Indulgence no longer has to feel guilty. Go ahead, treat yourself!
Good morning everyone hoping you all have a wonderful day my DDiL father stopped by late yesterday and asked if I would help plant 5 trees that he bought at an auction sale today not really what I had planed but he wants to cut out some old scrub trees and plant Maple trees so I'm game.
Went geocaching yesterday found 10 but about noon the heat really was getting to me so headed for home on the last hunt I don't know what I run into but when I got back to my truck I had 11 ticks on me I really hate them things.
On the apple pie thing I guess my eating is different as I also eat chocolate cake IN a tall glass of milk and I love sandwiches made with grape jelly and mayonnaise.
Sounds like many of the fireworks displays have been canceled in this area or they have had the fire departments watering the display areas I really can't see ware that would help any with the aerial fireworks.
So glad to hear from Jo Ann that things are looking better prayers going out daily that Tom will get through this with know trouble.
Marti I hope you got some good rest last night at lest staying indoors is not a bad thing for you right now with the record braking heatwave in full swing crops are getting pretty bad here if know rain in the next 2 weeks it could wipe out about 50% of the corn crop, with corn already at just about $7 a bushel would be a great lose for the area farmers.
Barb my doctor also said to take COQ10 for the side effects of statin drug but that drug is very high priced and not covered by insurance so I just quite taking the statin drug altogether.
Lusi what is the manufacture name of the loom and how big is it also what is the price he is asking for it I might be interested myself or have a friend that I will see Saturday that might be interested let me know.
I need to start down loading some books into my Kindle so I have them when we leave on vacation any one with suggestions would be appreciated I read just about anything.
Have a nice day and God bless everyone prayers going out to all that need it.
Viny
Hi Viny. I didn't see a name on the loom, as he has it in a very small room now, and I couldn't find the name. It is a floor loom, and is about 36 inches wide. Like I said, he has a lot of supplies - warp and plenty of cut up rag fabric. He said he paid about 800 dollars for it. I think he would take a fair offer. He is clearing out the house now and will move out on the 23rd. So if you or your friend are interested, let me know, and I can arrange a time for you to come and see it. It is in west Rockford near the intersection of Auburn and Meridian - just behind the WTVO television station and a mile from my mom's house on Auburn. If you want, I can try to get more details for you today.
So glad to hear that Tom got some answers yesterday, and I hope Jo Ann got a good night's sleep.
Take care and have a wonderful 4th of July! lusi
Good morning everyone, AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AMERICA....
I hope everyone will enjoy this 4th of July holiday, whether with parades and picnics, family cookouts, or enjoying a quiet and cool day at home.......
God bless ..... and God bless America.
Jo Ann
WOW! Sounds nice Lusi but much bigger and higher price range then I was thinking of don't think I can help with that one sorry.
Good morning. We are getting ready to take Landen to the parade. He is very excited. He was standing here when I opened HC and he saw the flags Viny had posted. He told DH that it was the American Flag and that it said Proud to be an American. I read it to him and he thought that was really neat. He is looking forward to the military Jets flying over and the horses. The army band will be playing too . I love parades myself.
I have some leftover mac and cheese and rather than throw it out, I think I'll turn it into a salad. I've never done that but what the heck! I already made potatoe salad. And I'm making a big fruit salad.
You should have seen L. when he came in and found that big truck I got at the Sal. Army for him. It's one of those that carries all the hot wheels. I put all of his cars in it and when he saw that, he was so excited. He said it is "Awesome".
Well, better get off . It will soon be time to go.
Hello everyone....Happy 4th of July!
I've already been to the parade....out at Barb's. Their little township does a parade with all the fire engines, ambulances, etc. The Boy Scouts have several floats and the older scouts walk. Lots of Mini Coopers....from the club and lots of hurses....just a perfect parade for kids to watch. Candy is tossed to the spectators along with red/white/blue beads. I took Molly with me and after she had sniffed all of Barb's 1+ acre, she settled down. Came back home to make stuff for our cookout tonight....cole slaw is chilling while I'm trying to decide what's for dessert....am very tempted to just make Jell-O and take Cool Whip....is that a cop out??
Molly is napping....all the activity this morning has her worn out! She slept all the way home in the car too.
I really must get in there and figure out what's for dessert. Back later...
vammie
PS Marti, I like Dorothea Benton Frank....she writes so similar to Anne Rivers Siddons....I often get the two mixed up! Didn't know she had a new book....yippee!
Happy Fourth Of July
Good morningfriends,
It’s very niceoutside this morning but the humidity is coming back later in the day.
I don’t haveany plans. I will wait to see what the day brings. One never knows.
Yesterday Itook Mo to the groomers. He wasn’t happy about that so I had a hard timegetting him into the office. Believe me he was only too happy to leave. LOL
He looks sonice He really needed his nails trimmed I try to take him every six weeks butwith the knee and arm he has been somewhat neglected, poor fellow.
Yesterday Janetand I went to Macy’s to look for apant suit (for me) for Carrie’s wedding next month.
I couldn’tfind one but bought a beautiful sheer jacket black/white with silver sequins. It has a camy in the same pattern. I then found a pair of black pants that look like a long skirt.I would love to be able to wear heels with straps (sexy) but will have to settle for myblack wedge sandals. I have to be so careful now when I am walking.
Janet said no one will notice my shoes anyway.
I went awayfrom this post for several hours, sorry. Holley came so we went to the pool. We had it all to ourselves thismorning. I taught her some of the exercises I learned at the senior wateraerobics a few years ago.
We had somelunch and she just left to go home to rest for a while. She has to work 4 o’clockthis afternoon at Home Goods.
Lusi, youare so nice to help your uncle. It’s good to hear from you so often.
I hopeeveryone is enjoying the day.
I will watchthe baseball game (or it will watch me) this afternoon.
I love thefireworks over the Hudson River so I will enjoy that on TV tonight.
Shirley
Edit I don't know why the spacing is so crazy.
Hello again. Dessert is done. I made brownies with toasted walnut and mini chocolate chip topping. They smell delicious! Also got the cole slaw made and the kitchen is cleaned up.
Maueen, I've perused the recipes in today's paper....there are a couple of gazpacho recipes that might interest you. And lots of ideas of how to do red/white/blue items edible items. I'm not through with this part of the paper yet....want to really study those recipes.
Carolyn...nice to see you. Shirley, wish you were here to go to Barb's with me. Always nice to go somewhere for the holiday without being too far from home. Your pool time sounds so refreshing. I love being in the water.
Need to freshen up before I head out.
Y'all be safe...no messing with the fireworks!
Happy4th of July! Just trying to stay cool here today. Practically living in the house. We've clouded over and thetemperature has actually dropped from mid 90's to 89. Just the 2 ofus today plus 4 dogs and 2 cats. Every year Kurt's dad's side ofthe family has a picnic on the 4th. Even though his dadis gone, he still enjoys seeing aunts, uncles and cousins on thatside of the family. He missed last year to be with Kim and us, butthis year they went. We're having our own little bbq. Lucky it'sin the middle of the week because it really doesn't feel like aholiday. We're having steak, potato salad and some veggie. ThinkI'll make a pudding with bananas and whipped cream for DH. I lovemaking desserts, but if I had those around like Barb does, I hate tosee how heavy DH would be. So I don't make them.
I'mtyping on Open Office so mine will probably look strangely spacedlike Shirley's. I really have no idea how to fix it.
Hopeyou all have a great day, whether it be with family and friends, orjust a quiet one at home. Will check back later in the evening.
Sounds like everyone is enjoying themselves today! Very quiet day here with the temps so high. I did go out to the village festivities for a bit, but it was like a ghost town compared to other fourth of July celebrations there. I bought some barbequed pork chop sandwiches from the Lion's Club and brought them home for my mom and my uncle. They thought it was a feast! We will watch the local and NYC fireworks on TV tonight.
Viny, no worries about that loom. I did go get a closer look today. It is a four harness 36 inch loom handmade from red cedar by a company called Kessenich Looms. Uncle said they went up to Michigan to get this thing. His memory must have failed him about the price, because he said 800. The current listing on this one is 2,600 +. I asked him how much he wanted and he said maybe 500. But he will take far less for it, whatever someone wants to give. Otherwise it will be given to the Salvation Army. So if you know anyone interested, let me know. He just needs it out of the house ASAP!
My sweet tooth is acting up just now, so I am going to go enjoy a juicy peach. Love those American peaches! lusi
