Good morning Grannies, up early as I am going on a bus trip to Shipshiwana. My friend is picking me up at 6. Hopefully not too hot today. Boy was it hot here yesterday, over 90. Didn't do much. Have a great day, be back tomorrow morning.
Good Morning Ladies - - Sounds like a great day for you, today, Mack. I'm sure you will have lots of fun - how far is it for you?
It's starting to get kind of dark again - must be going to have a shower. Last night the weather man said showers for overnight and into the early morning hours, and by 10:00, it should be a nice day. Hope so, as they are coming to clean my carpet today - - always helps to dry it when its good air. It really needs it, as I put it off - should or could have been done in the fall, but I wanted to wait until "sand" season was over - - that took a long time this year and then they cancelled once too.
Other than that, not a lot going on here. Hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs and prayers.
Good morning Mac and Jane and all to come,
We had a good weekend, the parade for the Indy 500 was really good we had never been to that before, the race was fun with an exiciting finish, very hot, so DH and I both came home a little redder than when we left. Drove as far as LaFayette, IN on Sunday after the race and then drove the rest of the way home yesterday, traffic was better than expected. We got home about 12:30 yesterday and then had to quick freshen up and change clothes and went to a party for DH's aunt who turned 90. It was a good party, saw a lot of DH's family who we don't see very often.
Today it is back to work this morning and then to the grocery store this afternoon, back to normal.
Mac. hope your trip today is good.
Jane, your carpets will look beautiful by days end.
Haven't checked back on posts yet hope all had a good Memorial Day, will be back later
GU
Good morning, grannies.
Nice day starting here and if it's not humid, I won't mind at all. That stuff sure got to me, yesterday.
MAC, great trip. Enjoy every minute of it.
JANE, yes, it looks like the rain is near you and won't get here until much later. Getting the carpets cleaned is a good feeling.
GLEE, boy, that was some race. I did watch the last half of the race, well had it on, I should say. I felt bad for the rookie driver. Good to see you this morning.
Russell was out in the garden already. He has his pole beans and pickles planted. Now, a gentle rain wouldn't be bad. I am hoping to transplant a couple of plants I started from seed.
Have a good day, grannies. BBL
Good morning Grannie Friends. Well my family are home all safe and sound. Girls came right to my room when they came in the house; that's always nice. Today it's back to normal; I'm doing 3 loads of wash so that's not bad. Have to make a trip to Wm later but that's all for today.
Mack: Sounds like a great day planned for you; hope the weather is just right. It will be in the 90's Alll week here. Inside weather for me.
GB: So will you come home from work to look at the nice clean carpet that also smells so good. Sand season is never over here.
Glee: Sounds like a wonderful weekend for you and the family. How was the dear Auntie.
Atv: Lots of humidity here for sure. At church Sun night a man brought a plate of sliced tomatoes straight from his garden; I didn't get any of those(: That's the best way. Lots of Grannies trying to get into the norm so aren't here yet but will see them later I guess.
Gooooooooooooood Morning, Grannies!!
A warm start to the day. Warmer than it has been all spring. The breeze is picking up with rain moving in later.
Mac, Enjoy your trip.
Jane, I borrowed the carpet cleaner from BIL yesterday. Now have to wait for a less humid day to use it. My carpet needs it badly.
GU, It sounds like you had a busy weekend. Glad you got to see family.
Nancy, Jon planted most of his garden yesterday. Only need the corn planted yet. The neighbor will do one pull across with the corn planter in the near future.
Sharonb, It is nice that the girls were so happy to see you. I'm sure you were happy to see them too.
We had a nice cookout with Jon and family. I didn't put everything away so I will start wit that this morning. Still have to sew around the church quilts so may do that later. Or maybe I will head out and buy some flowers. I have to planters that I should get started. Or maybe three. I know when I get there they will have lots of stuff that I would love to have.
Good Morning. Black sky out to the southwest and rain storms are in the forecast until afternoon. Winds are continuing to be as strong and even stronger than yesterday. Some gusts up to 45 mph. Going down to Decorah and then back up to Cresco to the eye appt. Don't have much on my list, but hope to get more flowers and garden stuff. Hope we can avoid the rain drops
Mac, enjoy your trip. Not as warm here today, 82* I think he said.
Jane, better come in through the garage today, so you don't leave wet foorprints on the clean carpet!
Glee, I was looking for you in the Indy crowd, but couldn't pick you out! LOL Glad you enjoyed the trip.
Nancy, yesterday's heat got to me too, made me feel so GOOD!!!!!!!!!!! Love being nice and warm!!!
Sharon, sounds like you are happy to have your family all back home with you.
Good morning lily
Well, that is STRANGE! I posted mine, then refreshed it two times while I was having my coffee and getting dressed. Just came back to refresh and there is Fran's post AHEAD of mine. Sharon's was always next to mine before!!! It wasn't there the other times I refreshed!!
Hi Fran, have fun in the flower market!
Good Morning...
It's already quite warm out there. Want to get some flowers planted today and go and buy some more. And I have some seeds to plant, but I am hearing possibly more heavy rain later today...so I don't want the seed to get washed away. Will I ever get my stuff in the ground???
I enjoyed my coffee on the swing this morning....something I've been waiting to do all year. Now, I just have to get back into the morning treadmill routine....maybe tomorrow
Have a good day everyone.............
SSD time; one load folder; back and knees are hurting this morning; seems they hurt more now after the shot then they did before it. Odd
Gram & Lily: Yup happy to have the family back; I like to know they are home and ok. No pancakes this morning; DP's have to go shopping. Love it when girls come right to see me; feels good.
Lily: It's really weird what this computer does but guess they have a 'mind of their own' that we don't understand. bb
Good morning everyone!
Just dropping by to say......it's too HOT here.
LOL, bbl.
Hello all. It's hot in Missouri, too, although not as bad today as yesterday. We had rain this morning and it is still overcast, but I think the rain is done. We broke down and turned on our AC last night, wanted to make sure it was working and didn't want to be gone if something acted up on it.
We had a windy day yesterday, too. It didn't seem as hot as it was because of the breeze until late afternoon when it got pretty humid--you know what they say--it's not the heat, it's the humidity! We had such crappy weather on Saturday that we didn't get anything done much except I did a lot of cooking for DD#1's birthday supper on Sunday. Sunday, we went to church and then came home, finished up my meal preparations and took turkey breast, brisket, mashed potatoes, green beans, homemade whole wheat rolls, a "fabulous" dessert (that was the name of it--a cracker crust (both saltine and graham) with pudding and milk mixed with melted ice cream and cool whip on top) rice pudding and my mom sent her a homemade angel food cake to DD#1's house. I think she might finally be starting to feel better.
We watched the NASCAR race at DD's house, we were rooting for Dale, Jr., even though we're all Ford fans. What a heartbraking finish!
On Monday, it was finally a day we could get some work done and work we did! DH mowed, weedeated and sprayed weeds all day long. I felt sorry for him as his allergies are really acting up this year and I could hear him sneezing when he was quite a ways from the house and that was over the sound of the lawn mower. His eyes looked just awful when I called him in for lunch so he finally broke down and took an Alavert. He came in at 4:30 and told me he was done for the day, he had such a headache and was just feeling crappy from all the allergy junk so he showered and got ready to go into town, told me we were going out to eat--yippee!
I washed windows all day long and boy was I sore and stiff last night. Think I pulled a muscle in my gluteous maximus! I not only washed the windows, I took out all the screens and washed and hosed all of them down, had DH take the blinds off for me and I put those over the porch railing and hosed them down and for my dry clean only curtains I put those out on the line and the wind "flapped" them clean of any dust for me! The wind was so strong that it actually snapped one of my heavy clotheslines--while it was full of clothes of course! I got hit in the head so hard by flapping rugs (I also washed all my bathroom rugs and toilet seat covers) that I felt like I'd been slapped around all day! Still have one more set of bedroom windows in one DD's room and the garage windows, but was very happy to get the windows, French doors and doors done that I did. I was on my treadmill when DH came in to say that he was done for the day and how about we go out to supper? Sounded good to me and I finished my treadmill and got ready to go!
DH and I came into town early evening to go to the Orscheln Farm & Home store for socks and new clothesline and I went to Target and looked around before we went to eat at Ruby Tuesday (I had a buy one entree, get one free coupon). Then we went to Dairy Queen where he got a shake and I got a mini German chocolate blizzard--yummy!
DH and I put a hanging basket on a shepherd's hook on his dad's grave and we've watered it twice because of the wind. We'll take it off next weekend, that's kind of become our custom to do that and it seems to work out well. We always try to find a basket with some blue or nearly blue flowers because that was his dad's favorite. His dad died of cancer in 1999--on my birthday, in fact.
We'll it's Monday on a Tuesday which always makes things a little more hectic here at work so I had better get back at it. Love to all....
Goodness, I thought I got shut out of the neighborhood there for a while. No one posted and when Debbie finally did, then it wouldn't let me do anything.
It's been a busy day and now almost time to go home, but my desk is clean, I think.
Home to a little sewing while the liver is thawing and then after supper we will do some more planting and call it a day. I'll sit on the porch I think after that, must remember to put on bug spray. I got ate up on Friday while sitting out there + I think a mosquito got into the house and thought it could dine on me too.
I have to get a card and get it sent to DGS. His bd is on Sunday and he will be in Boston living with his mom. And talking about Boston, I was looking into plane tickets and was amazed at the prices. $139 round trip sounds like a deal to me, and it is from the little airport 30 miles from home. I truly don't think I can drive there for that. The one downfall is that you go to DC first and then on to Boston and it is 4 hours as if I left from Harrisburg it would be 1 1/2 hours. But for the price, I think I could handle the stop. Just might be visiting Boston later in the year.
Well it is almost time to leave, I'm not used to leaving early but it sure feels good. I'll go and close down and ttyl.
Good afternoon all. Debbie: Those kinds of days I like although may slow down the wind just a might. I love to see all those things blowing away on the line. I hope you didn't have to rewash anything ; it always has to be the heavy line with big things of course. That' s what Dh and her Dh do when they go out; they share the meal.
Justme: I checked in a couple of times but so no one made a post so went back about my business. I got email to spray Listerine on yourself and that will repel the bugs/skeeters. Good price on the flight; I don't think I could handle a stopover or a change in planes myself. Forget how much my ticket N this time is. Need to check out return trip.
Going to lie down and read a bit now that kids and momma are home.
