Indulgence no longer has to feel guilty. Go ahead, treat yourself!
Good morning everyone,
It looks like a beautiful week of warm and sunny weather. I changed my time to the correct time zone on the bb, yesterday, so my time is finally accurate. I don't know what else I did, but for a while was getting every HC BB post on my email. With advice from Viny as to what to be sure was checked off in my account, that problem seems to be solved.
Going to DDIL's to wait for a delivery, and I'll take my laptop, so will check back a little later this morning, to see who is here and to check the later posts from yesterday.
I hope everyone will have a nice start to their week.....
Take care and God bless,
Jo Ann
PS, just checked and am still getting HC posts on my email... ugh, Marti, I remember when that happened to you...... I wrote to "report abuse" yesterday, so maybe today they'll help with this.
Good morning all!
A late Happy Mother's Day to all! It looks like everyone had a nice day!
Jo Ann love the new picture. I sure hope you never run out of them. You've had some real beauties. Have you heard any news on how much longer your mom will have PT? She sounds like she's doing well.
Shirley, hope you're doing ok with the broken elbow. You sure are getting tested.... Hope all is healed before your trip to Marti's & the PNW...
Verna, I would bet most kids don't know what a breadbox is. Will have to look back today to see the next clue in your mystery. I sure hope Deb gets to AL ok. It's amazing how everything is someone else's fault even though it's her choices.... My brother was the same way. He drove my mother nuts at times.
This is my 2nd week of HE!! at work. The family will be back partially to work on Friday with the rest coming home on Sat. and they will be back to work on next Monday. We haven't even had time to do any of our usual cleaning out while they're gone. I am SO ready for a vacation myself.
Nurse Pat, have you started to look into that trip yet?
Time to get ready for work! Till later! Pat A
Good Morning Jo Ann & Pat. Jo Ann, a beautiful picture this morning. Good to hear you were able to correct your posting time. I note that Pat's is off this morning, I can't understand how this happens and I'm not sure mine is correct. I did go in and do what Sue told me to check and the time was correct, but doesn't show the correct time when I post. I did everything I was told to eliminate the email post and nothing helped, finally Sue helped by blocking and she was to walk me through to get things cleared up, I never went back to her, once it was off, I didn't care, it's sure a nuisance to get all the emails and mine were other places I visited, not just the HC site. You may have to go to her to get this stopped. All this started when they made changes on the board.Pat, good to see you here so early, I know you will be happy to see the bosses roll back into town. When do you take a vacation and will you be going to Lynn's this year?Weather is really messy this morning, rained hard all night and forecast is for rain most of the week, won't complain, just don't like to be out in it, but will need to get to the travel agt. for a few hours this morning. Plus I've got a couple items on my charge that I need to dispute. Do any of you ever charge anything and the next year they automatically charge it again. The newspaper here has done that and I've had a couple magazine to do the same. This morning, I'm going to have my charge card # changed to avoid anymore of this, makes me not want to charge an item. ">Be back later......
Good morning eveyrone. Looks like another nice day here.
JoAnn, what a beautiful picture today. When TOH updated the BB last time I got the emails too but they stopped by themselves.
Pat, I hope your week goes better than you think it will. Just keep taking deep breaths...
Marti, your weather sounds horrible. Too bad it wasn't nice for Mother's Day. I bet some family parties were moved indoors. I only have 2 things that automatically renew on my charge, Sam's Club membership and Hallmark.com. Classmates.com used to renew but I was able to go into my account and change the option to "renew manually" and that stopped it.
Today I have to get my nails done, plant 2 Bleeding Heart perennials I bought at the botanical garden sale on Saturday, make some frozen chocolate covered bananas and maybe slice, blanch and freeze some carrots. I think the carrots better wait til I defrost the freezer in the garage. Maybe I should work on putting some of that stuff into the freezer part of the kitchen fridge.
What can be in Vammie's kitchen?? I am NOT good at guessing.
I better get dressed now. Will stop in later...
Have a good day, Sue
Good morning everyone looks like a beautiful morning so I am headed out to work in the tree line think I will get the YGS to help me today he is done with school just got home late Friday night. Should get some black dirt and plant the flowers we have setting around and put down new mulch also and I see the garden needs hoeing do have potatoes peeking through so looks good there cache you all later I hope.
Have a nice day and God bless everyone prayers going out to all that need it.
Viny
OK, got my laptop on line using K's wireless router, but had to try three times till I got the key right. The painter is here and I'm waiting for someone to deliver the new bathroom vanity tops. Lots of redecorating going on here and I love to see it all coming together. Judy seems to have a real talent for decorating. I've always told her if she wasn't in the nursing/teaching field, she could be a decorator. I'm always asking her advice....
Pat, so sorry things are so bad at work for now... hope things will surprise you today and go well. Mom is doing really well, lately, even with PT, but they still haven't said when she'll be going home. If it's anything like last time, she'll go back for a trial run first, with a therapist, and then a determination will be made. I think once they take her back home for her trial run, she'll be really ready for it, so once that happens it won't be long.
Marti, on those automatic charges for renewals, I've cancelled magazines for doing that. It makes me angry that the latest ploy they're using is to automatically renew you with a little notice that you have to respond to if you DO NOT want renewed. I don't like that one bit, so wrote back to cancel my account with two magazines.
I did contact Sue, and she said she was wondering if I asked to be notified by email when someone posted, which I didn't. Maybe it's fixed, by now, but I haven't checked email yet. There have been several posts since this mornin, so I'll check when I finish here. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Sue, your nails must be beautifiul. Every time you say you're getting your nails done, I cringe, because I haven't been taking care of mine and used to do that regularly. They're in need of some TLC, so I should do something about that.
I love guessing games. and told Vammie, that I probably drive poor DH crazy with all my 20 question games. LOL So, what is found in Vammie's kitchen???? Hmmmmm well I can think of something that's probably found in her kitchen, quite often, but I'm not going to venture a guess, because she said no questions..... LOL Can't wait for today's clue.
Viny, thanks for trying to help, yestrday... at first I thought it worked, but it didn't. Maybe Sue can do something from her end.
The little retaining wall border in today's picture, reminded me of your beautiful patio, that's why I posted it. I wouldn't be at all surprised, with all the work you do in your yard, that before you know it, your yard will look just like that picture, even better......
I brought lots of paper work to do here, while I house sit waiting for the painter to finish, who knows when, and the delivery, so better get busy and accomplish something.
Till later...
Larger than a breadbox, smaller than an elephant
Often found in THE (not MY) kitchen
It has silver colored components.
Good morning gang.
It's beautiful here today . It's supposed to reach 90º . I have L. who will be here any minute. I usually have him Tues. and Wed. but asked if they could switch his school day today so that we can go to the city tomorrow. I have a 30% off at Kohls and it's almost expired.
I put L.'s little pool up and filled it with water so imagine it will be full of cars, trucks and super hero toys soon. I don't know if he'll be in it though. It's just a small wading pool. We used to have big pools but sold them because they were too much work for the amt. of use they got. Now that the kids are older, they just aren't here to use it much.
Someone asked why put the coins in the bags of water to keep out flying insects. It's something shiny I guess that reflects...and if you've ever seen the movie "The Fly", you know they see through different eyes than humans.
Well, I must go for now. Need to get laundry done before it gets too hot. They are spraying in the orchard but hopefully are done by our house.
See you later and you all have a great day. Barb
So far I have planted and watered the Bleeding Hearts, made the chocolate covered frozen bananas, paid bills online, spread some ant killer granules in our yard (lots of anthills there), moved some house plants onto the patio and balanced the checkbook (close enough). Now I am making some banana bread to take to DD’s tomorrow. DH is not a big fan of it but DD and I love it.
JoAnn, I bet Judy’s house is beautiful. I ask DD’s advice sometimes but now my kitchen looks VERY similar to hers, LOL I get my nails done every other Monday because I have acrylic overlay and it needs to be filled in every 2-3 weeks. I like going on Mondays because they aren’t busy and I am not at DD’s.
Vammie, silver color components? One word…cryptic.
Barb, I bet L will have a ball in the pool even if he doesn’t go in. I have heard of hanging bags of water but not with coins in them.
I think I better get back to the banana bread now.
Hmmmm....silver components. Are we allowed to guess? Is it a Kitchen Aid mixer? I want a silver one, that's why I am wondering.
Mother's Day was a quiet event here. One son was working, the other returning home only in the evening. My present also has silver components, but it isn't the Kitchen Aid I wanted. It is an electric smoker. We smoke things at the cabin over a fire, and we do enjoy smoked fish a lot. DH has been wanting one of these for our city homel Using Mother's Day as an excuse, he used the opportunity to get one for me! And he also bought two white fish filets which were smoked immediately, so we could have smoked fish for breakfast. I'm not a real Finn, so I have some trouble eating fish for breakfast, but since it was my present and made especially for me, I had to oblige. I think when Father's Day rolls around, I will buy DH a silver Kitchen Aid mixer. We did go to the single sister's for lunch, and it was really awful! She has just retired, and has never really cooked much. Yesterday's lunch was soup - ground beef and dill pickle soup. And that is no joke!! Even putting sour cream on top did not disguise the fact that it was dreadful! And the cake for dessert was also a disaster. She didn't have any regular flour, so she substituted some kind of heavy (maybe barley or rye) flour to make the sponge. It was like a rock, and she didn't moisten the layers, so there was just whipped cream between the two layers and on top, and it was decorated with a handful of red currants. Absolutely no taste at all. Sorry, but the BB is not allowing me to make paragraphs. Hope everyone is off to a good start this week. I'm really tired after one day of work, so will hit the bed early. We have a public holiday on Thursday - Ascension Day. So my work week is one day shorter. Take care! lusi
GOOD AFTERNOON FRIENDS,
IT SURE SOUNDS LIKE ALL OF OUR LADIES HAD A NICE MOTHERS DAY.
ALL OF MY FAMILY WAS HERE YESTERDAY, EXCEPT MATTHEW, HE WAS WORKING.
DD HOLLEY AND UNCLE FRANK PLANTED MY GARDEN IT IS SO PRETTY. SIL JOE PLANTED THE BLEEDING HEART IN THE FRONT A GIFT FROM HIM AND SHERYL.
VINY I LOVE YOUR PATIO. PLEASE TELL PAT ‘HELLO’ FOR ME.
DD SHERYL WAS HERE FIRST THING THIS MORNING AFTER DOING A QUICK STOP AT THE GROCERY STORE FOR ME. MY LITTLE PLACE IS SPOTLESS AGAIN. BUT, MOST OF ALL MOM HAD A MUCH NEEDED SHOWER. I CAN MANAGE PRETTY WELL SO SHE DIDN’T NEED TO SEE ME NUDE. SHE SAID SHE WOULDN’T CARE BUT I WAS HAPPY IT WORKED OUT SO GOOD.
IT’S CLOUDY TODAY WITH A CHANCE FOR RAIN TOMORROW AND WEDNESDAY.
I WILL START BACK WITH PT THREE DAYS A WEEK. I NEED TO COMPLETE KNEE PT BEFORE I START WITH THE ARM. I AM PRAYING NEXT WEEK SHOWS THAT IT IS HEALING SO I WON’T NEED SURGERY.
I’LL TRY TO POST EVERY FEW DAYS BUT IT TAKES SO LONG WITH ONE FINGER.
LOVE THE PICTURES EACH DAY
HAVE A NICE DAY SHIRLEY
Hello everyone.
Just back home after having lunch in town with DS. We ate at a German deli...Kuby's...where I get the delicious pimiento cheese. I had pastrami and Swiss on grilled rye and he had double smoked pork chops served with German potato salad, sauerkraut and red cabbage. Delicious! He also had a slice of bread which we found out was a nine grain bread...and was it ever good. Wonderful chewy crust with the insides soft as a pillow. I bought a loaf to bring home. I'll divide the loaf in 1/4s and wrap and freeze it so that it won't mold before I eat it. Can't wait to make toast in the morning. I also got a few containers of the pimiento cheese to share with friends as well as a jar of the red cabbage (so delicious!), a Milka brand dark chooolate bar and something else...maybe that was the two individual Milka candies I got that we had for dessert. Sue, when you come visit, we'll go to this place. In the deli (and on the menu) they have a wurst salad...looks like a ham salad and I'll bet it's really good. For Mother's Day, DS got me a really good (read expensive!) box grater. I've wanted one for years but wasn't willing to part with $30....so now I have one. Think I need to tell him to buy me good quality kitchen stuff as he'll inherit it one day.....well, it sounds like a good idea to me!
Loving everyone's guesses! Lusi, I would enjoy a Kitchen Aid stand mixer like DS has but I have an Oster one that has a zillion attachments....food processor (small), juicer, also a grinder I think....and dough hooks. I do love the mixer as it leaves my hands free to get into other things as I'm mixing. Good guess...but wrong! And I like your thinking...I'm sure Leo would love a mixer for Father's Day!
Shirley...good to see you and how sweet of your family to get your garden planted for you. Sheryl is really a good help....and with your home so much smaller, I'll bet she can clean and straighten up in an hour or so.
I drove past DD's street on the way home....saw the moving truck parked in front and open but it didn't look full yet. I have not heard a word from her.
Not sure what I'll accomplish the rest of today. I have leftover tuna salad that I'll have for supper so no cooking involved. It's a beautiful day here....I hope Wednesday is as nice as I'd like to get out and deadhead the roses I can reach and need to clean out my patio pots....I was going to leave them empty but they just look so forlorn that way.
I'd better get busy....y'all have a good rest of the day.
vammie
Shirley, glad you had a nice day and your garden is all planted. Is your Bleeding Heart white or pink? Mine are pink but DD's DMIL has white ones.
lusi, you could write a book about Leo's sisters! I was laughing so hard about the meal she made for you. I guess you have to give her points for trying. If she ate it with you she must know how bad it was. But then if she eats her own cooking maybe she's used to it, LOL. If you ever see the series Vicar of Dibley there was a character on it that made weird food just like that. I just KNOW Leo will enjoy the mixer you get him for Father's Day.
Vammie, you had such a nice day with DS but I know it doesn't make up for DD. I have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer and I love it. When my DMIL passed away DFIL gave me her Oster Kitchen Center like you have but no booklet and I never could figure it out so I donated it years ago.
Lusi, I have a KA stand mixer that I bought myself for Christmas 2 yrs. ago. Mine isn't silver...well, I guess I'd call it Brushed Stainless. I thought about the ones with color but knowing how often I change my mind, I thought I'd better stick to the safer one. My DSis has the copper colored one. I would have loved that but love the price I got mine for more. They have been having them on sale here on Black Fri. I know what I forgot to ask you. Was last weeks episode of Doc Martin the last in the series ....forever ? This week was a rerun and they way they ended the one before, I just kind of thought maybe it was the end.
From the temps I see all of you have, I think we have you beat. We are at almost 90 now. I'm going to fix tuna sandwiches to go with the mac. salad tonight. It's too hot to cook.
Well, this child is bugging me so I'd better get off here. I guess I need to play.
Barb, I saw your weather this morning and they predicted it would break records, we had a sunny afternoon, but rain is back for the next couple days, That's ok, I'm staying home tomorrow, and I called the Credit Card and they are changing my number and over nighting me new one. Jo Ann, it was magazines that charged two automatically and I too cancelled the subscription, I've changed my card number twice because of this, I even ask when I charge if they will note, "no automatic charge" still get them, makes me so mad. I hope Sue got your emails stopped, wish I had gone to her before I pulled my hair out. That has to be a system problem, because I didn't check anything either.Verna, I see no one is getting close, where's is their imagination?? Come on, girls & Viny, think............Of course, if you get it, I'll wonder how you did it??? As I said, good brain work.I spent 4 hours at the travel agt, and this was all because of a cr card mess, have it cleared up but I had to call everyone.. Jo Ann, I bought a new shredder at Sam's, got a Royal again, about $49. but on the way home I remember that DH always oiled the shredder, I came home and put oil down in the slot, it's working now. I'll wait a few days, if it works, I'll take this one back, or maybe just put near my computer.. we'll see how it works, its had a workout the few years that I've had it so it may be on it's last leg anyway. You might want to oil yours to see if that helps. I uses oil that DH used on his clippers, I think I remember him telling me that machine oil would work, but time will tell.
Can't wait until tomorrow to see the next clue.....
