Good Morning Viny, I'd love to take a walk on the path this morning, a beautiful picture.  I'm sure if you had not had the rain you would be outside working.  I was reading in our paper this morning that we could think about planting by the last week in March, could have frost until about April 15, but all the garden shops have lots of tomato plants and people are buying, I may do that next week and just put them outside to harden each day for a couple weeks.

I've failed to post my journal this week, but still trying to stick to it, I'll try to get back to regular posting it next week.  Too many lunches out this week and when I do that, I rarely eat a meal later in the day.  I'm going with 50 from church today to a nearby college to the Senior Follies, it's a group of retired men/women, who dance and sing and wonderful entertainment and then we come back by a place that has nothing but seafood to eat before we get home. Should be a good day.
All of you have emails about Sonny/Carolyn
Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow.

Happy St. Patrick's DayGood morning Viny, Marti and all to come by this weekend,

I agree with Marti.  Love the picture this morning. The beautiful and inviting,  tree lined walkway, just makes you want to be out there taking a morning walk.

Viny, thank you so much for the weather banner.  It will be fun to see each other's weather at a glance.  I know, I always enjoyed being able to see yours. I just couldn't get it, trying to follow the directios, so thanks for making it so easy.

Oh, yes, being the chocolage lover you are,  I think you really would have loved the chocolate store.  I'm sure I gain a pound or two, just walking in the door and looking at all those chocolates, not to mention  how wonderful it smells.   lol

We woke up to a foggy morning with the high forecast in the 70s today, which is just unheard of for March.  Spring is really coming early this year.

Marti, I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's passing.  How thoughtful of her sons to call to let you know.   I haven't been journaling either and should start again, too.  Thanks for keeping usupdated on Sonny.  I'll check back for your email, this morning.  The Senior Follies sounds like it will be fun to see.  I know some of the senior entertainers can be so good at what they do.

My 81 year old cousin belongs to a group of dancers called Raising Cane.  They practice twice a week and it's amazing the kind of shows they put on for senior centers.  She was a model in her younger years and has always exercised and taken very good care of herself and even now, at 81, she can still "kick up her heels". lol  Just shows you how beneficial exercise is.......

Barb, is your nephew continuing to improve?  I've been keeping him and his family in my prayers. Did you tell us his name and how old he is? If you did, I'm sorry, I keep calling him "your nephew" without using his name, I must have missed that.

Time for me to make breakfast for DH and myself.  Will be back a little later to catch up with everyone.  Till later.......

    Take care and God bless,

    Jo Ann

Wishing you all a good St Paddy's Day....top o'the morning to you!

This has been an interesting morning so for....I'd just finished my Cheerios when I heard a chain saw start up.  Hmm...I wonder who's trimming what.  It sounded close but with our south winds, it could have been several streets away.  As I was heading back here to say hello to you, I saw that this chain saw was being operated by my back yard neighbors.  They were cutting down a sick Bradford Pear tree.  I can't tell you how happy that makes me.  This was the sister tree to the one that fell right after I moved in...and that one damaged the fence.  This tree was about 15 ft tall and there was this fellow...surely an arborist....that was up in the tree cutting branches off hither and  yon.  It was neat to watch.  The guy was like a monkey standing on limbs that I can't believe supported his weight.  He had the rope thingie that guides the limbs where to fall etc.  It was enthralling to watch.  The tree is only fence high now...maybe less as I still hear the saw off and on.  I think they must have rented a shredder as I can hear something else running and they're carrying things through their front gate.  The weather is nice so I sat outside for about 20 minutes watching.  This was an educational morning so far...

Today I must unload that darn dishwasher.....got to do it as I'm running out of silverware!  And I need to use up those soon-to-be rotty bananas.

Marti, thanks for the update on Sonny.  If Carolyn doesn't put her foot down, she'll have her hands more than full.  Until he is much stronger, she just can't provide his care at home.  I hope he will soon realize that and that she will stand her ground on that issue.

OK...got to get busy.....I spent too much time on extraneous matters yesterday.

    I'll check back later.

By the way, it's 66º. slightly overcast with a lite southerly breeze headed for the low 70s today.  Nice....house is open and airing out...no heat nor AC needed.

    Later,,,

Morning group...I've been reading the posts every day...just havent written anything myself.

This has been a rather rough couple of weeks. On Monday, the 5th, our daughter-in-law's mother went in to the hospital for a heart catheterization, with possiblity of stent placement.  To make a long story short, she was admitted to the cardiac unit and scheduled for triple bypass surgery.  The surgery was on Thursday, the 8th. She made it thru surgery but coded in the recovery room...took them about 20 minutes to bring her around. She has been in CCU since then. Apparently suffered a "mild" stroke one night this week...I dont remember what night.  Without going into a lot of details, she will never walk again.  The neurologist says there is some brain damage but is unsure at this point how much.  They called for a priest to come administer Last Rites (I'm sorry, I'm not Catholic and dont know what it's called now) yesterday.  This is very hard on Liz and her 2 brothers as they just lost their father last summer.  She is pretty much a basket case, and asked me to come over last night when she got home from the hospital. So I went and stayed with her till Brian got home from work. She is full of "what if's" and I finally told her nothing can change what has already happened and she just needs to be there for her mom.  Her mom has a couple of "lucid" moments lasting maybe a minute or 2 during the day.

Other than that, not much different is going on here. We're enjoying spring-like weather and are very grateful for a good AC system!!

    Ya'll take care.

Good morning to all the group,

Good to be able to write a note.
Thank you Marti for letting everyone know what is going on here.
I am using Pam's computer. She has been up all night . Now, she is going to rest, and Dawn will be here. And, I am going home. Going to spend the night there, take a hot bath, and hopefully chill out. Get my wits together. It is hard Verna to be strong, but I am trying.

The girls will have to go home tomorrow, but said they will be back Tuesday.
But, I appreciate all the prayers and thought's.

    Love and best wishes, Carolyn

Pat, so sorry to hear about Liz's DM.  How terrible.  I will keep her and the family in my prayers.

Jo Ann, my nephew is Brad and he is 50.  He lives in another part of the state.  I haven't  heard any more news so am taking that as a good sign.

Verna, your tree story sounds like what I've been seeing here.   There is so much damage from the storms that it will take a long time to get it all cleared up.  The tree trimming businesses are really getting their share of business, I can tell you.  They  have the equipment to do those high limbs safely .  We were able to do ours with Kent's help but DH wants to get a trimmer in to cut probably 30-40 ft. off the maple in my front yard.   I know he's right but I hate to see it cut.  He will get the trimmers opinion on it I'm sure.

Viny, thanks for the site.  Now if I could just make it work.   All I know is copy  and paste so I will need more instructions.  I'm not very bright on this stuff.

Ok, I'm in Mozilla and I'm having a problem so that must be it.  I think I've solved this mystery.

Well, Nadene just called and wants me to take her shopping.   She said her DD would but she doesn't want to go with her.  She is getting perturbed at her girls.  I think she uses me as a sounding board so I have to watch what I say and make sure I tell her they only have her best interest at heart.  I wasn't planning on shopping today but she needs me so I'd better go for now.

    I'll come back later.  Barb

Hello everyone.  NursePat, so good that you could be there for your DIL.  I am sure she needed your presence.  And Carolyn, thanks for checking in.  We are all thinking of you at this time.

Nothing special going on here.  The snow is slowly melting, but it will take a long, long time to be gone.

Our adventure of the day was driving 25 miles to rescue older DS, whose borrowed car just gave up on the motorway. He and a friend had been to our cabin last night and were coming home.  The battery light was flashing and saying it was overcharged, and then it just died.  All things electrical just didn't work.  So we pulled him home to avoid professional towing costs.  The car owner can now decide how to deal with the repairs, but the car is safely in our driveway now.  I think DS lost his interest in owning a car today!

Hope you all have a nice weekend! lusi

OK, I made it home. The girls are with their Daddy and I told him I would be back tomorrow. He said ok.

I went by the bookstore Marti, found one that sounds interesting. I couldn't believe the McComber books. I want to find a list of her books and read first ones first.

    Good morning everyone,

It rained throughout the night and we're forecast for a few thunderstorms today.  Yesterday, the weather was just perfect.  It felt so good being outside without a heavy coat or any coat for that matter.  I saw people in shorts and tank tops, the garden centers are very busy, and the joggers and bike riders are back on Brandywine.  All sure signs of spring.......

Carolyn, it was so good to see your post. I hope being at home, you were able to get a good night's rest and also hope Sonny had a good night.  Keeping you both in my prayers.

Barb, I'm praying that Brad will continue to improve.  He has a long recovery ahead of him.

The sun just came out and it looks like another sunny, beautiful day. Back a little later to catch up with everyone........

    God bless,

    Jo Ann

    Good morning everyone.

Carolyn, so good to come here and find you have checked in.  I'm glad you are getting some rest.  What wonderful children you have raised.  So good they are right there for you.

Lusi, sorry your DS had car trouble but so glad he wasn't in an accident.   I think in Finland you have  trains and other means of transportation so that it isn't really necessary to have a car.  GD Jamie is 18 and doesn't even want her license.  She just has no interest, although she can drive and has taken drivers ed.   She is leaving Fri. for her trip to France with her French Club.  I'm so excited for her.  She was here yesterday and we gave her some money for her trip.  My niece got Euros for her  when she was visiting here last summer.  She has done a lot of traveling and wanted Jamie to have some Euros already on hand when she gets there.  Jamie's friend, who was an exchange student and stayed with Jamie last year, is meeting her in Paris.  She happens to be on a break from school so is able to go there.

Pat, don't feel bad about the weather banner.  I can't do it either.  I have sent yet another email to Viny explaining how Computer stupid I am.

Jo Ann, loved the picture this morning.  Thanks for asking about Brad.  I'm sure he is a terrible amt. of pain but is so lucky to even be alive and with no brain damage.  He wasn't wearing a helmet.

I hope to get the bathroom put back together today.  It is clean but nothing exciting to look at.  I do like the floor.  It's something called Allure.  We got it at Home Depot and we got the barnwood pattern.  It's kind of like wood with knots in it, although it isn't wood and is water proof.  I had to stick with more brown tone in the throw rug and towels because of the busy sink .  I could have used black but it was too  much.  Stood out too much.   We changed the handles out on the cupboard so they match the faucet, towel bar and light.  We went to the Rebuild it center.  Then went to the New building center.  The handles at the New place were $7.50 ea.   At the rebuild it, same handles, brand new, still in the pkgs. ......75 ea.    DH also found an oak narrow cupboard that matches our cupboard and sink base so he bought that because we have a space that needs filling in there.  He will put bead board on the sides and a tile top on it.  It is one of those 12 " cupboards that was part of a kitchen set so one side is unfinished.   It's fun to rummage around down there.  You never know what you might find to make something else out of.

Better get off here and get busy.  You all have a great day.  Barb

Oh and I forgot to give you Wed. health news from my paper.  So, those of you who are getting ready to eat a big roast beef dinner, might want to skip this.

There is an article titled "EVERY bite of meat ups rish of death !"  Eating red meat, any amt. and any type appears to significantly increase the risk of premature death.  Adding just 3 oz. of unprocessed red meat to ones daily diet was associated with a 13% greater chance of dying during the course of the study.  Even worse, add an extra daily serving of processed red meat, such as  a hot dog, or two slices of bacon, was linked to 20% higher risk.   Previous studies had associated red meat consumption with  diabetes, heart disease adn cancer.

And I see on the news this morning they are finally talking about the white rice and increase in diabetes.  I saw that Dr. on TV news talking about that and how people who consume a lot of white rice are getting diabetes at a high rate now.

Ok, now go back to your BLT and pay me no mind.  Wink

    Hello everyone....

When I post this weather banner, I open the URL that Viny sent each of us, then rt click and highlight it than hit control and "c"...that copies it sort of into memory....then when I'm where I want to post it, I just put the cursor there and hit control and "v".  I guess the "c' is for copy and the "v" is for view....that's what it is in my mind....and voila...here it is!  It seems that everyone has visibility at 10 miles though...hmmmmm!

Up and out for early church and SS.  Talked to one of the guys at church as I'm wanting a recommendation for someone to make the hole in the closet ceiling for me....he does a lot of construction work for Habitat for Humanity.  I knew he'd know someone....well, he'd going to do it himself.  I'm sure he won't let me pay him....but I will somehow....even if it's making a donation to the church in his honor.

As you can see, our weather is hospitable right now.  Isolated thunderstorms are in the forecast but the sun's shining right now.  However...I have inside chores to do today....the first being to bake a cake with those bananas....found a new recipe to try...a banana marble bundt cake....banana cake with a swirl of chocolate banana cake baked in a bundt pan.  I'll post the recipe if it turns out good.

If I don't get busy, I'll lose my initiative....gotta go change clothes....no cake batter on this shirt!  I'll peek in later...
