I have 11 packs of chocolate chip cookies, we all had to sample a few of them and 4 pecan pies and two cherry crumb pies for Cody...Looks like my DD got a lot of donations and will have a wonderful variety of things to display and sell....I want to try and help her set up this morning and Mom wants to see the whole deal too.. Gabby is having a lemonade stand and might take her key board to entertain the customers...I am sure it will be an attention drawing day...LOL

    Good Morning All!

Had an extremely hot week. Cooled down yesterday so was a bit more bearable. Cool

Am happy Big Smile to report, when we went to the dealership Tuesday night, we were able to work out a deal on a 2012 Ford F150 4-door 4x4. It is a beautiful blue. There is gray across the bottom though. The kind-of funny thing is, the Escape had been doing fine over last weekend, Monday & most of Tuesday. We were only about 5 miles from the dealership when the transmission started shifting hard again & slipping. We both kept praying that it would hold together & behave long enough to get a good deal on it as trade. Afterwards, when we were heading home, we both got to laughing at the thought of someone taking it out for a test drive & the transmission letting go on them. Sick but.........! I'm just happy it's gone. I actually took the truck out on the interstate Wed. & felt safe. Never did in the Escape, even before it had problems. At least that's one less stressor in my life! Stick out tongue

Went to the foot doctor on Wed. & was released. Don't have to go back now for 6 weeks & no more boot. Yeah! Have actually been out of the boot completely for over a week now. Couldn't imagine being in that thing in the 95 degree weather we had this week! Stick out tongue

Today is my eye appointment. Will admit, I'm always a bit nervous about it. I've been diabetic for 30 years as of August [Type 1 insulin dependent] &, with every eye doctor, have been told they couldn't tell I had diabetes. My concern is how far my cataracts have gone. They were found last year but had apparently been there for a couple of years & my previous eye doctor didn't bother telling me. The doctor I see now felt I had another 6-7 years before needing surgery but did state that it could be sooner if the started growing faster. Positive thing about going, I get to pick out new frames every year!

Well, better just into the shower since my appointment is 8:45 & I have to stop at the post office first. Have a wonderful day all!

    God Bless,

    Susan

Peggy – Yes, Maycee wants to hit the keys on the keyboard, so I don't use the computer much when she is here.  The threading does hurt, but I think it is a quick hurt.  It does look really good when it is done.  I've been wanting beans and potatoes myself.  I was talking to my sister yesterday and she said she had made some and they were so good.

Mary – Good luck to Cody at the bake sale.

Susan – I'm glad you got a new truck.  Congratulations on getting rid of the boot.  I know that feels good.  Good luck at the eye dr. today.

Today is Maycee's birthday party.  Right now it feels very nice out.  We aren't supposed to get to 90 today so hopefully it will be nice at the party.

Susan, glad you got a better car and wishing you good luck with this one.

dh is in pain, but otherwise we wait till the appt. on July 3 for the other one, before they take the scalp stitches out.     Just wait and see now, and do the regular routine.

Good evening all. I am getting here late today. Up early and yard saleing, not much out there, just bought a couple of things and finally gave up as we were wasting gas and stopped to McDonalds for a bite to eat and home. Stuff at the booth is not selling so I am at a loss as to what to do with 2 booths full of stuff, I may take some things to an auction rid myself of them, its not just me all the vendors are having problems, most are not making their rent for months..I have 2 booths so I may have to go to one, I had stopping all together as the fall/winter months were really good, we will see. Mary I am so happy the bake sale went well, did Gabby play? Susan glad you are rid of that vehicle and I know you all must be very happy too. We went to dinner at the Texas Roadhouse, the steak was very good and the potato, but the salad was ust so so, Eugene had a pulled pork sandwich and it was good just in to big of pieces, they don't know what pulled means...Will be in a frenzy tomorrow as I am having my dinner for my side..hope all have a wonderful Sunday..Peggy

    Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you all slept well and are feeling fine...For some reason, we were all tired last night and glad to relax...Watched a good movie on TV and rested...

Peggy, Gabbie didn't take her key board to the bake sale...LOL  She made $33 selling lemonaide...Pretty good..Cody made with the baked goods and donation can $631.00 and can start his project for the Eagle Scout award now....So they had a great sale and made a lot of money.. Beth said they sold out of baked goods around 1 PM...So that was really good... Some of the yard sales we have been at this year have not been all that great...So many people selling kids toys and things we are not interested in...Good luck with your dinner today....

We had a chicken BBQ from the local Firemans Hall for supper last night.. It was pretty good.. Ron tried the ribs and said he really liked them... Mom and I had chicken, which IMO, was a little dry, but okay...They gave us so much food you could hardly close the container....They served a very good coleslaw and baked potato, though....It was a good supper and I didn't have to cook...

Not sure what is happening for today. Maybe some catch up with laundry and house work...The week of the 4th is a busy week for us and I will be glad when the first part of July is over...Family reunion week is always stressful and the cataract surgery too......LOL

Take care everyone and enjoy your Sunday...

Doris – I hope DH is feeling better today.

Mary – WOW!  Cody did really well with the bake sale.  And who knew you could make so much with a lemonade stand?  Good for both of them!

Peggy – I wonder why the booths aren't doing very well right now.  I hope July is better for you.  I hope your dinner goes well.  Try to enjoy it and not work too hard on it.

We had a good time at Maycee's party yesterday.  Some of her cousins on her dad's side were there, so she had other little ones to play with.  It was so much fun watching her with them.
Today, I'm going on our town's garden tour.  I think there are 5 or 6 houses that the people open up their flower gardens and you just walk around.  I've gone the past two years and always enjoyed it.  My youngest sister is going with me.  Then I'm having Maycee overnight tonight.

    Good Morning All!

Nice, cool morning here but is supposed to be up to 89 with lots of sun. Cool Hopefully Marty will get the yard done early before it's too bad out!

Eye exam went very well. He is still surprised that he does not 'see' the diabetes in my eyes, especially since my diagnosis was 30 years ago August. My cataracts have not changed which was more good news. Script did change which is every year. I have severe asigmatism [sp?] in both eyes with my left being worse. This year was no different, my left eye changed more than the right, meaning new lenses. Since I'm keeping the frames I just got last year, went ahead & ordered my new lenses with the transitions option as well as the anti-glare coating. Am hoping the combination helps with the sun!

Had a good time at dinner last night with Adam & Rachel. Went to Joe's Crab Shack for the first time & 3 of us loved it. Rachel pretty much doesn't like anything so she is always critical of every place. I don't like seafood so had their whiskey smoked BBQ ribs. They were some of the best ribs I've had in a long time. There choice of sides are limited though but we won't be going there every week. It's about an hour's drive from here so not very convenient.

Ended up we paid for everything. Don't think the kids were prepared for the cost. It was pricey but you got a lot of food. Also, the amount of seafood Marty & Adam had would be very expensive if you tried to fix it at home. Each had one of the boil pots which were about $25. Total meal came to $108 & that included Marty getting dessert. It's a great place for a special celebration just not weekly meals. Stopped at Barnes & Nobles, Gander Mountain & Colestone Creamery (this kids wanted ice cream) on the way back home. Didn't get in until almost 11 pm so we were exhausted. Not the night owls we used to be! Stick out tongue

Today is prep work in the kitchen for the week. I'm working overtime every day so will try to get as much done ahead as possible. Also need to do laundry & change bedding. The week of July 4th I'm taking off, mainly to do the cleaning that my shoulder & foot kept me from doing. Physical work is therapeautic for me so am looking forward to it. Embarrassed

Well, ready for a 2nd Coffee of coffee & to read the paper. Have a wonderful Sunday & blessed week if I don't get back here.

Good morning all.  I wrote a post the other day, and phfft!  It was gone!  Oh well, happens to all of us, I guess.

Doris, hope DH is feeling better.

Mary, I am amazed at the amount of money the kids made!   The baked goods must of looked very, very tasty!!  Busy time ahead of you for the next couple of weeks.  You know, the housework will wait.  No matter how hard I try, it just doesn't seem to go anywhere!!LOL

Peggy, strange that your booths aren't doing well.  Is that a normal thing for June?  I haven't seen near as many yard/garage sale signs this year.  Makes me wonder if people aren't re-purposing items??

Joyce, hope you enjoyed the garden tour.  Sounds like a fun time coming up later today with Maycee.

Susan, glad to hear you got to remove the boot.  I'm with you on not wanting to wear it during that hot spell.  We are to be in the low 80's today, and that's where we were yesterday, so our weather is definitely better.  Could use a day or two of a steady rain.  I've not eaten at Joe's, but my sis and bil love it!  There is one about 35 miles away, and we go by it often, but I am not that big on seafood.  Sounds like you had a long day, but a good one.  I'm sure you are looking forward to your vacation while you are healthy.  Good news on your eye exam.

Our day trip to Pinconning was really nice.  We set the navigation system to avoid highways, so we got to see the countryside.  Bought way too much cheese, but I just love the "squeaky" cheese.  In fact, that is how they advertise it!!LOL  Pinconning mild cheese is alot like a mild colby cheese.  But this was cut right off the wheel for us, so very fresh.  We spent some time driving around the village I grew up in.  What a trip down memory lane for me.  I posted a couple of pictures on facebook of the 2 different houses we lived in so my mom and siblings could see them.  My sis wanted to know how I was able to find the first one.  Evidently, she has never been back, while I have been back there several times over the years.  We only moved from there to Jackson  in 1966!

Friday, I met my sister at a local store and then we went to lunch.  Had a "tourist trio" special.  Delicious combination of a cup of homemade seafood chowder(that part of seafood I do like), a fish taco and a large slice of key lime pie.  Very filling and very good.

Work has been pretty good.  Must be a sign that the economy is slowly improving.  Even saw a couple of new houses being built while on our trip.

I should be outside mowing, but don't feel like it.  Maybe I can get to it on my days off.

    Later all.

Gee Mary, what alot of money your daughter made for her son, wowee!!  It proves, people arn't going to spend alot of money on something they can't eat, during this economy across our land.    There are barely any yardsales up here going on, and decorative things arn't selling.    How nice that your grandson even has a troop of scouts to be a member of, we don't even have that up here anymore, either.

Maycee's party sounds like it was great, and fun for her to have other tykes to play with and learn from.   Joyce, I hope the garden tour is wonderful, I remember you enjoyed them so much before.    Have fun tonight with Maycee, also.

Susan, hope you get all of your chores done that you want to do.  I need to do some stuff ahead also, we have to go down to the valley twice this week, wastes all day each time, besides missing the exercise.

Deb, you are busy as ever!

hauke, how was the Indian food?    How is your Mom doing?

My dh still has pain, and we change the bandages out finally in a few hours, he gets to shower quickly before that, but can't get his head wet.

    Have a pleasant day.
