Indulgence no longer has to feel guilty. Go ahead, treat yourself!
Good morning everyone.
I have been reading the posts and keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.... no news about YDS.
Take care and God bless,
Jo Ann
Good morning all. Another nice day when I can hang out the laundry. Some rain expected on Sunday.
When I left DD's at 3:30 yesterday she hadn't gotten any offer so I hope it came thru last night. I'll find out when I go today. It's hard to get yuor hopes up and then be dissapointed. The other agent should never have said they were making an offer until it was definate. Wish her luck on her interview today.
DH and I are leaving for Wis tonight after dinner.
Marti, sorry to trouble you about the check but I was afraid it would not be honored after the bank closes on June 22. If you prefer you can shred it and I can send a new one when I get checks from the new bank.
Will try to stop in later but I have to pack so we'll see. If not have a great weekend and Father's Day.
Have a good day, Sue
Sue, loved your picture, yesterday. I always like sunbeams coming through the trees like the ones in your picture. Wishing your DD good luck with her interview and also the offer on her house. So many new things going on right now for her. Have a wonderful weekend away and Father's Day celebration.
Viny, showed DH your picture, first of all that garden looks great. Is that an electrified fence? We were surprised with all the wildlife out there, that fence works in keeping hungry little friends out of the garden. We both enjoyed the pictures of the eagles. How great to be able to watch them grow up right there. I've been checking out the Decorah sight now and then.
Loved reading about the day trip you and Pat took. Don't you just love spending the day like that together...... sounds wonderful. Reminds me that we're way over do for one too.
Jo Lynn, I hope the road work is finished in your area so you don't have such a long and dusty detour getting to and back from work, today. Loved you setting the table with candl light for your anniversary and having leftovers. Sounds like something I would do.... lol
Marti, it must be difficult for you to get to the computer. I hope you were able to get your laptop near to you so you can use it to read and post more easily. Also keeping you in my prayers for less pain while you recover.
Barb, it sounds like it was a really nasty bug that hit DH and you too. I hope you continue getting over it so it won't be taking as long as it is for DH . Is he feeling any better today? Hope so. Take care of yourselves...
Maureen, before we dug down and put chicken wire, under the edge of the fence around our garden, it was no use for us to even try planting..... just when the cukes were tiny and tender, they were gone over night, same thing with almost any of the new plants that would be coming up. I hope you can salvage some of your garden, but now that the criters know where all the good stuff is, I'm afraid they'll just keep coming back. One year I did a container garden with beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce.... and put those on top of the deck in the back yard and even without a fence they were fine that year..... I don't know what happened, though, the next year they just came right up on the deck and helped themselves to everthing...... I don't even try anymore....
Shirley, so glad you can drive again. Is the swelling still going down in your hand. You've been through so much and are doing so well. I don't know if I've told you how much I admire you for being so strong and so independent. You're a lesson to all of us.
Vammie I think it's a great decision going back to WW and wish you success with a new beginning there. I think it's one of the best programs out there and just going every single week will be a very big help in sticking with the program and making a new healthier lifestyle become second nature to you. Wishing you the best of luck with your new endeavor.
Lusi, loved reading about DH's family get together. I can just imagine you sitting back and staying neutral while taking it all in..... very interesting I'm sure. It sounds like summer break is coming just at the right time at your day school... hope everything cools off during the break.
Hi. For those who asked, yes I am coming on my own to Illinois. Leo will stay here and tend to his cabin and garden. Nothing really for him to do there. If he comes, then I feel like I need to entertain him. This way I can be with the family more.
Barb, since you recommended the book, I had to go to Amazon.com and buy it! And while I was there I found another one, too. Then I got off quickly before I could spend any more money. I have read books by Barbara Kingsolver and have really liked them. Looking forward to this.
It was a better day at work today, thank goodness. I go to Pilates later and I can't wait!
Off to eat something now. WW sounds good to me! lusi
Good Morning! I'm in Open Office and hope maybe I can keep fromgetting that horrible format. I changed it from default but don'treally know what I'm doing.
These days are so pretty, wish we could stay in the 80's and notgo higher.
Jo Ann, our culprits eating the young seedlings are the birds. It happens during the day. I know we have racoons but don't eventhink they can get in the backyard with all the solid fencing. Andthey are night raiders anyhow. I was so mad to see some of mycucumber seedlings gone, so cut off the bottoms of old qt size yogurtcontainers and put those down in the ground around them. I don'tthink they can get them now. I have to do this with certain peppersthat get eaten. With basil I have given up like you and only putthose in pots on the deck. I'm thinking maybe of seeding some cukesinside and when they get big, I can transplant. Pumpkins are notconcerning me too much and for butternut squash, I only need a few. I think I need to fertilize with liquid fertilizer sooner so theygrow faster. I don't think I'll ever learn.
Lusi, I bet Leo would much rather be at home taking care ofeverything.
Sue, a “no show” for an offer is what happened to Kim. Ifelt the same as you, why tell the selling agent if it isn't forsure? After that she never got her hopes up with any more promises.
I hope she does well enough in her interview to get the job.
Jo Ann, what a stunning picture this morning. Wonder if that's aRedbud at the center. I love them in bloom but don't think the treein leaf is anything special. Here they seem to suffer some from theextreme cold.
I have little one for my last day this week. Think we are havingan easy day again. She's munching right now and watching ScoobyDoo. She goes to her Dad's for the week next week, so I have theweek to myself. Wish DH was already off for good but 2 more weeks.
Hope everyone has a good day! No banner on here, so it's 70 degrees, clear, with gentle breeze. Perfect!!!!
I have no business being on this today. I can't do anything right !! I just wrote a long post....and then realized I was on yesterdays posts !!! Since I came in through IE, I can't copy and paste , so here we go again, a much shorter version.
Shirley, if the wind is blowing hard when you are here, as it is again today, you can always just watch the kite boards and wind surfers since they are right by where you are staying. And when we "do the gorge" we can tie ourselves together so we don't blow away. Speaking of that, I was just reading an insert in our local paper on things to do here and I did not realize it but there are 77 waterfalls in the Gorge. I've lived here all my life and am still learning things about this area.
Jo Lynn, we were going to have Jamie's party on Tues. but since both DH and I were sick, we changed it to next Mon. DS is off that day so he can get everything figured out. She is having one Sat. at her moms but I don't think we'll go. She has a lot of people coming and I don't think her mom really wants any of us there. We will invite her to ours though. And, although DH and I are both feeling better, I doubt if most people want to be around us hacking and coughing.
Jo Ann, loved that picture. I want one of those purple trees. I love trees and shrubs. As you can tell from my yard !
Lusi, oh now the pressure is on. I always hate to recommend a book because SOME people Just don't appreciate my taste in literature. What was the other book you got ? OGD gave me the name of a book she wants for her birthday and I looked it up and can't even understand what it's about. Either I am awful dumb or she is awful smart. I think it's the latter. It's a sciene kind of book I guess. I have bought 5 books in the last mo. for my Nook and this just has to stop. At least, until I catch up.
Maureen, too bad you and Dick can't do something while Ava is gone. One thing about me tending L. is that DD is off 2 days during the week so can pitch in and also he can go to his school any day so if we want to go somewhere on the days we have him, there isn't a problem. I will have him tomorrow because we switched a day with the school.
Marti, did you ever tell us what you were doing on the ladder when you fell ? If so I missed it. Did you like Dallas ? Did I ever tell you I got a big hug from Kevin Dobson ? He was on Dallas and then one of the main characters on Knox Landing.
Sue, have fun this weekend. I don't know what we'll do since we are having the BBQ on Mon. for Jamie, I don't think we'll do it 2 days in a row. DS's birthday is fathers day as well. HE was born of Fathers day so that year, I didn't buy presents . I figured I'd done my share to give the fathers in my life a gift that day !
Carolyn, sorry about the accident. That's a terrible thing. Will remember her in my prayers.
Ok, gotta quit talking and take Nadene to the Dr. for a checkup. Barb
Good morning... Well, the road construction people moved down the road and weren’t there when I went home from work yesterday. However, this morning when I came to work, they were back out there!! I didn’t have to wait for a pilot car (the flagger sent me on through); however, I met the pilot car with cars following it going the other way!!! That had me a little concerned; but, I made it through fine. I sure hope they get this project done soon!
My dad’s side of the family is having a family reunion this weekend. It is at a lake resort about 3 hours away. The website for the resort is www.sunbanksresort.com if anyone wants to check it out. Dh is not going to be able to go with me this year; he has to stay home and spray the spring wheat. On a normal year, he would have been done with this weeks ago; but, this is not a normal year weather-wise. I’ll miss him; but, in some ways will be nice to go and visit with my relatives and not have to worry whether or not he is having a good time. Outside of my siblings (and their spouses), my aunts, and a few close cousins, he really doesn’t know very many others.
I’m having a hard time figuring out what to take for food. I kind of have this reputation (in my family) for bringing some spectacular sweet treat. This year I don’t have any new recipes up my sleeve to take. I did make the coconut cake to take. I’ll probably just end up making some sort of bar cookie or regular cookies and take them. I am making Vammie’s bow tie salad with craisins and the broccoli slaw.
Jo Ann ~ It is so good to see your post this morning. We miss you when you don’t post. Do you have any special plans for Father’s Day?
Sue ~ Is everyone coming to Wisc on Saturday to celebrate Father’s Day? I’m hoping all goes well with dd’s interview today.
lusi ~ I completely understand about Leo not coming with you; sometimes its just easier to go on your own.
Maureen ~ I have to wonder how easy your "easy" days really are! LOL Enjoy your week off next week.
Barb ~ FYI: You should be able to "copy and Paste" with your mouse no matter what server you are using. Its probably a good idea for you two to not go to your dgd’s party on Saturday. How many will be at the party at your house Monday?
I’ll try to get check in tomorrow before I leave; but, if I don’t, Happy Father’s Day to Viny and the other fathers and have a good weekend.
Until later...
Jo Lynn
Hello everyone.
Busy day already. Up and ready early to meet with Joan to put together Barb's birthday gift...nice basket of artificial greenery to put on her formal dinng table for the house showing whick hopefully will be next week. Her carpet goes in tomorrow and the windows get washed She is finishing up on cleaning the cabinets.
I made Maureen's Raggedy Ann Cinnamon Chip muffins this morning....for us to nibble on while we worked. Sure did make the house smell good. Love that recipe!!
I got two loads of laundry done and folded after all the running around I did yesterday. Lod three is in the dryer and load 4 is ready for the washer. Dishwasher is running using the last drops of detergent I had....grocery shoping Saturday with Rob....need lots of things....and need him to turn mattresses. Will also see if Barb needs him to help her son get a couple of large storage cabinets to the storage unit.
Had a good sleep last nigiht....didn't really want to get up this morning. I could easily nap now.
Off to hang clothes....I'll peek in later.
vammie
Good afternoon. Sounds like everyone is doing well.
Barb, did you ever get as sick as your DH?
DD's interview went ok. She is WAY overqualified but you never know. She heard from her realtor that the buyers may put in the offer on Friday or over the weekend. Maybe they'll get the call when we are in Wis!
JoLynn, I know we shouldn't get our hopes up about the sale and if it never happens we won't again.
DS and his family are coming to Wis too, first time up to our place altho DS knows where it is.
Well, I better sign off, I have lots to do! Have a good weekend.
Hi everyone,
Well, I have been busy. Actually, making a little progress here. Threw away a lot of Stuff. Got the bathroom cleaned from top to bottom. Figured the calorie chart again today, hoping I can stay on top of that now, I know I would feel better. And, I can put the WW food scale to use again. Both of the kids offered me supper. So, that is good. But, I was strong. The girl who was in the horrific car crash, it wasn't her fault. There was a big truck making an illegal U turn and she ran her car under the truck. Pam said the owner of the trucking company came to the hospital last night and told the girls' DH not to worry about anything.
I hope everyone is having a good day. For all of you dieters, I have a question. Do you find you have more time when you are dieting. I think this would work for smoker's too. Your hand's are constantly going toward your mouth.
Well, my GD will be here in a bit, to spend the night. I've only stayed one night alone, and it was lonesome. So, as long as DS lets the kids stay I will accept their company. Marti, I sure hope you are doing ok today. Will be back soon, Love and best wishes, Carolyn
I just reread the posts. That's Knots Landing, not Knox. See, this can't even spell right today !
Jo Lynn, yes, now I can copy and paste from IE. DH had taken a bunch of stuff off here because it was running so slow and now I've put it back. I looked at the website for that resort. Funny, I've never been there and I've been all over that country. My dsis lives just over the hill from The Dam. Probably 174 is the little road you go on to get to her house. I don't have my right map in here so can't tell.
Verna, I haven't tried those muffins yet because I made cookies with cinnamon chips and didnt' like them. But I love cinnamon so maybe I'll try them.
Carolyn, it's nice that the kids stay with you. My Granny lived only a few houses from us and I loved it when I could stay all night with her. She had 2 rocking chairs, just alike. She'd sit in one and I the other. She'd say, " We're going on a trip and these are our cars." And then she'd make up stories about what we saw along the way. And she always made popcorn for us . I can still see her standing with her back side to the stove in her flannel gown, smelling like Ben Gay. She had the most twinkly eyes I ever saw.
After Nadene's appt. , we went for coffee. We stopped at the new bakery and went it. There was a line of people. But I could tell she thought the coffee prices were a bit high so I asked if she'd rather go to McDonalds so we did. She got a cinnamon thing and coffee . I just had coffee. We both like their coffee better than starbucks and I don't know what the new bakery has. They had all kinds of Lattes etc. listed. But oh did their bread look good. It isn't a bakery like the store where you get maple bars and such. They had rolls and breads and maybe muffins. I really couldn't get close enough to tell. But I saw they had breakfast items on the menu. I'll go back with DH and check it out.
Sue, I didn't get as sick as DH ....does any woman ? Mine was different than any cold I can remember. I really didn't feel bad, just mostly tired and a bit of a sore throat and pressure in my ears for several days. Like everything was stopped up in me . No runny nose of coughing up stuff. Then 2 nights ago, after DH went to bed, I started having this burning, knife like pain, in my lungs. I tried everything to get it to stop, inhaler, hot tea. I couldn't take a breath in or out without it hurting. It finally eased some and I was able to sleep. Then all day yesterday it hurt to take a deep breath. I kept using my inhaler and was finally able to cough some and it seemed to open things up and it quit hurting. My throat is hurting again this afternoon so I don't know what that's all about.
I can't believe it's almost time to figure out dinner and I Haven't even gotten to read or sit down. And I didn't get any housework done so what have I done with the day ? Well, I did get the laundry done , which was no small feat. Trying to keep the clothes on the line proved a bit challenging. Also ended up making 2 trips to town. My checkout guy forgot to give me my stamps and the $20 I had added to my debit card. He was expecting me when I came back. He's such a nice guy. Always smiling.
I wanted to tell you that I got a phishing scam thing today so be careful everyone. It was supposedly from Verizon, which we don't use. It was a bill for $1172 and we could click to check our statement. They are trying to get personal info so if you get one of these, delete it. It looks very official .
I probably won't be back until tomorrow so I'll see you all then. Barb
Barb, I don't like the regular cinnamon chips you can find around Christmas...from the grocery store. The ones I used were mini chips that I got from either The Prepared Pantry or King Arthur flour....they just seem to melt into the muffin. Very good....even DS said so! They are a bit pricy but it doesn't take but a little bit....I don't like things loaded with chips.
Off to bed....where I'm NOT reading Barbara Kingsolver! LOL! Can't even remember what I'm reading...think that's due to not holding the book and looking at the cover frequently.
Buenos noches!
Nuit Bonne
