diabeticliving.com, etc. for lots of recipes that don't take long to cook, and include protein with every meal.      Wish everyone had a chance to see a dietitian, seriously, it really does help, not trying to be mean or something.   It's important at our ages, and the regular doctor's don't know enough, or give old advice.      Sigh, it ain't easy working our way through this stuff.

I'm heading out the door to run some errands and then heading to my mom's to give her a hand with her thank you notes.  Then we are all meeting at the Swiss Chalet for Wyanita's birthday dinner.  She and I had planned on going for Indian food, but now my folks and DB are coming too ... and chicken is about the only meal my dad can eat out for. ... so Swiss Chalet it is.

Doris .. it was the dietitian I go to at the diabetes clinic that told me for my weight I should be drinking at least 10-12 glasses of water a day.

I did check out snopes and I love their logic that says we all get about 4 cups (8 oz) of liquid in our solid foods that we eat each day.  I chuckle... because I don't even eat 4 cups of total food in a day .. if I stuffed it all in a 4 cup measuring cup... and considering what's on my plate - there is no way I get 32 oz of liquid from my food.  So much for the wisdom of snopes.

I never get 10 cups of water...or liquid most days.

I think the other thing to consider is why are we drinking the water?  I drink it mainly to flush the toxins out of my body .. and I've seen the blood work of what a cup of coffee does to the blood cells compared to what a cup of water does to the blood cells ... now know I love my coffee - the stronger the better - but I also know when I drink it that I am putting a lot of acidic toxins in my blood cells and that it will take effort on my part to get them out.  So I enjoy my coffee... a day or two a week and then the rest of the week I try to avoid it to give my blood a chance to be cleansed of the toxins.

When you see the proof with your own eyes ... with your own blood ... it really doesn't matter what any snope says, or any doctor says ... I know how my body reacts.  I try to drink water to rid the toxins .. and to quench a thirst.

I do agree with the snopes statement that often when we think we are hungry, we really are only thirsty.  So instead a grabbing a snack, I try to reach for a glass of water.  I've been doing that a few years now, and looking back, I am shocked at how snack foods are almost eliminated from my home. ... for the most part.

Well, I better get changed and head out the door or I'll not get everything done before supper.

    Hi, everyone.

MARY, if you're waiting for summer temps, they could be on the way. It is an A/C day here and will be like that all weekend. My girls enjoyed summer camp, too. I even helped at Girl Scout camp a couple of years. Russell and I spent our honeymoon at Disneyland in CA when it had just opened.

JOYCE, the lawn guy just did our yard, too. When we planted more tulips, Russell had an attachement for his drill that made good holes for the bulbs. It worked OK in our clay soil, too. Kroger used to be a food store in WI cities, but now it's mostly Pick 'n Save and The Pig.

PEGGY, we have beans planted, too, but we do the pole beans not bush. Love that salad and I'm the only one in this house that does.

DORIS, I feel that way about drinking liquids throughout the day. I do coffee, water, iced tea and I do have a couple of soft drinks. Thanks, always, for the web sites.

HAUKE, enjoy the meal tonight. Happy B-day to your DD. Glad mom and dad can join the celebration.

Had to do chores, today. Going to a grad party tomorrow. Sunday it's off to Appleton. Russell's DB Franklin and his wife are celebrating their 65the wedding anniversary.

    Hugs and prayers for all.

    Hi Everyone,

Just the perfect day here with lots of sunshine,  not too hot or cool, just right...Now the humidity starts creeping in...I really hope we don't have rain for awhile to dry things out...Our garden is so wet, I hope it doesn't rot the seedlings..

I drink water with lemon.. I like to put a sprig to tea leaf in the water with lemon... I sometimes put a cucumber sliced in the water too...I like  ice water with lemon.. I don't drink Pop anymore, but I am guilty of drinking coffee... I try to limit the coffee to two cups in the AM and one decaf in the afternoon...Ron drinks coffee all day long, but I can not do that, as I wouldn't feel good on that much coffee... I do like McDonald's coffee and have a hard time driving past McD's and not getting a cup of coffee...I was reading on Pinterest about things you can add to water to flavor it and ways that are healthy... I would say, I drink at least 6 glasses of water a day, sometimes more.. I am more thursty  than hungry, most of the time...I used to drink Crystal light, until I realized there was something in those products that just don't agree with me....If I have iced tea, I usually just make it from tea bags and add splenda and lemon...But I rarely do that and stick to mainly water... I am an Almond milk drinker too.. That is so good, especially in smoothies... I am going to stop WW this month and just do IChange....I think I will do better counting calores and not points...

Nancy, years ago,we had a Kroger in Dubois... I used to shop there a lot and always bought birthday cakes there as they were so good with that creamy icing...I am sure your  hot weather is on the way to us....

We didn't plant beans, but I will buy some at the Market.. I love fresh beans cooked with potato's and ham or just plain... I have some greem bean recipes saved on the computer to try too and one is for a salad...

I did lots of odds and ends today and got the wash almost caught up....We took Mom to get her hair done this afternoon, which is nice, because that frees up my Saturday... I want to finish the curtain changing next week, so I might wash a few more curtains tomorrow...Once I got started on the cleaning, instead of moaning about having to do it, the whole process went well...LOL

Hauke, enjoy the meal tonight and wish your DD a Happy Birthday... Can you get your steak and salad tonight??? I know you said you were craving a steak...

Everyone take care and enjoy your evening.. May it be peaceful and restful...

    Mary
