Indulgence no longer has to feel guilty. Go ahead, treat yourself!
Good morning friends,
Just thought I would get us started. I hope I’m not posting the same time as anyone else.
Maureen I think with these meds Mo should improve. I can’t imagine anything happening tomy buddy.
I worry because he has been limping for a while and the regular vet didn’t think totest him for lymes. I really like this new vet. She is very young and really hadpatience with Mo. He is a real baby about being examined. You would have thought he was being killed when she took his temp. And, unless they gave him a sedative they could never look deep into his ears. He doesn’t try to bite but screams and just won’t hold still even with two people trying to hold him.
I have an appointment for a wash and set this afternoon. Tonight a group of us ladies aretaking Carrie out for dinner and after the younger ones are going twilight bowling.
Sal’s brothers and friend are taking him for an overnight at Mohegan Sun.
They will have dinner and spend the night trying to get rich. LOL
Carrie will most likely come back here and stay overnight.
I will see Flo this afternoon ___I wonder if she is moving in tomorrow.
I haven’t talked to her in several days. Her family has been doing some of the repairs and final packaging with her after they get off work. The closing on the house is supposed to be Monday.
I better move my laundry to the dryer and get a few other things done before I leave.
Jo Ann I am remembering you sweet mother in my prayers.
Have a nice day
Shirley
Good morning Shirley. Where is everyone this morning? I think Sue kept the girls yesterday but where is she today? And Jo Ann...where are you this morning?
I had a good sleep last night....think my eyes were closed as soon as my head hit the pillow. I had a very productive day yesterday and now can see the top of my desk. I've shredded and set more aside to have shredded....I have so much to shred that I'm going to pay to have it done....it's cheaper than replacing my shredder. I've been going through files in my file cabinet and find that a great deal of that can be tossed. So far I've just done file at random but need to really get serious with it and go from front to back...or vice versa.
Not sure what's planned for today....more work here in the office and I'm loving the results. I do have a load of hang up clothes so will be glad to get that our of the way. And I need to unload the dishwasher....yuck! My least favorite chore but I think it's mostly silverware and tupperware so it won't be too bad....
Four weeks from today we'll be winging our way to the PNW. I think the time's going to go pretty fast now. And Barb....what did you get for me to eat?? Something spicy I'll bet. I think Bettie likes spicy too and Viny also.
I need to figure out why the printer's not working...I think I knocked the plug loose yesterday with all the cleaning/dusting.
Back later....
vammie
Where has the day gone. I thought it was still morning and I've accomplished -0-.... I had decided the first thing I would do this morning was go see the DH of the friend who committed sucide, that was an all morning thing, he just needed someone to talk to. So sad and I really hated to leave himAfter a few wipes in the kitchen, I'm back on the recipes for a few hours and that will be my day, next week is busy, so,and I'm thinking that will be the last week I can play around, need to get serious about the clothes, etc. Verna, I'm really thinking seriously that I may need to take the heavy boot, I'll see what 3 more weeks so, I am putting the heavy boot over the light one when I need to walk more than a few feet, my note from him says not to walk over 100 ft. that isn't a long way, so I'll probaly find room for that too. I know it will go with me to NS.Need to accomplish a few things this afternoon. Time is flying and I'm making no progress. I'll try to stop by later.
Good Afternoon! Working very slowly today, had intestinal problems last night. Feel much better but want to be careful what I eat and also take it easy. Maybe I’ve been pushing too hard.
Shirley, I thought that was a Camellia, my dad grew so many of those bushes where I grew up.
It’s so funny that Carrie and Sal are doing the girls and guys thing tonight and so are Kim and Kurt. Kurt is going on the bus to Wendover (gambling and fun) with all his buddies and Kim is going with the girls to Tepanyaki for dinner and then a movie. Kim’s is strictly people her age, I was not invited. It’s her bridesmaids, wives of groomsmen, etc.
Verna, I bet that’s a good feeling to be making progress in the office. I dread cleaning up my computer table, but know I will feel so much better when done. Today I’m concentrating on the guest room and our bedroom. I’ll just work at a slow pace, no need to rush.
Maureen likes spicy too In fact, at Applebees they have a queso blanco with a hot pepper by it indicating it’s spicy. Don’t believe it, not spicy at all!!! I wished it was.
Was going to mention on our shredder, DH reminded me our old one got clogged easily. This one from Costco is about 2 yrs old, but never have a problem with it.
Marti, I think you accomplished something very special today – the DH of your friend needed to talk to you, probably very comforting to him. It’s horrible being the spouse of one that commits suicide. I have been there for a couple of dear friends at our old house.
The process with the boot just seems like it will take time – no rushing that. But at least you are somewhat mobile.
Think I’ll head upstairs to clean and if I get tired, the bed is right there. Have a good Saturday.
Verna, how can you be cooler than I am today? And look at Shirley, that's ideal.
Gosh, where is everyone? Must be playing....
Cloud cover Maureen...just cloud cover and the promise of rain...very dark in the NW but will probably go around this area.
HI all. I was on right after Shirley this morning but was having trouble with the BB so just got off and then got busy cleaning house etc.
Verna, you know I am gonna have Spicy for you but I had no idea so many like things hot. Don't worry. We have a large hispanic population so there is not shortage of "Hot" groceries and places to eat. And Wed. morning cinnamon rolls at Betties Cafe downtown is a big treat. BTW, does anyone NOT like onions or have a problem with them ?
I don't use my shredder much. We have a burn barrel so as soon as we can, I just burn things. And in the summer, well, I sometimes just toss things in a plastic bag and wait till I can burn. Although I have the shredder sitting right next to me. I don't think it's even plugged in.
As I was cleaning and rearranging furn. today, I was looking around for a winter project. I am sick of not having any real rhyme or reason to my rooms. Years ago I had all old fashioned stuff. Then I got tired of it and got rid of everything, including a very old type writer . I saw one just like it on display at Timberline Lodge and wondered why I ever got rid of it. Oh well. Anyway, I want to get new furn as soon as I come up with an idea. I'm not a fan of Leather but love the look of it and I like the "cabin" look .
It's very muggy here and has been overcast all day but what a great relief to be out of those triple digits. We NW folks just don't like that heat .
My neighborhood. Jo Lynn said she can't wait to see it. Well, you won't be impressed by a couple of my neighbors. Of course I've told you about my burned out hippy neighbor. He has black plastic on the outside of all his windows and the weeds are right against the house and up to the roof line. Then, on the east side of me, some "City Folks" bought the little house and 5 acres adjacent to us. WHat they were thinking, I can't imagine but they bought it for a "get away for the weekend" place. IT'S A FARM for pity sake ! Needless to say, the weeds have taken over the pasture and everything is dead because they rarely come here and when they do they don't even turn the water on. It'a an eyesore to say the least. And the previous owners pd. $50,000 just for the fences !
DH is feeling much better today. I'm so glad. He actually got all the mowing done. Our lawn is nice and green. We've kept the water going day and night through the heat and managed to keep it from drying out. We have no limit on the amt. of water we use so we take advantage of it.
Maureen, sorry about your tummy issues. I've had them the last couple mornings too. Not sure what caused them but I have a suspicion. Seems like I had this problem the last time I had spagetti. May be the meat . I rarely eat it.
I have to get to reading my Nook books. Everytime I pick up a mag., I see another book I want to order and am so behind. Also, the ones I have already bought are always recommended reading so I'd better find some time to read.
We have a couple potlucks coming up. Next weekend a 90th BDay party for DH's aunt in the city. Then a company potluck on the 9th . But ...oh boy,, the most EXCITING thing is when you all get here. I'm about to bust I'm so excited.
Better get off here for now. Barb
Barb....I love onions!! I can't cook anything without an onion in the house. For my dinner tonight I had burpless cucumber sliced up with onion and dressed with sour cream. I salted the veggies and let them stand for about 5 minutes before I added the sour cream. Delicious! I thought I had enough to save a couple of spoonsful for Joan to taste tomorrow....but it was so good, I ate it all. Wish I'd made more but I'd probably still be in there eating it.
Our temp has dropped to 69º.....the first time below 75º in months! We are getting a light rain....if it continues like this all night, we might get 1/4 inch....just very slow but at least it's able to soak in instead of running off. Lots of thunder rumbling and really dark out there.
Is anyone else tired of looking at the "Light Desserts Newsletter" with that cake or whatever with the curlicue of orange rind? We need a change!
BAck to the kitchen to clean up. I had hot dogs for supper...the Hebrew National almost fat free ones. They are delicious! Now...maybe ice cream for dessert....! Y'all sleep well!
And Barb, I'm not worried about eating there...love trying new things and old things. Just no lima beans or liver or eggplant!
This is so funny, not usually me. It’s almost 7 and I’m going to settle down and go through some very old recipes that we found in a box. This is almost like treasure hunting.
DH’s tummy isn’t the best today either, so it may have been something we ate. We’ve been eating out lately way too much. Tonight I opened a can of black beans, grated some cheese, cut some onions and we had bean and cheese burritos with some hot sauce and sour cream. Kurt saw a Caprese Salad being made on TV and instead of plain balsamic, you make a balsamic dressing. This is so much better since it’s not thin and also has a little sugar in the dressing. I have so many tomatoes and basil, so went ahead and tried it.
Barb, as you can tell, I have no problems with onions, raw, cooked, whatever.
Betties Café, think I have a date with you.
Why do people buy places like what is next to you? Irritates the heck out of me. That’s very much like my Virginia couple. They are young with 2 little kids. But as far as outside work, not their thing. Thank goodness they have irrigation so the lawn is green and the guy can sit his you-know-what on a riding lawnmower that his dad bought him. But the weeds in the planter beds just crack me up. Thank goodness the bed by me is full of Butterfly Bushes, so the weeds don’t interfere too much. Plus we have a little wood fence between us so I don’t have to see the ground. But the bed adjacent to the walkway near the front door got out of hand with a grassy weed. So the guy just weed-whacked it. And when you start getting brown spots in the lawn, don’t you think they would suspect the sprinklers aren’t hitting it all. No, they let them get really brown and wide and now an individual sprinkler is on non-stop yesterday and today. Guess that’s a positive.
Glad to hear Paul is feeling better, that has to be a relief to both of you.
Verna, wonder who we write to about that ad? First off, I wished I knew what kind of cake it was. I suspect carrot, but not sure.
Barb, can I put in a request for the cornbread salad?? If it doesn’t fit in or is too time consuming, then that’s ok. But I’ve never made it and want to taste it.
Out to turn off waters and then I’m done for the night.
lOL, Maureen, you crack me up. You obviously don't have the tummy issues I have or there is No Way you would be eating what you did tonight . Yes, cornbread salad, you've got it. We'll have that. I don't get to make it often because it makes so much. There are many recipes for it but I like the one I use. I'll be sure to put out a bottle of hot sauce in case you don't like the taste of anything. You can just sprinkle some of that red hot on it and you'll never know what it tastes like. I have a feeling you'll be checking out the bread bakeries while you are here.
DH had a burger and I had tuna sandwich. Verna, you would be in heaven here right now. I have all these Cukes from Don's gardens. I like to cut them and sprinkle them with Mortons seasoning and let them set while I get the rest of the food ready . They are so good that way. I like them with sour cream /vinegar too but never get around to doing that and DH likes them this way. Don't they just taste so refreshing ?
DH is watching the little league playoffs. Last time I looked, Or. was behind. I'd rather be watching The Last of the Summer Wine and all the rest of my British comedies but DH doensn't like them so I record them and watch them after he comes upstairs . He usually watches the TV up here in the evenings .
Well kids, I'm getting off here for tonight. I'll see you in the morn. Sleep tight.
Good morning, very early morning, everyone. I never did post yesterday.... I just wasn't feeling well, didn't even go to visit Mom. I couldn't sleep, so thought I would read the posts and catch up with everyone.
Shirley, what a beautiful flower. Is that from your yard?
Poor little Mo.... I really hope he'll be well soon. I can just imagine how frightened he is at the vet with the way he carries on. Makes you feel sorry for him, because he just doesn't know what's going on.....
Sounds like a nice evening for everyone... dinner out and then home to relax while the youngsters enjoy a fun night of moonlight bowling.... brings back so many memories.... we used to love doing moonlight bowling. Our whole family would go and I can remember Mom winning a trophy one night. lol
oops, made some kind of mistake and can't find the homepage... will post this and then sign back on.....
OK, back.... that was strange, but was probably my fault....
Shirley, I also wanted to thank you for thinking of Mom, and keeping her in your prayers. She seems to be doing well. I'm glad the doctor didn't dischaarge her from the hospital, yesterday when he said he wanted to... she just wasn't ready.
Vammie, you really are making progress in the office. Makes me want to get into ours and sort and throw away, too... there just isn't time for that right now. Visiting Mom takes a full half day, by the time we drive there, I visit with her, see the doctor and/or nurse, then drive back.... Hopefully, I'll have plenty of time to work in the office, once the weather turns too cold to be out and about. anyway... that's my plan, you never know....
Marti, what you did for your friend's DH was far more important than anything else. What a gift you were to him yesterday...... that was so nice of you.
What a relief it will be for you to get those recipes finished. I wish we were closer.... we could pitch in and get those recipes typed up in one day for you and then that job would be behind you....
Maureen, I'm sorry you had such tummy issues today. You'll have to slow down and make a real effort to be easy on yourself for a while... you have too many important things coming up, not to be feeling well. Hope you got a little rest today.
Barb, sounds like you're in a redecorating mood... that could be lots of fun. I like your idea of a cabin/lodge kind of look, especially the way I'm imagining your house. Sounds like a fun project coming up and just in time for the Fall and the holidays.
OK, it's almost 3:30 and time for me to get back to bed and hopefully to get some sleep..... see you later in the morning.
God bless,
Jo Ann
Good morning everyone well my fear of the doctor changing DW medication just before we leave did not materialize thank heavens but they did change the times and dosage of when she takes her shots feel much better about the whole thing now.
Have been getting yard work and gardening done as much as possible before leaving tomatoes are going crazy and with the rain the weeds are taking over the garden it will be a mess when we get back and Jo Lynn the sunflower picture was not from my garden but next year I think I will try them would be good for bird feeders.
Shirley so sorry to hear that Mo is not feeling good I hope the medication has him feeling more chipper in a few days.
Verna glad to see your temps are cooler you are doing now what I need to do when we get back I have 3 filing cabinets in my office area that really need to be cleaned out what gets me is I have all this space but can't find a thing when I need it.
Barb your like me with the paper work we just burn it since we moved out here my shredder sets by the desk but I don’t think its plugged in either my problem is I never throw anything away just stick it in one of the files.
Barb glad to her that Paul is feeling better and able to do some work around the yard, I have books loaded into my Kindle for the trip but I just finished a hard cover The Hammer of Eden by Ken Follett very good mistery novel and started reading A Southern Family by Gail Godwin she uses a lot of words that I have never heard before so the verdict is still out on that one.
JO Ann I hope you got back to sleep alright I have been waking up at 3:30/4:00 for the last week or so but do catnap during the day so it works out for me normally take a nap about 2 in the afternoon just ask Verna. LOL
Marti you really are a wonderful person visiting your friend at this time I don't think I could do that just wouldn't know what to say at all God bless you.
Well time to recheck my baggage think I have went through everything twice all ready just remembered this morning to get out the air bed never can tell might end up sleeping along side the road some night. LOL
Have a nice day and God bless everyone prayers going out to all that need it.
Viny
P.S. Jo Ann I looked for the temple Run thing on the internet game bar I have on my laptop but couldn't find it might be for the best right now as I get addicted to the games and play them for hours.
Viny, sorry, I was sure you said you had an iPad and if I'm right, this game would take a touch screen... it's a free one in the apps store on the iPad... I pick it up and try it a couple of times a day and don't know how the kids can get as far as they can... they must be really, really so much more coordinated than I am and have much quicker reflexes.. LOL I'm always crashing that poor guy who is running into a tree or jumping him off of a cliff. lol
So glad you are more comfortable with Pat's medication not being changed. I don't blame you. Are you leaving next week? Is your sister in law still traveling with you? I hope you'll have enough time to stop, on the way to the west coast, to take in some of the sights along the way, one of the benefits of taking a long road trip.
I'll be going to visit Mom today. She did not sound good, this morning when I talked to her on the phone.... much more wheezing and coughing. I think this took a turn for the worse, when they switched her from the IV antibiotics to the oral antibiotics. She was doing very well while on the IV, then the nurse said Mom was upset with the IV site having to be changed, and so the doctor said they could switch her to the oral....... I don't agree with that and don't think it was a good thing to do.... Waiting for the nurse to call me back so we can discuss this.... Carolyn, thanks so much.... I got your card for her in the mail and will take it with me when I see her today. What kind of things have you been up to this weekend. I'm sure you've been making something delicious to share with someone... as you usually do. I wish I knew how you take a picture and then are able to post it to the BB. Do you use a camera or take it on your cell phone? I think I need some computer classes. LOL
I'm not sure if I'll go to church today.... just feeling kind of listless, probably from not sleeping well. I haven't even decided what dinner will be, which is something I usually plan ahead for Sunday. I have boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the freezer that I can take out to thaw. Can always find some interesting way to bake those or maybe I'll cut them into strips for a stir fry.... We'll see...... maybe we'll just have grilled hot dogs with a pasta salad....
I hope everyone will have a nice Sunday.
I wonder where this is... it looks beautiful. There was no information with the photo......
I talked to Mom's doctor, who told me that her wheezing and coughing is because of her COPD. OK, now where did they get that idea???? She said that she came to the hospital with a diagnosis of previous COPD, which I informed her, was someone's mistake since Mom has never had that or any other kind of a breathing/lung problem. The doctor agreed to put her back on the IV antibiotics and said a pulmonologist would be there to also see her and probably start her on a steroid inhaler. She was doing so well...... this turn in her condition is surprising.
I'm leaving soon for the hospital. Till later.......
