Hi Grannies. I didn't blow away in the storm but I thought I might!. The storm came thru here about 4:30 with high winds and warnings to head for the basement! Everyone was down here sitting in my little kitchen area. The electric went off and stayed off till about 10 this morning. Oh, how I wished for a generator like the one I had put in my house! The wind howled and it was raining side ways. There was lots of lightening some large hail. Not a tornado, it was reported to be straight line winds of 70 to 90 mph. Those winds are rare in Ohio more common in MN. No serious damage here, the greenhouse was destroyed. It was a very cheap poorly constructed thing so no great loss. The house and pen we kept the pigs in was demolished. No problem the piggies no longer need itBig Smile Other than that just some things blown around to be picked up.  There was part of tree broken off along the Elec. Co right of way. That must have been the cause of our outtage. The repair men were working behind our barn when they finished we had electric again. Not quite 18 hrs till it was restored. Some will be waiting a week or more to get theirs repaired. We have a gas range in the kitchen the automatic ingniter wouldn't work but a match did the job. We could cook. No dishwashing or flushing because we have a well and a pump. All is well here now. I cleaned the kitchen while the others cleaned up outside. God is good, no injuries, our house isn't damaged and nothing serious destroyed.

Now we are getting ready for a birthday party tomorrow. Soraya will be 4. Company will be arriving soon. Chef's sister is coming from FL. His parents will meet her at the Col. airport then come here. Mom and sis will spend the night. Dad will go home tonight. He wants to attend church in the morning. A priest is leaving and this will be his final service. Then he will be back to party with us. The mom has MS and we thought this would be easier for her. I'm taking a little rest time hope to BBL

Grammy, out weatherman was accurate. Last night he talked about the storm across Il; In. and Ohio having straight line winds from 70 to  90 mph and I see you were the recipient of some of them. Aren't they terrifying? To see the wind blowing the rain sideways and the noise is indescribablle. We have had two minor tornadoes and 3 destructive Straight line winds here. When the first one, that literally destroyed our Woodlot, people said they never happen here, but occur out on the flat Plains!  Now it is a sign that our weather patterns have certainly changed over the years. I never heard of tornadoes or Straight line winds growing up in Mich. either! Now common everywhere.

You are lucky you didn't suffer more damage. We've have lost so many trees or limbs due to the winds, and on May 30, collapsed our two-story hog barn. How are the garden crops? These winds can cause havoc on  cornfields at this time, also.

This has been a very lazy day. I did do 4 loads of laundry, mainly just for something to do. Now what will I do on Monday? Smile I cleaned house yesterday and no gas so I couldn't  mow. Too hot to do that in the sun anyway. It is 87* with dew point 62* and humidity 43%. But not much breeze today. I've just been sitting on my swing most of the day, without even anything to read. Just looked at my TOH cookbooks.

Most of the Grannies are busy going here and there. Not for me anymore, I'm quite content to stay home, but do need books to read!

    Hi, grannies.

Still hot and dry here. No precip in sight. We are watering the flowers a lot.

GRAMMY, sorry about the damage. Those high winds can be so scary. Glad you and the family are safe and well.

ICOOK, a gentle rain would be nice and cooling. Stay in the A/C and be comfortable.

MAMMA, the food store near us is getting competition from Aldi's, WM and a specialty store, so they have milk at $1.99 a gallon until further notice. It's been that way for two weeks, now. I like your projects on your blog.

GLEE, the music will be nice to listen to, but too hot for cutting a rug, eh?

JANE, the bell choir reunion should be good. Laura and I were to play for the hymn of the day tomorrow, but now the hymn was changed, so we don't have to. We usually volunteer when a couple of players are needed.

After our big breakfast this morning, we had a very light lunch. And, now we will be happy with a taco salad for dinner. Best part-----Laura is making it and cutting up all the ingredients. That puts a smile on my face. Big Smile

    Stay cool and hydrate, grannies.

It is still humid here, but not as hot.   Temps. are going down.  Thank goodness.  They want it hot thru next Saturday.  AC is getting a good workout.

    Good evening grannies,

Nancy, we decided not to go to the street fest tonight just too hot, I would rather stay in my air conditioned house, I do like that band and would like to get out and dance a little but we will do it another time.  We had taco salad tonight also, quick and easy for me.

It's hard to beet a good toco salad, and I usually like them at home as well as out - I prefer chips to the bowl/shell.   I had a chicken salad sandwich on a sandwich round and cole slaw.  May have some watermelon later - I didn't think it had a great deal of flavor when I cut it, but maybe my taste is off on that also.   It's nice and red and sounded good when I cut it.

Grammy, sorry to hear those straight line winds caught you.  Glad to hear you all and the house is safe - hope the crops are as well.  They were talking about them south of us around that time too - Up here, only a very few sprinkles, maybe not even that, as when I was going to meet SIL I had a few, but didn't need the wipers.

Not a very exciting day here - not nearly as much fun as I had last Saturday!

Sounds like any chances of showers are very scattered and chances at best.  I haven't been out much today - A little around noon, and then back in again.
