Mary - you asked if I got my steak. Nope. LOL
We actually had one of the most pleasant meals - very relaxed .. very casual. Originally it was going to be just Wyanita and I and I had told her to pick the place. She chose Indian. I've never had it - but she told me there would be things I liked. Considering she's my most fussy eater as a kid and teen, I believed her. She and I have very similar tastes.
But then around lunch time, my mom heard what we were planning and since they had missed the birthday last week with all the other busy - ness .. it was decided they could join us... so we discussed other options. Mom reminded us that dad can't have anything salty - so that took their favorite pizza place off the list ... or anything spicy ... so there went the Indian food and many other choices... or even anything "to much" since dad eats so little these days when he eats. So it was between Tony Romas and Swiss Chalet... and we chose the chicken place and their chicken isn't overly salted. Plus mom and dad could share a plate and dad could just eat a little. Wyanita agreed that was the best option for Opa ... so she and I will go for Indian another time.
It was just the four of us as my DB had a very stressful day and didn't want to leave his home. Conversation was great ... and Wyanita demonstrated her birthday gift. Her fiance had given her a new iPad and both Opa and I wanted a demo. She's still learning it and going for "classes" in how to use it to the fullest next week. It looks like a really neat little machine. I might just have to add one to my dream list. LOL
Guess I'll have my steak next week sometime. LOL For now, it's time to grab my book and curl up for some reading. See you all later.
Good Morning Everyone!
Happy Saturday to you ALL!! No Walmart this morning, but who knows, we might end up in town again anyway....LOL I am always forgetting to pick up something...LOL Tonight is Gabbie's Dance Recital, which I am attending, so my day is full....
Hauke, I never at an Indian Restaurant....I am sure it would be nice and that there would be some different choices... My cousin makes some Indian dishes, but off hand now, I forget what it is she makes... I do know though, she does some Indian cooking.....They use a lot of curry powder, don't they? I was reading that curry powder is so good for you and that you should sprinkle it on veggies...I tried it and it does make the veggies taste good...Hope you get your steak soon....
Not much is new here, but all is well...Our old TV company is stopping by today to look at our TV...We didn;t tell the old company that we are switching company's Thursday to Windstream bundle deal...Our TV is so lousy and we can not get the channels we had before, so if they can fix the tv today, we should have 4 better days of viewing...This has been very annoying....
Have a good day everyone....BBL
The A/C is on and the temp is headed to 90 degrees.
HAUKE, a small but good family lunch for DD's birthday. I've never eaten Indian food either. I know most of the Indian cooks on TV have a tray of at least 8 spices they can use in their cooking. I have watched the show Aarti's Party.
MARY, this is a day open for anything for you since mom got all prettied up, yesterday. Gabby's performance will make you very proud. Our TV never worked well when we had cable. And, their tech blamed the trouble on our TV card. But, it wasn't true so we switched to DirecTV.
Things got done around here and now I want to rest a little before we head to the grad party. Hoping the hosts have A/C 'cause it is getting hot out.
Hugs and prayers for all.
Peggy – Now you have me hungry for the broc/cauliflower salad. Although my body doesn't seem to like cauliflower any more. I can only eat a little bit of it.Doris – Since I had Maycee today, I didn't make it to the farmer's market. I hope I can make it there at some point soon.Hauke – I'm glad you all had such a good time at dinner last night, celebrating Wyanita's birthday. I'm with the others, that I've never had Indian food. I have an iPad on my Wish List, too. But I don't know if it will ever make it into the "BOUGHT" list.Nancy – Our weekend is to be an A/C weekend, too. At least it isn't as humid as I had heard it would get. I've seen those attachments for the drill to dig holes for the bulbs. I bet that makes things easier. Have a good time at the graduation party tonight and the anniversary party tomorrow. Safe travels.Mary – I'm glad you got your mom to Walmart yesterday so you didn't have to do it today. Have a great time at Gabby's recital tonight. I hope the tech guy can get the TV working properly. Yes, if you are still paying for their service, they should make sure it works properly.I thought I was going to have Maycee overnight tonight, but her mom texted me last night and said she was working 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and she would be at my house at 6:15. I told her I would meet her at the hospital. So I got up at 5:15 and got there at just the right time. I was going to take Maycee to this small airport because she loves planes. On the way there, she went to sleep, so I turned around and went back home. We both took about a 2 hour nap. It was so nice. She is so funny and she talks so much more since I last saw her about 10 days ago. I just got home from taking her to her dad.
Speaking of A/C, it was 36 degrees this AM and dh had to light the woodstove, and it was chilly and very windy all day, even now it's chilly and still need the flannel sheets. But the heat is supposed to be coming, at least to the valley, if not up here.
Mary, your daughter and hubby, might be awfully chilly up at Lake Tahoe, it's been windy and cool, and is supposed to start to warm up tomorrow. I hope Gabby's recital went smoothly, and everyone showed up to see it. Do you have to dress up a certain way for that kind of thing?
Joyce, that's funny, that you and Maycee both needed a long nap, lol. That happens alot with small kids, people are just too pooped! At least your Farmer's market has opened up. Up here, it won't start for another few weeks, since it's been too cold.
Nancy, enjoy yourself tomorrow!!
Waving at hauke, Deb, and Peggy.
Good Morning Everyone,
Hope everyone had a good night sleep and feels rested this morning...I don't think I moved last night, once I got in bed...I fell sound asleep, immediately...Gabbie's Dance Recital was nice and I enjoyed it, but it was sure long...I was so stiff from sitting there that long and glad to get up and move around again...LOL Gabbie, of course, did a wonderful job...We gave her flowers for her performance and she liked that a lot...All the kids did a great job...I like to see the real little ones perform....This one little one, didn't want to leave the stage after her dance was over...It was so cute....she just stayed on stage...LOL
Joyce, how cute that you and Maycee needed a nap... I remember Cody, the first time he saw a plane... We were at Dubois Airport and Matt was flying to S.Carolina.. He was in the Marines at that time... Cody was maybe 2 years old and he saw Uncle Matt get on the plane and the plane take off.... He stood at the window, with his mouth open and kept saying, "Uncle Matt is in the air" over and over again..This went on for hours...He was just overwhelmed with seeing the plane go up in the air...
Doris, I just got a text from my DD, who said Lake Tahoe is the "best place on earth" and they are having a great time...She said the cruise was peaceful and is just enjoying the area so much.. I think they packed sweatshirts, and some heavier clothes, just in case they needed it...She said she wants to buy a sweatshirt or two also...I think they are only in Tahoe for three days and then will to Yosemite View Lodge for two days...June 12th Best Western at Yosemite Gateway Inn, Wuksachin Lodge, Sequoia National Park and end up at Harrah's, Reno on the 15th... Quite a nice trip they planned... I am just so glad, that they are having a great time....
Nancy, enjoy all your weekend plans...We are not all that warm yet..Our weather has been beautiful though....
Peggy, I love the broccoli/cauliflower salad too...I don't make that because of Ron being on coumadin, but if we go somewhere and that salad is present, I will eat always go for that......It is so good.. I used to make just broccoli/cauliflower some onion all chopped up and put some Italian dressing on it...That was good too...
Hauke, how was your Indian dinner??? Happy Belated Birthday to Wyanita....
Everyone take care and enjoy your Sunday....
Doris – I think Maycee and I both got up too early yesterday so the nap was really needed. I think our farmer's market starts in May. This one is in a town about 20 minutes away. There are others in 3 small towns around here, but they are all during the week in the evening so I can't make it to those. The one I like is on Saturday morning and has a lot of good things.Mary – I'm glad you enjoyed Gabbie's performance. Maggie always did dance and I really liked going to her recitals. That is so cute about Cody. When Maycee hears a plane she always says "airplane" and then she waves. Even if we are inside. It sounds like DD and DH are having a good time and have a great trip planned. It is to get warmer and more humid today, then rain comes in tonight. Yippee. But I think I will still use the sprinkler today.
Good Morning All!
Weather was beautiful all week here. Yesterday got up to 89 but it wasn't humid & there was a nice breeze so didn't feel too bad in the shade. When you got into the sun though.......!
Garage sale went ok yesterday. Between us & Adam & Rachel we made about $200. Not great but we were able to clear out a few large things that were taking up space. My goal was not to make money as much as to clear junk. We have the left over stuff boxed & bagged, ready to take to Goodwill. There were only a couple of things that we put back into storage because we can sell them another direction. Marty was very happy to have extra space in his garage!
Today, unfortunately, my car has to be dropped off at the dealership so the service department will have it in the morning. The brand new transmission is acting up by shifting hard, slipping gears & making a whining noise. I'm going to research the lemon law in case I need to utilize it!
We also have to go to the grocery & WalMart today so am hoping to get Marty moving early, before it gets too horribly hot. Supposed to go up to around 90 so I hope to be back into the A/C by then!
Well, off to straighten the house & start laundry. Maybe the noise I make will get Marty out of bed! Especially if I make a lot of noise! Have a wonderful day all!
Good morning everyone, beautiful hot day here, supposed to get in the upper 90's today and very humid,,yuk. Mary glad you enjoyed your granddaughters performance, it's nice to see the grandchildren's activities and they can be long.Joyce thats cute with Maycee enjoying the planes, they can think of the funniest things, my nephews one thing was outdoor toilets when he was about 4-5. Hauke glad you had a great time at dinner, nice to have a relaxing no stress event once in a while and you have been on to go lately...Yard saleing yesterday, we just took our time, got a couple of things, one being a nearly new Kenmore vac. with all the attachments for $5.00, the lady had no clue what to charge as it was not her stuff, she was selling for a sister and they none had a clue,,,so I ask price and see said $5.00....got myself a large watering can and bought a very pretty orential table, that I will resell. Went to the slots for a couple hours out for supper and home, Eugene was very tired and sore, the Dr. does not want him on the Oxycotin anymore, so will pic up a presp. at the drug store today, he did not sleep much last night I don't think, I am mad at the Dr. for just up and pulling them from him, should have had a backup in place before now..will speak to him about this at the next appt in a week, they were all about "no pain" now that he is better, things have changed, he still has pain but not to the extent that it was.....grrrrrrr...have a great day all, waving to all I have missed...Peggy
Good morning, everyone.
A little relaxing time before we head north to Appleton. We may stay overnight, not sure, but I always take a bag along just in case.
MARY, glad Gabby did well. I remember the dance recitals and yes, they are long. Nice trip DD has planned----lots of interesting stops.
DORIS, you sure are having nippy mornings. Does it ever warm up to no coat weather? Lots of flower plants at our Farmer's Market plus some of the early veggies like lettuces and radishes. Several Hmoung farmers there with a variety of greens.
JOYCE, Milwaukee's airport used to have a great observation deck, but no more with security the way it is. But, there are a couple places to park and watch the action. It's fun to get an iced drink or an ice cream cone and enjoy the "ups and downs".
SUSAN, checking out the lemon law sounds like a good idea. Hope the problem is discovered and fixed. It sure is a big pain. Amazing how all the little things sold at a garage sale add up like they do.
Have a blessed Sunday.
