Good afternoon to everyone! Nice sunny day out there. Mid morning there was still a nip in the air but now it is just plain nice out there.
I have a chiro appt. after work and sure hope he can get rid of the acheys for me and that I'm not coming down with this flu that everyone in here thinks they have to share. I'm not really in a mind to have it and if I do get it I'll be pretty darn angry. LOL.
Went to DD's last evening and saw the remodeling. They have a few things left to do. Repainting is one. DH will probably have the table done for Easter so that will be great. The railing and banisters are really nice. Cabin style. That is what she is going for. Carpet looks nice. I think they have some trim to do yet and the bar to finish, that might be it. Sure wish I could win some money to help them out.
Supper is in the crockpot. Having roast with mushroom soup over it, and then I'll have mashed potatoes and decided to have brussel sprouts.
I got all the squares pressed today and depending on my mood, I just might work on that tonight. Excited to see what it looks like when done. Might become a Christmas project if I like the outcome.
Well, got to move on. TTYAL.
Oh Lily, I know how you feel sometimes. Tomorrow will be a better day hopefully.
Hello to all. It's warm and breezy again, but looking like rain which is predicted for this evening and tomorrow--heavy rain, in fact. DD#2 and I walked for nearly an hour outside after work last night. No coat, just a short-sleeved t-shirt! I was shocked to hear that Daylight Savings Time starts this weekend, that snuck up on me! Hate losing the hour!
Got to see both grandboys last night when #1 brought Eli up for his shot and asked me to meet them at Hy-Vee. She needed some groceries and wanted to take advantage of their 50% off Kelloggs cereal and bars sale. She had gotten some on Friday when she'd come up for the visitation of the mother of one of her very good friends. Eli discovered the Cracklin' Oat Bran and the Nutrigrain bars on Saturday and both were finished by yesterday morning! My girls always loved the Cracklin' Oat Bran cereal but it is one of the most expensive so only got it occasionally. Now, when these 50% off sales come along they always get some for themselves (and so do i). Jessica now has competition for her favorite cereal in her oldest son!
Eli seems to be in a growth spurt right now and she was lamenting about how it doesn't seem she can get him full. But she said it with a happy face, we're so grateful that he's had a spell of at least a couple of weeks without being on an antibiotic. Our Drew is chubby and happy and getting a dimple in his cheek kind of like Eli, except that Eli has one in both cheeks. The four-month birthday in a couple of weeks can't come fast enough as that is when he can start on cereal/baby food. Jess wants to wait until the 4 month mark as they say that keeps some allergy problems at bay and with all the problems Eli's had in that department, she'd certainly like to avoid that.
Cleo, so glad that your DGD is feeling better. Yes, so much stuff going around. Some schools here have let out for a couple of days and while the students are gone, they are being sanitized. Funny story about your DH, although I'm sure it will be a while before he can laugh about it.
Laurie, I'm like MJ, that sounds like a convenient machine, but someone will no doubt learn how to vandalize it. Sorry you got the run-around at the physician's office. A sinus infection, especially coupled with an ear infection, can really get you down and definitely requires medicine to knock it!
Greenback, I'm like the others, doesn't seem like a small leak in a toilet would cause a significant increase in the water bill.
Speaking of taxes, we got ours done on Saturday and when I checked out the bank balance on line this morning, our state refund had already been deposited! Now, that's fast. Particularly, when it was Saturday afternoon even before we got the taxes done. Now wonder how long before the federal refund will arrive?
Surprise 40th birthday party for DH's siter's husband this weekend. She's asked me to bring baked beans for the 50 people expected. My, how pork and beans have gone up! But then hasn't everything. I got four of the BIG cans and will add ketchup, mustard, worchestershire sauce, onion and brown sugar, maybe some bacon. Everyone thinks I make the best baked beans and that's all I do to them. Do any of you do anything different?
Time to pay some attention to my desk. Sending love to all....
This morning I used the gift certificate that DH gave me at the nail salon. It felt good to have a pedicure and a manicure. My nails are horrible so I have acrylic nails on as a french manicure. Not sure how long I will keep them up, but it's really nice right now! hehe
Lily, after losing my job in June of 2010, I had lots of time to learn or I should say relearn how to sew. So I decided to work on learning how to do some quilting. I've made many table runners, place mats, three king sized quilts and various other items. There is so much to learn and I have so little patience, but lots of time. LOL
MJ, yesterday morning I thought of you when my oatmeal turned out to thick. I like it slurrpy like you do. Buddy liked it though! Funny what triggers a thought. hehe
Kind of sunny and getting quite windy now. The temp is holding at 40 but I know it will drop sometime today. We still have snow on the ground but since the sun is boss these days, it is melting nicely. I wonder how many bushes we will lose due to the lack of moisture last fall and this winter.
Not sure what time DH will be home from work today so I am not planning much for supper. We may just end up going out for a quick burger. Works for me! :)

Lily and Atv, the timer does seem to help the girls. They need to watch it though and see what still needs to be done. Saves my voice Really nice and balmy day here as well.
Mj, oh good, you said pill dispenser and I could not think of that to tell my friend. I wonder about theft too.
Laurie: I hope you are feeling better now.
Cleo: Congratulations to DGD for completing her Awana book; no easy task. It's not half over and she'll start another book. Did you know if they go all the way thru Awana that they can get scholarship. What level is she at; girls are TnT's. Oh Wow, she is a Sparky. I was a Sparky leader until I got this. I'm sure she is having a great time. So happy she's feeling better.
Mamma: Whew, you have some mighty small print there lady. Going out is good. McD's is about 2 miles up the road:)
I have church kids have Awana tonight so will see you all tomorrow. Take care
Oh, it turned into a really nasty, dark, damp and just gloomy day. Just what I DIDN'T need today, with the mood I have been in! I've been sleeping part of the day and reading in between naps. Too dark to do anything else. The early and warm 56* has now dropped down to 37*.
We are having the Lenten service at our church tonight, instead of in town, preceded with a soup supper. I had planned to go, but don't think I will now. My driver's wiper blade is very bad. Didn't know that until I was out when it was raining! DH had an extra and tried to change it earlier, but another thing he can't remember. He fumbled around out there for some time and came in and threw his coat down and said "call somebody else to do it!" Maybe I will have to see if I can figure it out. I know he used to change it in a couple of minutes, so can't be to difficult?
Thank you Jomonda. I know tomorrow will be better. It always is.
Debbie, I gave my kids thin rice cereal when only a couple of weeks old, 4 months seems old to wait, IMO. That's what I always did to doctor up pork and beans. Maybe not the W. sauce, it's been so long I can't remember!
Mamma, I guess I didn't know you weren't working anymore. It's been so long since you've been in the GN. I know you did the GN quilt squares, but you have certainly been busy, especially with queen sized quilts. Do you tie them or send them to be quilted? I still make quilt tops, but that is it for me.
Is this better Sharon? It looks pretty big on my computer! hehe
Lily, God had his reason for me losing my job. That summer DH had a heart attack and I was needed here at home. Many times it has been a blessing that I am home. As for the quilts, the grannie quilt is what got me started. I hand tie the quilts. The pattern I used I got from Wanda who got it from Fran. A purple king size one for our bed and a red and black King size for DS's bed. Which I will give him for his birthday. This site does NOT work well for me either, so I never know when or if I will get back on. As you know it as always been a problem for me. A while back I even pulled all my recipes out of the recipe box and store them on another site. The gloomy day is depressing here too, I just have to stay busy and not look out the window. hehehe I'm glad that you still are doing those quilt tops. It does keep a mind busy and off other things, doesn't it?
Good afternoon grannies,
It has been a crazy beginning to my week here, flu held on to both DH and I for a couple of days but we are better. I spent the rest of my time working and painting my family room, turned out pretty well, my house is a mess because all the furniture is moved as tomorrow I am having the carpet in a couple of rooms cleaned also hall and the couch in the family room, but maybe this will be my start on spring cleaning. I want to have all the carpeting cleaned but can only do a couple of rooms at a time because I have nowhere to put the furniture. One of the reasons I wanted it done this week is because DD is on vacation so Jamie will not be here tomorrow. I will not be able to stop in GN and chat for a couple of days because one of the rooms being done is this one and tonight we will be movingthe computer desk and unplugging everything. Hopefully I will be back either tomorrow night or Fri.
Lily, Here is a big hug from me too {{{{{ }}}}}}. Like MJ said, our kids don't always do what we would like, sometimes aren't very thoughtful but sometimes they surprise us too so I am praying yours will come around.
Cleo, hope DD keeps her job and DGD stays on the mend and of course that DH finds some new tools.
Prayers and Hugs to all

Good Evening - - Just having a cup of culiflower & brocolli soup that I made with what I had left of those. Taste's good - a good soup night again, as it was so dark, dreary and rainey this afternoon. I was just back downtown to the drug store - forgot to stop on my way home this noon, and pickup a script. This should just about cover my deductable for the year - $246.99. If I knew I had to pay that everytime, I'd have to ask them to write it for a month at a time, but it should be less next time.
Don't know much more about the water problem that I did before. My plumber said yes, you have a leak, but it's not the kind of leak that would do that to your bill - he said this is a cheap fix, he ordered some new gaskets and said it should be less than $10.00 - the service call I'm sure will be at least $50.00 though -- Then called the city water dept. They came and have no explanitation either. He told me to call tomorrow when the dept. head will be back from school and talk to him, to see if he had any other ideas, and to tell him everything I told him, and show him my water bills - - I showed him all of them for the last year - - They went from using 3500-6000 gal. to this time 16500. THe only difference we could find was that yesterday when Culligan was there, he said the meter was running, and today it was not.
IT was so good to see Mama here today - - Sure do miss you, CIndy.
I know there was more I was going to comment on, but now can't remember it all -- Gotta get moving anyway. Take care and have a good night.
Another busy day. Bible sturdy, lunch and a little shopping. I finished my cushion redo project and spent some time cleaning the room up. The pillows look nice on the sofa. I might redo the ones down here. It was a nice sunny 67* today but a lot of wind. I could hardly get the door of my car open to get out! One of the ladies locked her keys in the car when we went to lunch. Nice policeman came to open it up for her.
So good to see mamma here today hope you stop in often. I miss everyone.
It's almost 9 I think I'll just mosey down the hall and find my bed and my book. This mature granny gets tired.
Love and hugs
Grammy
Please add prayers for my grandma to the grannie prayer list, thanks, Laurie
Good evening sorry to be so late I got involved in a murder mystery on TV and wanted to see how it ended.
Cindy glad to seeyou here . I never put any recipes in a folder on here if it is one I wanted I just printed it out. I have big stack of them and use them often. I have no computer abilities and don't know how to do that .
Laurie sorry to see that your Granny is in need of prayers again .
Ok I have a little catching up to do so will post and hope someone is still here tonight .
Hi, MJ. I see I missed Grammy and Laurie. Was caught up in a project and lost track of time.
Laurie, prayers for you DGM.
Hi Nancy what kindof weather are you sending me for tomorrow ? We have had warm temps and hight window rattleing winds all day long. We are supposede to start getting rain later tonight .
I did see my first Robin today and looked out the window and saw a convertible go by withthe top down LOL. The guy must have had spring fever.
I spent most of the day doing research on Crosses. I am getting a lot of info now just need to put it in some sort of order that makes sense.
