Good morning all. Another hot week here, what else is new?

JoAnn, it's funny we were just talking about zoos and DH took today off and wants to go to Brookfield Zoo. I'm a little worried because it's supposed to be 98 today and lots of the animal houses are hot. We'll see how it goes. We'll try to get there early before the heat gets so intense.

We did end up going out for breakfast yesterday and today we had our leftovers for breakfast. I had a wrap with egg whites, spinach, mushrooms and swiss. Just as good today too!

I'll try to stop in later but I'm thinking we will be napping after the zoo, LOL

Whew !  Good morning.  I feel like I've been on a treadmill the last few days, Walking fast and getting no where. ( Actually, a treadmill is exactly where I should be) Wink

The 50s,  3 day reunion was fun and it was so good to see everyone.  We have an annual one too which is for all classes once they reach  40 yrs. after graduation but  you really don't get a chance to visit in that  short few hrs. so the 3 day one is nice.  But very tiring.    I don't think people have a clue how much work is involved in setting these up or the cost involved.  We spent $800 on postage alone.  We had almost decided to stop doing the 50s  one,  which we have every 3 yrs.,  and just give the money we have left to the scholarship fund because of the work involved and the age of those doing it. But, none of us wants to see this tradition die.  I think it is a very unique thing we do.  Anyway, I said I didn't see why we couldn't figure out how to make it happen, only a little differently.  So, several of us who live in this area are going to get together and work on it.

My niece arrived last night and my sister will be here today.  Then we have our annual FAMILY reunion at our house on the 28th.     We also have a Celebration of Life to attend for another 41 yr. old niece who was murdered a couple weeks ago.   We don't have many details as the investigation is ongoing.  So our reunion will have some sad undertones.  We haven't been very close to her and she didn't live here  so it's been several yrs. since any of this side of her family has seen her.

I have so much to do.  Starting with picking all the cherries.  We did manage to give away quite a few this weekend but wanted to save some for family.  Then I have to get out to my workout room and move all the yard sale stuff.   We never did find a day to have it so will have to wait unti Aug.  So I must box up what I can and stack it somewhere because I need the table for our reunion.  Anyone want to come and help me ?  I know you'll all be here in spirit.

So, I'll get off here for now and get to work.   I need to come back and catch up with all of you .

Barb, I bet you do feel like you've been on a treadmill and you won't slow down until this last reunion is over, You have such a busy summer with all the reunions.  I know you enjoy your sister being there the next couple week, then maybe you can slow down.  So sorry to hear about your niece. that is so sad.   Wish we could come help you pick the cherries, I'd help do anything to be able to get on my foot.

Sue, I hope you've been to the zoo and home napping by now. You are hotter than we are, maybe  not humidity wise, but heat.  I think we will all be ready for fall weather this year.  Jack doesn't have many more days to work, I'm sure you enjoyed having his help with the girls today

Jo Ann, sorry you aren't feeling good, I hope you've seen the doctor and will soon be feeling better.  You have been so stressed in recent week, I hope you can rest and feel better.

Maureen, I know you will be happy to have the closet cleaned out.  I need to  toss everything in a couple closets and not put nothing back in them. It's so easy for my closets to get overloaded.  Thanks for the recipe for the chocolate zucchini bread, I printed. I have the zucchini, but guess I wont' get the bread made this year, or anything else.

Verna, hope you are feeling better,  you had a very busy week last week and probably needed a day to rest.

Back later to check on everyone

Hello everyone.  I'm certainly getting a late start here today.  Have been puttering around all morning although I can't say that I've accomplished much!

To the PNW folks....I'm waiting for the contract for the gorge cruise.  We had 15...just enough to qualify for a group discount.  Should have more info on the deposit in the next day or so.  It's difficult working with people with a two hour time difference.  They're either not open yet or are gone to lunch when I think about calling!

Laundry again today...the hang up stuff.Indifferent

I did not sleep well last night.  It was well after 1230 before my eyes stayed shut...then, of course, it was hard to get up.  Tonight is a benadryl night for sure!  Fortunately I've got enough going on to keep me awake.

Nice to have our Barb and Jo Ann back.  Jo Ann, I was pretty sure you were sick when we didn't hear from you.  Hope the doc has you fixed up now and that you'll soon be feeling better.  And Barb...you must be the hostess with the mostest!  You are being overrun this year...all your regulars and then us too!

I need to clean off the dining room table again.  Too much junk mail this past week and I was too busy to deal with it.  Now...how hard is it to toss things in the garbage right away???  I have no excuse!

I'll try to peek in later.  Y'all have a good rest of the afternoon.

Alyssa Carolyn Marie GarciaThis is my 3rd. great grandchild. She is my namesake. Her name is Alyssa Carolyn Marie. She will be 6 in Dec. Only have 2 great grand daughter's and the rest boys.

Went to the restaurant I spoke of on Fri. evening, it was ok. I told Sam the problem with eating someplace like that, is I critique everything. Since I served in a couple of fancy restaurant's in Fl.

    But, it was decent.
Hope everyone is having a good week. It is hot again here.
I got my roof finished. Glad that is out of the way.
Marti, I might see you in a few days. I am thinking about going over your way, on Thurs.
Going to get a haircut tomorrow. And, have that appt. with the foot dr. on Wed. so goings to try to get things in order to go.
Lil Bob got two of his fingers shut in the car door. Poor baby, that breaks my heart.

The pictures are made with a kodak camera. Some of them like this one was made by someone else.
Take care all of you. And, have a wonderful day.

    Love and best wishes.
I have been having some lonely times around here so thought a trip might help me.Cool

    Good afternoon friends,

I don't know what is wrong with the board today.

I had to sign in twice ~~first this morning and now.

This morning I had a nice start to a post when my keyboard went dead again.

I went to Staples and replace the darn thing.

I also found a Digital card reader/writer for my computer.

Now I can just download my pictures without using all the hookups...

I was wondering if everyone received the pictures from Stutterfly that I sent. I know a couple of you sent me a message. This is a new program for me so I still have to figure out to export my addresses from my windows
    mail account.

Sue I hope you had a nice time at the Zoo. I haven't been to a Zoo in a long time. We have the Bronx Zoo in NY that is very popular. We use to take the children years ago.

Carolyn your little ones are just so cute. Your little namesake sure does know how to pose for the camera. LOL

We had some bad storms yesterday afternoon and during the night.
We needed the rain but of course we had flooding and power outages.

Barb I'm sorry about your niece.

I hope you have some time to rest before we gang up on you. LOL

Your reunion sounds like a lot of fun.

Maureen I love the picture of Ava. She is getting so grown.

What beautiful long hair. She is a sweetie.

You asked about Carrie’s wedding it is August 25th.

It was nice to hear from PatA.

I sure hope Jo Ann is feeling better real soon.

Lusi must be having some fun this week. Her vacation is going so fast.

Speaking of cherries, I bought some today and can't leave them alone. I guess I won't need dinner. LOL

I think Mo needs to go out.

    Have a nice evening

    Shirley

    Hi,

Went to the doctor today.  Will wait for the lab results from the usual tests.  Had a good talk with the doctor about stress... nothing really new there....  you have it and you deal with it.  We all know it isn't good for you.  She wants me to try getting more sleep, so I said I'll try. Other than that, just taking it easy and hoping I don't need meds once the lab work comes back.

Sue, I have a feeling once Jack retires you will find lots of special things to do and will really enjoy his being home.  I loved hearing that were out to breakfast yesterday and  you were going to the zoo, today.  Hope it wasn't too hot, though.  If Frank was retired he would want to be on the go every day.  lol   What was the favorite thing you saw at the zoo today?

Barb, sounds like you've been super busy the last few days, but it also sounds like it was lots of fun.  How nice that your class has this kind of tradition.  Are many that were in your class, still in that area?  What does the 50s reunion mean?  Is it all graduating classes in the 50s?  Maybe not, that would be a lot of people to contact, but you did say how expensive postage was.

I'm sorry to hear about the tragic death of your niece. How terrible that was.

It looks like you'll be busy for a while yet with the family reunion coming up so soon.

Marti, how are you doing?  I bet the days went by so quickly with Randy and his famiy there, but how nice for you to be able to enjoy their being there with you.  You were probably shocked at how big RJ has gotten,  since you don't see her every day.  I know, just not seeing the trips for a week or two at a time, they seem to grow so much in that short amount of time. lol   How much longer till you see the doctor for your next foot appmt?   I know you just can't wait to be able to put weight on that foot and walk again.....   I hope the time goes quickly.

Vammie, I missed some posts... have you been not feeling well?  I hope whatever it was is gone and you're back to being well and fit by now.  Tom's dining room talbe sounds a lot like yours..... mail. LOL  Then once in a while we'll be there and it will all be gone, but the thing is, that he has a nice little desk area right of to the side in one corner of the dining room where he could keep it all....  Oh, I know... I do the same thing at times.  Right now, my mail is stacked again and I have to go through it, sorting and throwing away.....  a never ending chore.

Shirley, I love your wedding outfit. Thanks so much for sending the pictures of that and of the shower.  It looks like it was so nice and lots of fun. I've never seen a hat made out of the gift bows before.  I've only seen the bouquets made on paper dishes with them.... what a cute idea.

Carolyn, what  a precious little bathing beauty. LOL  She is just adorable...

How nice to have your roof done...... a big job done and behind you now.  I hope you do get to take the trip you have planned.

Thank you so much for your text message.... you are so thoughtful and your little messages are always such a special surprise and treat to receive.

DH is pressure washing the deck.  No trouble with it drying with the hot temperatures we have and that are in the forecast, as long as we don't get one of those late afternoon pop up thunder storms.  We have someone coming to put on the stain and protection on Thursday, so for now, I hope it stays dry.

I've missed so many posts, I have to see if I can go back and catch up soon.

I hope everyone has a nice evening, and Vammie, I hope you get some much needed sleep tonight.

    God bless,

    Jo Ann

Barb, I bet you are glad the weekend is over but what fun you had. I have a 45th high school reunion next month but I won’t go, I only went to 2 reunions (the 10th and the 40th) and I only went to the 40th because my childhood BFF was coming in from New Hampshire. I had a horrible time at the 10th. So sorry about your niece.

Marti, we did have fun today but the girls weren’t with us, their other grandma has them on Mondays and Fridays but we talked about what fun it will be to take them in the future.

JoAnn, I hope you are feeling better. My favorite things today were the snow leopards and lions. I had a bison burger with sweet potato fries for lunch, yummy and low fat! We were disappointed that the elephants are elsewhere while their enclosure is being remodeled but we did see rhinos and giraffes. We got there about 10am and left at 2:30. It was HOT!

Carolyn, your namesake looks like a sassy little girl.

Shirley, I know the Bronx Zoo is world famous. I bet you have good memories of going there. My dad and I took DS to the San Diego Zoo years ago while visiting relatives.

I just had a long soak in the tub to get rid of all the sweat. Now I’m in my jammies and relaxing before bed.  Wish I had some wine open. Drinks DH is watching some stupid movie about Mars...blech!

Good Evening!   Very heavy rain this afternoon, but should be the end of that.   I think tomorrow will be drier and hotter.   I like it in the 70's, it's great.   And to have everything watered by something other than me is a bonus.

Had to run some errands and also had to grocery shop.   Wonder if Baker's Joy is still around, had to get something made by Pam (same thing of oil and flour).

We have a large pantry in the basement which Kim shares with us.   Lots of shelving and the big freezer is in there.   We went through everything in there today and really cleaned it out.   Got rid of lots.   Looks so much better.   Kim ought to be tired of going through stuff, that's all she did while out at Kurt's this weekend.   They have the basement and think she said 1 bedroom all done.   She asked if we wanted to help with the kitchen next weekend.   That was what I mostly did in her house, she doesn't really like doing that room.   We'll see if we want to help.

I'm surprisingly not tired, maybe I'm finally feeling better.   Something from the colonoscopy really did a number on me.   My intestines haven't been normal until middle of last week and I felt tired.   For a bit there, I was worried I might be like Barb.   But for last few days, I've had energy all day and haven't had bathroom issues.   Kim told me when she has talked to some patients after the procedure, they have made the same comments.   I won't go through that prep again where you have to drink a qt of that stuff the morning of.   That's overkill in my book!

I'm caught up but think I'll settle down for the night.   Will visit early tomorrow.
