HEALTHY CHOICE WEEKEND 6/16/17/12

Good morning friends,

Where is everybody this morning?

I had such a scare this morning. I fell again outside with Mo. Thank God there was a nice young man to help me up.

I was trying to pick up Mo business and slipped on the wet grass because the ground wasn’t even.  I made it back into the house took two Aleve and stayed put in bed until just a little while again. I was afraid to get up. I think everything is okay. I landed on my right side which is my bad knee and arm. I was in grass so it was a much softer landing. I’m wondering if I should use my cane when I am out with him.

It’s a little difficult with the lease and him crisscrossing in front of me.

I twisted the left knee a little but can put pressure on it so I believe I am okay. My arm seems the same.

Verna when do I pay for my room? I will probably room with Bettie since Marti and Carolyn already know each other. It really doesn’t matter because we will become buddies in no time; we both like to talk.

I couldn’t sleep the other night when I posted “goodnight”.

That happens once in a while so I just play on the computer.

I hope Sue and her family have a nice weekend.

Barb, I am so sorry you are sick. I’m glad you went to the doctor’s.

Please take care of yourself.

I going over to Uncle Franks's for a cookout later this after noon.His son and wife are here visiting. They live in Florida.

I’m so late getting my day started and have several things I must do here. I am on my own now ~~~I was really getting use to all the pampering. LOL

Barb, I was concerned about you when you said that it hurt to cough or to breathe.  It is such a good thing you went to the doctor.  Walking pneumonia is nothing to fool around with.  I'm sure you're on medication, and hope you'll get hte rest you need.  How is DH?  Did he see the doctor too????

Shirley, thanks for starting us this morning.  Do you have plans for the weekend?

Marti, when I read your encounter about falling off of the ladder and everything you had to do to finally be able to call for help...............    I'm so glad  you were able to do it..........  All those phones and none within reach.  I know I talked to you about it on the phone, but really think the safest thing is to wear a cell phone in a holder clipped to your waiste band, or any other place it's comfortable for you to keep it close to you.   I hope you're resting comfortably and in less pain.  When do you see the doctor next? 

Viny, I'm sure you're having a wonderful weekend with your DS and family all there.  How nice, you can all celebrate Father's Day together..... I hope you have a very special celebration and take a little time to let them pamper you on your special day. lol   Somehow I doubt that will happen. LOL    Have fun, whatever you do.

Carolyn, thank you so much for the beautiful card and very kind and loving note.  I'll treasure it always....  and I will give Mom a hug from you.  How sweet you are.

Vammie, thanks so much for sending the card to Tom, he asked me to thank you from him too.  That was so thoughtful of you.   He read your card, then looked at me and jokingly said with a grin....  uh, oh.....    I'm getting really nice cards from my Mom's friends... this must be much more serious than I thought. LOL    I know the card meant a lot to him, though, especially the note, so thank you again, very much.  

Lusi, how did your cheesecake turn out?   I'll bet it was just as pretty as the recipe picture.  

We're having everyone over tomorrow afternoon for a cook out to celebrate Father's Day and also the trips 13th birthdays.  I have my shopping list made out but have wasted the morning playing "draw something" with lots of friends.... Still have to shower and then get going to the grocery store.  I also have some gift shopping to do, so will do that first, then I really should stop in to see Mom, so it will be a busy day.....   not to mention a hot one.  We have an air advisory out for this afternoon and tomorrow because of high ozone.

Good Morning and Happy Father's Day to Viny and all your spouses,  I hope all of yo have a wonderful visit with all your family.

Shirley, I'm concerned about you walking Mo,  I know with a lease he would be all around you, but your surgeries are so new, that I'm so afaird you will injury yourself, is there not anyone in the complex that could walk him for you?  We both have to be so careful for awhile.  I'm sure you'll be sore and black and blue tomorrow.  Please be careful

Jo Ann. you have a busy day today, I hope with all you have to do, you will take the time to enjoy some of the day with a cup of tea.  I know tomorrow will be special for all of you, with lots of good food.  I hope you find your DM is good spirits and feeling better each day.  Normally, I do have the phone clipped on my waistband, but I'm thinking the day I didn't do it was the capri's were light weight and it didn't stay put, but that won't happen again, when I get back on my feet that phone will be glued to my side.  None of my friends can believe how far i had to crawl to get where i got, but the, I think you do these things and don't realize how you made it.

I think today is to be cooler and the humidity is much lower than what we've had all week.  I'd loved to be outside and concerned that Lupe didn't come this morning, I hope his work doesn't get sent out of town.

Oh, Shirley...  what a scare.   I agree with everything Marti said, and I know you probably do to, but we want so badly just to get back to what was normal for us once we've been injured.   Please, take extra spceial care of yourself, now that the cast is off and you're on your way to full recovery.   I think walking a dog on a leash while using a cane would be too difficult, but then I admit that I've never tried.  I just don't know the answer........    Maybe you could get someone to walk with you, and that might be a help.....  

Marti, I can understand how upset your sister was, when she talked to you, and know that you know her intentions are all good when she tells you to be very careful.....  no climbing ladders anymore. ....    but then, I don't think anyone has to remind you about  that again.    Did you ever get an iPad?  I love mine.  Didnt know if it would be worth it, but it's one of the best things I've gotten, now that Tom has clued me in on a few things.   I know you were considering getting one, and just wanted you to know, that I would highly recommend it.

Off to really get moving and go shopping this time.......

Jo Ann, I had looked at the IPad's the day before I fell and until I'm back on my feet and a bit more independent, I won't get one.  All my dsis have one and they too have encouraged this, thinking I would enjoy it more than the kindle, so that is the way I'm leaning.  I had so many things on my list to do the next few weeks and I'm so mad at myself that I can't get out, but "this too shall pass"  I'll need your help when I venture out and get it

Good Morning!   Taking a minute to read the posts, so thought I should at least tell you I'm here.   Nice day, but getting up in the high 80's so both DH and I got outside early.   He mowed the back and front and I've got everything watered in the garden.   I fertilized some things, but will finish tonight.

We will make a run to Verizon a little later, but don't have a whole lot to do today.   Kim is out with her bridesmaids dress shopping and Kurt decided to go golfing.   A 7 am start is really early for them.   He golfs with the DH of Kim's best friend, so they went over there.

Gosh, Shirley, I don't know what to say about walking Mo.   I know how it is to have a dog that zig zapgs and you can get off balance pretty easily.   A dog walker would be good, but at what cost for how many times he needs to go out?   You don't have a little yard that's fenced?   I just hope you are ok - do have Holly check you out.

The rest of you, take care and don't fall!   I'm so careful with all this talk of falling.   Try to wear tennis shoes so I have better stability, but sometimes do wear my flip flops.  And I'm a chicken on the ladder, never go above 2nd step.

Marti, what a nasty experience you had with that fall.  I don't know if you have them over there, but we have these nice little phone pouches you can get here to wear around your neck.  The string is long, so some wear it criss cross across the body, and it hangs at your side then.   I use it at work when I am outside on duty, and I have to have the official phone on me.    If anyone is interested, I can pick these up easily here and mail them to you.

Our lunch was really nice today.  Leo's friends from his youth are really nice folks.  My cheesecake was a hit.  Very nice recipe, and it looked so pretty.  I even piped some cream around the edges and put strawberries on top.  I will try to translate the recipe and figure out if you can get all the ingredients there.  I am the substitute queen, so I always find something that works!!

Barb, sorry to hear you are so sick.  My colleague has the same thing.  She has felt lousy for a couple of weeks, and went to the dr.  Walking pneumonia was the diagnosis.  Her son is in the army now, and he has been home several times in the past few weeks with exactly the same stuff.  She may have gotten it from him.  He says lots of guys in his barracks has it.

Hello everyone.

Long day already!!  DS arrived about 915 and we headed out for breakfast before hitting the grocery stores.  Albertson's was having a good sale on meats....got chicken breasts. bottom round roasts, country pork ribs (boneless), Blue Bell ice cream (on sale) and one carton of sherbet.  A couple of other meat things...can't remember what.  Went home to unload that as it was all cold/freezer stuff.  Then on to WalMart for a near $200 experience...several were generic medicines etc plus stocking up on things...frozen veggies, frozen dinners etc....and now have most of that put away.  DS took my car to Sprouts for fresh veggies and will gas up the car on the way back....I was too pooped to get out again.  All this shopping and I didn't even need milk, eggs or bread!

Shirley....I am so afraid you're going to fall again and break something else.  You just may have to give up Mo and let Sheryl keep him.  I'd sure hate that but you just have to be more careful....you don't have time to rehab and heal from another fracture....not before our trip.  On the rooms, you pay when we get there.  They need a credit card and a photo ID.  We now have all our rooms secured for the trip.

Jo Ann...glad Tom got my card/note.  Now you can tell him that someone here besides me is worrying about him...actually I'm NOT worrying this week...I passed that chore on to someone else!

Lusi, I know you're getting excited about your trip....it's this next week, isn't it?

Marti...hope you are feeling better today. 

Need to go start repackaging meat....big chore...lots of meat there.  Hmmm...wonder what I'll save out for dinner tonight.  I did get some hot dogs.........that would be easy.  However, I am in great need of veggies.

HI all.   Shirley, my goodness, you scared me with your fall !  I hope you aren't black and blue.  I have been concerned about you walking Mo and about Tigger because kittys have a way of getting under foot and tripping us.  I too wonder if there is someone close by who could walk Mo for you.  I know I could not handle Zoe if anything happened where I had knee or hip problems.  Rosie is fine but Zoe is a puller and hard to handle . 

Marti, with your fall and Shirley's , I'm  hoping everyone will all be extra careful.  I don't want anyone missing out on the trip to the NW.  I know we are all really young here but I'm finding myself paying more attention to the "I've fallen and I can't get up" commercial.

Lusi, DH carries his phone on his pants waist .  We both got those holders with our phones that you can just clip on your belt or pants.  I never use mine but I think I'm going to start.  Especially out in the yard.

Maureen, I don't wear flip flops anymore after my lecture from Verna last year.  I do have those garden shoe things and that is mostly what I wear in the yard.   Or my old tennis shoes.

Verna, you sure have had a busy day !  I'm glad your DS takes you on your errands sometimes.  I am anxious to meet him.  I don't know how athletic he is but there are so many exciting things to do here in the gorge that he and his friend won't have to hang around with us old folks if they don't want to. 

Jo Ann, DH did see the Dr. on Mon.  He saw our regular dr. and I saw another one who is in the same office because ours was booked.  It's funny but  the dr. who saw me told me I had pink eye, which she said is common when you have this stuff.  Our Dr. didn't tell DH that and his were much worse than mine.  I mentioned that and this Dr. told me that Drs. don't always tell you that.  Another thing she told me which we all might want to remember is when you are taking an anitbiotic it's good to double up on the probiotics. 

Carolyn, I was looking at the newest TOH mag. which I've had for several weeks and haven't read, and I saw that great looking cake with the strawberries and blueberries.  Did you see that ?  The first thing I thought was, "I bet Carolyn makes that and takes a picture for us." 

Ok, I'm going to lie  back down and watch the golf game.  I may or may not be back.  Barb

Barb, I would make that IF I wasn't trying to stay away from dessert's.  IT is not an easy life without sweets.
Shirley, I am so sorry you fell, but hoping it wasn't anything serious.

Got quick a bit of things organized in the bedroom. I might get things done eventually.

Pat A. and Furniture Pat, and Viny are you all planning a big Father's Day? I have never enjoyed Father's day, or Mother's day, as I had neither of my parent's since many years ago. But, I will definitely miss my darling. I will always miss him I am sure.
My son and his family are going to Pigeon Forge next Friday and they want me to go with them. I am excited about that. I want to go to the Bon Worth store there and see if they have some of the tops that I want.
I would love to go to the wax museum and Aiden wants to go to the Batman museum. I am not sure about the girls, they will just be excited to go I am sure.
Think I will hush, have the last load of laundry to fold. And, DGD is checking to see if there is a movie on we can watch.

:Lusi,  I have a case I carry my phone on my jeans, but some pants aren't thick enough around the waist, I think I would like one  you are talking about too.  Just let me know what they are and I'll mail you the money and if you wait until you are here using one of the Post office boxes is much cheaper to ship,  I think the small one is about 3.95  just let me know

Jo Ann has given me a good tip that I'll use lots when I need to have the phone and pockets aren't readily available.

Marti, I will be happy to shop for that case for you.  And I will mail it from Illinois.  I am going to get one for my mother, too.  Anyone else??

I'm hoping the storm clouds move over this morning and we get some nicer weather for the afternoon when we have everyone over for the cookout, if not, it will still be ok,  we'll just use the sunroom, but it does look like it might clear up.

I have to get things set up this morning, and veggies and fruit to clean and cut up, gifts to wrap and  a few other things that should have been done yesterday,  so will hurry and catch up, this morning and be back a little later.

Good morning everyone not much going on here spent about 4 hours in the ER Friday when I had to take OGS in for ex-rays on his ankle he fell when jogging luckily it was just a bad sprain but will be waring a splint for about a week.

Got the cement slab cleaned off worked in the rain yesterday off and on felt rather good but DW thinks I'm nuts never can tell she might be right have one more rack to take down this morning shouldn't take long.

Had to laugh about the Fathers Day present DD got me it's a new wool stocking cap everyone that knows me makes fun of my old winter cap it's one I got in the service it's 50 years old and kind of ratty looking but it's still the best winter cap around guess I need to retire it this coming winter.

Shirley you watch yourself can't have you falling any more besides you might have fell on Mo. LOL

Reading about Marti's tumble off the ladder did get me to throw away and old ladder I was using out in the lumber storage area thing was wobbling all over the area.

We will be having a cookout with DS today looks like the weather will be nice pool is ready and the girls have set up a slippy-slid but I will not be using that so you see I am getting a little smarter with age. LOL
