Good Morning is any one here yet?

Well I checked nobody is here but me. Coffee is being sipped already and DD's lunch is packed. Not much planned for today . I will be going to an estate auction but it is going to be a mighty cold event. It was only 32 when I checked earlier now we are having a heat wave it is up to 33! I better get out my shorts LOL .

Balanced my checkbook this morning as I added in the amount the cash fairy deposited in my account overnight . I wish she made more frequent stops LOL . I still feel like I have no money when it is in the bank. I liked doing my own banking this direct deposit thing is not to my liking. Maybe in time I will adjust to it. It was always my theory that if I did not hold out enough cash to get me to my next payday then I was a poor money manager. Once money is in the bank it should stay there with bill paying being the exception. I always feel when I go to get some cash I need to explain to the teller why I need it . Now isn't that just silly LOL . Everyone has hang ups. I don't like to write checks at gas stations anymore as they give it back to me so I like to carry cash I don't have to mess with carrying around checks that are already cashed. I still think this whole electronic system will collapse some day and we will all be in a world of hurt. Ok that is my early morning lament LOL so off to see what damage I can do before I leave around noon.

DD has shut her door so there are two little doggy boys sitting outside her door waiting for it to open. Now they probably would not want in if the door were open LOL. One gave up and came to sit by me. would be lost without these guys.

Morning MJ and all the Grannies to come.  I'm helping DH read meters this week.  My DB or the DGS's have been helping him, but DB got a part-time job (to help pay insurance for his wife - she's not 65 yet), so it's me this time.  I always enjoy seeing 'off the road' things you wouldn't normally see.  Can't go to the NH today.

Funny, MJ,  you have the same bank and money 'hang ups' that I do.  DH is the opposite.  Money is just 'paper' to him since he worked at the bank and handled so much of it.  They used to put money in a manila envelope, he'd walk it down to the post office, and they would mail it to the Federal Reserve in N. O.  Haven't times changed?

    Hope Suzi is doing better.

Need to see what's for breakfast.  We're starting at daylight.

Good morning MJ and other grannies to come.   I overslept a bit this a.m., so I will just say hi and head out.  Talk to you all later.  Good luck on getting the mower MJ.

    Good Morning...

My first day back to school from spring break.  Today is our Easter party...so it will be a hectic day.  And this afternoon I help with the enrichment class.  Tonight the Redwings start their playoff series and AI is on...LOL  My day is all taken up now.

MJ...I had a hard time adjusting to direct deposit, too.  But after DH's boss failed to give him his paycheck several times, on time (he was the only one that didn't do DD), I decided it was time to do the direct deposit.

Cleo....hope you have a great day.

Lauriet...nice to hear #2 is doing well.

Well, better finish getting ready for school.  Need to get there a little early to get things together for our projects.

    Have a good day everyone...............

Good Morning Ladies - - Nice to have a little light - - guess I'm moving slower these morning too.  Two days of getting home at seven and still having to make something to eat -- Yesterday, as soon as I got off, and I left a bit early, as I had extra time from Mon., I went to Decorah, and signed the tax papers.  It's so good to know that's all done - - and  - - - the best part, I was even a happy gal!  A refund on both state and fed.  I've had to do quartlies on state the last couple of years --  Must have been all of my extra dental bills and milage going back and forth - - otherwise, not much else changed.  I made my returns to CJ Banks, and she seemed surprised when she asked it it was the fit, and I said I never even tried them on - - just didn't like the quiality.  I looked around the store a bit, didn't realize they had the largers sizes in the store there, but didn't see anything I liked well enough to bother trying on,  Of course, by that time, I was tired of standing.  Then I went to the kids and visited with her until he got home from work and both then until he left for bowling and I to come home.  Her DM was there too - I think that must be a regular occurance.   Good to see them.

Why is it, since I only wanted to watch 2 things last night, that they both had to be on at the same time?  And now, they are both down to an hour.  I did try to switch back and forth, but seems like the commericials are mostly at the same time too - - I did see who left on DWTS and see seemed really up set about going.  Not mad, I don't think, just sad.  How was Melissa? I didn't hear on that.

Had the 401k meeting yesterday, and had a quiz before we started on retirement and goals and investments.  I won an Afarican violet - - could have had that or a bag of candy, so thought this was better.  Now, I wonder how long I'll be able to keep it alive - - It made me think of Mom -- she had so many when she died - - We were divided into 2 groups for the meeting, so we still had coverage for the coustomer, and I had the best score of our group.   Of course, I've probably done more reading on retirement than most - - And I probably missed the easiest question.  It was if you had a married couple of 50 years old, at least one of them could expect to live until what age?  I said 90, but it was 85.

I can also relate to both your thinking, MJ, and also, Cleo, your DH's.  Many of the coustomers come in and tell us all kinds of things - - I've often said we've heard more than we ever needed to know from lots of them.  Others of course, are very secretive, but I think we would be the social contact for many.  Maybe this is what scares me a little about retirement, I don't want to get to the point where going to the bank is the highlight of my day - - or the grocery store -- -    On the other hand, I can easily relate to the story about money just being a piece of paper .  Many times I've said the very same thing --

Gotta get more coffee and something to eat - - morning is rolling and I'm not!   Hugs and prayers - especially for Fran and Suzie this morning and for all  --

Good morning Grannies: Its nice and cool out this morning but am sure it'll warm up some. Had an awful night; went to bed at 9:45 and woke at 1a; I felt feverish again and had the chills but I never was able to go to sleep. I heard Dd and Dh go to work at 5a and then fell asleep but alarm went off at 6:10. Am suppose to go to dentist but don't think I would be a good idea but they aren't answering phones yet. Not sure what I'll do (after sleeping) but probably a load of wash and am to cook up some chicken for chicken and rice dinner tonight. I was hoping to hear more on Suzi.......will check back

Good morning grannies. I thought I'd join the early birds this morning. Black silk in the cup and a beautiful sunrise over my shoulder. A chilly 30* and another freeze warning for tonight then warming again.

Justme thanks again for the update on Suzi. Good to know she is showing some improvement.

MJ sorry I missed you last night. Yep, I couldn't keep a good lookin' guy waiting any longerSurprise Seems the few grannies who like to chat have trouble connecting in the evenings. Hope you find a real treasure at the auction today. I like a little cash on hand too. One check is direct deposit and dh's small pension check comes to me. I cash that one for my pocket money.

Laurie how nice for you to have one of the boys home for an evening. Cherish the moments. The older they get the busier they are.Big Smile

Cleo a nice break in your routine to be out with dh this week. Hope it's nice weather so you can enjoy the work and off the road scenery.

Chef got a call from the local radio station, they would like to talk to him about a weekly programBig Smile He will be talking with them soon to find out more details.

CJ the kids will still be hopping around from all the Easter candy! It will be a lively party. Tim Horton's opening here soon. I'll have to ck it out. Not sure I've ever been to one.

Greenback you have so many friends and interests that I don't think you would ever lack social contacts! There would always be something for you to do.

OOPS! I didn't mean to post yet! Nice to be able to use the edit thing.

Sharon sorry it was a bad night for you. Maybe you should just take it easy today.

Not much happening here today. We will rest up a bit for the cooking marathon that starts tomorrow!

Lily sorry that so many of us misread your post.Sure sounded like you meant it was the child you couldn't accept.

    I'll move on now..........

    Good morning grannies,

Getting ready to head out to work, my last day for this week.  Will be babysitting for Nicholas tonight and then Jamie tomorrow, where does my time go?

Well, for those who wanted to know (not Grammy) my toes are now all ready to model for a flip/flop commercial.  They are are bright Easter grass green, the pretty pastel green not the dark and my big toes have a flower design on them with a jewel in the center.  Of course today they are covered up with socks because it is still pretty cool outside.  I am a bit ticklish when she does my feet but love the massage part.

Glad that Donald was saved on DWTS, most of the stars are good dancers so now it comes down to their fan base and voting.

Nothing else new here, prayers and hugs

    Good morning Grannies,

This is my day to stay home, so thought I would post.

Hope everyone had a nice Easter. I  ate Easter Dinner with my oldest Son and his family and had a nice dinner and a nice time. Went to see Denny. The Hospice nurse called me yesterday and said he was getting weaker, but I can see that myself. Sometimes he cannot talk to me on the phone as out of breath so much and cannot sit up very long anymore. I am doing okay, but get depressed about it all at times.

It is raining here today, hope it stops as I need my lawn mowed pretty bad, but need the rain.

I hope everyone has a good day. I am going to get some things caught up here at home today.

Good Morning. Freeze warning is on again for this morning, but my weather report sa ys a warming trend later today. And should be near 60* by mid afternoon. That sounds good. No frost here, however, that I can see.

I've been awake since 5:30. As soon as it gets bright in my room I wake up now. The brightness comes in my window right to my head! I should move my furniture for the summer, then it wouldn't shine on me.  It was after midnight before I got to sleep, so it will be a nap later for sure.

Going to try another trip to Decorah today. But I will be SURE to see my wallet is in my purse this time. Can't believe I didn't realize how light my purse felt yesterday!

I love the direct deposit, the ATM and the electrocic transter (EFT) of my bills. Makes life so much easier. I haven't been in our bank in ages.  I seldom write checks anymore, as I can't write decently enough, so the ATM and EFT are a great help.

I've been watching the Eagles. The little ones are certainly growing and keep Mom/Dad busy. Sometimes it looks like the little ones are getting scolded! LOL

DH just brought  me a cup of coffee and I didn't even know he was up yet. Sure moves quietly!

Shrl so glad you stopped in this morning. Sorry that Dh is getting weaker. Wish there was something I could say that would help you thru this time. I'm so glad you have some family near by that you can be with. Don't know how I would have made it without God and my two girls. Spend some of your day at home doing something for yourself. Love, hugs. and prayers for you today and in the days ahead.

    Good morning.

It is a cold 21º and sunny this morning. I have a load of clothes to wash but will wait a bit in hopes of it warming up a bit more. Can't freeze my fingers hanging the clothes on the lines. hehe

DH says he is feeling better and going back to work. Some how I don't really believe him though. He still felt rotten last night and slept almost the whole day and went to bed early as well.

Yesterday I worked on quilting the couch quilt and now have a muscle ache from my neck down to my right shoulder blade. Not sure I will be sewing today or not. I so wanted to finish it today though.

Time for breakfast. Anyone want some french toast and bacon?

Hi Shrl. Didn't see you come in. Good to see you here. Sorry I haven't been in touch for a while. Just haven't been in the mood to chat much. Sorry to hear Denny is so weak. It is so very difficult to watch. Big hugs to you.

    Good morning, grannies.

    Below freezing by me. Brrrrrrrrrr!

MJ, bundle up for the auction. I heard MI was seeing some snow, yesterday. I pay for most everything with my credit card and then pay that bill with e-banking.

CLEO, I'd say have fun reading meters, but I don't know if it is really fun. Nice to be doing something with DH, tho'. For sure, you'll be missed at the NH.

LAURIE, a quick hi and bye from you. Have a good day.

CJAY, have a good party with the little ones. Are you into spring projects?

JANE, you got a lot of things done last night. And, the visit was good, too. We are too busy and we have lots of friends, that we won't need the bank teller to be a ear to what we have to say. But, I feel many at the Sr. Center do things like that. I am happy to see them at the center.

SHARON B, a nap may be needed if you had a poor sleeping night. Hope you're not coming down with a cold or ?.

GRAMMY, your family sure are go-getters and innovators. Good for Chef if he gets the radio spot. Rest up for the cooking session, now.

GLEE, are you freezing your tutu this morning, too? I am back to a warmer jacket. I was surprised by the one voted off of DWTS, last night.

    SHRL, good to see you. {{{{SHRL}}}}

GRAMMY, I've seen her decorated toes before and they are "purty".

LILY, just saying Hi to you for now. I am leaving for the salon----getting a perm in a half hour from now. Talk to you later.
