Indulgence no longer has to feel guilty. Go ahead, treat yourself!
Good morning friends,
It’s going to be H/H/H day.
I am waiting for the man to come to do the template. (9-12)
Later this afternoon I have to go back to Lowes to sign the contract for the flooring.
Last night when Mo and I were out for our evening walk a met a lovely young lady name Debbie.
She has a rescue dog mix breed (looks like yellow lab and shepherd) name Jake. We were walking along a while and she asked if she could take Mo on further with her and Jake. Mo was so well behaved that she now wants to take him in the evening. And, she came back with a friend name Kim who lives right across from me. She would like to walk him sometimes too. I am so happy for Mo. I know I am never going to be able to walk that far again. I told him it pays to be”handsome”
I’m sitting here trying to think of what else to write and looking out my slider at my new flowers
My garden looks so pretty now with the impatients adding some more color.
I better have some breakfast and take my morning pills.
I will come back a little later to see what everyone else is up to today.
Shirley
Good Morning Shirley and those who drop by later, from weather reports the east coast is going to be really hot today for the first day of summer. I did notice some areas in the SW is much cooler than we are, today will reach 90 so that tells us summer is here.Maureen, I thought it was interesting on the longevity of marriages that SLC was #1 and our area #2, you'd think it might be because this area is known as the Bible belt, but still lots of marriage don't last in this area.I hope Kim has everything worked out with the bridesmaid, seems there is always one to upset the apple cart.Verna, I'll call you later and tell you what I've learned about not having the foot surgery now, I think some doctors would have done it immediately, but with the small heel bones scattered was the danger of doing this and by this time it was too late to do what your doctor suggested. I did get my DBIL involved, again, so even though I'd liked the trip to TX, guess it wont' be.I'm searching for a person to do my cleaning now, can't stay here for weeks and nothing being done, DS will be here a couple days this week so vacumning and a bit of cleaning will get done while he is here, but that's not all I need doing.Lusi, I know you are on countdown, not many days left until vacation and I know you are ready.Back later to check on everyone
Good Morning!
Shirley, I’m so happy for you to find these friends. And for Mo too! What a blessing. So cute, the way you told him “it pays to be handsome”.
You are hot already. This will be our last decent day, should reach 80, then zooms into the 90’s tomorrow through the weekend.
Marti, it’s funny you said that about in your area lots of marriages don’t last. Same for the LDS. They praise that time and eternity thing, but still doesn’t make the divorce rate any better than the average.
I think all is well with the bridesmaid fiasco – Kim came here for lunch yesterday. With Ava gone all week, she’s been staying out at Kurt’s to try to get his house ready for renting. She was going to go with me to look at dresses today, but so many other errands she has to do. She said next week is better, but I’m going looking on my own at a few places.
Cleaning person would give you peace of mind. You don’t need to lay there watching the dust build up and worrying about that.
Not sure what’s on the agenda today, I know I have to cook tonight, so better figure out the meal. At least last night eating out, I had salmon, rice and veggies. I was tempted to have fish and chips, but thought better of it. My problem is I feel like I could eat everything in sight…..and I’m not talking healthy. I’m sure it will pass. I’ve just been so deprived for those couple of days.
BRRRRRR, look at that temp.....
Good morning everyone.
Shirley...how fun for Mo to have new friends to help walk him and what a blessing for you! I've just fretted about your walking him and possibly falling again. You don't need that. Marti's done enough damage to cover all of us!
And Marti, I think it's a good idea to hire someone to clean for you. Obviously you cannot do it right now...but at least you can be there to make sure it's done right. I was pretty sure you were past the window of opportunity for the closed reduction of your fracture....but it's a good thing to know. Hope the pain is getting less every day.
Maureen, the food section today has lots of mint recipes. Personally, I don't like mint except for peppermint candy canes, York peppermint patties and the red/white striped round mints. No mint ice cream for me...ick! So...is the future Sis-in-law going to be in the wedding or not? What drama!!
Not sure what today has in store but have two loads of laundry...the first one is ready to be folded and the second is ready to be put in the dryer. Made myself a chore list for the day and hope I can stick to it.
Have any of you ever eaten Nutella spread? I had forgotten how good it is. On a whim, I picked up some when grocery shopping. Oh my!! It is delicious. I remember DS used to make a vanilla cookie and spread it between two cookies...those were really good. I'm trying to figure out how to use a bit in a pan of brownies. I had some on toast for breakfast but that's not enough protein for me and I'm already feeling hungry....may have to eat a bit of cottage cheese or hummus. Does anyone else eat hummus? My Sprouts store makes a delicious one...I love it on chips or crackers or to dip veggies in. Maybe I'll have a bit of that....it's protein.
OK...I need to stay focused. Hope we hear from Jo Ann soon. I'll be back later.
vammie
Weird. I was just typing along here and my post went away !!
Good morning. We finally have a nice day. Sunny and will be 80. Good way to start the summer but it's supposed to get cool and rain this weekend. Maybe summer is holding out until Sept. when you all get here.
Shirley, you do realize that meeting those gals and them offering to walk Mo is a "God thing " dont' you ?
Marti, of course you need a house keeper. Probably even when you aren't laid up, as busy as you always are. I remember when my friend, who was 17 yrs. older than I, had a housekeeper. She was only in her 50s and I thought I'd probably have one when I got that "Old" too.
Maureen, glad Kim is getting the bridesmaid thing figured out. She doesn't need the stress. I'm all for eloping and having a big party afterwards. Not so much to deal with that way.
I got on the scales and have actually lost a few lbs. since I've been sick. Now if I can just keep up the "no appetite" for a few more weeks. We have that big reunion in July.
OGD told me that a movie star, Kristin Bell, came in her store yesterday and bought some things. She spent over $400. So OGD bought the same scarf that Kristin had purchased. She showed it to me and it is so pretty. I don't know how to wear these scarves but OGD wears them different ways all the time. And the ones they have at her store are so nice (and spendy) This one was a smoky lavender color.
Got a call last night from a friend telling me that another of our friends had passed away. She was a yr. older than I am . She had alzheimers and her DH had finally just had to put her in a home a couple weeks ago. She had a stroke and died Mon.
Well, L. is waiting for me to help him with his "Schoolwork" so I'd better go. I have to think of a word for him to learn. Every day he is here, he has to learn the meaning of a word . Yesterday the word was Difficult. I gave him an easy one because he was telling me that something was too hard for him to do. The day before was Contrails and before that he learned Gravity.
I'll check back later. Barb
Yes, love mint anything. Mint ice cream with little bit of chocolate chip particles in it, bring it on. Nutella, no, but Ava sure likes it.
No, the SIL is not in the wedding party, nor is her DH. Kim has been gone a couple of day, so not sure if anything else has happened. Will ask and clue you in if there is any news. I sure hope not, this has been enough.
Hummus is another of those "bring it on". But I sometimes eat too much at 1 setting, if you know what I mean. The roasted red pepper one is probably my favorite. But I think the last was spinach/artichoke and yum, was that ever good. Kim likes it too, so sometimes we have a hummus party in the kitchen.
Barb, I'l eat enough for both of us so you can stay slim and trim
I just cleaned out my email and made a big boo boo - accidentally got rid of emails I didn't want to get rid of. If anyone can screw it up, it's me.
I hear a band, they must be practicing down at the junior high south of me. Probably for 4th of July. funny how the wind can carry the sound, I am within walking distance, but would take me a good 15 minutes to get there.
Hi everyone. Maureen, I love mint anything, too, and hummus in any flavor! I've actually been thinking I need to make some soon. Nutella is ok, but I can live without it! Verna, do a search on nutella brownies, and you will see lots of recipes.
I had my hair cut and colored today....no more grey for a few weeks anyway!
Shirley, so nice that you and Mo met some new friends. Sounds ideal!
Hope you all have a great day. I am off to bed soon! lusi
I couldn't find a post from me, but remembered I kept losing them yest. so e-mailed all of you. I haven't heard any more news about Kristen.
The kids and I went to Bible school last night, we had the sloppy joe's and the chocolate cake. Was worried there wouldn't be enough cake, but there was actually some leftover.
Tonight we'll have sandwiches, chips and cookies. The Church provides the drinks, usually kool aid, or lemon aid, and of course bottled water.
I got the house dusted, the laundry done, and cleaned underneath my kitchen cabinet, and DGD vacuumed for me.
I ordered some new curtains for my living room and am going to replace the blinds also.
I enjoyed my email from all of you.
My cousin said when you come to the PNW, and come back down from Seattle, you need to stay a week or two with me.??? I said well I do have a round trip ticket. You never know what might happen though, huh? OGS called yest. They will be heading for Ft. Bragg about the last week of July. He said we might get to meet and have lunch with them, since they travel Interstate 40 right through Knoxville. That will be nice to see them. He said Grandma maybe you can come to Ft. Bragg and visit us, and I will take you to the Special Forces Museum, so I said that sounds good.
One more thing, I made myself some green onion, squash, stir fry and added sweet potatoes to it, it was delicious.
Hello everyone,
Just to let you know that the Cleveland Clinic has scheduled Tom for an appmt on July 3 at 930 AM.
Will try to post tomorrow.
God bless,
Jo Ann
Good afternoon, I was up and outta here early today.
Shirley, now Mo has a fan club! I hope he enjoys his longer walks. I bet you love looking out at your garden with all the new plants.
Marti. I hope you find a good cleaning person or call one of the franchises like Merry Maids. Too bad it was too late for the surgery Vammie’s doctor suggested.
Maureen, welcome to the heat zone! Sorry you have been feeling deprived, maybeit’s time for a splurge? Glad the wedding drama is resolved. It’s better if the offending person is not at the wedding so there is no worry about drama on thatday. DD and I like that kind of hummus too.
Vammie, I’m with you on the mint ice cream but its Jack’s favorite. To me it sometimes tastes like Pepto Bismal. I love Nutella; have some in the cabinet right now. I buy hummus at Aldi, they have a good fire roasted red pepper hummus.
Barb, did OGD get an autograph? I think L. will have a better vocabulary than the rest of us by Sept.
lusi, sounds like you are getting all set for your trip. I’ll try to cool it off just for you! LOL
Carolyn, I didn’t know anything about emailing yesterday. I got yours tho. I tried to get back on the BB in the afternoon but kept getting “service unavailable”. You sure have lots of invitations so you can have some nice visits.
DD has sold her house. The closing will be Sept 6. That gives them time to look. Also, she has gotten a full time job. She will be the graphic designer for her library district. So our "salad days" are over. I will babysit 2 days, her DMIL will babysit 2 days and she will do daycare for 1 day. Just that one day for the twins will be almost $200. I feel bad about that but I don't want to do 3 days and neither does her DMIL. I took her out to Jason's Deli for lunch to celebrate. The girls ate a lot and made a small mess, they probably won't let us back in there!
I'd better look around for something to make for dinner. It's really too hot to cook anything.
Have a good day, Sue
Hurray for Sue's DD....both on the house and the job. When will she start work? Did the buyers already have their financing in order? Here the houses are selling fast but the financing/inspections etc just take sooo long.
I have accomplished 6 of my seven chores. Good for me! I'm about to starve but have just a couple of little things to do to be finished completely. I'm pretty sure tomorrow is going to be a laid back day....one of those where I accomplish NOTHING!
I'd better get busy. Glad to know Tom has an appt and hope they can get him in earlier with a cancellation.
Have a good evening everyone.
Vammie, she will start on Monday July 2. They already had the home inspection last night and nothing significant showed up, at least that's what her agent said. I don't know anything about the buyers financing. I am a little down about not seeing her as much tho. I always knew it couldn't last forever but I hoped it would be longer than it was.
JoAnn, glad to hear Tom has an appt set up. It isn't as far off as it seems and like Vammie said maybe they will have a cancellation.
