Indulgence no longer has to feel guilty. Go ahead, treat yourself!
Good morning everyone. Looks like another nice day here. I can't believe it's been so nice lately.
We are having the kids up to Wis for Father's Day on Saturday. I asked them up for a cookout and asked DH to tell me what he wants to eat. He surprised me by saying meatloaf, mashed potatoes and peas. So it will be a cook-in instead, LOL.
I hope DD gets a decent offer today and they can sell their place. I know there will be some going back and forth but I hope they can agree on a price. Then they will have to start looking seriously. She also has a job interview tomorrow for a graphic design job at the library. Lots of changes going on for her.
I am off to get another right now. Will be back later.
Have a good day, Sue
This is a picture of 2 Bald Eagles yearlings that was inspecting my potatoes yesterday morning they were fighting over something I thought it was a small animal but on further inspection after they left found that they had my plant marker (I use old pill bottles for markers) they really did a number on it, watched them for about 20min.
Good morning Sue and everyone to follow must agree with Sue on the weather couldn't ask for any better.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Jo Lynn & Les sorry it's late hope you had a relaxing time together.
Lots going on here keeping up on everything is keeping me running first thing in the morning I went to Oregon, IL to get the license for my boat trailer then DW and I made a day trip up into WI to a guy that makes yard ornaments ordered a new top for DDiL birdbath and a new Gazing Ball this will be her birthday present the 27th of this month. DW ordered a bench that looks like a log for the yard we are still debating ordering a fountain I think it's to big must be 5 foot tall. On the way home we stopped at an ice-cream place for a Strawberry Sunday very good and further down the road we stopped at Eickman's meat market for some fresh meat and cheese all in all a very nice day.
Barb I hope you and DH are feeling better today sounds like lunch with your friend went very well.
Shirley so glad to see you posting more keep up the good work sounds like you are on top of everything hope your redecorating go's smoothly.
Lynn so glad to hear from you the kids are growing up so fast loved the Kenny stories in the past guess he is settling down a little more now right have fun with your parents this week how long will they be staying.
Lusi love the stories of your in-laws do you stay out of there bickering or do they try to drag you into it as a deciding factor? LOL
Marti I was wondering about your injury that they will not do surgery for a year did I see that right will you still be making the PNW trip rather confused on what is going on?
Verna I never even got in on the guessing but then I'm not very good at it anyway glad you had a nice visit with Pat and Dale I to wish they could make it to the PNW get together.
Have a nice day and God bless everyone prayers going out to all that need it.
Viny
Good Morning! I have DH home so Ava is outside with him right now. She wanted me to play a game with her, but told her after I’m done on the computer. And still have to put sunscreen on my face.
Viny, you sure are busy, no boring retirement for you. I’m so glad you got that picture of the 2 little Bald Eagles. They sure thought those pill bottles had something in them.
Sounds like you and Pat had a really nice day yesterday. I love those kinds of mini-trips.
You’re about the same temperature as us when I last looked.
Sue, some changes could be coming in DD’s life. I do hope they can sell the condo, that would be a load off their minds. Is the job she’s seeking PT or Full Time? Are you going to be the baby sitter?
Better get off – have some things I want to get done.
Hi everyone. Viny, very cool to get such a good photo of the baby bald eagles. Must have been fun to watch. My brother sees bald eagles sometimes. His place is on the Pecatonica River.
Strange things happening at work. We all need the summer vacation. 11 more work days! Then we are closed for a month. I just hope some of the hard feelings can be overcome. I don't have any problem at all. But one of my close colleagues does, and she is just a mess.
Verna, I come over on Saturday the 30th and will be there until July 24th.
As for the family circus, I remain neutral. So do the other spouses. In fact, one of the spouses came over to me on Saturday and said, "isn't this a fun thing to watch?" We especially enjoyed the ex-husband and sister bickering like they were still married and the mean sister just provoking them all the time so they would argue even more.
I hope you are all doing fine today! lusi
Forgot to say a late happy anniversary to JoLynn and Les. 36 years! You are 10 years ahead of us!
Barb, I had a similar problem with my voice last week. Didn't lose it completely, but nearly! And my throat was just dry. Still a lot of pollen in the air here, so that must have been the problem. Back on the antihistimines for me.
Beautiful picture this morning again Sue. It is nice here too......well, it's beautiful but WINDY. I should not complain. We do have to put up with it to live here an enjoy when it isn't blowing. We'll be wishing for wind when it gets hot. Mon. was a perfect day . The TV guy said that people always wonder why we live in Or. when it's the rainy season but when we get the perfect days, we say, "This is Why." I noticed on one of the websites for our area the guy says, "The Gorge is my gym" because there are so many sports to be done here.
As you can see, I've gone in here on Mozilla again. I don't know why it does this to my font every time I use it. I'll finish this in a minute. I'm going in through I E.
Ok, let's try this again. Viny, what a neat thing to have Eagles at your house. People come from all over to see them nesting here in the Gorge. We don't have any right here by our place but do have lots of hawks. I love hearing about all the things you are getting for your yard. I do hope you take pictures to send us.
Lusi, I forgot to tell you how much I enjoyed your In law stories too. I can only imagine what that must be like getting together with them all. How are the boys ? Any serious girlfriends yet ?
DH is feeling better but still has that horrible cough. My cold is just weird. I NEED to cough up something but my cold has just been this dry thing. Just dry throat and my chest feeling like if I could take something with an expectorant it would help. But because of the BP thing, there isn't much I can take I don't think. It wouldn't do any good to go to the Dr. because I don't even have the sniffles and now my voice came back so I guess I will just let it run it's course. I've never had many allergies but the cottonwood is blowing again and all kinds of things blooming so that might be some of it.
I had L. for a little while but now DD has taken him. I didn't really want him exposed to us any more than necessary.
OGD said she was reading on line that only 2% of teen mothers graduate from college. She graduates on Fri. from Jr. College and will be going on to University in the fall. One of the girls who graduated with Jamie has a 1 yr. old. They interviewed her for the paper and she said she plans on going to college here . I thought OGD should contact her and encourage her and be a roll model for her.
Well, better get off here. I have some things to look up on line and then I'm going to take it easy and read my Nook. I know, that's sounds strange but I just want to get well and I haven't been sleeping much at all so maybe if I settle down and take care of myself, it will help. Have a good one. Barb
Back again.
Lusi, I was just looking at Books online and saw one I read several years ago that you might like. You may have read it. The Poisenwood Bible by Karen Kingsolver. I believe it was an Oprah pick one time. Anyway, just thought if you haven't read it, you might enjoy it.
Maureen, bet your yard is looking good. Ours is so in need of attention. Little is getting done with both of us not feeling like doing much out there. I do have to water some plants today. The wind really dries things out.
Barb, I think the wind is the most harmful to the plants. It's just hot today, not much breeze at all.
I just went into the garden to check on everything and the birds are managing to eat my pumpkin and winter squash seedlings one at a time. Now have 1 pumpkin left and only about 4 Butternut squash. If they would grow faster, it would help. DH found the square sifter he made, so put that on the squash seedlings and put some small gauge wire on the 1 pumpkin. I'm just wondering if it's worth it to re-seed. They are nibbling on some of the cucumber seedlings and I hope they don't do those in. I DO CARE about those. The spinach is already going to seed, so will yank those out and they are only about 6 inches tall. Pulled out the radishes since it was too hot for them. I'm not having luck with the cooler season plants. I still have kale and beets. it's just a struggle this year with certain things. the tomatoes and peppers are doing great. and I think I could have zucchini by July 4th, never have had that as long as I've lived here. My Swiss Chard will make it if I can keep the earwigs from eating. My bush beans are covered with some row covers that DH made, so at least the birds can't get those. They've done a number on the pole beans but I'm managed to baby some of them. Will reseed a few. I think one of my biggest problems is that my next door neighbor has ivy growing in a bed right up against our common fence. That is a breeding ground for the earwigs, plus it's on the north side of the fence. How much more perfect could it get?
Take care and relax today, my sicky friend.
Lusi, bet you are so glad you aren't having personnel problems at work. You had enough for a lifetime at that other job.
Ava and I are having an easy day. Sometimes she needs that and I do too. I'm getting to bed too late and can't seem to sleep past 6 or 6:30. I need a break.......
Good afternoon....
We decided not to go out to dinner last night. Dh came in early and we had a glass of wine and a nice dinner of leftovers! LOL
They are doing some road construction on the highway going to our house yesterday. When I went home for lunch yesterday, what would normally be a 10 minute drive, took me 25 minutes. Then, when I came back to work after lunch, it took me 20 minutes. They were still working on it last night when I came home from work and both dh & I had to wait. They were back again this morning; so, I took dh’s pickup and went the back roads (dirt) into town. It looks like they should be moved past our road later today - I hope!
Sue ~ Did dd receive a decent offer today? Is graphic design what your dd did before she had the girls? I’m glad you got your oven fixed and that it didn’t cost you anything!
Viny ~ It must have been entertaining to watch those baby bald eagles. I, too, like day trips like you and Pat had yesterday.
lusi ~ It sounds like the summer break at school will be good for all involved. Is Leo coming with you to the states?
Barb ~ Good for you taking a day for yourself. When are you having dgd’s graduation party? For some reason, I thought it was today at your house? I must be wrong.
Maureen ~ We are debating whether or not to replant our cucumbers - none of them came up. I think it has been just too cold. I’m not sure we can even find any seed this late to buy. Its been a weird garden year, hasn’t it.
I hope we hear from Jo Ann today to give us an update on Tom. Also, I hope she is taking care of herself.
Until later...
Jo Lynn
Hello everyone....it's been a long, busy day! I'm pooped!! Had a routine dr appt at 9 and went from there to talk to the drapery man....got the drapes for the living room ordered as well as the fabric to cover the little ugly chair. I actually changed my mind on the chair fabric....I like both fabrics but thought the one I chose would wear better. Said it would take about a week to get the fabric in....IF they have it in stock in Dallas....if not, it will take longer. Then it will take about 2 weeks to do the work. Rather exciitng.
Then I went to Hobby Lobby looking for the right silk plant for Barb's dining table. I didn't find one thing I like so headed back across town to Jo Ann's and found something that will work. Joan will help get it into the right container and help fill in with additional greenery if needed. I found some little stuff to put in the planter on the front porch....silk flowers are cheaper than replacing real ones that don't last without enough sun or water and Joan will help me get that together.
Between Hobby Lobby and Jo Ann's I stopped at Jimmy John's for a sandwich and bottle of water. Now I'm home...obviously....and am I ever tired! And there's a literal mountain of laundry. Think there will be four loads in all. Grrrr! I'll do it as I can. Probably only two loads today...sheets and towels. With all the in/outs today, I won't need to be rocked to sleep! And fortunately nothing is scheduled for tomorrow so I can finish the laundry at leisure!
Sue....hope Bonnie gets an acceptable offer....that's very exciitng!!
Viny...very cool with the eagles! What fun! Sounds like you and Pat had a great day.
Lusi...love the sister stories! I'll bet you wish you could film it and play it back. I know I'd stay out of it for sure!
Maureen, your garden sure is doing weird things.....the radishes are already gone? I love those things....they are so reliable and so quick to be ready.
Had hoped we'd hear from Jo Ann by now....
Got to go shift laundry....y'all have a good evening.
vammie
Barb...really??...The Poisonwoold Bible?? I hated that book. I think it's Barbara Kingsolver though...not Karen. I did read all the book but did not enjoy it one little bit! Way too heavy....I like fluff!
Good evening friends,
Viny was a neat experience to watch those little bald eagles. I am excited to have a few beautiful birds now and a little chipmunk. Also one squirrel that thinks he owns my patio LOL
I really miss those leisurely rides Waldo and I would take from time to time. Now I just drive when it is necessary. The young people don’t to those types of things. We would stop at nurseries, antique stores and always found an ice cream stand along the way. And, of course we loved the spring and fall with all the flowers and changing of the leaves.
“Memories”
I hope Dale and Pat are enjoying their trip. It was nice hearing from Lynn. I can’t believe how grown the children are. I do see pictures on face-book sometimes.
Lusi, I know you are ready for your vacation. Are you coming alone?
Barb so I assume it will be very windy when we visit. Maybe I should have Sue make me a bonnet so I don’t have to fuss with my hair. LOL
About a week ago all the cottonwood trees here where shedding the white fluff. Honestly it looked like it was snowing. What a messy tree.
Maureen I’m sorry the birds are getting to your garden.
I was not sure what an Earwig was so I looked it up YUK
My friend Janet told me she will supply me with fresh veggies this year.
She brought me three jars of home-made plum jelly this morning.
I started back to WW. I had a good first week
I will just keep doing one day at a time. I want to look nice for DGD Carrie’s wedding in August. Also I want to feel better when I travel to see you all in September.
Jo Lynn I hope the construction is off your road tomorrow.
Will you go out later this week to celebrate?
Sue I hope Bonnie has good luck selling the house and good job interview. Will you help with the babies when she returns to work?
I was hoping we would hear from Jo Ann today.
Hi Carolyn what you up to today?
Marti you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Mo is home and I am loving it.
Shirley
Gee Verna, that's interesting that you hated that book. Wonder what other books I've read that you have hated. I guess I like books that I actually remember. I read so many mysteries and they all seem to run together. I thought Lusi might like it, being set in Africa. And I can relate to some of the strict Christian upbringing. Ok, now Lusi is just gonna have to read it to see who she agrees with huh ? ;-) You're right about the author's name being Barbara. I was looking at Bibles and Christian work and Karen Kingsbury books so guess that's where I got the names turned around.
Maureen, for the life of me I can't figure out what you do with all that food from your garden. I mean, especially if Kim and Kurt have their own. We stopped having big gardens because I could never get the kids to take any produce....and besides, like I told my DSIL, my DB has a big garden so I don't need one. I went out and cut back some peonies . They are just a mess and laying all over after all the wind and rain. Actually DH felt well enough to mow and was complaining about the peonies which he hates. I'm looking forward to sending some bulbs home with anyone who wants them in Sept. Oh My, do they ever want a lot of money for some of them where my friend and I had lunch. I looked at prices on 2 different containers. One was $60 and one was $80 ....and I'm just talking about a plant in a plastic pot ! They do have some different colored ones than I have though but shoot, they are just like a weed. They take over your beds. Not one of them is worth that kind of money to me....I will pay that for a tree however. We also saw a plant that I couldn't believe. I can't even remember what kind it was but we both thought it had already bloomed and was drying up and dying. No, that was the color, kind of a brownish white. It was called a funeral something or other. I'll have to look it up.
I did take some time to read my book while DH was mowing. It seems to be a good book...........but then .............what do I know about good books, Right Vammie ?
Well, DH hasn't wanted anything to eat for a week and we've mostly had soup. Of course, he lost 7 lbs. and his tummy........but not me !
I'll see you all tomorrow. Barb
HI everybody,
Went to Knoxville, the other side in fact, about 60 miles, took my friend from Church to the dr. again. We went by walmart and belk's, and then had lunch at a pizza place. Shirley, you are doing good going to WW. Do you attend the meeting's or just do it online? The bald eagles are sure pretty Vin. I watched a deer down in the field from our house grazing. He stayed there a long time, or she? There are lots of deer in this area and from what I hear black bear's. I will try to write more tomorrow. Got up at 4 a.m. and am pooped tonight. Love and best wishes, Carolyn
I forgot to ask prayers for my GDIL's sister, she was in a horrifice accident and is in neuro ICU in S.C. She is 31 years old and has 3 children. And, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Pat. Not sure if I have said that or not. But, hope it was a good one.
