Good morning all. I just hung out the laundry and I hope we don’t get a spotty shower before I get home around 5pm.

Viny, I looked up that restaurant, the menu looks delicious. What did you order?

lusi, you sound so busy, you will probably sleep all the way home on the plane. We didn’t get any rain yesterday, I think it missed us by 2 feet, LOL So DH was watering again last night.

Carolyn, what a nice card from the lady. She must have felt you had a connection during that sad time. Sounds like the kids will have a good week at VBS.

I baked a carrot bread yesterday to take to DD, she loves quick breads. Also taking some leftover mac & cheese. I’ll go soon but I won’t bring the laptop today.

Have a good day, Sue Big Smile

Good morning Sue and all to come.  Love the picture this morning.  Sadly, the wind has ruined yet another clothes line for me.  I hated it anyway.  I'm either going to have DH just put up lines or order a more expensive one from Home Depot.  The one they have in stock is junk like the last one I got.

Jo Lynn, you asked if I had ever bought the Cyrus O'leary pies before.  No, to be honest, it never occured to me to buy a pie.  BUT, I have learned that is the way to go, especially in the heat.  It reminds me of the time I ran into a friend with her grandkids at the store.  She had several pies in her cart.  I told her I thought she'd be teaching her grandkids how to bake pies.  She said, "I am.  That's why I'm here.  This is how you do it. "

I will be really busy this week because the 3 day class reunion at the Fair Grounds is this weekend and we are helping with that.  Also, I have L. today and tomorrow.  We're in for a few days of very hot weather so I guess I don't have to worry about what to wear.  Probably cut offs and light tee shirts.

I'll try to get back later.  You all have a good day.  BArb

Good morning... We are in for another hot day here, too.

Sue ~ Are you looking forward to having Jack around after he retires? Does he have things to keep him busy (i.e., hobbies, etc.)? Will he help you watch the girls?

Barb ~ It sounds like you have a busy week ahead of you. I hope that it isn’t too hot for your reunion.

Marti ~ I’m glad your friends are getting you out for a bit. I think it would be real easy to get depressed when you have been homebound as long as you have been. It sounds like you have nice, helpful friends. I’m sure they aren’t doing anything for you that you wouldn’t do for them.

Jo Ann ~ Where are you? I didn’t see you post yesterday. I hope everything is okay with you.

I talked to dd this morning. I don’t know if I told you that her dh started a new job about a month ago. He is now a district manager for Seven-11. The first few months he will be putting in some long hours training, etc. So, I think I convinced her to bring the kids up for a long weekend in August before Trenton starts back to school.  DD, Trenton & Brooklynn’s birthdays are all in August and I told her for their birthday presents, we would pay for their tickets to come up and visit. I hope it works out.

    Until later...

    Jo Lynn

Good morning everyone....  Well, I guess it will be morning  for a few more minutes...  I'm late getting on today.....

Jo Lynn, I couldn't post Monday and thought my computer might have that Malware Virus that was on the news, because it just wouldn't open, but then called our internet provider, and they said they had an outage in our area. Whew!  Didn't want to have to take the computer into the shop to be cleaned out and luckily, once the cable company was back up and running so was my computer and iPad.

I hope your birthday plans for August work out. It would be so nice for you to have your DD, Trenton and Brooklyn there with you and DH  for a few days.  What a fun time that would be.

Sue, I love that picture today, even though it caused me a few moments of stress.  LOL  Yes, it really did and that's just really dumb on my part, but being from the same generation, I'm sure everyone can guess why. lol

I loved the pictures of the girls enjoying their swimming pool. They are just adorable.  Thanks for sharing your pictures with us.

Barb, it sounds like you'll be really busy.  I hope the weather cooperates with the three day plans for a reunion. Is this your class or all of the classes?  How is Landens's strawberry garden doing?

Lusi, you are one, on the go lady. LOL  It's nice to see you enjoying so much while you're here.  Your Mom is so much fun to talk to.  She is so warm and friendly and I'm really happy I got to talk to her. I'm sure I'll be able to catch up with you one of these days before you leave.

I have to read the posts from yesterday and catch up with everyone.  Till later.... Have a nice day and God bless.

    Jo Ann

Good Morning!   Still early here at
almost 11.   Not much going on except make sure the windows are all
closed, doors closed and air on.   We are in for some very hot days
over 100.   Oh, well, what can you do.   The garden seems to be
liking the heat as long as I keep pumping the water to it.  Nothing
much going on as far as going anywhere.   I do need white tortillas
for Ava since she won't eat the whole wheat ones even though that's
the only bread she eats.   Think it's color that turns her off.

Sue, that is the neatest picture, such
a contrast with the blue sky, clouds and the clothes.

You watch the girls the same days I
usually watch Ava.   I like those because you have a good break day
on Monday.   Wish you lived close-by, I could give you some zucchini
to make a quick bread.   I need to make some, but trying to figure
best time to heat the kitchen.   Maybe I could have everything ready
    and do in the evening.

Barb, my clothesline is hanging in
there.   It has gotten bent in the winter with snow and wind twice
but DH has fixed it.   I think the next time will be the end and then
you can tell me which one is better.

You ARE going to be busy, but sounds
    like a fun busy.

Jo Lynn, I would wonder the same thing
about Sue's Jack.   It's kind of hard when you're going to their
house, I know DH hardly ever went with me even when he was home.   I
think with being retired, he'd be lost over at Kim's house, just not
enough to keep him busy.   All he'd be doing is thinking of what he
could be doing at his own house.

That sounds like a good idea for DD and
the kids to come for a visit.   Lucky that her DH is able to find
different jobs.   Wonder if working for that company there would be a
chance they could live closer?   7-11's are even here.

Jo Ann, when my computer was acting up
over the weekend, I thought the same as you.   Luckily not for me
    either.

You're on here so much that it is easy
to miss you even just for 1 day.   Some of us who are more sporadic
    aren't as easily missed.

The little one is bugging me to call a
friend.   Her really good friend probably won't be at her grandpa's
too much more this summer.   His hours are changing for work and she
will go to the daycare near her home.   She actually doesn't live in
this school district, but this is much better than where she lives,
so that's how grandpa watches her.   Then we are left with 1 little
girl who is deathly afraid of any dog, even the 13 yr old little dog
of Kim's.   So if she comes over here, I have to put the dogs away.
That leaves 2 others.   Hard when there are no neighbor kids her age.

Just about lunch time too........   It's 89.5 degrees on the back deck in the shade.   Sun hasn't gotten there yet.

    Good afternoon friends,

It’s a nice sunny day here with low humidity.

I went to WW this morning ~~still struggling but did lose 1 pound. That’s better than a gain.

Jo Lynn I hope the plans for DD and grandchildren to visit work out for you.

Barb how fast time flies. It seems like just a couple months ago you were having the class reunion.

I can’t wait for the shower on Saturday. I will see so many people I haven’t seen in years. And, of course my good friends will be there too.

Maureen was you able to have a little friend come to play with Ava?

I would like to post some pictures but Kodak is gone and I haven’t figured out another way to download my pictures from my camera without using my docking station. I
might have to buy a new printer that has the memory card feature.

Sheryl came today while I was out and cleaned my condo again. She vacuumed even moving the furniture and changed my sheets.

My new floor is down and everyone loves it. This will be so easy to keep clean.

I bought a small white wooden cabinet for the laundry room, yesterday. It looks so nice in there now.

Holley was going to come over for a swim today but she got called into work.

Miss her but glad she is getting a few more hours pay.

Bettie called me yesterday. She is excited about our PNW trip, too.

It was so nice talking to her. Why I don’t call people more often?

    Have a nice evening       Shirley

Hello everyone.  I'm late today due to bible study, out to lunch with friends, then a quick stop at Joan's house to check out accessiblity, a trip up the road to put the electric bill in the night deposit box....it got lost behind the other bills and is due Thursday and I didn't want to risk snail mail.  So...I've basically been gone all day.

It's rather warmish out there but cooler than it has been...the humidity makes it feel hotter.

The housekeeper was here when I left so I came home to a nice clean house.  Molly's busy sleeping and I need to do laundry but am not in the least inspired to do so.  Maybe after I get cooled off.

Joan and Barb are giving me a party Friday evening...what fun!  Dinner of homemade pasta, homemade bread and a big salad.  Nice!  What a fun way to begin my year.  I cannot believe I've lived through seven decades already.  Surely I'm not that old!!

Need to get busy and find some cold water.  I should be more efficient tomorrow.  I may peek in later if I get my chores done.

I tell you, I can waste more time on
here trying to figure out something.   I was trying to put the
weather banner into documents on the laptop.   Finally got DH in here
and he was having as much trouble as I was.   We finally got it to
work, or so we think.   I'll see if it updates.

Ava is over at a friend's house and
about the time we were leaving another friend called.   Maybe she
will be around tomorrow, I'll have to check.   Kim was the one who
    talked to the grandpa.

Shirley, you made me think of something
    – DH and I were talking about WW and meetings and wondered if all
people are on the new plan or can you use the old points program?
In other words, what is someone like you doing who knew the other
    program so well?

Shirley, when you said you should call
people, almost sounds like my thoughts.   And you are such a fun
person to talk to, so easy.

Verna, does 70 sound as old to you as
it does to me?   DH says he doesn't feel old all over, just parts of
him:)   I thought that was so funny.   I'm a young chick, only 68!!!!
      LOL!!!

Maureen, 70 DOES sound old!  Perhaps because my mom died before she was 60.  However I had one grandfather that lived to 105...my mom's dad.  My dad was almost 89.  Many days my body is about 110....but my spirit is still 17!

Perhaps my spirit and my back should confer with each other!  Confused

Maureen ~ I know you may not care... but, what I do with the weather banner is this: When Viny emailed it to me, I opened it, then saved it to my favorites on my MSN home page. Now, when I want to put it in my post, I just go to my favorites, open it, and using my mouse, I copy & paste it into my post. Works really slick. Its probably makes taking care of Ava easier when she has someone to play with.

Verna ~ How nice of the girls to give you a party. Was Joan's accessible?

Shirley ~ I'm glad Holley is getting some hours in; but, its too bad she didn't have time to go swimming with you. Did you go without her?

    Until later...

  • Re: HC 7/10/12

JoLynn, no I am not looking forward to DH being home except to sometimes help me watch the girls. He can go to his shed and putter for hours so he’ll be occupied. I foresee some fights over the remote in my future. I hope you get to see the grands next month, what a treat. That’s the way I do the weather banner too, from my favorites list.

Barb, I guess those clothes look like they are hanging on power lines aren’t they? I didn’t even notice that. Is that what you meant?

Maureen, I have to agree with Ava, I only like white flour tortillas. I would love to have some of that zucchini; I have to buy it this year. Watching the girls three days in a row is tiring but it’s only til Sept, when they will go to a daycare on Wednesday so I will get a break. Lately Emelie is getting so attached to me that she won’t go to her Daddy when he comes home and cries when I leave. I know DH would be bored at DD’s house like your DH is. Of course when she moves she will have plenty of things at the new house to keep him busy since DSIL is useless at home improvements. If you bake just before you go to bed the kitchen cools off overnight and it’s not so bad, I did that last night when I made a cherry cobbler.

Shirley congrats on the weight loss! Sheryl does a very thorough cleaning job; you must have trained her well.

Vammie, you’ll never be old! A party is always fun especially for the guest of honor…you. Sometimes I think to myself…how did I get this old? Wasn’t I just in high school or just a new mom? I guess everyone thinks that. I think about the twins and Rylie being 89 years old at the turn of the next century. I wonder if my grandmother thought about me getting old... Confused

  • Re: HC 7/10/12

Talking about getting old.   1 day Ava and I were talking about something that prompted her to say she hopes I live to be 100.   I told her I didn't want to be that old if I wasn't in good health.   She thinks for a minute and then told me that she really hopes Papa lives to be 100.   I just agreed with her, what else could I say.   She loves that Papa man.   It was just talk and I shouldn't have been so serious about me, but it was a spontaneous comment.

I realize how old I am at certain times, but what hit home was taking Ava to school and being there with all these 30 something or less moms.   But all of us grandmas became friends, sort of an unspoken bond.

I guess I'm kind of dense but I didn't get what Jo Ann meant about the clothes hanging outside.   Maybe she remembers something from way long ago that I don't.

Jo Lynn, we had Slurpees tonight, actually I split one with DH.   But they are Ava's newest cold treat and they are cheaper than the snow cones at the stands.   I had to tell you that with knowing DSIL is associated with 7/11.

Thanks for telling me about putting the banner on favorites.   I tried it but think I was not doing something right.   Will have to try again, although in documents, it's pretty quick to retrieve it.

Hi.  Busy day here working on my uncle's things.  I managed to find a buyer for his loom.  I put a note on my facebook wall, and a friend of mine who is a postal worker said he knew someone.  Two telephone calls later, and the deal was done.  She is really excited to have the loom. She has a big one already, but she has wanted a smaller one like this for a long time.  We managed to get it out of the room it was in, but it didn't fit into their vehicle, so they will come back on Thursday to get it with a van.  Glad it has found a home.

I had a nice chat with Jo Ann today.  So fun to hear some of your voices!  I tried returning Carolyn's call, but there was not answer.

Tomorrow is the fitness club morning and then I think I will just hang out at home with Mom. Hope you are all well and happy today!  lusi
