Ooooo, Wanda, you make my mouth water, sour kraut and mashes potatoes, yummmmmmmmmm. Gosh people can be so rude as to make you work at work. Wink

Sharon, I'm still washing, can't over fill the machine. I even got the furniture moved around. What started out as vacuuming under my recliner turned into a whole room turn around. DH is going to give me scolding when he gets home. Tongue Tied But I'm having a less pain day so then I kind of forget and over do it. hehe

SharonF, you made me hungry for pizza now. hehe Guess my mind is always on food. Isn't it just amazing how confident some of the youngsters are. Glad to hear it turned out so well. Enjoy the taco and cake today too. Happy Birthday Lexi. Prayers for the kids and their house plans.

Time for another load to go on the lines and one more in the washer. TTFN

Well, frm nothing to do, I decided to make some coffeecakes. I took one out of the freezer and only two left, along with 4 loaves of Orange Apple bread. I made one with Lemon filling, one with Bavarian cream filling and the Coffee coffeecake. As soon as that comes out of the oven we'll go down to Cresco, as I need to replenish my egg supply. Just used my last dozen in the baking! Also need to get the prescription for my eye drops. And think I'll get a container of Roundup, as I have lots of weeds that need killing! Won't be able to do it today, as it is very windy again. My rhubarb is no good this year. It was near my lilac bush, but now that has put out so many shoots that it is buried the rhubarb.  I would like to get some to freeze and to bake pies/coffeecakes.

SharonB, I don't think they used headstones when folks died on wagon trains moving West. Just dug a hole and a small wooden cross that  didn't last long. This was a modern stone with the man dying in 1951. But no trace of the family so far. Maybe someone just stole it via vandalism.

We don't have the TV on much at any time, except for news broadcasts. We do watch Road Show (when we remember!) and now baseball on Fox on Sat., but that is a team from either league. Can't get the Twins games, no cable!

Can smell the last coffeecake, so t ime to c hange my clothes and head to Cresco. May make more coffeecakes when I get home, if I have any more energy.

Oh, I looked up several series of Cozy mysteries to order, but my computer was running very slow earlier, so will hold off ordering for now. They wouldn't be here before next week anyway. So I may be doing more baking to ward off boredom for a few days. UNLESS it warms up and the wind stops blowing! HA!!!

    Goooood Morni ng, Grannies!!

A very breezy, cold day.  The sun is shining so it looks nice out.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes on here, Facebook and snail mail. Sure does brighten my day.

i sure slept good last night. didn't feel the greatest when I came home from quilting. I took a nap then. I went to bed at 9:00 and slept the whole night through. I feel fine this morning.

Lily, That is interesting about the gravestone. A couple years ago some one was digging a hole for a building and found an old gravestone. They live a couple of lots from a cemetery  so thought it had come from there. When people checked there was a stone there with the same name and dates on it. Never did figure out why there were two stones. It was a topic of conversation for a while.

It took me a long time to get this typed as my BF from HS called and had a long visit with her, Just got started here and DSisIL called so that was more time on the phone,

Not doing anything special today besides talking on the phone. When my boys asked what I wanted I suggested cleaning flower beds and washing windows and putting the screens in. Hopefully that will happen this weekend.DS#2 has his birthday on Saturday so I"m not sure if he has something else planned. Maybe he has to work. Not sure if he getsd his BD off where he works.

Time to get some dinner started. Chicken breast are on the menu so have to find something to go with it.

Lily, Mark picked up eggs from the farmer today so I was very happy. I was down to just one dozen too. Can't have that anymore then I can be low on milk. LOL Which reminds me I will need to get some more tomorrow.

I went to Econo foods for a watermelon but had to take it back to the store. It was hardly even pink on the inside and the taste was not good either.   I just got my money back. They didn't have much to choose from, they never have much of anything to choose from. And I didn't want to be running back and forth. I'll wait now until Cashwise gets some in and has them on sale. They have very good produce, Econo, not so good. Econo had hamburger on sale again and also their brand of half caf coffee. I shouldn't have to buy either all summer now. hehe

The stuff on the lines are drying slowly. It will be late in the day before the bed gets remade. At least I won't have any ironing to do today.

Fran, getting help with some chores is a great gift to recieve. I hope they show and help out. I hope you are enjoying your day.

    Hi, grannies.

Sun is still shining, but it's only in the 50's by me.

IC, hope things will get better for selling the house.

MAMMA, too early for some of the melons. And, the ones here are high priced, too. I had an icky cantaloupe.

FRAN, that's the kind of present to get for your b-day. My kids usually call in the evening, but lots of talking then, too.

LILY,  you'll have to pick up a couple of books at the Thrift Store to have on hand for emergencies. I did some squirting with Round Up, too. And, our neighbor took lots of our ferns to his place on the Mississippi.

WANDA, hope you found some shoes.

Russell wants to go out to eat, so off we go.

Just put a very big chicken breast on to cook. They put such big ones in the bags, that we get two meals out of one breast! I don't know what I will do with it, cut it up and make a pot pie or maybe mix it in with some Stove Top and make mashed potatoes to go with?

I went down to Cresco at noon and got 5 dozen eggs. They were 99 cents this week. Picked up my eye drop prescr. and got a big container of Roundup. Then back home, fixed lunch and mixed up two more coffeecakes. Filled one with Apricot and the other with Strawberry. Now all five are in the freezer. Tidied up the kitchen and laid down and slept from 2:30 until just a few minutes ago. Getting up for a couple of hours in the middle of the night  calls for an afternoon nap. Of course, if I sleep all night through, I still take a two hour nap! LOL My second childhood, you know. But then I have always been able to take afternoon naps with no trouble! I like to sleep!  LOL

Fran, good luck on your boys coming over to help. I know they are better at that than mine are anymore!

Mamma, I could get eggs for 99cents from all the Amish, but none are in the direction we usually go. I can't see any difference in them anyway.  Your bedding would have dried fast out here, the wind has been strong all day. And only got to 55*, altho' the sun has been shining all day. The wind made it feel more chilly. DH did do some cleaning up by the barn and mowed a small section. But need some wood that is piled up there moved. Maybe someday? Now he is worn out.

I don't know if many chat at night, it sure seems quiet during the day anymore. I will be ordering some books tonight and as slow as this has been today, it may take me 3 hours! Grrr I'm just about ready to take this in, even if it costs $200! Well, maybe not! LOL

Evening all.  Lily: Silly me, I didn't even think of that and I know that's how they did it. That is why I thought there could be many places where folks were buried that we've built right over. If someone stole the headstone and they catch them, its a hard fine or jail time.   I could smell the scent of your cooking today. Dd told me to make a cake tomorrow and 'we' will celebrate her Dsister's birthday:)hhehehhe

Gram: Now that is a different kind of birthday gift but sometimes thats what it takes. Hope your ears heal and you have a good day.

Atv: What does your neighbor do with the stuff on the Mississippi. I was watching Swamp People today with Kayla; she likes that show and it had hunters on the    "    "    catching gators.

Well its been a nice day.  I will see you all tomorrow Lord willing....

Just getting ready to leave to pick up my riders and go to dinner.  It's about 7 miles out to our favorite place.

Fran, that's the kind of gifts I like too - - don't always get  it though, as he thinks that's not much of a gift.  SOmeday, he will realize that it means more than any of the trinkets - -

Slept a good portion of the afternoon away - - wanted to rest my legs this afternoon, and was tired after last night, so right now, I feel rather \refreshed.  I'm sure I will have to watch AI when I get home.  WOn't take that long when I can fastforward - -

    Gotta run  - take care.

Hi Grannies, how are all of you?  We are fine here tonight.   I got home to find that the clothesline I had filled this a.m. had tipped over.  Argh.  It was all still clean, just put it thru the dryer to fluff it up.  It still smells like outside so it is fine.  It was another busy day at work today.  We had a visit from a choir that is going on tour to Chicago, they were very good.  Hubby seems to be recoving from his cold a bit more each day.   Supper was a left over extravaganza!   Does that make them sound more interesting?  They really weren't, but at least the fridge is emptying out of containers.  The dishwasher is running in return.  Happy birthday from me too!

Gee, Laurie, what a punch in the nose to see the clothesline on the ground. Glad all was OK and not rewash was needed. Loved your meal description. I may have to use that.

MJ, I liked the ripe olives in the salad, too.

I just had to use the lifesaver twice to get this posted.

Well my fridge is getting full so the decision has been made by the powers that be, oh yes that would be me that my clebration salad Will spend the night on the porch. It is 38 degrees outside so it should be fine. I just won't tell any of the fuss budget ladies at church that I booted the salad out for the night LOL . I am sure that a few of them would have a fit about that . LOL What they don't know won't hurt them now will it. My porch is enclosed so not critters can get in and it is all covered. Speaking of natural refrigeration did you know that gelatin used to be a winter food as that was the only time that they housewife could get it cold enough to set. Of course that meant it was either outside or in the wood shed. LOL . Necessity is the mother of invention LOL .

MJ, when the temp is below 40 degrees in our garage, I use that for keeping things cold, too. I have some soda out there now and it's as cold as being in the fridge. You have made some good salads for the Salad Lunch at your church.
