Good Morning Ladies
Another beautiful morning - too bad the day can't stay this way -- It would be a lovely break - I had a hard time waking up this morning. I was in a deep sleep when the alarm went off, and I just seemed on slow motion for awhile. The shower helped me get going and felt so good.
Nothing new here for me - I couldn't even come up with enough to come and chat last night. I was just tired from not sleeping well the night before and just being a slug I guess - mentally and physically!
I have a 5:30 appointment in La Crosse today, so will leave work a little early to get there and get parked and all in time. I will lock the doors at 3:30 and leave shortly after. Should be a nice day for that drive along the river.
Think breakfast will be yougart and a slice of Debbies banana bread . Yummy
Morning GB - I slept hard last night. I was sooo tired. Ended up watering my flowers even though it looked and sounded like it was going to rain yesterday. It never did rain and I hadn't watered for a day or so and things were looking terrible. DH and DGS got some house painting done and it looks good where they painted. I picked what LOOKED like the same color as the house and it turned out to be the same.
DH and DGS are reading meters today. We have a 60% chance of rain every day this week. Hope it will rain after they read meters. Otherwise, I'm ready for a quiet day here.
Your breakfast sounds good, GB. I'm having cereal with strawberries. Then I'm off to my walk.
Good morning, grannies.
JANE, a nice cool morning here, too. But, some heat is coming as the day moves along. I don't always have tons of news at chat time either, I just stop in to say HI. Have a nice river ride later on.
CLEO, hope the boys will be dry while they read meters. Won't the house be fresh looking when the painting is completed? When our rain prediciton is for 20%, I know that means 80% chance it won't rain. So, my hose is ready to go each morning, too.
Errand morning for me-----have to get over to Penzey's for my free spice. BBL
Good morning, a nice cool morning here. Each of the dogs have been walked. Fresh coffee, toast and bing cherries to share. I need to put Lexi's lunch together as she has preschool this morning, which will give me some free time. I noticed my water filter on the fridge needs to be changed. I thought bought two last year about this time, but can't find one, so guess I'll be making a trip out to get one. Lexi noticed the cookie jar was empty, so maybe I'll do some baking.
We got a shower yesterday, just enough to wet the walks. The heat is moving in aagain for the weekend, but not as severe as we've been having. Our poor farmers who feed us and the world. Prayers needed for our farmers. Another blow to our stuggling economy.
Time to get dressed and start moving. Have a great day. Sharon F.
Good morning grannies,
Jane, you and I are on the same wave length, I just said hi yesterday, was reading posts but didn't have anything to add or not the energy to add it. I had Debbie's bread for breakfast this morning too. Have a good drive tonight, how can you just close at 3:30?
ATV, windows are still open here but it is heating up so who knows by this afternoon. How did you get a free spice at Penzy's, I need to get on that list.
Cleo, I am still watering flowers here, no rain in sight. we have a sprinkling ban on for grass etc. Hope the boys stay dry and not too hot while reading meters.
Sharon, thanks for the reminder about the water filter for the fridge, better check mine, something I can put on DH's list. You are right about the farmers they certainly can use our prayers this year.
Off to work I go

Good morning.A sunny 60º morning, no breeze, but it's at least cool! I've turned off the a/c and opened up the windows. A load of wash will go on the lines today and I won't bead while hanging the clothes on the lines. Has anyone noticed all the school supplies in WM already? Doesn't it seem a bit early to you? If I were still working at the school and saw that, I'd be depressed the rest of the summer. hehe Everything is pushed forward so quickly.Yes, Jane, it would be nice if it stayed this nice all day. Enjoy the ride!!
Cleo, good to hear that the paint matched the house. You did good. hehe Lots of watering here too, morning and evening most days.
Nancy, I hope the stores have everything on your list.
SharonF, after you buy a new filter the other one will show up. But you will be ready for next time then. Another heat spell working it's way in here too. We so need some rain soon.
Glee, thanks for reminding me, I need to run the sprinkler in back for awhile this morning too. So dry. Have a good day at work.
Off to the shower then get the wash started and then to the weeding. My flowers are buried in weeds.

Morning Cooler temps. here too. I'm keeping the AC on as it will be hot again by Thursday. If I turn it off the house will get hot & the AC will have to work harder. AC is helping with my allergies as they are so bad this year. Had to call the dr. yesterday to give me a scrip for the drainage.
Back again, a really nice breeze. Lexi is at preschool. The oven is heating for banana bread.
My daughter has purchased my GC's school supplies. As a teacher she always has a lot of prep work to do in Aug. and school seems to start a lot earlier than when we went back after Labor Day. The kids are on their second round of swimming lessons, continue to miss their puppy, but I've got a feeling it's actually a relief for my daughter as you are so tied down during the puppy stage. The kids will be here next week as Sophie has her cardiac checkup.
I now have all the throw rugs in front of the entryways up as Teddy has pulled a long string from one and insists on scratching the rugs for entertainment. Not great rugs, but I was afraid that he might eat the string and end up with a bowel obstruction. My cousin just lost her lab during surgery as he had swallowed some twine from a pull toy. To make matter worse they had recently woke up to find their small dog had passed away in his sleep.
I'm sure not getting much done with this new puppy as I'm constantly on the watch. He is spending more time in his kennel and I guess Nora did also at that age.
Well better get baking. Sharon F.
Good Morning on the start (a late one) of another GLORIOUS Summer Day! 70*, going to mid-80's and a brisk breeze. I've been out and around on our dry, crispy yard, looking at everything. Then came back and folded all yesterday's laundry on the table on the deck. I don't do anything in the house if I can do it outside! Even get dressed out there! Just have to listen for cars coming! There are sooooooo many advantages to living waaaaay out in the Boonies!!! LOL Last Thursday when it was so humid, I even sat out in my skivvies all afternoon, with a robe handy if necessary! DH sat in the house in his! I eat my meals out there, too.
The Amish fellow came last evening and looked at my roof. Just the back addition where our bathroom and back entry is located. I will stop at his place in a couple of days to get his estimate. Think it is going to be more $$$ that I was expecting, but must be done, as it is looking rotted underneath. Oh, well, when one can't do it yourself anymore, we have to pay. Just not used to it!
Mamma, our school begins on August 20, and Iowa is usually earlier than us. So it is getting time to start thinkng about getting supplies ready. Especially if a family has several children for whom to buy. Probably have to do one child a paycheck, as the schools are requesting more and more items it seems. About all I ever bought was crayons, pencils and paper, it seems. Our Circle members always buy a bunch and give to our Elementary school to pass out.
SharonF, no rain here and none in sight to speak off for almost the next two weeks. The corn here is still looking good, but our County Extension Educator (goes to church with us) was on the Rochester News last evening with a farmer from this area (I know that family, too) and they were talking about the dry conditions. The corn was starting to show a little stress, from bugs as much as lack of water. Dry conditions bring out more bugs.
Talking about bugs, those little gnats or whatever, are just terrible. The hover around one's head and get in the nose, ears and behind glasses. I sit outside reading and just waving my hands around my head constantly. So aggravating!
Guess I've covered all I know. Was going to Decorah, but then decided I really don't need anything down there that I can't find in Cresco. So will just go there later and then make a stop at the Amish stands. They are there on Tues. and Fri. from 2 to 5 p.m. Hope they have a few fresh tomatoes, I'm craving one!
Have a great day and enjoy SUMMER! Only about 6 weeks until school begins again and you know that makes one think FALL!
Hi Lily, isn't it pleasant here in Iowa! The Japanese beatles are really bad around here. Many trees are losing the lacy looking leaves where the beatles ate everything but the veins. This plus the drought makes me wonder how many trees will die. It takes so long to replace the years of growth. I'm thankful that I don't have the flowers and trees that attract them. The bags people are putting out to trap them reak and must cost a fortune because they fill up in less than a day.
This year my GC in Ames are required to have a $15.00 set of headphones to be kept at school. My daughter is unaware of why and is a teacher in the system. Her school e-mail is down so she isn't too happy. School lunches, extra tennis shoes, lots of school supplies, kleenex, hand sanitizer, not to mention clothes. What is next, maybe toliet paper.?!! Of course the kids also have some extra out of school activities. School supplies used to be simple; a small box of crayons, pencils, paste, lined paper, and a ruler. My mom read by kerosene lamp. Soon the kids will all have an IPad or computer in school. My nephew gets a computer this year in 9th grade. What a different world.
Lily, you made me smile thinking of you on the porch grabbing a robe. An On Golden Pond moment. Why not! I walk the dogs in my neighborhood in my robe. Small pleasures of not having to dress for work anymore.
My youngest son is stopping by for lunch. Glad he's coming as I don't see him often due to his busy schedule. I have several kinds of fresh delicuts, so am prepared for once. My traveling son and his wife arrive back in Iowa tomorrow from Spain. My oldest son just called and said his physical went well. I find that hard to believe given his alcohol use, but know doctors pick and choose their battles and alcohol is a subject most avoid until the patient has already developed the health problems.

The banana bread is cooling, got a little browner than I like. Always enjoy that first warm slice with a little butter. Better take the dogs out before lunch.
HI Grannies. It's a pleasant day here in Central OH. Everyone is singing the same song... Rainrain come this way.
I had a 9:20 appointment at the dentist this morning. I got a call at 8:30 asking if I could be there at 9. Yep, I could do that I was dressed and eating breakfast. They were very appreciative when I showed up. I told th girl she would need to pick the toast from my teeth since I had to leave quickly. got them cleaned up and inspected to the tune of $103.00! Does anyone know a good cheap dentist? I'm good to go for another 6 months. Then a stop at the lab for more blood work! I checked out a couple of stores for a new bath rug. Nothing I liked, I'll try WM then it's a 20 mile trip to another store if they don't have something. It has to be a little thinner those nice plush ones won't let the door open. DGD, who is back home from FL, shares my bath. She put color on her hair and some wound up on the bath mat two dark spots that won't come out. Lena has a new rug to sleep on.
Now I'm tired so I need some rest time.
Good afternoon. This morning I had to refill a couple of Marks pills and was so happy to see that Lipitor and Plavix are at a much more reasonable price now. The total for two is under $25 now. I also picked up some ham and fat free hot dogs, for me and some more lettuce and cukes. I waited a bit too long to turn the a/c back on so am beading a bit. hehe The neighbor lady and I chatted a bit after I got home from the store. That and preping all my goodies took all my morning. She gave me some Melatonin to try to see if that will help me sleep. Since I stopped having my usual c oc ktail at night, I've not been sleeping well. I need something to slow me down or relax me so I can get a good nights sleep. I sure do hope it helps. It's all natural so I dont' have to worry about any ill affects. I've read much on it but have never bought any because the c o c ktail works so well. But I need to cut those calories out too. A few minutes ago I called to check on my sewing machine. He has two other machines torn apart so he can't get to mine yet. No one is calling him back as to whether or not they want to pay for what ever has to be done. Not fair to me. There is a craft fair in a town over that my girlfriend told me about last night. I could get some more things made if I had my machine. So not sure I will get to that craft fair since it is this Friday already. I really don't have much to show. There is another one where her daughter lives, on July 20th. But not sure how I'll get anymore done for that one either. I'm trying to get used to my embroidery machine for "sewing" so maybe I can get that one to work for me. I'll keep trying. It's just hard to get the 1/4 inch seams to be right on when the 1/4 inch foot doesn't hold the fabric down tight. If you like 85º, sunshine and no breeze it's nice out. I happen to think it's too warm! Warmer temps on the way from the sounds of the forecast. YUCK. Yes, Lily, I know, you are loving it. hehehe
Grammy, that price for cleaning is a good deal. It costs more then that here.
Good evening is anybody here? I think I hear an echo
Hi All, a quiet day here. The family left for the UP this morning, so it is just Jake and me left at home. He is already lonesome and very clingy. DD wants me to play with him like she does, but he does not play with Grandma. Just sticks close and wants to be petted and given treats.
I got the sewing machine out as soon as they left, as I don't have to be in a hurry to put it away. I have till Sunday to sew when I want to. I did some mending for DD, and I have 4 pr. of curtains to shorten for my other DD. I have to measure and cut them first. She got them on sale but they are 95"long, and she only needs about 38". I don't know what to do with the rest of the material. I could make a table cloth, I guess. I would have to line it as I the material is kind of sheer, but it would be pretty if she got plastic to put over it to protect it. It is kind of a dark sage green sheer. We will see what happens as the project goes forward.
I have to go for a Doppler on my carotids tomorrow, then Thursday morning we have a funeral. It will be a small funeral, 35 to 50 people. We have never done one that small. Less work than usual, I guess. Maybe I can get home and work on the curtains both days. I think we are going to church tomorrow night.
