Hi, I am back again. Couldn't get hold of the dr. as he was at a meeting until 10 a.m. The nurse called at 10:30 and I explained the problem. She was going to talk to the dr. and called back about 11:30. Apparently DH is allergic to penicillin, but it is only noted once on his record from many years ago. Guess we didn't realize that! Anyway, he said to continue the pills, but have things to watch for yet.
It is still very sunny and windy. It is 83*, and the weatherman just said we could get rain and maybe storms until about midnight, then cooler temps coming in. A couple of nice days, then rain over the weekend!
I couldn't mow yesterday as it was so very windy. Was planning to do so early this morning, but then had to stay in and wait for the phone. Now I don't want to go out and mow in that hot sun. Does it seem to anyone else, that the sun is much "hotter" than it used to feel? It must be the thinner ozone layer, I think. I love the sun and always could take it very hot, but it just seems it almost burns anymore. And I have never sunburned, except on my nose! LOL My hayfield really needs mowing!!!
Email sure was busy this morning. First I got one from Diane saying that Circle member Barb had her pinkie and ring finger on the right hand cut off yesterday while working with the corn auger. She had surgery this morning in LaCrosse. May have damaged some tendons, also. This is the gal that does absolutely beaufiful quilt work! Prayers that she will be able to continue in the future.
Then I got an email from another woman from church telling about the DD of one older member. This woman has MS and been in a wheelchair for years. She just had heart bypass surgery. Her Mom is 86 and still helps tie quilts. These e-mails were sent to all the women in church who have emails, lots easier than to have to make lots of phone calls!
SharonF, I'm sure being a nurse you understand so much of what is going on with your DH, but with emotional ties, it makes is so much more difficult to deal with everything. I often wonder how medical personnel deal with situations when it is a family member. You are showing us, it is just as hard as it is for any of us.
I couldn't get to the GN after late afternoon yesterday either. Kept getting Service Unavailable.
Grammy, I celebrate EVERY day when DH has a good one! And thank God every night for all the blessings He sends us. Some days that list is kind of short and on those nights I ask for His help! He always comes through!
Laurie, fix the computer yourself!! I bet you can do it!
Well, better look around and see if I can find anything to do - at least anything I WANT to do. Can't even spray Roundup in this wind and the hot sun would sure make it work fast! Just can't win!!
Heaat index is up to 108. YIKES!!!!!!! I'm trying to stay cool.
MJ I still watch Days. Hard to say who killed Stefano. He had alot of enemies.
ATV Prayers for your DD surgeries tomorrow.
Well you know Cleo folks on soap Operas often come back to life LOL . I think I remember that also but I was working back then so only saw it if I had a day off but my DH kept me informed . Somehow I think this time he is really gone. Perhaps he wanted to retire.
It is really hot here and I am still ironing. I have been at it most of the day just took an hour off to watch Days and back at it . Heck i found slacks I did not know I owned LOl . One pair I think I only wore once washed them and hung them up in the basement and for got about them. Happy to find them they fit well now and I think will be good with some of my tops. I went through a time when I was trying to find slacks that fit the way I wanted them to and frankly forgot about some of them so now I find I have a lot more slacks than I thought I did . I think i can throw out a few of my very old pair. Loved them back in the day but legs are way to big to suit me now. I have five pair to iron. They are sprinkled and waiting. DD said why do you iron them. Well unlike the young people today I think pants especially cotton ones need to be ironed. Who wants to look like they slept in their clothes. If it was not for me she would not have anything ever ironed. KIDS!!!!
Lily I don't think the sun is any hotter I just think you are finally reacting to it like most of us do LOL. I need to mow also but it was too wet and now way to hot. Not going to make myself sick just for the sake of short grass. Ok back to the ironing board I go only five pair of pants to go and I will call it good enough for today.
MJ
Hi Grannies. Home from Bible Study and lunch then it was time for a little rest. Now I need to find something to do. 91* and a little breezy. Always seems to be a breeze here.
MJ hope you get the ironing done. I don't have many things that need to be ironed just a few things. I don't like the messy wrinkled things either. I have some pants that don't even look good after they have been ironed! Mostly T shirts for summer and I get them from the dryer right away and on to a hanger so ironing needed for any of them.
Well a big DUH for me ... I don't even know what day it is! Lily, I sent you good wishes for Thursday! Enjoy that day too.
I need to find something to do. Too much sittings broadens my sitter ..
We just got a call from the mechanic who is working on DD's van and he says that the new master brake cylinder DH bought and put in was "faulty". Don't know how many times he has had such happen in the last few years. They will fix it with another new one. Hope that puts her back in business, then my taxi can rest some! Oh... that would be so nice...
MJ - I do my best not to iron anything. I try to be quick to get things out of the dryer, but like Grammy says, some things don't even look great after you iron them. The new stretchy woven cotton is comfortable, but doesn't look good. DH loves stiffly starched dress shirts, but I've weaned him off of that... I usually try to please him in little things like that, but just can't get excited about ironing. Starch messes up the iron, too!
Cleo, ironing stiffly starched dress shirts would mess up my usual sunny disposition as well as my iron I'm sure the diagnosis of a faulty part for the van restored dh's confidence in his mechanical skills.
I iron many items.... shirts need that nice crease in the sleeve and the slacks need the crease as well. I don't iron sheets, terry towels or wundies and socks, but pretty much everything else gets ironed, I don't like the out of the dryer look, I don't care how quickly I get them out. Mom has a very hard time standing but still irons the same as she did years ago. Guess I am too fussy too. Up until two years ago, I scrubbed walls spring and fall too. That I had to give up because of my stupid back. LOL Now it just gets a dust mop now and then. To each his own. :)
Buddy is home from the groomer and he should feel much cooler besides looking and smelling fine. hehe
It's looking like rain again, we surely don't need anymore for a few days. The humidity is still too high even though the temp isn't too bad at 76. The a/c is still on, mainly because of the humidity. I'm still hoping it will turn nice enough to be able to turn the a/c off tonight or tomorrow.
Hmmm, me thinks it's popcorn time.

UFF DA! That wind must be coming out of Montana and just keeps gaining speed! It is just terrible out there! I hung some laundry on the line and the first things were almost dry by the time I hung the last stuff! I've been sitting on my swing, reading, and it is swinging me pretty good with no effort on my part!
My Daisy is so happy that I'm outside with her all the time. She follows me wherever I go and lays down nearby. She is such a people dog and loves to be around anyone. She has been laying right under the swing all afternoon.
Ironing! I never mind it and do some every week. Always have tablecloths in the laundry and have to iron them, along with shirts, blouses, slacks, skirts and anything else to make them look neat. Pillowcases and the top hem on sheets, too. But I always sit and iron. No problem with it and much easier on my back. The board is set up in my sewing room, so easy to get to whenever I need it.
MJ, I can still tolerate the heat with no problem, but to just sit in the sun beating down on bare skin feels just like it does if you stand to close to a bonfire and the heat burns on your arms or forehead. And I have never noticed it like that until the past year. Our weatjermen have a blog where one can send any weather related questions and they email a response. So I wrote them one earlier and waiting to see what their answer might be.
Grammy, I get so confused on which day of the week it is anymore. That is why it is so good to put the day and date on the white board on the Fridge. Keeps me on MY toes!
It is very gray looking to the west, but no rain yet. The sun keeps playing peek-a-boo, but isn't "peeking" as much as it was earlier. Computer says 82*, feels like 84* and wind gusts up to 35 mph. I keep watching this big limb in the tree that is broken and hanging, thinking the wind will finish it, but it just swings back and forth. It is to high up for us to do anything about.
I did get some more lawn cut. It isn't too bad around the house, so can wait a couple of days. Did some close in to the woodlot, but oh, what a mess in there. I would love to get in and work at it, but just such a mess and can't drive the tractor (even the lawn mower) in there. I did it all on foot years ago, but for some reason not as ambitious as 30 years ago! LOL
DH's infection (?) seems to be getting better. At least he isn't sleeping all the time as a few days ago and is a wee bit stronger when he walks, so that is good. PTL!
I don't iron much anymore. DH wears colored T-shirts & I live in T-shirts in the summer. I take them out of the dryer & just fold them. I have to iron some of my shorts.
It's still hot here. Tomorrow too. Gets cooler by Friday.
LILY Glad Marv is feeling better.
Hi Grammy. I don't care for this Google Chrome or at least I'm to dumb to learn how to deal with it. I have trouble changing to a different site. It doesn't switch as easily as Explorer did. At least not to me! Earlier we had two very quick electric on and offs. My computer shut down, but came right back on. When I clicked on the GN now, I had 3 replies and don't know how they came to be there!? They were posted earlier, so it must have had to do with the computer going on and off. Well, MJ, I'm having the same problem as you. Can't get this to make a new paragraph? I'll try later with a new reply page. It is thundering out, and we've had a brief rain shower. I was taking Daisy to her coop as I saw a few drops. By the time I hooked her chain, and started to the house, it began harder and my shirt was soaked when I got to the door. It came in a torrent and was over by the time I got in the house!
Just checking to see if anyone can chat tonight. I see Lily is speechless Supper was good. DGD#2 is here and tonight she cooked. Shrimp satay over rice. Yuuummm.
I'm checking in, but not sure how long I'll be here - Tired tonight and my back hurts, so may go become a couch potato. I do have to apologize to everyone for leading you down the wrong way in greeting Lily and Marv this morning, It's right here on my calender, so not sure how I got it wrong on there but I did. Sorry, Lily-my intentions were good.
I got my shingles shot after work - so I hope I never have to deal with that. I have been intending to do that for some time, but kept forgetting. Had to go to the drug store to get a new script, so thought I may as well bit the bullet and do it. Now that's done.
Came home and did a few things, and made some mac and cheese for supper. It was statement day today, so that may have something to do with why I am sorer tonight. I'll check back.
OH, these computers do strange things. I typed my last reply on one of the pages I had edited blank, so my reply came up ahead of Grammy's and Jane's posts. ????
Jane, I don't know where you got that date. On the list it states 9/20. Maybe you forgot to turn the calendar page somehow when you jotted it down. No big deal!
I have no idea how or what I did, and it was long enough ago, that I don't remember --
I'm going to head to the chair now - I'd like to stay awake until bed time, but I don't know.
Talk to you in the morning.
