Good morning everyone. If Viny ever retires our whole routine will change, LOL

Just a cloudy day here with a high of 24, not so bad. Maybe some snow tonight or tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed there will not be any snow Sunday.

JoAnn, is DH pleased about the new job?

Pat, how nice that you are remembering what would have been your mom’s birthday with you siblings and your mom’s favorite foods. My mom’s birthday would have been today.

It was so hard to get up today. I hit snooze many times but slept about 40 minutes past my usual time. I was having such a good dream I didn’t want it to end. Well, off to work soon. Have a good day everyone, Sue

Good morning Sue and everyone to join us today,

Just a short note from me today.  Hope I'm not coming down with what DH had, not feeling too well this morning.

Sue, we'll be hoping for good weather for your shower on Sunday.  For DH, it isn't a new job, he's been Acting Deputy Chief for several months, this just takes away the "Acting" and makes his new title official.

Pat, what a nice way for you and your sister to get together to rememver your Mom's birthday.    I can imagine you getting out all of the old pictures and enjoying all of your favorite memories of her.

We have a funeral service to go to tonight for my cousin's adopted son.  It's about an hour away, so I hope the snow will continue to hold off for a while.

Have a nice day and stay warm.  I think it's pretty cold everywhere.  God bless. Jo Ann

Good morning Sue, Jo Ann and everyone today!

I have a Kenny story to share!  This happened this morning already.....

You know the scene...in A Christmas Story where Flick's tongue (after being triple dog dared) gets stuck to the frozen pole in winter.  (sigh)  Well, this morning, my own 8 year old was standing at our bus stop alone and playing in the snow (I do normally look outside constantly to keep an eye on him)  and I heard this blood curdling scream.  Yup!  Our bus stop that is made of metal got him wondering what would happen if he were to put his tongue on it.  Now mind you, he's never watched A Christmas Story nor heard the stories on the news about kids that get stuck from doing it.  I honestly didn't want him getting the idea of doing it and seeing if it'd happen to him.  Now, he knows what would happen!  Thankfully, a neighbor was out shoveling and saw it happen and grabbed a pitcher of warm water to help get him unstuck which worked great.  Only a little bit of his taste buds came off but the ER doc told him they'd grow back.  And now as I sit here talking to my older daughter, I find out that both her and her younger sister did it also last year!  (they used spit to become unstuck)  Needless to say, NONE of them will be doing that again!

There are popsicles now in the freezer waiting for him after school since for some odd reason he doesn't want to suck on ice cubes.... ;)

    Have a wonderful weekend!!

Good Morning!   We had about an inch or 2 of snow last night but it’s all done now.   Just a light storm this time and more will be here on Sunday.   The best thing is we are getting up into the mid 30’s.   Kinda makes me laugh to wish for that.

    Hi, Sue and Jo Ann…

Sue, by the time Friday rolls around, I’m sure you are ready to sleep in.

You’re a good sub for our Viny.   Even if he retires, he may start for us, who knows.   But he’s probably like my DH – retirement seems to be a foreign word.

Good luck with the shower, you’ve worked so hard planning this.

Jo Ann, OMG, let’s hope you don’t get what DH had.   Have a feeling you won’t get rid of it so quickly.

So now the job title is official – I bet he’s happy.   Do you think he is planning to retire any time soon or are his work days endless too?

Better get breakfast going and enjoy Friday.

Good Morning Sue & JoAnn and all who venture here later.  I miss Barb and hope she gets her computer up soon and was thinking how much fun JoLynn is having with her DD & family,  I wish they were closer so she could enjoy the grandchildren

Sue, you are so right about our entire post will change when Viny retires.. We'll have to talk to him about this on the cruise. Smile  He can't forget to get up and get a beautiful picture here each morning, doesn't he know that makes out day.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the snow is gone until after the shower Sunday and  hoping you have a great turn out for the shower.  I know you have put lots of work in this and I know it will be a great shower.

JoAnn, congratulations to Frank.  I'm glad it's official now and he has the title and hopefully the salary to go along with his new position.   I hope you aren't taking what Frank had earlier in the week, it takes you so long to get over these things.  There is a flu like virus running rampant in our area.  We are going to see Ray Price tonight and I have had 5 who will lose their $40 tickets because they have whatever is going around and all of them have had the flu shots.  I'm just hoping no one gets on the bus this afternoon with it.  We will leave the church at 4 and won't be back until 11-12 PM.  I know the interstates are clear, but not many back streets are clear and my friend will pick me up so I won't have to get the car out, but I may have given up my ticket if I had to drive, the mess thaws in the day and re freezes at night.

Pat, good to see you checking in,  you have been busy this winter, getting everything cleaned up and throwig away.  I still have lots of that to do.   I've given up on the shoveling, found some muscles that I thought had disappeared so I know I'm out of shape, so this may encourage me to get back to a daily exercise.   Wish you and Dale were going with us on the cruise.

    Be back later....

    Dear Santa,

All I ask for in 2011 is a big fat bank account and a slim body. Please don't mix these two up like you did last year.

Good for you,Viny. That is actually monumental that you slept until 8.30! Jo Ann, I hope you can chase away whatever bug is trying to get you. And many congratulations to your DH! When Friday evening rolls around I am really tired. Our neighbors just came around for a visit, and I could hardly participate because I am so groggy. So I will get my head on my pillow soon and come back tomorrow for a chat! lusi

    Good evening friends,

Sorry I am late again today. I’m having some stomach problems and just feel yucky.

Yesterday Janet and I had such a great time shopping. I spent nearly $300 and after sale prices, 30% off and a gift receipt it came to a little over $100.

I bought a couple things for the cruise but also found a sweet quilted jacket for warmer weather and a couple tops. I bought three pair of slacks still the same size but completely different style. I also found a nice black cardigan. Of course I bought some new sneaker socks and some unmentionables. LOL

I was looking for an off white top to wear under my one of my jackets. I found one but when I tried it on at home it shows every little/big love handle I still have.  LOL

Sue, I will be praying for good weather this weekend.

I know the shower is going to be such fun.

I better get off here and feed my babies.

Oh, I did try on some of the clothes I will be packing for the cruise.

I just have such a hard time knowing how much to pack.

Jo Ann I hope you get over the sickness fast.

I loved hearing the Kenny story and remember doing that once as a kid.

Have a great evening everyone.     Shirley

    Hello again everyone.

Shirley...remember to pack your migraine meds and your reflux meds.  And get over that tummy stuff....don't want you to be sick.  Have you talked to Bettie lately?

Good news...the parts for my cartopper are in.  Due to many other committments, it will be Thursday before Ican get it there to be worked on.  Actually, I'll take the car to my car dealership Wednesday afternoon after I've done my chores and errands then they will take it over to Garland for the work.  I do not have a day to spend waiting around for things to be done when the problem was not my fault.  And that's the truth!  LOL!

Finally warmed up to 45º but is headed down already.  Felt so much better as there was less wnd.

I slept good last night too Viny...think it's because I kenw the topper parts were on the way.  Wish you were here to help Roy get it fixed....he's good but could always use another good hand.

Barb can read...but can't post.  She and Erik are working to fix the problem.  All is well there.

Need to get busy again...I'm the queen of the shredders today!

I'm glad Barb is working with Erik.   I had written her an email and we chatted back and forth with PM's.   Isn't that funny how she can post the personal msg but not to the threads on here?   Strange!   I told her to talk to you, Verna, and see what could be done between her and Erik.

Verna, so glad your topper parts are in.   That has to be a relief.

Shirley, you did very well at Kohl's.   You know, that blouse that is a little tight, wouldn't matter if you keep the jacket on.   I have 1 like that, couldn't resist the beautiful lacework above the bust line.

I was so mad today.   I got my new WW cookbook and saw so many recipes I want to try.   The rice pudding seemed to be calling my name and I had everything, milk, Arborio rice, eggs, sugar and vanilla.   It seemed like a strange way to make it, but it's their recipe and they know.   Right?  Wrong!   1 1/3 cup rice to 1 cup milk plus 2 TB water and 1/4 cup sugar on top of the stove.   Heat to boiling without the rice, then simmer with it for 30 minutes, stirring a couple of times.   If you've made risotto, you know how quickly the rice soaks up the liquid.   After only 10 minutes I was making risotto - I had boiling water alongside and was shoveling it in to keep it from becoming a mass of starch.   Was so glad to see the 30 minute mark come.   Then you mix together 1 more cup milk, the 2 eggs and vanilla and throw that in with the rice mixture.   This is in a greased bowl which goes into a 325 degree oven for 25 minutes.   It was absolutely awful!!!  It literally looked like a big bowl of starch.   Didn't smell bad, but I tried a couple of bites and actually felt like I was getting indigestion.   It was nothing like what I was craving.   How could they screw up the ingredients that badly?   I wrote WW an email and we'll see what they say.   Oh, and the other thing was no mention of a water bath.

Now I'm not as anxious to try another recipe.   When I do it will not be a sweet type dish, maybe more of a meat dish.

After that, we went out to dinner tonight.   I'll tackle cooking tomorrow.

     Going to relax.....see you tomorrow.
